i have been a customer of Schoettler Tire since 2020 and always enjoyed their good customer service. although recently there was a very unusual situation with the sales reps and mechanics there. i brought them a dodge van had i needed alignment, but it turned out the suspension needed to be rebuilt. after i was informed of this, i was told they could do the work and gave me a price. luckily when i bought this van, it came with extra parts and i decided to rebuild it on my own. a couple of weeks later i brought my van back but my mechanic had the control arms set too far out, so the shop rejected the alignment. although upon picking my van up, i noticed a loose nut on the driver side control arms and was told "it was stripped and they found it that way" i believed them and took van back home to fix it. after fixing it, i discovered that the upper control arm nut was not stripped. i tightened it down myself without issue (weird) also, i noticed my new ball joint was ripped (like they stabbed it with a pickle fork?) so after noticing these things, i did not make a big deal of it , and brought my van back so they could finally do my alignment. i asked to speak with the mechanic who would align my car, just so i could clarify what my mechanic and i fixed, so that he could align it successfully now. here's the weird part... after accepting my vehicle again without issue, i headed home (30 min away) when i almost get home the shop calls me back and accuses me and my mechanic of accusing their mechanic (frankie) of leaving the nut on the control arm loose. we did not accuse him or antagonize him in any way. so, then they told me they did not feel comfortable working on my car and wanted me to take my car elsewhere. in summary, i think what happened here was the mechanic frankie knew that we knew he left hardware loose on my van and also he did not want to adjust the control arms himself (we did it in 45 minutes. it was just 2 bolts on each side, and you push them in towards the center of the car). then management realized this and thought it was a liability, so they decided to inconvenience me by rejecting my car completely. this was a very unprofessional way to handle the situation. if they did not want to do it they could have told me that when i arrived and i would have just gone across the street. i tried speaking with one of the guys at the front desk to rectify the situation but he was stubborn and was not willing to listen to what i was saying. all in all, i think frankie is not a good mechanic and i think what is worse is that the management lets him work there. ill never shop there any more. read more

I've been coming to Schoettler tire ever since I moved to Madera Ranchos a few years ago. Literally everything I have has gone to these great folks here. I've had tires done on a travel trailer, cargo trailer, commuter car, and truck. Not to mention my wife had a flat tire in her new car and they patched it. Prices were even comparable to Costco. Needed tires for my commuter and got Toyo's for about the same price as what Costco was offering. Plus they rotate them every 5-6k miles. Great customer service, friendly, and quick service. Thank you! Ohh and not to mention you can just pull up and have the service done. Of course if they have the specific tires you want. No appointments needed like most shops. Drove over a pothole and cut both left tires. I thought it was going to cost me an arm and a leg, but wait, I bring the car to Schoettler Tire and they tell me I got road hazard protection on the tires I purchased from them and so they gave me two new tires for free! If that's not good service, I don't know what is. Oh yea, They gave me a ride to work and back. They had me back on the road in no time and without a hole in my pocket. read more

I have been coming here since the early 80s, my first set of rims and tires for my first car was from them. The guys in the shop and sales floor are all great, never have had a bad experience with them. I took my Tahoe to them today due to some road noise and thought a wheel alignment whould do the trick but they found a bad wheel bearing, that was my fear but I kind of knew it was the problem. My daughters car was in need what I thought was just tire alignment but it was diagnosed as needing suspension parts that had to be replaced before the alignment was to be performed. Although it was a disappointment, I felt the tech had my best interest in his recommendations. As soon as the parts are in I will return to this facility to do the alignment. read more

We took our truck here after the wheel bearing broke, driving down Herndon Ave in Fresno. It felt like I ran over 1,000 pine cones and was super scary! We live in Fresno and still haven't found a good place/people we can trust completely to take our cars to for issues like this so my in laws recommended Schoettler Tire since they have been taking their vehicles to them for 30+ years. The people at Schoettler were so professional and always communicated with us what was going on and what needed to be done. They worked quickly and we were able to pick up the truck on a Monday after taking it in on a Saturday. Took my vehicle in for a 4 tire replacement. Was advised that one wheel was damaged. I headed to the location to go check it out and when I arrived the tires were already installed. I thought okay no problem. Fast forward to the next morning my tire pressure is low. Turns out my wheel was bent and leaking air and needed to be replaced. So here I am on a Sunday trying to find a place that has a replacement wheel. Very disappointed in their form of communication. If the wheel was not reusable they should have not installed it. I would've had no problem paying for a new one. To top it off the employee driving my car damaged it with another vehicle. Will be going back to sort things out on Monday, but that will probably be my last time doing any services at this location. read more

I am a retired Army wheeled vehicle mechanic. Made an appointment here for my F250 4x4 diesel with 200k hard miles on it for a well deserved front end rebuild. Truck was hunting and wandering and had "death wobble" from worn suspension components. Monday morning. Walked in and was acknowledged by a "what do you need?" from counter guy. Told him I was here for my appointment for my quarter million mile truck and badly worn front end. He just says "gimme the keys" and was off to park my truck in a stall. Now here is the real problem here. In order to properly diagnose this vehicle, a minimum of 10 or 15 min should be required to inspect, requiring a short road test, and placing vehicle on lift and "crow barring" multiple axis points on the suspension and steering components. Now as I watched from afar, a 19-20 something year old greenhorn literally spent all of about 2 minutes looking under the truck. Did not drive it. Did not even rack it. He then diligently checks his phone to see if he missed any calls, and then proceeds to park the truck by the front lobby window as if to say get in, time to go. Here is where I got frustrated and insulted- the "tech" and shifty counter guy then proceed to explain "oh, there nothing wrong with your truck. We couldnt find anything." Flabbergasted, I state that it wanders, has audible pops and clunks, and proclaimed it needed a road test but then shifty counter guy stops me from talking and actually states to me: "might be your motor mounts going bad".. the oldest autoshop BS line in the book. I can handle rudeness at the dang tire shop on a Monday morning in Madera, I get it.. but negligence paired with incompetent mechanic is bad for biz, as I wouldn't even have them plug my tire here. Perhaps polishing tailpipes would be better suited. read more

Ran over a screw in the Chukchansi parking lot in Coarsegold after gambling. I have a Corvette with no spare and run flat tires. We called our local tire guy and he said we could drive 50 miles at no more than 50 mph and then would have to get it fixed. We weren't sure where to take the car and were out in the middle of nowhere. The closest town was Madera and my husband found Schoettler Tire on yelp... We called and they said they could fix.
