My son who was trying to help a friend move last Friday had a terrible time with these people.He is 23 years old and you took advantage of him. He called the number at the apartment he was at and was told he could leave to transport some items and then come back to finish up.His car was towed when he returned. Told it would be 300.00 to pick up but could not do it on Sat because they were not open. Also told it would be an extra 20.00 for the extra day.When he finally got to the window to pay he was told 50.00.Di you people have any rules or do you just make up as you go along. Terrible service!! I scheduled my tow on 10/27/25 at 1pm and was told that the driver would arrive within the hour. After an hour passed by I still did not receive a follow up call or seen the drive so I reached back out and they stated the same thing "driver would arrive within the hour" I did this same thing for 4-5 HOURS!!!!!!!!! I told them that the car needed to arrive to the dealership by 6pm. Once it reach 5pm I called and ask WTF is going on and they stated that the drive kept being rerouted and the last reroute was because of a police call. With that being said I has to reschedule for pick up the next day first thing in the morning at 8am and they driver didn't arrive till 10am. I asked if I could get a discount for having to wait almost 5 hours and reschedule for the next day with the driver arriving 2 hours later and they stated that they could not do anything about the price. Once the driver arrived he stated that it was an additional $10 more and that if we gave him an additional $100 he would guarantee that my car arrived accordingly....like isn't that your job!?! like that's such a TEREBLE JOKE to joke to customers about and that is NOT how you asked for a tip if that was even what he was implying. When I called customer service and asked them to confirm my rate she stated it was $264.68 so I asked for a receipt so I can see why it was $10 more than what she originally quoted me for because the driver stated that it was $10 more than what she stated, she placed me on hold for 20 min so I hung up and called back and someone was able to let me know that the driver charged me an additional $10 because of the credit card processing fee but I paid cash and then the driver call me and stated that he would drop off my additional $10 payment sometime later same day. All I have to stay is that they need to get their shit in order and I would have been more than willing to let the driver keep the additional $10 bucks if I didn't have to get put through all this run around just to get my car picked up and towed hours/a day prior. if everything would have went smoothly and he arrived with in the hour as promised I would have tipped him 20% because I believe that is fair for any service anyone is providing for me but this service was ridiculous and I will NOT use Schmit Towing again! read more

I had my motorcycle towed to their lot, I came to retrieve the lot. They don't have a designated spot for motorcycles. It's a very expensive Harley Davison and they wanted me to drive it off a dock onto a flatbed, and then be lowered down to ground. Because the kick spin wasn't fully deployed the bike tipped over cause damage called multiple managers. Nobody responded now the attorney and insurance companies handling it very very shady company not having one manager Call me back. I was told by our local mayor that I should file a complaint with the State Patrol which I did because it's a government contract. read more

Really, no stars would be more appropriate. Schmit towing is terrible, shady even. They shared my Driver's License and Car Title with another customer by a screenshot text. Also Schmit never called me to inform of tow, even though my car was reported as stolen. Instead, after they'd had the car for 11 days, they sent me a letter by US postal. Two completely unrelated experiences. Their Uhaul rental selection is limited. Ended up going to Blaine to get the necessary vehicle. The other experience is their involuntary tow policy. It punishes legit tenants and fees are the same regardless if you have a valid parking right vs some Joe on the street. They also wrote on the glass and should have the curteousy to have removed it. The only reason they get a star bump is because they had manners in person. read more

I have used Schmidt towing for years to tow my mid sized commercial trucks. Today I needed a tow for 16 miles to a repair shop. I called for a quote and much to my shock it was double the price I had paid two years ago. I called their competitors City Wide Towing and received a quote 250 dollars less than Schmidt. I called Schmidt and they basically told me that if I didn't like their prices to bad and that I was free to go elsewhere. The driver from City Wide "Nick" was arrived in less time than expected and was very professional. Schmidt has been bought out and now does not care about its old customer base. This company has poor customer service! I contacted them on Wednesday morning, May 26th for a tow job. The lady who took my call was hot-tempered. She increasingly raised her voice at me as she asks over and over where my vehicle was and where the vehicle was to be dropped off. I repeated myself over and over, but she couldn't seem to get it. She was too busy raising her voice. She wasn't a good listener. Finally, I hung up the phone. I couldn't stand her unprofessional tone of voice any longer. I can't believe they allow somebody like her at a customer service desk. She's not suitable for the job. If she was this harsh to me @ 9:17am, I hate to imagine what she must sound like later in the day. read more

I had a really, really horrible day that culminated with me blowing out two tires in the Home Depot parking lot after driving through a water puddle. I was definitely frazzled but Phil from Schmit Towing was there in 35 minutes and was so nice and helpful. He could tell I was frazzled and did a great job of cracking jokes to help me feel a bit less stressed. Our daughter was stuck in the snow this evening. After multiple calls to her insurance there was no tow truck in sight after FOUR AND A HALF HOURS! My husband called Haji Towing (612.213.4444) first- he was very helpful but unable to get us a tow. He did refer us to Schmit Towing though. He took the time and stayed on the phone with my husband and helped him find a solution. When my husband called him back to ask about offering compensation after the tow arrived and he politely declined, saying the feedback and opportunity to help us help our daughter was thanks enough. My husband spoke to Angie at Schmit Towing. She was kind, compassionate, and very willing to help us in a tricky situation (we live in NY and our daughter lives and works in Minnesota). After hearing our girl had been stranded for over four hours, she immediately got a truck en route to her. The tow was there in 15 minutes! Our daughter cried with relief when she saw the tow truck- especially after three other companies never showed. They treated our baby with the same care they would show for their own. We are incredibly thankful that she is safely home and cannot recommend them enough. I wish I could give 10 stars instead of just 5. Thank you Angie! Thank you Schmit Towing! I wish we could do more than write a review because knowing our daughter was finally safely towed and made it home means the world to us. read more

They towed my small 1999 Saturn SL2 4 to 5 blocks and charged 259 dollars just for the tow. Then I get charged about 50 bucks a day for their storage fee. What a rip off, especially when Mpls. only charges you 188 for the tow and 18 bucks a day. Their definitely blood suckers. Especially when I only get 111 bucks a month in county assistance! How can I afford to get my car out so I can get a decent job. They only want money! I suppose it's because they contract with the Fridley police. Like they need the money. Oh my gosh, where do I put in my five star rating? I am a disabled Marine Corps Vet from Desert Storm. I don't move like I used to and I definitely don't think like I used to. I'm a handful. My relationship with Schmit towing started on the wrong foot when my insurance company told them I was at a different location than where I was. Very awkward. And then when Liz came to my location, for some reason I waved and turned around and walked away. That was awkward again. Perhaps I was intimated. Or awestruck. It happens. Then it went perfect from there. Liz came out with what she called her "muscle memory" -- holding an adult conversation with me while her hands and feet were scurrying -- pushing my car uphill with just her pinkies, strapping the vehicle to hers and doing all of her magic magical stuff without even thinking about it. Liz was the consummate professional. She was calm, cool, composed, and collected the whole ride. Nothing could faze her. I asked her questions about her work and her life. I asked what her dreams were. I asked tough questions about how she would make her dreams a reality. And, she was never speechless -- answered all my questions correctly and with passion. She explained what type of leader she is - - the perfect leader by the way. Liz was the best tow truck driver I have ever had. So, in summary, Liz was professional, she did the work perfectly, and her communication skills were second to none. Thank you Liz. Thank you Schmit towing for letting Liz be Liz. Got stuck in a 3.5 ft snow drift today and couldn't even get to the wheel wells to dig out. Schmidt Towing was my 2nd call, but from here out, they'll be my 1st. I was quoted that they would arrive sometime early evening which was fine because I wasn't in a hurry. They arrived much earlier than expected, quickly got me unstuck and ensured everything else was working as expected. Such wonderful and polite service all around. I have never had such a bad experience. Car was towed because parking permit wasn't signed. For them to have the car for less then 10 hours and drive it less then 6 miles they changed $260. We called last night and they said it was $175. I asked why the change in price, all I got was I don't know because the car wasn't registering in our system. They actually got mad when I asked for a receipt which all's it had was $260 on the total nothing else filled out. Great service, this was my second experience with them because I got locked out of my car in Oct. The staff is amazing, from the people who answer the phones to the drivers. We did not have a good experience with Schmit Towing. My son parked in a parking lot while his team took a team bus out of town. He unfortunately left his keys in the locker there. They mailed them back to us and it took 10 days. He was told his car was fine being parked in the lot that it was in. When we went back to get it, it was gone. We made over 40 phone calls trying to find the car. We called the businesses that owned the lot and were told no one had it towed. We called police, towing companies and impound lots. We called Schmit towing twice and they told us they did not have the car. We were at the point of reporting it stolen. The third time we called Schmit Towing they confirmed they had the car. They had it for nine days. They wanted to charge us $729. When I explained the situation they dropped the price to $500, which is still pretty high. To my knowledge they made no attempt to contact us to notify us they had our car. They said they sent us a letter, which we did not get. My insurance card was in the front seat and was visible. My name was on it but they did not contact me while charging $50 for each day the car was there. Not being able to find the car caused a great deal of stress. When I spoke to the manager on the phone it felt confrontational. When my son went to pick up the car the manager told him he was military, a former Marine and he would not back down. He would only honor the price of $500 if I agreed not to write reviews online. I will say, the woman who I spoke to when I called dispatch was very kind. I started to cry when explain the situation to her. She asked if I was ok and it her question showed empathy and offered some comfort. In the moment it was very kind and meant a lot to me.
