Their drivers, on the other hand, lurk in the dark corner in their truck spying on people waiting for the slightest slip, to snatch a car within a minute. They afterwards cowardly hide in the back of the shop and push mouthy heartless female at a little cracked open window to deal with the prey. What a bleak way of earning a living! How could you keep your chin up in public? Your family should be immensely proud of you, and your kids must look up to you. During this pandemic, our cars and neighbors cars were towed several times and we all LIVE here. Our neighbor is a nurse ran into her apt to get something she'd forgotten, her car was gone off her OWN parking lot, in a few minutes. She was charged $350 to get it back. Furthermore, they drive recklessly at excessive speeds, and run through stop signs and red lights. Besides swerving in and out the traffic, tailgating others, and putting people lives in danger. They also drive in parking lots with their lights off. Someone had witnessed their driver almost ran over a lady with her 5 years old kid. If you think you're doing your job and the right thing, why are you always in panic mode? Why don't you take your time towing the car? Such a coward! Go to the ghetto and practice your towing skills, see if you could tow a car per day. Their towing license needs to be revoked since they don't care if their drivers are endangering lives and damaging vehicles and properties. On top of that, everyone had been to their trailer that looks like a dump to pick up their car, noticed that none of their employees and drivers were wearing masks and gloves nor practicing social distancing. And they aren't sanitizing anything, both inside and outside the trailer. Employees of this underhanded company should really reevaluate their degrading and shameful lives, since you would have to be at the bottom of the barrel to be okay with doing this job every day; spying on people, stealing their cars for flimsy reasons and taking ridiculous amounts of money($250+) from them. Stay at home and save lives! You aren't needed during this pandemic. If you want to be useful and essential, you should offer free towing to people with broken down cars, and accidents during these difficult times where people are going through hardship. Stop being selfish and help others like many companies are competing to do. This company should be aggressively regulated. I urge businesses to not do business with them. read more

Our 37 foot motorhome broke down on a hot June 2018 day in St. Paul, Minnesota. We called Good Sam's Travel Assist and about 2 hours later Gary Stevens, Jr. from Schmit Towing came to our rescue in the big red tow truck. He called us several times to let us know he was on the way to save us, which was very reassuring. Gary's calm and professional demeanor eased my distress as city traffic zoomed by within inches (it seemed to me!) of our motor home. He assessed our situation and calmly went about his business. He tried to make friends with our overly protective dog, Ginger. When I offered Gary a cold bottle of water, he wanted me to give it to Ginger. I insisted that he take it! There were many things that could have done further damage to our coach in the towing process, but due to Gary's expertise, it was safely towed to the nearest repair shop. I cannot say enough good things about the professionalism, safety and work ethic of "Towmaster G", Gary Stevens, Jr. of Schmit Towing, Inc. He turned a harrowing experience into a good ending. I can't imagine having a better experience than I did with Schmit Towing, when they went above and beyond yesterday. Barb was very friendly and professional when she took my first phone call, which was an unusual request to assist with loading an expensive piece of medical imaging equipment onto a box truck. Then, after I had to make some changes to the initial plan, along with some additional requests, they worked with us and offered to pickup a piece of metal that needed to be fabricated last-minute in order to transition the piece of medical imaging equipment. Given these extra needs we had, I also got to speak with Steve Schmit, who was a tremendous help making this whole job go smooth. They arrived exactly when we asked them to, and the truck driver was very professional and pleasant to deal with. And the final cost of all this was half of what I would have expected! You will see in many of the responses to other reviews that the owner thinks he is upholding the law usually stating to respondents that it was their fault they were "illegally parked". However after speaking to the local police department the officer informed me that at apartment complexes the lots here are private property and it is up to the owners discretion on who is allowed to park there. That is why these predatory companies exist so they can make a quick buck working with the management companies "policing" the parking lots. There is zero legal obligation for them to do this, and it is obvious they do it for financial gains the receive from stealing peoples vehicles and not returning them without charging exorbitant fees. Shame on these people and their predatory business model. Preying on those whose very livelihood relies upon having a vehicle to work and contribute to society. read more

A few months ago I treated myself to a brand new car which I love. Unfortunately, someone decided to steal all four wheels from it last night which is just awful. I tried to go through the car's roadside assistance for a tow but they wouldn't do anything with a wheel-less car. My dealership suggested Schmit. I spoke to a man on the phone who told me they could get the car on to the truck and half an hour later they arrived. They were VERY careful not to damage the car any more and used some very creative methods for getting the car onto the truck. I was so impressed I even clapped for them. 20 minutes later I got a call from the dealership the car had arrived. The driver and his assistant were on time, careful, and very professional. Disappointing Experience I recently had a frustrating experience with Schmit Towing regarding my truck, which was towed from my apartment complex despite having a valid parking permit. After returning from a long trip with my new truck and parking for just five hours, I was surprised to find my vehicle missing. When I approached the office for assistance, asking for advice, I was met with an unexpected level of rudeness from one of the staff members, an African American lady. I attempted to explain my situation politely, but her response was dismissive and super unprofessional. I believe that customer service should always be handled with respect and understanding. I hope future interactions can be more positive and supportive for all customers. read more

If you were out and about on December 23rd in Minneapolis you are aware of what a mess it was. I went out to help someone who was stranded and on my way home I got stuck in a drift in a parking lot. It was dark, it was late and I was off of the beaten path. I started to dig myself out, but wasn't sure I would be able to and all of a sudden Julian E. from Schmit towing was coming into the lot. He must have seen my headlights from 1/4 mile away. He took one look and said "Let's get you out of there." I had $3 bucks - that's all. Probably not even enough for a hot chocolate. He got me out in minutes - it would have taken me hours. He was my angel. I hope Schmit knows what a great employee they have in Julian. read more

This organization patrols apartment complexes in lower income neighborhoods (harming the black community in particular) and appears to split the profits with the management companies for the apartments. They charge exorbitant fees for their towing that are much higher than the industry standard and when people can't afford to pay, they (steal) take possession of their vehicles. Even if they tow your vehicle erroneously they will still charge you a "discounted" fee to release your car even though they had no legal basis to tow it in the first place. It looks as if it's a "religious" family run operation (scam) and while it may be legal, it's predatory and unethical. read more

I called Schmit this morning after my car died in the middle of a rush hour intersection. The woman on the phone sensed my urgency and dilemma and got right down to making this bad situation much better. She was so pleasant and expeditious. It was a snowing morning with what I am sure is plenty of towing business to be had for Schmit. She said 30 minutes and that relieved me that it would be so quick. I was even more delighted when the super nice and helpful guy shows up to tow me 15 minutes later. For what was a really lousy morning for me, Schmit was really wonderful. My BMW Roadster refused to start for me this Spring-- the battery was completely dead. I tried charging and jumping, with no luck. I really didn't want to have it towed, but felt I had no choice. Several people recommended Schmit. Gary S. Jr. was able to get it started, so no need for a tow! It was quicker, cheaper, and easier on my car. I couldn't have asked for better service. We had a fantastic experience with Schmit Towing. My son was rear ended in Rogers and we live in Eagan. We didn't think about leaving the vehicle so that the tow driver would be able to hook up easily. The young driver that delivered the car didn't complain about the difficulty of getting the car loaded, the distance or the small size of our culdesac. It only took him a couple of quick tries to get the car maneuvered into the place we wanted. We would definitely recommend Schmit Towing! read more

The guy who answered was polite, and quickly let me know the cost of towing my car to my favorite shop. They were quick to show up, and waited with me until the shop owner arrived. Scam artists. They take the time to explain why they are hurting you. Ultimately they feel vindicated stealing your vehicle from apartment parking lots to make a quick buck. In cahoots with apartment management companies to take vehicles and charge 280 dollars to get them back. I had a flat tire one night Roseville. While I waited over an hour for the tow truck to arrive, the Roseville police came and told me to limp the car over to the Macy's Rosedale parking lot. When Julian (#362) arrived in the Schmit Towing truck, he was friendly and reassuring that he could change the tire quickly and I would be on my way. He was polite and fun to talk to.
