The sever Landon is very nice to everyone here at Scenic Root in Manlius, New York! The food is extremely good and I recommend it to everyone who hasn't eaten here before. The place is very comfy and beautiful inside.

Owner Mike McDonough opened the Scenic Root in 2016 next to the Swan Pond Manlius in the space that has housed several restaurants such as Bella Cigna and The Saucy Swan. McDonough had experience working at The Dark Horse Tavern in DeWitt, which is owned by his father, Bob, and partner Kevin Kelley. The menu at The Scenic Root is similar to that at the Dark Horse, offering a varied mix of classic and modern American, Italian and other cuisines. The wife and I recently stopped in for dinner for the first time at the Scenic Root after a Christmas lights walk through at The Wild in Chittenango. It was about 630 on a Saturday, and we were sat immediately without having reservations. It's a small, traditionally decorated restaurant, although a little dimly lit for my taste, with maybe 15 tables total. Our server brought menus and told us the specials for the night. My wife ordered a cup of seafood chowder, the soup of the night, and a Root burger, a burger topped with root beer BBQ glaze, goat cheese, and frizzled onions. I chose their linguine pesto and added grilled chicken. Our meals were made in a timely fashion, about 15 minutes. My wife got her cup of soup first and said it was very good, with large chunks of seafood. Our main meals were both very good, my wife's burgers root beer BBQ glaze was very tasty and I loved the pesto cream sauce on my pasta. Prices were reasonable and comparable to other similar restaurants. 2 main meals, a cup of soup, and a cider cost us $50. Our server was great, she was very friendly and personable and just attentive enough. We're rarely in the Manlius area, but if we found ourselves there again and hungry, we'd definitely eat there again.

Loved this place. Wasn't expecting the ambiance to be so inviting and nice!! But both the inside and outside of this restaurant has so much charm! We sat outside, nice little outdoor area, garden like, overlooking a small pond and woodened area. The menu was on point. Small but some great and healthy options! I got salmon over zoodles. So good, light, healthy, and delish! Also they make some BOMB drinks! We walked around the pond after dinner and watched the sunset- it was beautiful. Definitely a good find in the cuse area!

Love the vibe of this restaurant. Staff are friendly and real nice. We went there for an early dinner, the restaurant does not take reservations for parties 6 or below. There is outdoor and indoor seating for this establishment. Parking seems easy enough at the lot, could possible be limited peak meal hours We were served bread and olive oil after being seated. We ordered the tuna poke and chowder. Brad order shrimp riggies and I had the steak bernaise. It was all really good . We even ordered the shrimp riggies to go for my MIL.

The restaurant was beautifully set up for the holiday, with a great atmosphere and a thoughtfully curated drink menu. I ordered the Toxic Ex-presso Martini, and WOW -- it was incredible. Absolutely one of the best espresso martinis I've had. For appetizers, we got the Thai chili tossed Brussels sprouts with garlic aioli, and they were to die for. Perfectly seasoned, crispy, and flavorful -- honestly, I could've just eaten that and been happy! For dinner, I had the Chicken Française, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My husband ordered the fish and chips and said the tartar sauce was some of the best he's ever had. My son got the shrimp tacos topped with pineapple pico and served with homemade chips -- sooo good! We ended the night with dessert (because how could we not?): a layered brownie and cookie dough cake and a maple crème brûlée. Both were phenomenal and the perfect sweet ending. We've been here for brunch before and now for dinner, and both experiences have been fantastic. I cannot wait to go back and try something new! Highly recommend!

It was a nice comfortable feel indoors with a cute outdoor patio. There were two steps to the dining area so it was a bit difficult for my parents to navigate with limited mobility, but doable. The food tasted really good. The only improvement would be to make the yolk more runny on the eggs benedict and the potatoes were SUPER crispy. They could have cooked a touch less but all in all very tasty and good portions. The potato cake on the benny was crispy on the outside and creamy inside. The dijon on the croque sandwich was the perfect sharpness to cut through the rich cheese and bechamel. The carmelized cook on the breakfast skillet veggies was nice, and the bacon was perfect. The best cook on bacon I have had when going out to eat.

The Wedge changes their menu on a weekly basis so I was excited to see what was on this weeks menu so naturally we had to get multiple dishes to share in order to try as much as possible. We ordered two pasta dishes, truffle fries for the table, and brussel sprouts to share family style and we didn't leave a crumb behind! All the dishes were more unique than a typical pasta dish you may find elsewhere which was extra fun and soo delicious! The brussels were so soft and topped with so much flavor. I would love to come again to try their brunch menu and continue coming throughout the year to try many new items as their menu rotates. I really wanted to try their mac and cheese so I am determined to come back at the right time for that one!

They have kept the beautiful details of a historic building while making it warm, classy and comfortable. Service was very good. Our server was also the bartender and he was friendly and helpful....it was our first time visiting. The menu is very eclectic but highlights their house brined, battered and fried chicken. We looked over the menu before going and were excited about the Chicken and Biscuits. It wasn't on the menu, but our server was positive it was available. Three of us ordered the Chicken and Biscuits and one ordered the Hot Mess Chicken sandwich, which she declared delicious. The chicken and biscuits was excellent with a nice amount of chicken and vegetables, creamy and flavorful and homemade biscuits served on the side. I actually prefer the biscuits on the side because I seldom finish my meal so when I take it home, the biscuits are Not soggy. My only disappointment was that while the dish came over looking like a hearty portion, the chicken and biscuits was served over mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes tasted homemade, creamy and seasoned nicely seasoned.....but the actual amount of chicken and biscuits was pretty small. (We didn't know it came with potatoes because we it wasn't on the menu so we didn't get a description) I am looking forward to many more visits and trying some of their signature house brined chicken. We also had a very nice discussion with the bartender about their extensive selection of liquor.

There are high tops, booths and tables for everyone. Seems like a great place to sample the expansive whiskey menu. We stopped in for a quick lunch and ordered the chicken sliders. I was encouraged to return and try more the next time I'm in Syracuse.

The dining room was spacious and clean and bright as were the servers and the bartenders who expertly served us. They have a happy hour from 5 to 7 that varies each day so on this Thursday was half price on selected appetizers as well as $2.50 domestic select drafts. We got there about 10 after five and the bar quickly filled up, which seemed to be regulars, which was a good sign. We decided to linger a little bit over our first drinks and ordered deep fried cheese curds with a delicious margarita type tomato sauce. I had never had fried cheese curds and they were plentiful and came out steaming hot topped with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, unfortunately I did not take a picture as we were hungry and dove right in. When it was time for our second drink, I pondered over their wine list, but decided that with my Reuben and mac & cheese dinner a cold draft would suffice. My husband ordered the Philly cheesecake sandwich and onion rings. The mac & cheese and the onion rings were up charges of $2.50 and they were worth it. The cheesesteak sandwich was not shaved beef, but wonderfully thick pieces of beef on a perfectly toasted bun type with cheese and peppers. The onion rings were generous as well as crisp and not overly breaded. My Reuben was perfectly toasted on a delicious rye bread with just the right amount of sauce to not make it soggy. The star was their mac & cheese served in a steaming hot crock! It was creamy, not too cheesy, but cheesy enough to know that you were digging into a delicious bite of mac & cheese.. well done kitchen! All in all the meal was so large we could only eat half of it and brought it home for another day. We would certainly return as we enjoyed every bit of our evening.
