We purchased our shower glass and doors from Schicker 12 years ago......love the original installation job they did for us at that time. The shower door still looked great, but over the years our home has shifted and the door was no longer square or plumb. We called Schicker for maintenance service and were pleasantly surprised that they still had our original records on file. They scheduled a service visit to realign the shower door and perform a full "service refresh" of the mounting hardware, seals, and silicone. The technicians arrived on time and did an outstanding job--the shower door and glass now look brand new. Special thanks to Hunter and Bob for their excellent work. They were professional, friendly, and took the time to explain everything they did, including what to watch for if the house shifts again in the future. A few years ago we had Schicker install glass doors in all 3 of our bathrooms. We had a problem with 1 of our door & schicker told us there would be a $250 minimum service call charge. We went to Lafayette Glass & they told us a $25 part would fix our problem & if necessary that a service call is needed, their minimum charge is $100. read more

Schicker installed our glass shower doors and the installation work was good. This review is for the maintenance/adjustments that come afterward. The frameless glass shower door they installed shifts slowly over time such that the gap between the bottom of the door and the piece of glass next to it widens slightly over time and needs to be straightened every 12-18 months. I don't know if this is an installation problem or just a common hassle with frameless doors due to gravity because the doors are heavy. They adjusted this issue after 13 months for free under warranty. But then, 12 months later the door had shifted and there was a gap on the bottom again, and now the top of door was hitting the piece of glass next to it when it shut. The quote Schicker gave me to straighten the door was $600. I thought this was outrageous and got three quotes from other glass shower door installers for $120, $160, and $225. One of them just adjusted the door and did a great job. Schicker needs to have a more reasonable adjustment fee so that customers are not forced to either overpay them or use a different company for adjustments than the company that did the installation, thereby causing future warranty and finger-pointing issues down the road. read more

We unfortunately had a very poor experience. Initially had a salesperson show up and give an estimate of what the bathroom shower door would cost, but to proceed required 50% down. Ok we said - then sent a tech to do a detailed assessment; he came over and it was clear that the shower door wouldn't work with our situation. After making this known, the company reduced $250 for the one visit and provided a refund after chasing for several weeks. Poor experience overall, if you want shower doors, funds someone else. We used Schicker many years ago for a frameless shower. The shower doors themselves have held up over time. But, the silicon caulk needs to be replaced periodically because it disintegrates over time. In the past, Schicker professionals have come to our home to redo the caulk. The process takes between 30 and 45 minutes. Yesterday I called and was informed the cost is now $525 to "service" the shower and that the warranty on the caulk is for one year. Even my car dealership does not have such steep labor charges. If you are in the market for a frameless shower, please consider the long term maintenance costs before choosing a vendor. read more

Several years ago I had "Sticker" come to my home and install shower doors for me in one of my bathrooms. If I could do zero and still leave a review that is what they would be getting. I have been waiting 4 weeks for shower doors. They were delivered damaged TWICE and now this third go around the installer did not have the correct materials to finish installation. They are "trying" to get me on the schedule but not with any sort of urgency. When the installer apologized for not getting my doors installed he said. "at least you know we are going to fix it..." I am very pleased with my selection of Schicker Shower Doors. I recently remodeled a bathroom in my home. The last step was to get a glass shower encloser. I visited Schicker's showroom in Concord. It was nice to see a company that actually has a show room where you can see all the products. After visiting the showroom, I agreed to have a sales rep come and look at my project. Kao was great. He explained everything, measured, and went through all the options. I received a quote from a smaller local glass company that was a little bit lower, but after going to the showroom and meeting with Kao I felt going with a name like Schicker was worth a little more. A couple of weeks later I got a call saying the installer was coming. Marcos was great. He and his associate were on time, professional, clean and very courteous. I was very impressed with Marcos. After the installation I noticed a slight discrepancy in what I had actually ordered. I told Marcus and he relayed that to his manager. Within an hour I received a call from Joe. Joe was very professional and we were able to talk through the issue. A couple of weeks later, Marcos was back on site making the adjustment. At the end of the day, my shower looks awesome and I am very happy with the glass encloser. Thank you Joe, Kao and Marcus. Needed to replace a 38 year old oversized glass shower door which was sagging on its hinges. Schicker came highly recommended by a contractor friend. The bid from them was very competitive with other companies. My experience with all personnel couldn't have been better: from the office staff to the initial bid visit to the measurement team to the installation crew, all were professional, thorough, friendly and helpful. Timing for completion of the work from the day of engaging with them went just as they projected, even in these days of supply chain problems. All appointments were kept within the arrival window. The installation crew took great care to protect wood floors traversed to get to the work site and the old tile was not harmed by removal of the old frame nor by the new installation (one of my biggest worries!). The new door is much better engineered than the old one and the installation is perfect - no leaking, good drainage, old screw holes completely covered by the new frame. When the crew left, the bathroom was as clean as when they arrived. They removed all construction debry. Thank you, Mike and Alex and everyone else at Schicker for a job well done! read more

We are currently remodeling a bathroom with rebath, but our other bathroom also needed a new shower enclosure. They wrapped the new shower enclosure into our remodel bid and came out a few weeks before the remodel to install it. So far we are extremely happy with the results. The enclosure isn't just better quality than the old one, but they were able to perfectly hide all the lines and blemishes from the previous one when they installed. Ten years ago, Schicker installed a shower door for us. We liked the model and their service. We just remodeled another bathroom and decided to install the same shower door. Schicker was very professional in quoting, scheduling and installing the shower door. Due to some differences in our shower design the top of the shower door was too low. We asked if they would change the door out for a taller one. Both the Service Manager and General Manager were very responsive and gave us a very fair price for the changeout. Again, installation was timely and very professional. They get a grade of A for the initial job and for the extra special service on the changeout, they get an A+! read more

I purchased a Schicker shower bath door from one of their distributors, Townsend kitchen and Bath in San Francisco, who recommended Schicker for installation. Schicker requires someone to come out for an installation consultation to see if the door can be installed and identify any issues. The guy comes and noted some small concerns around the guide track overhanging a little. But otherwise no problem. Well, when time came for them to install, the installer drilled 6 holes (4 in the walls and 2 in my tub!!) before saying he couldn't install because one of my walls didn't have any backing to support the shower door. He showed me by knocking on the tile and pointing out the hollow sound. Well, if that was all that was needed to determine I couldn't install my shower door then why wasn't that caught during installation???I get you can't see behind the wall but seems like a common problem to warn customers about, especially for a professional shower door manufacture and installation company. I would have reconsidered a different shower door, if I knew this was a potential problem!!! Now I'm stuck with many holes in my tile wall and bathtub. Even after talkjng to Schicker about my options they were not very helpful and not at all empathetic toward me. I had to call the distributor for a full refund and now I'm dealt to deal with the mess by myself. Would not recommend them for installation services. read more

We ordered a high end $1000 door plus installation fee for our remodeled bathroom. Mike comes out and measures for a new door. He recommends that we order a different door, a standard lower end door, than the one we ordered which is fine but it was a very weird experience dealing with this measurer. We called up to the company to put in a revised order and Mike said that we should just use a shower curtain. Mike wasted my time and he wasted his company's time with his inexperience. After our negative yelp review regarding this situation we were called. The Schicker door team was gracious enough to send a new person to our house and voila, it seemed to be no problem to install the door. So far the door is great. It's quite nice. And we appreciated the follow up from their office after the installation. Perhaps the lesson from the story is to make sure you have a seasoned measurer who knows the product. Unfortunately Mike has never installed a door and didn't know their product, but he was a big talker about all the fancy places he's seen in the city where he has measured doors. Mike may be better served managing paperwork vs customers. What you need to know is that their product is good and combined with a good team I'm sure they will come through for you too. We just got two showers installed by Schicker and everything went smoothly. We ordered the showers from Ashby Lumber on a Saturday over the holidays and they were out to measure within another 3 days. We got the Fleurco Novarra which looks just ask good as the higher priced Kinetik and are also made in Canada, not China like many other frameless inline systems. Two weeks later, as they promised the showers were ready to install. The installers were respectful and tidy in our house and did a great job. The only drawbacks with Schicker is that their schedulers sometimes require follow-up, for instance to find out of the materials are ready for install, or to get a receipt from Schicker. It would be helpful if you just automatically got the call and the receipt. read more

I purchased a Schicker frameless shower door 4 years ago. It's beautiful, but Schicker uses silicon to affix the glass sidepanel to the floor, which holds for about 2 months. So every two months, I have to remove the old silicone and reapply it. The side panel can't take the weight of the door closing against it without eventually breaking the silicon that holds it in place. After 4 years of having to constantly reapply the silicone, I called today and asked if they have anything that will hold the glass panel to the floor that is better quality than cheap silicone. The answer was that they do not. They use cheap silicone to hold the panel to the floor, and if I want something better, they will charge me $249 to send someone out to replace the panel with a new one. The Schicker customer service person (Nancy) suggested that the silicone is not holding because I am slamming the door. She said their doors have to be closed very gently, by hand, or else the silicone will break its seal. I am a single guy, and I shower at the gym more often than I shower at home. My shower gets very light use, and I close the door very gently, but eventually the silicone breaks. I can't even imagine how long their product would last with a family who uses it daily. A company who makes a shower door that isn't designed to hold up to normal wear and tear is ridiculous. I would recommend going elsewhere to purchase a shower door. read more

There's definitely a pattern here. We had a frameless enclosure installed about two years ago at a cost of over $3,500. That's more than some people pay for a used car. It is beautiful. Worthy of a Ritz Carlton bathroom. A few months ago the clear moulding that runs along the inside of the door at the hinged edge started to come down from the top. I called and spoke to them about it. They said they would not fix it for free and it would cost $350 to have somebody come and repair it. Seriously? It appears to be a less than $10 strip of plastic. Outrageous! If you're considering having something like this done look elsewhere. Find somebody who stands by their work for more than a year. read more
