We stayed at the Schooner Landing on an Interval International exchange. We had read the reviews and were leery, but decided to go anyway. The resort is in decline due to the settling of the ground where the club house and pool are located. Both were closed and off-limits. The ground to the beach is sinking so the horseshoe pit, playground and picnic are is tilted and not usable. They also have a couple junk boats on the property near the path to the beach. I am including a couple photos of the sinking ground where the club house is located. The condo itself was comfortable and ok. The carpet was in need of cleaning and a couple blinds had missing/broken vanes. The one worry I had was there is only 1 smoke detector for the entire townhouse unit!! And it looked yellow like it was 20+ years old. And despite having a gas furnace and 2 gas fireplaces, there are no carbon monoxide detectors. I guess due to lack of funds for maintenance, these items are not installed, but should be for guest safety. I feel sorry for the owners as the future of this resort is uncertain in my mind. I don't know how they can build a replacement club house, pool, etc. if the ground is still settling. We won't be retuning. read more

Unfortunately it appears Schooners Landing hasn't improved much since my last review. Notice I still go there? Yes, I know what to expect, and I pay for what I get. It's a deteriorating 3 star resort that needs a lot of cash infusion before deterioration accelerates with a recession. The "front" building closest to the ocean has been demolished due to beach erosion. Even the rec center, pool, and check-in area I think is going to be razed. Look at the paved parking area near the west side of the resort and you see evidence of serious erosion. A temporary trailer has been brought in for guests to check in. Feel bad for the owners, but don't feel too bad. The exterior of this resort looks like timeshare owners have simply given up. It appears no one wants to pay any maintenance money. The Pacific Ocean won. Everywhere you look, paint is peeling off the white trim, rust from the siding nails, rotted posts, deck uneven and warped. The exterior siding needs pressure washing. 2 of the 3 plastic deck chars were cracked. (see the photos) This unkept look isn't new. It's been on-going for many years. Honestly, how costly is it to pressure wash the siding a few times a year? This alone tells me something internal with Schooners isn't right. Also look at owners trying to sell their condos there. The interior of our room was very good this time, and other than a dated wet bar it's been updated. The interior is on par with any Worldmark interior. It's early 80s architecture, lots of interesting corners and angles with a loft that overlook the living room. I'm therefore updating from 2 to 3 stars. With this said, if you value the interior of your room, our last stay was very nice. But as far as on-site activities, and the overall horrible deterioration that's been on-going for many years, it appears the owners have simply given up. read more

We've stayed at Schooner Landing twice this year, May and August. Both times were at the benefit of my parents timeshare options, so we got a really deal on price and this review doesn't factor in the retail rate someone may pay to stay here (which I don't know what that is). The units are amazingly outdated in decor, though comfortable and have the amenities you'd need however are pretty basic. Our first stay was in a two-bedroom (two floors) and the second was in a one-bedroom. Though smaller, I much preferred the layout of the one-bedroom, even with its comically large, empty feeling bathroom (for real, I think it may have been bigger than my studio apartment I had in Seattle!). The resort is under construction right now and so the check-in "office" is a trailer. The clubhouse and some amenities were not open both times. Schooner Landing is a bit north of the main town action (which I like) but only about 5 min to the Safeway/Fred Meyer and about 8 min to Nye Beach. However, there is a short trail on property that gives direct beach access so that's a win! read more

The amenities listed are not available. Fecal matter was left in the toilet. The jetted tub did not hold water and when we added bubbles for our kid shaved pubic hair was found and the fire place was not working order and we were not told this apond booking. There is not sauna nor is there an indoor pool. If you are looking for an outdated, musty smelling, no hot water for a bath, soft spots in bathroom and kitchen flooring with possible black mold- this is the place for you. read more

Saw the reviews but booked anyway. I'm so glad we did. The room we have is a one bedroom with a loft, kitchen, 2 bathrooms with a jacuzzi tub on one of them, giant living room area with a fireplace, and even though the building is behind another building ( @ 300 ) there's still quite a nice view of the ocean. I quite honestly don't understand the complaints. One was something about low quality building supplies. I Just think this place is wonderfully rustic. There's a barbecue grill right outside our rental, and there's skylight and high ceilings. Which means there's lots of natural light coming through. The kitchen and dining area is fully stocked with kitchen necessities, (ex: serving plates, glasses and cooking and regular kitchen utensils, coffee maker, toaster, 2 door refrigerator, convection flat top stove and oven, toaster, blender and a dishwasher. Everything was clean and it working condition. There's a cute wet bar with mirror that someone didn't like. I thought it was a good use of space. Theres another one that had complained about their food rotting and not refunded because the fridge broke, but it wasn't clear whether or not it was broken before and they just didn't notice or did they actually asked for a refund, and was able to show the receipt? It's really not the place's fault if you didn't know how to talk to people and clearly express yourself and what it is you desire. If it was me, I would have written a formal complaint and a desired solution with proof of purchase of food, and maybe some pictures of the "wasted food", waited for a reply, followed up, and then see if they mitigate the situation instead of ranting on a review right away. It's only fair to let people know the problem, give them the opportunity to resolve it, then and only then, follow up with the necessary actions. The person behind the desk is probably earning minimum wage, maybe overworked and underpaid, and most likely doesn't have the authority anyway to do anything about it, even if they were able to read people's mind and know exactly what to do for each individual that they encounter. It honestly tells me more about the person complaining than the actual place being complained about. Also, what I find most curious is that there's also a complain about taking out your own trash? Is it just me that does this anyway? What's the big deal? This little action helps save the place money to pay people to take your trash for you and that is how they are able to offer low prices. It's just like how when you put away your own cart at local grocery stores, they won't have to pay people just to take the carts back in the store which means they can lower their prices more often. They aren't asking you to make your bed or wash the towels you use, or even replace the trash bag with a clean one, just take your own trash with you, and trash bins are literally maybe 20 steps (the most 30) away from the door. it is so visible that If you can't find where the bins are when you step out of your rental, there's a high chance that you might need your eyes checked. Honestly, for the price, I will keep choosing this place again and again. And heck yes, I recommend this to anyone. read more

I wouldn't even give this a star! As we got into the house it smelled like someone had cooked crab and then dumped the crab water all over the couch and carpet! The fridge handle and cabinet's had a black patina finish which easily came off with a lysol wipe. The windows had hand and face grease prints all over them and the carpet looked like a mechanic lived there! Mind you we have stayed at Schooners twice now and I have to say that it hasn't stepped up it's cleaning standards during Covid... I would say there is no cleaning standards what so ever! So if your time share holder of this disgusting place so sorry for you.... This place isn't even worth what they charge and your getting it in the rear. read more

I stayed here due to booking with WorldMark. It was a disappointment! The lady at the counter works very hard but failed to put customer service as priority or she is NOT trained! Friendly upon check in but failed to mention to us where to put away the garbage; we need to replenish our own towels, bed sheets etc. There was no kitchen towel or paper towel but when we called for in, it was delivered quickly. The exterior color is bright and pleasant but very run down with broken off sidings and smell of old buildings/furnitures upon entering the unit. Decor is of the 60's and 70's. They r remodelling the office so it was really bad. Counter of the unit and office are "chin dropping design"! They certainly need a better designer! The best thing - maintenance guy is attentive, efficient and very friendly! He even maintain the landscapes which is one of the better parts here. read more

I will not be giving this property another chance, for what I paid for the night I expected better,customer service was not great especially from the girl who checked us out. All I have heard is excuse after excuse as to why things were not ok and made to feel like it is my fault that property appliances did not work. At this point I wouldn't even give your property one star but unfortunately I have to so I can post this. read more
