Friendly employees willing to help. Price was part of the course for 511 tactical. Only complaint, and it's not really a complaint, I kind of wish the music had been a little bit more subdued. Hubby was in the mood to shop IN PERSON (whaaat?!) so we checked this store out. It's well-kept, and sadly we were the only ones there the entire time. Everyone is opting to online shop nowadays, it's hard for any stores to compete with the convenience. Employee kept herself busy as we shopped but was available when we needed. Today was our first trip to a 5.11 retail store. I believe most people have knowledge of 5.11 because of their catalogs and web site. I was impressed with the store. The selection of tactical backpacks, pouches and vest add ons is great. I really had no idea there would be this much gear and clothing inside the store. Prices can run a bit high on a lot of their gear but everything looks and feels like quality. A great place to go for well built work pants and their selection of shirts and jackets was way more than i expected. The store was very clean and well organized and the staff was very polite and helpful. read more

I feel like a kid in a candy store when I come in here. They stock quality gear, clothes, and shoes, but that quality comes with a pretty heavy price tag. They do have decent sales from time to time. The staff here is always friendly and willing to help us. For example, we came in on Black Friday looking for a pair of pants we saw in their add. They didn't have any in stock and the person helping us ordered multiple sizes and took down our information, to call us when they come in. He also indicated that they would honor the Black Friday sales price. They offer free coffee in the back of the store! read more

The amount of stuff in the store is great. The layout is organized and open. I definitely saw plenty of things I'd be interested in. The two young men working there both seemed very out of place and were not knowledgeable about the 5.11 products. 5.11 products cater to first responders, military and other outdoor active people. One guy seemed like he was recruited from the gym, the other from Lids in the mall. I hope management clues these guys in or there won't be many quiet professionals shopping here. Update: I went to the grand opening and really enjoyed the "door breaching" and sale prices. They had customer service reps from other stores that were knowledgeable and were what I'd expect from 5.11. I was going to update my review then, but figured I'd wait for things to settle in.. Now I've been back to the store since the grand opening, and my first review still stands. I'm torn because I think 5.11 has improved products in the last few years, and I want to shop with them, but this store is terrible. Customer service is ok but knowledge and professionalism do not exist here at the Reno store. Down to two stars and I'll easily say I won't be back for months or a year. read more

It's a really great feeling when every other guest in the store gets asked repeatedly if they need help, or help finding anything, or any questions etc. The couple that entered the store right before me was greeted. What the fuck? Do I look scary or something? I went in looking for a very specific belt and looked at the belt rack for at least 10 minutes trying to figure out this belt, or trying on that belt, and not one godamn person even acknowledges my existence. Great store for tactical/workout clothes. I buy my polos, jeans and PT clothing here and it's all held up well. They have great taste in store music too! We recently visited again and couldn't help but laugh our asses off at Karen who sat on the phone with corporate (supposedly) to complain about the local rock station's music. I needed some new tactical pants and wasn't sure where to start. Ethan, the gentleman at the register, was the guy I asked for help. I asked him for some recommendations and he showed me the two different genres of pants that fit my criteria. He was respectful and his input helped me make my choice. As a dude I don't like asking for help but this guy was not difficult to speak with for me. I normally don't write reviews unless I really have something to say. With that being said, if I could give your store "0" stars based solely on quality of service, knowledge and professionalism, I would. However, because I've given you my business 3 times already, I feel it only appropriate to give you some credit for your efforts and products. Where to start? The floor plan is large and spacious, but I think for the number of products that they stock they could have gone with something a fraction of the size. In my honest opinion, it's a waste of space that fails to be utilized. One side of the store is literally all Men's clothing and apparel, on the left when you walk in, with the side-wall dedicated to all their styles of pants, whereas the Women's selection is on the right-side as you walk-in and looks to be very limited in its selection. The back wall is predominantly footwear and athletic apparel along with a limited selection on Black Rifle Coffee products. The right-side wall has a nice selection of MOLLE gear and accessories as well as the Bags and Packs. And in the center where the counter/registers are, is their patches, decals, knives, flashlights and other accessories. The only real positive things I particularly like about this store is that you're greeted upon walking in the door and they carry just about everything that's on their website, to an extent. And that's it, nothing more! The Negatives (1) I'm disappointed that their size selection is lacking. A majority of their Men's sizes are in Small, Medium, Large, with a limited selection of XL, and next to nothing in 2XL. I think the largest shoe size I saw was an 11 or 12, which sucks for me because I wear a size 13. (2) Another disappointing factor at this store/location is the "car salesperson" mentality. I like how I'm greeted as I walk in, but then every 5 minutes or so I'm constantly being asked if I'm finding everything OK or if I need help. If and when I need help, I will ask. I don't need, much less like the feeling of someone constantly hovering; it's annoying and unsettling. Stop trying so hard! I'm more than likely going to buy something, but if you make it so unbearable to be in-store, I'll walk out. (3) The professionalism and appearance of some of the employees makes me question if they truly embody the mission statement and core values of the company (if any exist). Hairstyle, grooming standards, hygiene, etc. You're at work, get off your phone! (4) When purchasing and checking out, very little attention to detail goes into the bagging process of items purchased. I bought three shirts and rather than folding them up and placing them into bag, the cashier just bunched them up and threw them in the bag like it didn't mean anything. So afterward he hands me the bag and says "have nice day," but not before I'm in the process of pulling all the shirts out and starting to fold them nicely while intently looking at him to make my point/frustration felt. And I even mentioned to him that "folding is a form of presentation." Either take pride in making the customer/guest/client feel welcome and wanting to come back after concluding business or risk losing them because you've shown that you don't care, much less take your job seriously. 5.11 is supposed to cater to First Responders, Fire, Law Enforcement, and Military as well as fitness and outdoor enthusiasts. 5.11 RENO, you seriously need to step up your game! I drive an hour from South Lake to come down to your store, but if I continually get treated with sub-par service every time I come, I'll make the hour and a half drive in the opposite direction and go to the store in Sacramento instead. read more

Went to the grand opening even this past saturday. It was awesome and the opening ceremony was awesome too. Good quality products, helpful store associates, and large selection to choose from. The deals were amazing too! Next purchase will be a benchmade knife from this store. It was nice to appreciate the police officers of Reno and also for the veterans in the area. My husband and I visited this store for the first time today. The gentleman behind the counter was helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Pretty darn funny too! My husband got several clothing items and a few other things. Because of our total he also got a pretty neat swag bag full of goodies he was super pumped about. This store is great. First time in this store. Prices are no more/no less than online. Cool thing is, you get to try clothes on and check out the pockets in the bags because you are buying person, not online. The man who helped me was friendly and was able to split his time between the few of us in the store so none of us felt neglected when we had questions. The store is nicely laid out, neat, clean and well stocked. This brand has quality stuff and now I can try on clothes to get the right fit rather than guess online. read more
