This store chooses to do the weirdest things and institute rules that seem like weird control. For example, self checkout in the morning there is only 1 running machine out of 6. There was a lady tending to the single self checkout kiosk and a huge line. The felt rushed buying my overpriced groceries and it was 7:15 in the morning why are we doing all that just open at least 2 of them???? Duh..??? Also, good luck coming here at 5pm you'll be standing in a line that literally wraps around the store and lasts about 35 minutes. read more

if there was a rating of "0" that is what I would give this store. I bought some yogurt on June 4. brought it home and on June 6 I was going to have some for breakfast. went to open it and noticed it has a stamped expectation date of May 3 on it. Expired over a month ago and Schnucks was still selling it. I packed it up and went back up to store. before I went to customer service I went back to the yogert section and the same flavor and brand I had just bought on June 4 was still on the shelf with the exact expiration date of May 3. Thete were like 2 on the shelf with that expiration date as mine but no telling how many they had already sold. I proceeded back up to customer service to get a refund and had to wait more than 5 minutes before anybody came to help. when asked if anybody was working the response was Tony is running late to work and he should be here soon. Really??? my time isn't as important as yours and I had to make the extra trip up here because of an error on your part by selling expired yogert??? This particular store has gone down hill tremendously over the past few years. I have had problems in the past with this particular store. I have learned my lesson I will drive a few xtra miles to go to the Schnucks store in Crestwood from now on. Hampton village is very POOR example of good customer service. Remarkably terrible. Bad produce, subpar meat. The only place where I've gotten numerous bags of greens/salads (over months) that expire weeks before their printed dates. The greens seem to be put in a freezer, causing a ton of water to escape the greens and sit in the containers: rotting the produce. Somehow the entire meat department smells like bad fish, for months-- during an expensive renovation. Anyone gonna fix that? It seems no one managing this store knows how to handle food that isnt canned or boxed. read more

Schnucks offers a wide variety of grocery items, including food, drinks, and everyday essentials at affordable prices. I appreciate using the Schnucks rewards app to keep track of digital coupons and rewards, as well as earning points through my phone number on every shopping trip. The employees are always helpful and friendly, whether I'm checking out with the cashier or using the self-checkout. There's always an employee available to assist customers using the self-checkout. The store recently underwent a remodel and now includes a Starbucks cafe. Additionally, there's an in-store CVS Pharmacy where customers can pick up prescriptions, get vaccines, and have their blood pressure monitored. The pharmacist who administered my COVID-19 shot in January 2022 was friendly. I appreciate the store's clean layout and appearance on every visit. I highly recommend shopping at this grocery store for local favorites such as frozen pizzas from both Imo's Pizza & Dogtown, Provel cheese, small-sized Ted Drewes custard, pork steaks and toasted ravioli, as well as ordering fresh flowers at a floral service inside the store. read more

I like this location so much more than the others in the area. This store didn't seem to be super packed, which made the shopping so much easier. The self checkout area has several registers, which is great for someone like me who would rather do it myself haha. This store has a pretty good selection of food. Unfortunately, their vegetarian selection needs some improvement. Their meat substitute is lacking for sure. Also, the layout of this store is a bit weird. There is several places to look for the same thing. Why not just make it one area? Weird. The store was very clean, however, and the shelves seem to be organized well. If they would fix the overall layout, it would be an excellent grocery store for sure. read more

I am familiar with the grocery store chain Schnucks; which are only prevalent in certain areas of the union I have come to realize - which isn't a bad thing. I would equate the Schnucks brand of stores (IMO) to the old Dominick's brand of grocery stores for those that are familiar. As it relates to this particular location, I was impressed with the selection of fresh produce and meats. This Schnucks location is open 24 hours which is great for is late night shoppers and happens to be well kept every time I enter. I will say that this store is definitely more expensive than your typical Wal- Mart; but definitely worth the price. As this location has the ability to offer a unique experience for those that may not be use to it (maybe to much information for a grocery store lol, but hey this is what we Yelpers are for :-)). II am not sure if it was the prayers to the Shopping Cart Gods or if it was the coin I tossed into the Wishing Well, but Schnucks finally has gotten new shopping carts. We shop like New Yorkers, only buying for one or two meals at a time. So those big bulky carts are way to big and those plastic hand held baskets are way to small. As Goldilocks would say, "These two tier small shopping carts are just right". Is it possible to be a Schnucks connoisseur? If so, I pretty much hit that mark. I've traveled high and low and visited a many of Schnucks. Hampton village is right up there with "pretty good." Not as bad as the one on Grand but not quite as luxury as the one off of Arsenal. It's a fairly large location with friendly staff and a decent strip mall as far as parking and traffic goes. I live down the street and shop here often since it can be a challenge to get out to trade joes and fresh thyme on a regular basis and I prefer to support the city. I like the new draft beer counter and cheese selections but organization and customer service are another story. In my experience sale items often do not ring up with sale prices so you have to keep a close eye while ringing up. They hardly ever have baggers or enough lanes open so price checks can take awhile and there is often a line behind you. Big ticket items like wine and beer are often misleadingly places or labeled. When I was in this weekend I saw an end-cap of nice scotch marked down significantly. I thought it was odd but grabbed one. Luckily when I got home my wife noticed it was full price on the receipt. I took it back and waited for several employees to be called before being told by the liquor manager that that display was a mistake and that he couldn't give me that price because he would lose money. I had to manually put in my own credit card information and leave empty handed. The display had been there all morning and early afternoon so someone else could have likely had the same situation and not caught it. Unfortunately this isn't the first or likely the last time I've encountered a situation like this here. read more

I live right across the street from this schnucks and have for about 4 years, I go there for meat and things of thag nature but I mainly stick to target for a few reasons: -parking, absolute nightmare..most of the times you are available to go so is everyone else and trying to back out or get to a decent spot is next to maddening. -cleanliness, it's not "dirty" but it certainly feels less clean than it should in my opinion. I think it might just be the old school floors but I digress -selection of goods: the bare minimum on popular items and copious amounts of random stuff. For instance, la croix, a very popular drink. They have a few original flavors and no variety. Same can be sad for other non alcoholic beverages and snacks/chips. But don't worry the cookie and cereal aisle are massively packed. The Italian/pasta section is VERY limited, just FYI. Selection of booze is pretty great for liquor and wine but beer selections are limited. They do have wine and beer cold, limited quantities. Usually good wine on sale too! -checkout: express, customer service, 4 self scanners and multiple assisted checkout. Lines are usually very slow, sometimes the self checkout moves fast because people understand they aren't made for a $200 checkout. Sometimes it's a process if the attendant needs to see your ID because they're understaffed often. -they accept debit, gift cards, cash, EBT, and credit cards. FYI the chip reader has never worked. -overall, it's satisfactory for the basics and what not, there are other locations I like much better. -will I be back? Probably? It's a block away. read more

A couple of months ago my mother-in-law, at our suggestion, signed up for the Schnucks delivery service (she is 98 and the winter's can be troublesome; not to mention she wants to keep her distance from people right now). At the moment I have to say that it was a huge mistake!! She has placed some 5 orders since signing up; two orders had items missing that she had been charged for; while one had items that she didn't order. I understand Schnucks uses Instacart to deliver the purchase, so I'm not sure if Schnucks personnel get the order together for Instacart to deliver; or whether Instacart does the shopping bit as well as the delivery. Either way it seems to be a shambles. Her deliveries originate at the Hampton Village Schnucks. If this continues we'll have her cancel her membership and find a grocery store that can do the job properly!!! read more

I won't go on a rant right now about how Publix is such a better grocery store than Schnucks because then I'll really miss Florida, but this Schnucks is... not great. It's not about the employees, who are fairly friendly (although somewhat hard to find if you have a question). I'm giving this Schnucks a 2 because of the layout. It's probably the most confusing and logic-defying layout I've experienced at a grocery store before. The whole store is basically divided in half by the alcohol and bakery section forming a sort of awkward barrier, so that when you're trying to go from the produce section to the rest of the store, you have to go through the alcohol or to the back of the store past the bread. Also, the frozen aisles and the other dry goods aisles are set perpendicular to each other. How does that make any sense? In any case, I try to avoid this Schnucks as much as possible unless I happen to be in this plaza because of the gym and I need to pick up a few grocery items on the way home. I usually do most of my grocery shopping at Aldi, Shop 'n Save, or super Walmart every once in a while (if there are other miscellaneous items I have to get). Schnucks is lower down on my list because it's pricier, but this I end up here sometimes due to sheer convenience. So to summarize, I personally don't like this Schnucks because of the very strange and super not intuitive layout, but really, it's a first world problem and the actual products and employees here are fine, even if it is more expensive than Aldi. read more

I love this Schnucks! I used to live within a few blocks of this store but now that I've moved I actually go out of my way to come to this Schnucks. I visited the Shop and Save which is my community store and contrary to the name the sales I find at Schnucks are much better than the 'everyday low prices' at S&S. I usually shop during the middle of the week that always has the best prices. Today I happened to drop by on a weekend and they had two special events going on in the store. They had decorated cupcakes in about 20 different flavors for 99 cents mix and match. They were also having a whiskey tasting in their alcohol department. Speaking of...the biggest reason to come to this Schnucks is they have hands down the best drink selection of any grocery store. Their craft beer selection is very impressive and they offer a $9.99 mix and match 6 pack that generally includes some rare brews. Worth the trip! read more

Usually a grocery store is low on my list of things to review, but I enjoy the Schnucks at Hampton Village. It is well organized, clean, brightly lit, has the cheesy music turned low, and the employees are usually friendly. I like their beer selection and they seem to have a large wine/liqueor selection for a grocery store. The crowd here is pretty good too. You won't see many shoppers wearing pajamas, screaming kids, or having domestic disputes in the frozen foods section. At least not compared to other Schnucks locations I have frequented. I usually like this Schnucks and do 90% of my grocery shopping here but... The meat section here is ridiculous. There is never anyone out waiting and we have on several occasions had to go knock on the door going into the back room asking if someone can come out. Today no one was there when we walked up as usual, then the butcher came out, ignored us and proceeded to clean a George Foreman grill for 10 minutes. He then came over and asked what we needed, and we told him the 1st of what was going to be 3 items. After he bagged and tagged the first item he just turned around and went back to detailing his George Foreman grill. Im not sure if I was more annoyed at not being helped or that he was so obsessed with this Foreman grill. He was cleaning this thing as if it were about to be in a George Foreman grill beauty contest. Hopefully they fix this because everything else about this Schnucks is really good. read more

Not my favorite place to shop honestly. I prefer the Hill location just because I have a hard time finding stuff in this location and also, their liquor section is significantly lacking compared to the other locations. Parking also seems to be problematic sometimes as well since there are so many other shops in the same plaza and so close to the location it is difficult to get a spot sometimes. Either way, if I needed to drop in for something I couldn't find at Walgreen's or Target, I'm pretty sure I could find it here. It also just seems like they have better produce than other locations also. They do have a lot of the same offerings that Culinaria has as well and if I need to grab a fruit or cheese tray for where ever I am headed I know they probably have it in-stock. At least the checkers don't judge me though when I walk past at 10am on a Sunday with two bottles of Champagne and a gallon of orange juice. read more

I go to this store so often I think the staff are my cousins. I don't always do "check ins" cause I'm too embarrassed. See, when you live alone, you don't know what you want to eat til that day. I go 2 times a day, often. My only negative is that I wish that they would make some upgrades. If I want something a little special I go down to Dierbergs at Mackenzie Pointe. Recently I see they added knife sharpening for "FREE". You just have to pick up a sleeve before you bring in your knives. Guess they don't want any gory accidents. You can take in 3 per visit. I'm thinking they have a little guy back in the meat department with glasses and all hunched over. Some one needs to check this out. read more

This is "my" Schnucks (everyone has one, don't they?). Here are the tips and observations of someone who shops here at least once a week. - The store is large, but recently was remodeled so that it could house more items. The remodel made everything a little more cramped but they do, in fact, have more specialty items now - so it's a tradeoff. - The deli is always well staffed and they give you a sample of whatever you are asking them to slice up for you. - The meat department has been beyond helpful to me in the past, even cutting me fresh filet mignons when they don't have the size I like in the case. - Stay the hell away from the JC Penny corner of the parking lot if you value your sanity. - You can go early and avoid the crowds, although then you have to maneuver around the stock guys in every aisle...but that's less annoying that crowds. - Along with the remodel, came a much larger liquor selection (which you'll need if you don't go early to avoid the crowds). - They always have the checkouts staffed well. I don't think I've ever had to wait for more than one person ahead of me. read more

Like Dierbergs, it has a pretty good selection of organic and healthy choices. Its a locally owned grocery that treats its employees well from what I hear. Other big pro: Big beer, wine, and liquor selection. Its wonderful in Missouri to have this in the grocery. The downside is that it gets pretty expensive. Nobody wants to let walmart into the neighborhood, but they're building another one because Shnucks and Dierbergs have dropped the ball on one stop shopping. Maybe shop n save is the reasonably priced local store? Does everyone just get a sam's or costco membership here? Big location with fresh produce and most booze. They would have almost everything. Expensive enough to drive some customers to shop n save, trader joes, aldi, target, walmart. Sometimes I miss kroger and meijer from Ohio. read more

This is one of the best Schnucks locations in the city! I love driving a little farther to make it here. The produce section is huge, attendants at the deli are great, and i never seem to be waiting too long in a line to check-out. Close to my heart, the alcohol at this location is wonderful! Nice and open so i can park my cart and make my decisions. Great craft beer selection, liquor, and even the chilled bomber cooler is stacked. Tip: they have jello shot cups near the wine! read more

The produce is fresh and good quality. The meat department is fine, but I recommend skipping Schnucks brand raw chicken as I found it under par taste wise after cooking and packed with water. The worst part of this store is customer service. The employees around the store are not friendly or helpful and most of the cashiers are awful or over worked. Not enough lanes open EVER and a few are completely incompetent. Hardly ever have people bagging groceries or only one for all lanes. Need to hire more and train better. read more

I stopped shopping here. It's the closest grocery to my home, but I've found moldy bakery goods, moldy cheese, and expired jarred products so often I just don't trust them any more. The first time I reported moldy muffins, corporate sent me a gift card to cover the purchase. The second time I took them back to the store, but the service counter refused to contact either the store manager or bakery manager. She just reversed the charge from my card. They obviously don't care about food safety and quality. I now shop farther west on Watson. And I'm much happier. read more

Maximum 3 customers can wait for the cashier because their shelves are nose to nose to the cashiers. Not enough room to stand in lines.
