He is unfailingly calm, and very good at clearly explaining his plans. He is an efficient surgeon, and even with the difficult extractions our son had, able to complete the work with very little post-operative problems.(Let's be honest, oral surgery and its after effects are very uncomfortable.) I myself have had some extremely unpleasant post-op experiences with other, now mercifully retired, surgeons, and we have all heard horror stories. His practice is very well run and pleasant. We seldom have to wait very long for service, and it is easy to get an appointment. This may be surprising to some, but I'm not a tough guy. I spent most of my life cavity free. Then some time in my late 20s I had a really bad experience getting a few cavities filled. Actually they were my first and last cavities. That is until recently. Dr. Cummings numbed me up and it was done before I knew it. Can't say I'm an expert on getting fillings. And I can't say that I'm eager to get another one. But I am very glad that the one I needed was not traumatic.

Not for Robert Cummings himself - he has exceptionally gentle hands, is communicative and responsive, no issues with care at all. He's the reason I return. Moreover, the reception/appointment staff are really first-rate and friendly. BUT: the hygienists are far from gentle and patronising (that's the worst aspect); there is a strong tendency (in my opinion/experience) to recommend work that may not be needed (for example, two prior fillings "show cracks and need redrilling urgently" - well, that was a year ago and still no problem, thanks); and the place is rather run-down, with no distraction (TV, or even pictures to look at) during the time in the chair. Not terrible, but no reason to really recommend.
