Decided to try Heuga's tonight on a whim, not terribly busy when we got there so we were seated inside right away. Not a problem because it was warm on the patio and we still had a great view of the mountain and sunset. I had the cocktail special of the day, a rum and pineapple and orange combo that made me recall being on a cruise. Wife had the melon and prosciutto salad which was presented beautifully and she liked it. I went for the special of the night, a grilled chicken sandwich with Mexican street corn on it with a side of fries. Super tender chicken and great flavor. Fries were nicely crispy and seasoned. Heuga's is the perfect spot to warm up and dine in after a long cold day of skiing! I love the ski cabin look the restaurant has and the big windows are perfect to watch everyone skiing out there. My friend and I came in to share dinner after our ski day and the food was fast, hot, yummy, and waitress was kind and attentive. They had live music on Jan 2nd, I thought there would be singing but it was just the music which was nice to have on in the background. We shared an appetizer of mac and cheese and a flatbread and it was the perfect amount of food to fill us up. We really liked the mac and cheese but the flatbread was nothing impressive, pretty flavorless. We thought that after the last time we ate here two years ago the cook would have figured it out, but man were we wrong. Our MP "Wagyu" was clearly thawed out in a microwave and basically inedible. Our pork chop was so dry it was almost unbelievable. The crab cakes, while tasty, were cold in the middle and lacked any real sauce for dipping, besides a fancy little swipe on the plate. The roasted carrots were blistered on the outside and raw in the middle. The Mac and cheese was basically noodles with cheese melted on top. The French fries were soggy and the one special request being pickles on the burger was replaced by a tomato. Drinks are expensive and food was a joke. Our server was sweet and we didn't take it out on her. We will never be back there again. read more

I'd sampled a couple of this restaurant's items at a Yelp event and they were to die for! I decided to make reservations for my husband's birthday and included the family. Reservation was easy to make. Ample parking. Gorgeous property and views! Our server was amazing! Loved that he's eaten some items from the menu and was able to provide valuable input. Awesome drinks and appetizers! Unfortunately, things went down hill. Our meals came out and everyone's was cold. Not just lukewarm, but cold, confirmed by the chef who did offer an apology. I'll probably give them another opportunity to redeem themselves as everything up to that point had been spectacular. read more

This was our first time here and we loved our experience! It's in a pretty location a 25-30 minute drive from Syracuse at the base of a ski mountain. The lodge has lots of indoor and outdoor seating as well as gas fire pits outdoors. We sat at a booth with a big window and a beautiful view. Our server, Becca, was friendly, informative and attentive. She was very familiar with the offerings and gave us useful info on several entrees so we could make good choices. This place has a naturally friendly and welcoming vibe. The menu, which we're told changes each season, was really very creative, offering interesting twists and combinations. I am a bit of a picky eater and I found at least 5 different entrees that looked really delicious. I settled on a lemon walnut pasta dish with added shrimp. It was wonderful! Portion size was generous enough to take some home for lunch the next day. Flavor combinations were really great. We had a great meal and a great time and we are looking forward to returning to try some of the other offerings that also look appealing. read more

We ordered the meatballs as appetizer and two orders of NY strip steak one well the other medium well both came out rare so we sent order back . Waited at lest an hour for steak and owner ask me if I needed anything I said yes my steak . Waited so long it never came out so I told him to keep it . The owner should have been more understanding instead he was trying to argue that I wasn't waiting that long . Got to say I didn't eat ! Service sucks meatballs were awful . Payed for drinks and my girlfriend steak and didn't get anything but aggravated. Don't waste your time , money or have any high expectations! I don't think there is a chef this good in the entire region. Huge discovery. Can outcompete the Brewster Inn, Arad Evans, The Craftsman Inn and Francesca Cucina. Not that these are outstanding competitors BUT the crowd that visits these will be more than pleasantly surprised by the quality, variety and price points. Heuga is definitely better in both quality and price. We had the snapper and it is the first time that a) it is fresh and b) it is superbly prepared. Can really taste a full flavored snapper. Service is very good and the environment is unmatched. Beautiful venue, comfortable, great views. We did not know that the restaurant was open year round! A must visit, you will not be disappointed. We went for the Friday night music and dinner in June. The place was hopping, it didn't take long to see why. First the panoramic views of Song Mountain and the surrounding area from the restaurant's glass walls and the outside seating area are gorgeous . We didn't make reservations so we had to wait for a table. We enjoyed a drink at the beautiful bar that circles the entire main dinning area. We got a great view of the band as we waited. After we were seated we Didn't wait more than a few minutes for our server to come over. He was great! Though they were swamped all the staff; the hostess, servers, bartenders were amazingly courtesy and efficient . So far the evening was great, but it gets better. Really fun option while out and about skiing. The cocktails are a super fun addition to the slopes, as well as live music. The service was a bit slow, something to keep in consideration... but they were super friendly! My only complaint was their menu (could be because it was Friday night freakout).. it was limited and didn't differentiate whether things were or weren't gluten free and very few options without meat during lent. Will definitely be back to give it another shot, hopefully with a larger menu! read more

Tired Huegas Alpine during Friday night freak out. They did a good job managing the crowds and the poutine was delicious. The only thing I would change is that the band was very loud. Came to Heuga's Alpine with my wife and parents this past Sat eve while I was back visiting the area (grew up in Cortland). I had never been and my father said it was a nice view of Song Mountain and good food. Unexpected surprise! Food was great. I recommend the Scallop and Shrimp freshly made Pappardelle noodles in cream sauce which isn't on their online menu but was awesome. We had the Lollipop Lamb Chops and seared Tuna apps. I tried my dad's Ribeye and it was perfectly done and a good cut. Chef Ramon came out to introduce himself which was a nice touch. Great meal. I'm fairly well traveled and have eaten at some of the world's best and I really liked my meal. Thank you! This was a stellar experience. Management took great care to take down our reservation over the phone and ensure a table with a wonderful view. The menu is simple by design. Every item looked delicious and wouldn't overwhelm the kitchen. Entree pricing was quite reasonable. Service was excellent and the food tasted great. One item of caution - the signature cocktails are delicious but a bit expensive for the area (no prices on the menu). I'd still recommend them. But if you're dining on a budget, maybe opt for just one round and switch to beer or wine afterward. We'd go again the next time we're in town. read more

Here on vacation. Chose this place because of its location. The atmosphere is great. Our waitress was great. Service was fast. Drinks were goods too. The food was a fail at every attempt. The charred pork belly tips were neither. They were breaded balls of fat. We got one down and the ordered the charcuterie in stead. Not bad, but obviously pre made and refrigerated as the soggy crackers confessed. Main course fails: undercooked baked potato and a lesser grade cut of ribeye. 1/3 fat and gristle. Maybe the desert. Nope. How can you mess up a cookie ice cream sandwich? Make it in advance a serve it frozen solid. With spoons. The irony is the quality questionnaire we got to fill out at the end. All about the service- which was great. Nothing about the food. Guess the chef designed that one. read more

Nestled into the ski hills just south of Syracuse is the newly built Song Mountain Bar and Restaurant, Heuga's Alpine. What a beautiful restaurant in an amazing scene. The place is spotless and super pretty inside and out. It's not just for winter. The menu is extremely creative and has something for just about everyone. On this visit we had: Ceviche: My wife and I have been to Cartagena and eaten Ceviche at the place Anthony Bourdain put on his show. This ceviche has that very taste. Beet and Watermelon salad: Yeah I said that right. Sounds odd but what a combo! Roasted Vegetable bowl: summer root veggies in an amazing turmeric yougurt base. Drunken Berry dessert: Coffee Ice Cream with Berries and toffee! What another interesting but awesome combination. Also had a Blueberry mojito. Perfect! The portions are a bit smaller but we were eating the type of food that perhaps people would want smaller portions of. I saw an amazing hamburger come out that was huge, and the flatbreads looked really good too! Don't forget to read about the eatery namesake. It's a touching story. First time i was in the resturant. Ordered the bbq ribs. Don't know what kind of animal they came out of but the were the strangest ribs i have ever seen. Could not even stick a fork in them. Cut some off with a steak knife and nothing but fat. Could not even chew them. Threw the second one away. What was worse was the price. Very, very expensive!!! Would have had a better meal at burger king at a quarter of the price. Best part of the meal was the ketchup for the fries. Will never go back. Save your money. We visited Heuga's Apline for brunch today. The service was fine, the setting is very nice, the food was ok. Not fabulous for the relatively high price, but not bad. Partner and I each ordered coffee and received a small cup of diner-quality coffee. Nothing special. The waitress offered a refill and we accepted assuming a refill was complimentary. The bill was a shock: we were charged $20 for the coffees, $5 for each little cup of blah cheap coffee. At other CNY restaurants, we typically pay about $2.50 for a cup of coffee with a free refill. We will not be back to Heuga's Alpine and won't recommend it to anyone else. read more

Huega's Alpine Restaurant is absolutely beautiful with windows on threes sides of the building and a lovely outdoor patio. We recently enjoyed the Mother's Day buffet. The food was delicious. There was a wide variety to choose from and all food was expertly prepared. The wait staff was very professional and helpful. Customer service was very rude and unkind. for mother's day brunch for 5 people only 4 were aloud omelets and the person who wasn't aloud an omelet is a member of the united states military, disrespecting the people who serve and protect our country should never be acceptable. The food was mediocre at best, especially for the price the food was not worth the price tag nor the man power it took to get 1 more omelet made. Food was bland and unseasoned and you could get much better food and for that matter service at a near diner. the atmosphere wasn't the best either, while the views might be good the hospitality of the servers and staff most definitely ruined the views for me and my family. the pricing was UNBELIEVABLE!! for 5 people we don't eat that much either, was basically worth an arm and a leg, the experience didn't match the price tag. keep in mind the mother's day brunch is a buffet you do everything your self ! a 40 dollar tip to a server who brought us a diet Pepsi and 3 mimosas is crazy. we had to put down a 100 dollar deposit, which we never got back, to just be seated! and on top of that we had to pay an additional $160 dollars, if me and my party would have known this we would not have come. very disappointed. read more

I have been to this restaurant twice within a few weeks. The first time, we had 2 tables of 8. They took the order for the 1st table, then our table. But, they brought out the food for our table first. The last thing was a burger which clearly went to the other table. So that one person was eating their burger alone where the person at our table had to wait about 10 more minutes. Of course, it was not prepared to his specifications, was prepared to the other persons specifications. When the bill came, they got their bill and paid before we got our bill... and we had to ask for it at the bar. I had the goat cheese pizza which was OK, but just had a small sprinkling of goat cheese on top. The second time I went, the wait staff highly recommended the steak sandwich, which I thought was pricey at $26. It was totally bland, tasteless and certainly not worth the price tag. I asked 3 times if they had any type of steak sauce, never got an answer. Also, I asked for medium rare and it was medium at best. Tender but again, no flavor or seasoning in the steak or aus jus that came with it. A few other mishaps with our meals had our server saying she would get us a free round of drinks. Never delivered on that promise, and the 3 of us that had drinks at the table had to pay for them. To me, this menu is very limited and somehow I can't see it appealing to an apris ski crowd but I could be wrong. The restaurant and outside firepit are a plus, and the bartenders were friendly and attentive. It will be a while before I go back. read more
