I am fed up with doctors that think they can boss their patients around! When he works for Advanced he doesn't represent Sutter. He just happens to work for Sutter and Advanced. The real truth emerges. As a result of the fluid restrictions and simply awful food I lost a significant amount of weight. At Sutter Roseville Medical Center, the 2nd rehab facility I resided in and the assisted living facility I currently live at I was never subjected to fluid restrictions! On 7/10/26 I received an completely unwanted phone call from the administrator of this dump of a facility! That's the reason for the 1-star rating. Case closed forever.

My father spent several months at North Pointe to complete his therapy after being in two other…read morenursing homes that were not the right fit for his needs. What truly set North Pointe apart was their willingness to accept him when no one else would, due to behavioral challenges related to his illness. This facility gave our family hope at a time when we felt like we were running out of options. I vividly remember being at the hospital for the fourth time in just one month after more heartbreaking experiences at other nursing homes. During that stay, the nurse manager connected with North Pointe. She came back and said, "The first thing they told me was, 'Bring him in...let's make him comfortable.'" From that moment on, we felt like we had finally found the right place. They welcomed my dad with open arms, and the cycle of hospital admissions stopped. It was a huge weight lifted. From day one, the staff at North Pointe was exceptional. We were comforted to see the same nurses, CNAs, and therapists each day ...people who knew my father by name and took the time to understand both him and our family. Their consistency and compassion made all the difference. I especially want to thank the CNAs, nurses, and rehab team. They are incredibly experienced with patients living with Alzheimer's, dementia, or recovering from serious illness or injury. One thing that really stood out to us was how diverse the staff was. There were team members from many different cultural backgrounds, and many of them spoke Spanish;including nurses, CNAs, front desk staff, and even members of the cleaning crew. This made a big difference in creating a welcoming, inclusive environment where communication felt more natural and respectful, especially for patients and families who speak Spanish as a first language. The facility does a great job of helping residents stay active and engaged. The backyard area is one of the highlights...patients are able to walk outdoors safely, surrounded by large shade trees and grassy areas. There's even a big birdcage that many of the residents enjoy. Inside, there's also a piano, and music is played. It's comforting to know that patients aren't just confined to their rooms...they have opportunities to socialize and enjoy the outdoors in a secure setting. While the front porch offers a nice place to visit and provides some privacy, it gets hot during the summer. Unfortunately, there's no designated indoor area for families to sit with loved ones privately, which made daily visits uncomfortable at times. The backyard is more of a shared space, and you'll often be surrounded by other residents. That felt a little intrusive in the beginning, but I quickly grew fond of many of the residents over time...they meant no harm, and it became a familiar, even comforting, part of our routine. The rooms are usually shared between three residents. That can be a challenge, but the staff works hard to match roommates based on compatibility. Everything is gated, which is a huge comfort if your loved one has memory issues or a tendency to wander. Safety is clearly a top priority. That said, the facility really needs renovations. The closets, dining room, and especially the bedding are outdated. We noticed torn linens more than once. It's time for ownership to invest in this space. Our seniors deserve not only excellent care...but an environment that reflects their dignity and worth. North Pointe has the heart and the team. With updated rooms, furniture, and better indoor common areas, it could become truly exceptional. Staffing was also stretched at times. While every staff member we interacted with was dedicated and hard-working, it was clear they were doing more than their fair share. They need more support from leadership. The social work team was also understaffed and could improve in communication and follow-up. I'm sharing all of this because I know how difficult it is to choose the right nursing home. We relied on honest reviews when we made our decision... and a lot of places had a lot of fake reviews....and I'm so grateful we chose North Pointe. It's not perfect, but what matters most...the staff are truly outstanding. They cared for my father with patience, skill, and compassion, and they gave our family peace during an incredibly stressful time. Thank you, North Pointe.

AKUA…read morecame highly recommended by an addiction therapist and without them knowing it, is the same rehab facility the addict chose on their own after days of searching! AKUA has multiple facilities across the state of California. The Terra Loma facility in Sac County is an all men's facility aimed towards first responders with the most amazing, kind, and knowledgeable team including a full medical staff of nurses and therapists. The person I know that is currently here is nearing completion of their 30 days in-house, and AKUA has helped them to set up a continued care virtual program for 5-hours a day after release. I cannot recommend this place enough! Most importantly it's where the addict of my story wanted to go as I seek Al-Anon treatment and counseling on my own. Drop off was the most beautiful moment... between the addicts decision to seek help, and the serenity felt upon arrival I knew we'd picked the right place. Thank you, AKUA. Keep up the great work!

Not the right environment for me…read more I went to AKUA hoping for a safe, supportive environment where I could focus on my recovery. Unfortunately, my experience was very different from what I expected. One of my biggest concerns was the sleeping situation. Because I had a seizure at the beginning of my recovery in 2022 I was placed on a box spring and mattress on the floor. I understand the need to take safety precautions, but the setup was uncomfortable and made it difficult to get the quality sleep I needed. I also had significant issues with my roommate and the sleeping environment. I normally use a fan and white noise to sleep, but my roommate was uncomfortable with the fan, white noise, and an open window. I tried to find compromises, including ordering earplugs. Instead of feeling like I had a reasonable, comfortable place to recover, I felt like I was constantly trying to meet everyone else's needs while getting very little sleep myself. I was told that moving me upstairs to a different room was going to happen, but by the time that was finally being discussed, I had already reached the point where I decided I needed to leave. I also had concerns about how basic personal-care items were handled. Some things felt unnecessarily restrictive, and it was frustrating to have to explain why ordinary items were needed. To be fair, there were staff members who were kind and supportive, and when I experienced a panic attack while waiting for discharge, a staff member took the time to walk with me and help me calm down. I appreciated that. Ultimately, though, the overall environment wasn't a good fit for me. Recovery is difficult enough without feeling exhausted, uncomfortable, and unable to get adequate sleep. I left AKUA and returned home rather than continuing in an environment that I felt was making things harder for me. I'm sharing this because people considering treatment deserve to know that the experience can vary greatly from what is presented in the promotional material. I would encourage anyone considering AKUA to ask very specific questions about sleeping arrangements, roommate situations, personal belongings, personal care items, and what happens if the living arrangement isn't working for you. I lasted 5 nights and on my 6th morning I was over it. I can do better at home and sleep in a real bed in my real home. I never even talked to a counselor or a doctor during my 5-day stay.

Rehabilitation services are excellent. The nursing staff don't just do a job, they care about every resident. Sarah the assistant administrator helped me navigate paperwork and help with medical paperwork. She has been amazing and supportive as this is all new. Lets talk about there secret weapon and heavy hitter is Lucy Zepeda. Lucy has helped me navigate medical paperwork, my father's pension paperwork-website issues, medical insurance etc.... Lucy is absolutely a key player in this team. Not only can she handle my direct approach but is able to explain all the paperwork associated with all of the things that happened. Without her I would still be trying to tread water with it all. I can say she has taught me and absolutely been everything I needed. Thank you Lucy. This place doesn't even deserve 1 star in all honesty. They truly don't give a rats ass about their…read moreresidents. It started off okay, about 2.5 to 3.0 stars and from there it went down hill FAST! I'm a type 1 diabetic and I would have to go without eating anything sometimes because all they would serve me was foods drowning in carbs and sugars. I begged and pleaded for a while then after that I had to start yelling and screaming and be the squeaky wheel to get anything done. Their social workers suck. If you don't keep on them they'll blow you off. As a matter of fact, Social Security told me that they did my forms wrong and I have to start all over again. So now I have to wait 200+days for my SSDI. What I was admitted for which was an infection in my leg was never taken care of and I was discharged in the same condition that I started. Most of the CNAs and Nurses are terrible. They barely speak English and they don't understand you most of the time. One time they pricked my pinky to test my blood sugar and it bled so bad it ran all the way down to my elbow. When I asked the nurse for a band aid she told me that she didn't have one! When I asked how in the HELL does a nurse in a Skilled Nursing Facility doesn't have a band aid she told me that they were locked up and only the MOD had the key and she was not going to be in until 8am. This happened at 6am. When I asked how come there isn't a first aid kit available she shrugged her shoulders and gave me a look of cluelessness. Totally deer in the headlights. They have an Asian resident that goes up and down the hall screaming and does nothing about it so don't plan on any peace and quiet. My roommate fell out of his bed once and was screaming bloody murder begging for help and I had to crawl out of my bed into my wheelchair and go scream at the nursing station to get him help. Their physicians suck. Lazy and dumb. I had to go to the emergency room twice in three months because they are that bad. It's pretty bad when you ride in the ambulance and the EMTs apologize for the shitty help your getting. The Emergency room says they're known as Shitty Creek Post Acute not City Creek Post Acute. I haven't even begun to scratch the surface of the nightmares I have had to endure. Now that I have been discharged 8 days early, they won't take my calls and I need them to transfer my prescriptions to my pharmacy and they said that they would pay the pro rated amount which I'm positive that is why they are dodging my calls. I'm out of certain medicine now and have no way of taking my insulin. I'm going to call my regular physician and see if he can get my prescriptions refilled for me and sent to my pharmacy. So much for getting the appropriate and professional help. The place needs a full audit and CHHSA needs to be notified and also the Ombudsman. This is no laughing matter. Zero out of 5 stars.
