"Out of the blue" and Modelo.

This is one place that I grew up driving by almost everyday, but if it wasn't for a good recommendation from my mother-in-law, we may have never stopped in. On October 19th 2022, my partner and I had visited Schneider's Pub. Upon entering, we were greeted with a very old-school feel of a restaurant. It was a decently sized, dark room filled with IU and Colts memorabilia. The football game was playing, while the neon signs were glowing. The atmosphere was definitely meant to be more intimate and they pulled it off well. When entering, no signs to direct customers were present, so we went ahead and sat down at the table next to the game playing. After about 15 minutes of not being greeted, my partner headed to the bar to grab menus. The bartender let us know that he just did not see us and was more than happy to help. Unfortunately, he also let us know that they were no longer serving food, but we did stay for drinks. No special drink menu was offered, but the bartender did bring us a old drink brochure. I chose a "out of the blue" which is made from blue curacao, vodka, and soda water. As the night went on, we had lots of laughs, especially with the partiers seated behind us. Earlier in the night, when the bartender had taken our IDs, he came to the realization that both of our 21st birthdays were in the last few weeks. That same bartender ended up bringing us both out "pineapple upside down" shots as a belated birthday wish. I had a great time the whole night, but that had really sold us on the establishment. In the future, I really hope to try their food as I am sure it would be great too. I feel like I didn't get to totally experience the restaurant without trying the food, but it wasn't a huge deal breaker for us. Our total came out to $12.95, which is great for three drinks, not including the shots. Overall, I had a really good time here and it far exceeded my expectations. We weren't sure if it was worth staying, but we are glad we did. It is a great place for cheap drinks and fun.

Exactly what I wanted on a Sunday night as the weekend wound down. I had a cold draft Blue Moon and an incredible pork tenderloin sandwich with crinkle-cut fries. It's a Hoosier treasure.

Awful service. Food sucked after waiting over an hour for a sandwich. If you're not a 'regular,' don't expect to get any attention here.

They had the door open, which was letting in the fresh almost-spring air.) Drinks are pretty much all they have at Snug, to be honest. Don't visit thinking you're going to find a meal, because they don't have a lot of food beyond locally made hand pies and empanadas, a grazing board, and something called Snug Nuts. (Which brings to mind certain ... images.) I didn't get any food, just a Road & Coke, which is a whiskey with a Coke and lime, similar to a Cuba libre, although a Cuba uses rum. It was delicious, but a little light on the booze. It was only $5 and change, though, so it's kind of like what do you expect, really. It was a nice drink to sip slowly while I sat in the small, cozy bar. Speaking of bar aesthetics: Snug lives up to its name. It's tiny and dark but inviting. It feels like stepping into a hug. A hug that can also provide you with copious amounts of Irish whiskey, which sounds like the best kind of hug, to me.

We complimented it, asked where they found it, and before we knew it, we were chatting with a wonderful couple who had traveled all the way from overseas just to watch Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever play that night. Moments like that are one of the reasons I love Indianapolis on game days. The patio was the perfect place to soak it all in. Fever fans filled the sidewalks, kids proudly carried homemade signs, and there was an excitement in the air that only comes from a city rallying behind its team. We could have people-watched for hours. Our waitress was exactly what every server should strive to be. Friendly, relaxed, and genuinely fun to talk to, she somehow mastered the art of appearing right before we found ourselves looking around for her. We never felt rushed, but we also never waited for anything. The food held up its end of the bargain too. The fried mozzarella disappeared embarrassingly fast and earned a solid 9.3 on my unofficial stretch meter. Crispy on the outside, perfectly gooey inside, with a marinara sauce that was every bit as good as the cheese itself. The chef salad was fresh, generously loaded with toppings, and easily big enough for a meal. I honestly couldn't tell you what beer I ordered... Because what I remember most is the experience. Sharing appetizers on a sunny patio, meeting fellow basketball fans from halfway around the world, and watching Indianapolis come alive before tipoff. It reminded me that sports have a funny way of turning complete strangers into friends. We'll absolutely be back the next time we're headed to Gainbridge.

Our server was friendly and responsive to one member of our group (male) but repeatedly didn't acknowledge another (female). This wasn't a one-time thing, it happened several times over the course of our visit, and it came across as dismissive. As for the drinks: beer prices were nice and cheap, but the margarita was on the expensive side and not really worth it. The place seems geared toward bigger dinner crowds, which may be why a two-person drinks-only table didn't get much attention, but being essentially ignored isn't a great look either way. We wouldn't return. 2/5.
