Now radius recycling, this place is extremely friendly. Yes, it's been around for a while and looks intimidating but that's only the buildings and site ... the people are incredibly friendly and not intimidating. Keep in mind I am just a homeowner with a basic truck. Regardless, on the phone or in person, just be polite and ask questions and they'll be more than happy to help. When I called to see if they would take my material, the girl on phone explained in detail on how to pull up and get weighed and continue on. When I wasn't sure where to drive in the yard after the scales, the ticket guy took his time pointed out landmarks in the yard for me to follow. Even the crane operator helped with hand signals to tell me where to back in my truck. Then why I was getting a little lost to drop off copper, Iram in the back led me where to park, took my material, weighed it out and sent me on my way with pleasantries. When checking out I parked my truck, the attendant and asked me where my truck was. I explained I parked it next to the building... She said I needed to put it on the scales so she could weigh it; we both laughed at my lack knowing what to do. She was extremely understanding and processed my receipts. Not beginner friendly to use for residential/CRV recycling however it's very efficient. This was my first time experience. What you have to do take the right lane at the front gate, do NOT go on the scales. The road is a bit rough so be mindful that your car might get dirty. You follow that road all the way down to an area where a tiny loader/forklift is moving around open dumpsters/trash cans. Nearby is a sign that indicates that CRV is recycled here. Park with your trunk/flatbed facing out so that the forklift can drop off a open dumpster for you. Go fetch your own trash cans to sort out your recycling. Once done, you load the filled trash cans onto that open dumpster and then the forklift picks it up and brings it to the weighing scale. The employees will take care of the rest. You line up at the window and the guy will give you a slip indicating the breakdown of your recycling. The ATM was down at the time so I had to bring the slip all the way back to the main gate (that's the path to leave anyway). They gave me a check and I was on my way. The rates were competitive and higher than most other places. read more

I had big heavy metal items that my local transfer station would not accept. They recommended I go to Schnitzer's / Radius. When I looked it up and read the reviews it seemed a little intimidating, but I didn't have a choice. When I first got there I spoke to a woman at the window at the scales, she was incredibly friendly and super helpful. Then after I got weighed I drove down to where the yard coordinator was, he was also incredibly friendly and super helpful. Then because the weight of the item, they used the claw to unload them. The guy that operates the claw does magic and carefully plucked the items out, and was super patient as I got back into the right spot. The whole experience was absolutely positive. Decent prices, painless, I am usually in and out in good time, scale weight is clearly displayed. The workers are friendly and move fast. Wait time is reasonable, I've been there a few times and each time there were only a couple other patrons. They try to keep the area clean and free of tire puncturing debris. Good price on old car and rv batteries at the moment. When you drive in stay to the right past their big commercial operation and you eventually come to the recycling center. The forklift operator drops off a large metal bin next to your car with plastic bins available nearby. I went on a week day, wasn't too busy, a worker approached my car and asked how he can help. They had a forklift driver bring bins over to my car and had me separate bottles, cans, and glass.. They weigh the items and take your ID & license plate info. They print a receipt voucher that you bring that back to the front building.. Cons: Their sign says no milk jugs for plastic CRV redemption. And they have a ton of wasps flying around. These guys need to work on speeding up the line. This is crazy. Spending hours in just of recycle trailer full of tin. Sometimes I feel like taking to a landfill and dump it for free and skip the line. Schnitzer open up 2 lanes for commercial semi trucks and another line for public and keep them rolling. Create bigger dumping area so not 3 cars can go at a time but 8-10 cars. Also put another front desk person on the right. I've been coming here for long time but patience are running thin waiting in line. Diesel $5/ gallon; temperature 100+ F. Feels like Money I'll get, will compensate for the gas wasted standing in line. 2 stars because of Long lines. Guys do a better job. I hope management is reading this and will respond soon. Just wanted to give a shout out to Schnitzer Steel! I had been there several years ago to recycle cans, plastic & cans; however, found a recycling place in Folsom that was closer to the errands I run on a weekly basis. Since that business closed, I have gone back to Schnitzer Steel & have been pleasantly surprised. The staff is very helpful, bringing plastic cans to you so you can sort recyclables, lack of vagrants and no crazy long lines like the last business. This place has gone downhill in last 6 months. Had to get a debit card to get paid about 4 months ago because the atm was "down", which was ok. Yesterday, atm was "down" again and my card was no longer accepted there. They were much slower(not busy)than usual, yet I waited behind two vehicles to weigh in for 40 minutes. Took me 15 minutes to drop scrap, go to the back, drop nonferrous stuff, then it was 45 more minutes for 6 vehicles to weigh out. I had to get issued a new debit card and the heavily tattooed woman acted like I stepped on her puppy for asking why it took so long to clear the lines. With a prison attitude and dumb-face, she scoffed and said said they were busy, which was a laughable lie. The guys in the back working hard, sweating themselves to the core of their turn-outs in 104°, and the disrespectful inmate in the air conditioned office didn't even know how to activate the mic on the wall so people could hear her ( I had to lean close to the dropbox tray and cup my ear), or speak respectfully to a customer. What justification can they have for charging a facility fee if their facilitation keeps getting worse over time? One office worker(probably a manager) was agressively speeding around and between customers in his jeep the whole time as well. It is no longer worth it to go to Schnitzer's in Rancho Cordova. Your time will be stolen, your money will be pinched without justification, and with the disrepair to the facility roads, you may just end up with a flat tire for your troubles and disrespected at the window. If actions speak louder than words, they simply don't value their customers anymore. Step 1: replace tattoo lady. Step 2: fix the roads. Step 3: put correct money in atm every morning. Step 4: stop hiring slow, lazy, dishonest, disrespectful office staff. Step 5: waive facility fee for any customer that weighs out an hour or more after weighing in, or stop referring to it as a facility fee(be honest, and call it the pinch-your-hard-earned-money-because-we-can fee). read more

This place is a denof thief's I should of learned the first time but no I took in over a 1000 lbs of extruded aluminum it had some canvas on it so they called it dirty gave me 15 cents a pound. What a joke oh ya it was 6063 aluminum the best grade. Do not go here go to TKO much better. read more

I got promised 1/3 of what they quoted me over the phone. One full trailer of aluminum and copper 880 lb. for $123. Not just that buy they treat you like criminal by taking your fingerprints to bring them the scrap. Oh.. and the don't pay you anything on the spot. Only thing I hated was that you have to drive all through the place to get to the back...theres all types of debree out there on the little road back there. Super sketch. This place is a joke I have been to other recyclers and you get paid right away, At Schnitzer if you have aluminum or copper you have to wait over 3 days to get paid so that's another trip down there or they will send you a check but that will only take 2 to 3 weeks. Go some where else read more

i had a bad experience with them , Suzi a lady that gave me and my partner quotes on a crane is a liar ,she quoted 280$ and a week before 275$ a ton ,when i got there i told them what i have been promised and they said OK when i went to pick up the check after i left the load there she said that she does have a record of talking to me and she has never offered that Price , if you go there talk to her from the gate and make them sign otherwise they will stab you in the back however they can,do not trust the sales people for a second ,they make the profit margin that way,after all i feel robed because they made there move after i was out and i could not have gone back and pick up my load to sale it different location,the black hole that sucks everything in and nothing comes out,stay smart if you can! read more
