Am so disappointed in this place--I really want to love it but the food and drinks last night were really bad. The place has great potential so I hope the owner and chef read the comments in Yelp and turn the place around. Occasionally go to SV for breakfast/brunch during the summer and it's always been fine-good. Tonight, however was horrid. Ordered the shrimp scampi. 3 pieces of overcooked cocktail shrimp in a watery caper sauce. No discernible tastes of garlic, butter, or olive oil. My son has the Lodge Burger medium-rare and it came out well done. I expect it was not cooked to order. It was "okay" but far from good. The bacon that came atop it had been cooked waaaaay earlier in the day judging by its ceramic-like texture and temperature. Companion had the butternut squash soup and it was so sweet it tasted like some sort of sauce you would get over Thai chicken. Not bad, just overly sweet and one dimensional. Me and my friends came here for lunch. The view of the lake from here is breathtaking. We had to wait for a good 35mins so make sure you call up and make a reservation before hand. They have ample parking in their front yard so finding a spot is not an issue. Heard a lot about their bloody Mary's so decided to give it a try. Was frankly quite disappointed..just tasted like ketchup with chilli sauce. Their vespa was a lot better. The food we order was satisfactory. I had the salmon pasta. I went here for lunch and it was absolutely sublime. The view of the lake is lovely when the weather is good enough to sit outdoors, and the atmosphere is suitable both for casual lunch or for a more formal dinner. We ordered a Cuban sandwich and the Tempura Tenderloin and split them, and it was the single most perfect pork experience of my 5 years in Indiana. The tempura batter on the tenderloin makes for a perfect crispy outer layer to the tenderloin, and the meat stays juicy and tender inside. The pulled pork in the Cuban is delectable, marinated to perfection and dressed with a subtle garlic aioli that complements the meat and pickles without overpowering. The fries with both were also crispy and thick. Service was great, the food came out pretty fast, Talking Heads and Fleetwood Mac played over the speakers, and overall, the experience was excellent. read more

A great place to have a few drinks, we didn't eat here but the view was amazing! You could see Lake Monroe from the outdoor seating section. The beer selection is great according to my boyfriend. I have been here several times in the last few weeks . I don't typically write negative reviews but this place has stepped up to the negative review. The VIEW is amazing after that ... good luck! The food is minimal and expensive and it is really not worth the trip. Their beer, wine, specials might be fun with friends. Never has my food or service of all three visits been worthy of the price. I have since had the same waiter who continues to disappear and disappoint . I really have tried the positive approach but with the lack of service and food quality ... I suggest enjoy the view, get a picture, possibly a drink special .. if that is your thing.. .. move on to the wonderful places bloomington and Nashville have to offer. read more

Great spot that I always go to whenever my parents or relatives are in town. Because it's a bit of a hike off campus, there aren't a lot of college students that go there, which is kind of a nice escape. It has great food and an incredible view over Lake Monroe, year round. I've been there a couple times in the summer when they've had really good live music. In colder weather, you can still sit outside with blankets and space heaters. I was a regular customer of this establishment but after the poor service and negative experience I had last night, I will never eat at this place again. Rude staff, actually made fun of the order I placed, said they would make it right but going on 10 minutes after numerous mean looks and being ignored, I left. Twelve dollars I was to be charged for a smashed up crab cake with no mac & cheese stuffed into a to go cup for soup; all of this after I was told that I could order Crab Cake Mac and Cheese, no problem. The service has always been average to poor and the same with the food, convenience mostly had me returning. But, as I related, after the treatment I received last night, I will never return again. This place has so much potential. The view is pretty but VERY distant (god forbid anyone get anywhere near the shore of Lake Monroe), but the place itself is pretty cheap and underwhelming. The food was average -- we had a Margarita pizza that had a rubbery crust which had clearly been frozen for days. The corn fritters with pineapple salsa were GREAT, on the other hand. They had a small yet cute bar with a very decent selection of local brews. The service was perhaps the worst I've ever had, but they claimed to be short staffed that night. The clientele were boisterish and hisckish t-shirt families, but if you sit outside you hardly notice them. AVOID sitting inside -- WAY too loud with good old boys and screaming children. We really like coming to this place for brunch. The menu is great for food and drinks. The view of the lake is marginal, but present. Outdoor seating is plentiful and happens to be one of the best reasons to come here. I would really love to give more than one star, but the service is horrible. I have to say that they are accommodating, but this is one of the slowest places to get your drinks. We sat for 30 mins waiting on them. Isn't this the money-maker? I feel like they don't have enough servers. Also, make sure to ask if they have their juicer replaced. They advertise fresh-squeezed, but they don't actually do it anymore. The view was great, loved outdoor seating, wait staff friendly. However....as a mostly veg person, when I order a veg burger wrap without cheese I would prefer NOT to see cheese IN the wrap. I was told that the house made veg burger was made WITH cheese. Really... who makes a veg burger with cheese inside. But, I was with great company and the environment was excellent I was able to ignore the food shortcomings. It was nice having local wine offerings from Oliver, and the cocktails sounded fun. Upon walking in I was greeted by a very personable host. She was ready to seat me, but I chose to sit at the bar. The bar was pretty full, but I managed to find myself a spot. Pretty down to earth place, not too fancy and not too crappy! they had a great selection of drinks. We went on a monday and it was half off martini night, not sure if that is every monday, but maybe. We tried 4 different martinis and all were really good. We got the veggie burger and some sweet tater fries and it was really good. all together we spent 30 some odd bucks. I'm giving this restaurant 5stars mainly bc they were so accommodating and when we sent an entree back because it was so cold not only did the redo the meal very quickly but they also took some of the price off and gave us a gift card. I've been to this place three times before and was pretty happy but today was fairly disappointed. I ordered Eggs Florentine. It took a pretty long time to get our food first of all, but when it did come it was lacking in the nameske of the dish: spinach. The spinach was more of a garnish, I would have like about twice as much; there was about a teaspoon worth on each muffin. Next the hollondaise. It was ok, but lightly drizzled onto the top as though an afterthought. I like my benedict dishes with a hearty poriton of hollondaise. They did bring extra at no cost but I just didn't understand why they were being so skimpy with this dish! Especially since it doesn't come with potatoes! I've had this there before and felt they were a lot more generous with the food and maybe included potatoes (?), which I think they should for weekend brunch. I will say they cooked my eggs right (firm), which they often fail to do when I order eggs benedict dishes at other restaurants. I will give them another chance because I like them and the local but I was pretty disappointed with my dish this time. The service was pretty good. read more

This place is fantastic! One of the best brunch spots in the Bloomington area. Really good coffee & cocktails. View isn't to be missed! Service is slow (small kitchen) but they are attentive and it is the perfect spot to spend a lazy morning or catch up with friends. Lots of parking and good outdoor seating. We went here for breakfast on a Sunday. We arrived before it got too crowded about 9:30. The waitress seemed annoyed with us or bored but the hostess was nice and chatty. We got drinks and 10 minutes later she asked if things tasted good?! We waited 30-45 minutes just for food and my scramble came out bland and without the feta it stated in the menu description. Once we got the food she didn't come by till we were done. My drink was in a champagne flute and $9, not worth it. When she took he plate I told her about the feta and she said she would mention it to the kitchen and that was it. Just really disappointed. read more
