We worked with one of the managers, Matt, to help cater my husbands 50th birthday party. He was great to work with and super helpful - food was all ready to be picked up when we arrived with napkins, utensils, drinks if we needed, etc...The meat & sides were delicious, and everything was gone by the end of the party! Tried Schmidt's fairly soon after opening. So wanted to be a fan as I love bbq. My wife favors my homemade and I am always looking for an easy fix when I don't favor committing the time. Service was good, a bit on the "we just opened side". My wife and I ordered the pulled pork platter which said "with slaw" on the menu as well as saying comes with 1 side. After the order was placed we got the "slaw" is the side, misprint on the menu. Strike. Cole slaw was bland, actually awful to be honest, so can understand why may want to avoid having ordered. Pulled pork was fair, but very dry. My wife got the House sauce, which was pretty good but on the sweet side for me. I tried the Carolina Mustard, which was a bit of a mix b/wn NC vinegar and SC mustard. Was a decent mix but too much of trying to be both. Was really interested in the Alabama White Sauce, as it is an amazing alternative, but didn't want to pay extra. All in all a decent bbq option. Would probably give a nod to Yummy Pig in Leesburg, but with the fire, this is your option and a good one. Love the couple running this and their ambition, but while Side Bar is a nice option, so far crabs and bbq are fail and/or playing catch-up. Will try again later this year when they have about a year under the belt. Hope they improve, really want to like it. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed joyed our visit to Schmidt's! From the moment we walked through the door we felt so welcomed! We ended up ordering the grilled cheese rib sandwich and it was deliciously marvelous! And happy hour on a Saturday was an added bonus. Had lunch there yesterday. Atmosphere/service: Only two tables were occupied when we arrived at outdoor tent. Rest of tables were covered with Christmas decorations that no one seemed to be working on the entire hour we were there. Had to rearrange table and chairs ourselves. Was provided a menu and told to order at the bar which we did. Young man was friendly and order was correct so no issues there. Food: in a word; BLAND. It's just what many other reviews state since they opened (and owners/management should maybe pay attention to). Had the combo and selected pulled pork, beef brisket and potato salad. Pork was not "pulled" but instead was sliced and slightly tough. Brisket was fatty. Hard to tell if either had actually been smoked and neither had been seasoned enough or cooked/smoked long enough to get the right texture and fat rendered. Potato salad was boiled potatoes with mayo and maybe something else. BBQ sauces were Alabama white (blah) and maple siracha which was pretty good and necessary on the meat. I cannot see why anyone gives this food higher than a 3 overall. And that's being generous. Overall: sorry to say there's no absolutely reason to return. read more

This is our second trip here. Same results both times. The food is excellent, and the servers are very nice. They simply can't get the food out in a timely fashion. Everyone is apologetic and I feel for them. I have no idea what the problem is? Got a discount the first time, we'll see about today? I ordered brisket and if you told me they cooked it in an oven I'd believe you. It tasted like a dried out hunk (literally a giant hunk rather than thinly sliced) of beef with zero smoke flavor. Zero smoke ring. The house bbq sauce tasted like they dumped molasses into a cup. There are way better bbq options in the area like Monks in Purcellville. Don't waste your time or money. read more

Mid week lunch on the spur the moment, happened in to Schmidt's for the first time. Pleasantly surprised very good barbecue, good service, very pleasant seating area outside under the trees. I'm picky about my barbecue, and this is about the best there is in Leesburg. read more

Only because I couldn't give it zero stars. Terrible customer service. My sister called and was put on "hold" and while she waited, she overheard them answer another phone and take someone else's order. Initially they had quoted 20 minutes, but while she was waiting to place her order she figured they forgot about her, so she tried calling back. Finally they picked up and said it'll be 30 min. Then when she went to the restaurant for pickup, they said it would be another 10 min for one of the orders.... and hour later they still had not fulfilled one of the three orders. So finally they came out to the car and only provided 2 of the 3 orders. They offered no offset or apologies. Just plain terrible customer service and completely unprofessional. Not to mention the food was cold and just average bbq. So disappointed! read more

My wife and I, two mid 30s professionals, went on a date here recently. Really great vibe but amazing happy hour for high end craft cocktails and very attentive and kind bar staff. Highly recommend the unique smoked old fashioned (these are super hard to come by in dc area) and the jalapeño margarita. Great unique addition to the other newer restaurants in the area. read more

I am not a huge BBQ fan, but if it wouldn't be terrible for my life expectancy, I could eat Schmidt's every week. Their pulled pork loaded fries and house BBQ sauce are my favorites, but I know there is so much on the menu I haven't tried yet that I'm sure is also amazing. Fantastic! We ordered takeout on December 5th for dinner. Beef brisket platter and a half rack ribs. The ribs and brisket were both cooked to perfection; the meat was very moist and tender. The house bbq sauce was terrific! Not too sweet and not too spicy. Mac and cheese was just the right texture and nicely topped with crumbled cheese. French fries were very tasty, crisp, numerous, and filling. We are looking forward to return to dine in. Will definitely be back many times. read more

Friendly service, good fries, and the worst brisket I've ever seen. We ordered 3 brisket platters and all 3 were nearly 100% fat. Completely inedible. One of my kids gagged when he touched it. I paid without complaint, and departed for the chick fila drive through. Basically I spent $65 for some fries and a beer. read more

Horrible dining experience today. I hate to give a bad review during these times. Two couples ordered same time. First couple got food promptly. We waited for 2nd couple food but it took so long and ours was getting cold. Nobody came and checked on us. We had to go in and ask what was happening. Sorry kitchen backed up we were told. 3rd meal came out finally. But no bbq sauce. No one checked on us so again had to go up ourselves & ask for sauce. Still no 4th meal. We had to walk up and ask and were told they would bring out right away. Never got it. Waitress never came back and checked on us. Had to ask for check. Waitress brought check and when we complained about never getting the one meal (ribs) she said they were out and asked whether anybody told us this. Duh she was our waitress and no she never told us. Now it sounds like they could have been really busy and overloaded and I would understand if this were the case. However we witnessed our waitress checking on other tables and other patrons being served in a timely fashion. Never an apology from the establishment. Food was good but horrible service. We really try and give local establishments our business and have been very generous tippers however not this time. read more
