This is a review for Schwan's Fozen Foods Delivery Service. I recently spotted the Schwan's truck in the parking lot of my fitness club. I saw the driver outside. I stopped to chat with him and ask about whether or not I could purchase some items on the spot, and save myself a trip to the grocery store. Anything I can do to have a little more downtime is valued. Usually purchasing Schwan's food is a member-driven service, and you have to sign up online, using the app, or with the driver. Schwan's has a delivery route that comes to your home every other week. I didn't know they serviced Ramona, so I was wondering if he would make an exception and let me buy something right off the truck. The driver replied that he would be happy to sell me anything off the truck I needed, and handed me a catalog. We used to have twice monthly Schwan's delivery when I lived in Arizona about 10 years ago, and hadn't yet seen their signature yellow trucks on the road in recent years here in San Diego County, so I didn't know they were still around. I took a look at the catalog and found their prices incredibly reasonable (sometimes even better than the grocery store) and their quality meats and seafood had not changed. Both prices and quality of food were certainly favorable, considering they deliver to your door. I picked out a few items and the driver immediately took out a large padded freezer bag and loaded it with six ice packs before sliding the items in the freezer bag and sealing it up for me. Since I wasn't signed up as a route customer, this was very thoughtful. He advised me the food in the padded bag with the cooler packs (both mine to keep) would stay frozen for at least five hours. He said, "so enjoy your lap swim and take your time!" Knowing I didn't have to hurry right from the club to the grocery store at the end of the day allowed me to take my time. Not only did I have a good work out, but I had time for a soak and a steam before heading home to animal chores and fixing dinner. Just having that extra hour was awesome. And the items I purchased were cooked quickly, so it save me time on dinner prep as well. The driver said he has a local route, and if I sign up on the website using my zip code, I will automatically appear on his route. I would recommend this service and use it again. The driver accepts debit or credit cards for payment, and I can simply order online (using the app or the website). I set the delivery date and then my card is charged automatically when the items are dropped off. Every week they have different items that are on special, just like a grocery store. I think my favorite purchases this week were the quarter pound burgers and green beans. They were perfectly formed bright green whole beans, fresh tasting and priced well. I received three packs of green beans in one sack (4 servings in each individual bag or 12 servings total) for just$6.49. The beans can be microwave-steamed in their high-quality vellum packaging, ready in 5 minutes. The quarter pound burgers (8 count for $15) were fat and juicy, and grilled up perfectly. The Monterey Jack Turkey Burgers looked great to and were 6 count for $13. Plus they had these darling Chicken Pot Pies that we're perfect for the cold snap we got over Christmas (4 count for $10.49). They were generously sized and all I had to do was make a salad to pair with them for dinner; just heat and eat. Lastly, they had a number of dessert items. We don't usually keep desserts in the house (you know why, right?!) so this was a fun treat for the holidays. We chose double chocolate ice cream bars (10 count) for $10.49. They were just like the Häagen-Dazs ice cream bars with the hard chocolate coating, but at a fraction of the price. We would get those again for sure. All in all, we were pleased with both service and quality, as well as not having to go to the grocery store for these items. We would enjoy the delivery service periodically. Some items are priced higher than a grocery store but less than eating out, with the convenience of restaurant-quality foods delivered to your door. Other items are priced very competitively, but still have a high-quality. The driver couldn't be more professional and courteous. He didn't try to sell me on any products or bend my ear about weekly specials. I read in the catalog there is also a rewards program, were you receive 5% back on every purchase, to use on future orders. If you're willing to take the time to browse the catalogue and find things that suit your household, budget and dining style, I would recommend Schwan's food delivery service. I have been a Schwanns customer for years. I moved to Southern California from Northern California. I had my entire family using Schwanns prior to grocery delivery becoming a thing. I've had the worst experience over the last 5-weeks after years of good service and great drivers. I pray that they record all customer calls on the system because the disrespectful person in customer service whom I just spoke with was so nasty. She refused to give her name and hung up on me when I asked to speak to a supervisor. I've got my email confirmations, my text confirmations, all of which I offered to send to her after sh insists my order disappeared. I have standing orders! They're so antiquated she says "You can't send anything because we don't have email so that won't help me it shows you don't have any orders. So do you want it January 6th or not"! Who speaks like that? Save your time and get what you pay for. Go with a Insta Cart which delivers to you within an hour, they're always respectful and they go to whatever store you want even Costco. I'm in shock. I just got home and will now not have my Holiday dinner but now have to scramble. They've now lost my family, my clients, both of my businesses and everyone I know. Use Instacart or Amazon. I will be on a mission to ensure there is never a Schwanns truck in my neighborhood or at my place of business any longer. Each person I spoke with before now was very apologetic but this rude shameful woman was awful. Businesses don't realize the people you allow to represent your business can make it or break it. There was nothing like looking out the window as a stoned teenager and seeing that ugly yellow and split pea soup colored truck on the street. Mobile refrigerated goodness. My mother owned the only nail salon in Lakeside, we monopolized that bitch, so she was always busy and shit. She would have me go online to buy some groceries. I would hop onto the computer and after 6 minutes of a noise so freaking ear piercing it would make my dog, Dinner, cry and howl... I would be online. Thanks AOL 2.0! Schwan's is most famously known for their Ice Cream sold in quarts and gallons. Ice cream bars, ice cream sandwiches, popsicles, drumsticks, and sorbets. They have these frozen drink concentrates that would put your grandmother's lemonade to shame. My favorite was the blue raspberry flavor. So good! They have potpies, pastas, breads, crabcakes, hot wings, pigs in a blanket, pizzas, pies, cakes, cobblers, literally everything you would be able to find in the frozen section of the grocery store is online or in their catalog. I have no idea how my mom didn't realize I smoked copious amounts of weed as a teenager. The crap ordered, the quantity I ate, and how quickly I ate it. I had to be high off of my ass! So yea, I ate quite a bit of frozen food as a teenager. At least it came in a fancy truck and brought right to my front door. People who say those that live in Lakeside are trashy can suck it! I love this program! The food tastes amazing and it is delivered right to your front door. Joe is the delivery guy and he is so polite and friendly. I added the app on my phone so it makes ordering that much easier. I would highly recommend trying it out. There is no minimum monthly order required or how often you place an order. The driver will always leave a reminder tag on my door with a catalogue without pressure to remind me of the dates he will be by next. read more
