Consistent, professional and good value. I've gotten my hair cut from Mr. Yong about once a month for the past year, and every time I've been, he has spent almost the same amount of time and care with the same results on my hair. The cost has been $20 each time. I personally don't care if the guy cutting my hair remembers me or not or talks when I get my hair cut. I do put a premium on a consistently good result and that's what I get everytime I go. The inside is a bit trendy with a greeting table made out of varying lengths of wooden 2x2's, tv's hanging from the ceilings broadcasting Korean music videos or breakdancing competitions, and random colored stones all over the place. In general, I was satisfied with their services but this one hairdresser, Jason, ruined my whole experience. At first, I felt so unwelcome by this attitude and I could definitely feel being judged by how I looked. Second, my opinion was not reflected at all by this person. I usually go in and see Choi, who was no longer there. Everyone looked 16 and straight out of cosmetology school. I was just in July 29 and had a bad experience. I typically can get a wash and cut/flat iron for $35. Today when I went in there a little purple haired girl said that I would have to pay fifty for same service less the hair cut!. My hair is short with a few tracks sewn in, but non the less, is the same hair and style that I have had when I have always gone in! Different stylist! She attempted to flat iron my hair when it was still damp. I told her it was still damp and she said only a little bit, but continued to do it. She was in such a hurry to get to her next patron. Kyle does my hair for the past year or two and I never let anyone else does it. He does great on men's hair. Rarely do I ever update a review more than once, so this is definitely one for history. After my horrible, horrible hair cut by Park who decided that day he was going to give me a mullet and uneven bangs no matter how many pictures I showed him, I asked dear hubby to call the shop and speak to a manager since he is fluent in Korean. The first call, he spoke to "Lee" who was apologetic and said that he would personally fix my hair and to give him a call once we came back in town from our Labor Day trip. Yesterday, I reminded hubby to call the shop and set up an appointment for me but the 2nd manager he spoke to said that their "procedure" was to have the original stylist recut the hair but under the supervision of a manager. Ok, I get it, you want the stylist to learn on the job training - cool. But isn't that what hair cutting school was for? Did he not get enough practice on willing victims during his time there? And now you're saying that I HAVE to go back to the person who messed up my hair in the first place? Once hubby told me the deal, I said no way. There is just no way in this life or the next that I will let that stylist come near me with scissors in hands ever again. Hubby then relayed this to the manager on the phone and basically a shouting match ensued. She snidely asked why I wouldn't pick up the phone and call her even after hubby explained that there was a huge language barrier and he was trying to help. She didn't offer any explanation as to why the first manager failed to explain this "procedure" to us the first time. The procedure is completely backwards. For instance, if you were scheduled for knee surgery and the doctor accidentally operated on the wrong leg, you wouldn't go back to him to fix the problem - you'd find someone else who is more competent to do it! Besides, for their "procedure" to work, I would have to regrow about 4 inches of hair because i just don't have that much more to sacrifice to their little science experiment. I found that this unwillingness to help a customer that you mistreated extremely unprofessional and just am appalled at it. Originally I had wanted to get my haircut at Emily J but they were booked so I headed to Scissorhands. I've had several haircuts here before and I've loved every single cut. However, the one thing I always take away from here is that I absolutely hate having to interact with the receptionists and some stylists. They've made me feel very uncomfortable during almost every visit. Today I had my hair caught in the blow dryer and I saw the stylist try to discreetly snip that off. No apology or look of remorse. Instead the two stylists drying my hair laughed. I've also been told on another visit that I should just get a haircut and no wash/dry since they were busy. I noticed that they had multiple empty seats. I asked if the price would be reduced a bit and the receptionist said they would charge the same price regardless. At that time the price was $40. Another moment that really annoyed me was when I mentioned I was surprised they had lowered the price. The female receptionist turned to her co-worker to whisper what I just said and they laughed. It definitely made me regret giving a big tip. At the end of the day if you're willing to trade in what could've been a nice experience for a $35 cut then that's all on you. I'm not a big fan of Korean hair salons bc every time I go there and tell them what to do, they always do something different. I don't know if it is the language barrier or my poor Korean skills. However, when I went to Scissor hands I went to the owner Tony. He is the best in cutting hair and giving you a great look for your face type. I told him I wanted layers and long bangs. So he did just what I asked for. Then I told him to cut more bangs but he said that for my round face more bangs wouldn't look good. I trusted him since he was a professional. Then he curled my hair with a curling iron for a style. Too bad I didn't have anywhere to go after wards, bc my hair looked so good and no one to show it off to except my bf. However he really did like it curly bc I always wear it straight. He liked it so much that I got it styled the next day for a wedding we were attending. The style cost the same as the cut. Since Tony is the owner the cut is $35. That is really good bc I paid $50+ at a salon at Perimeter. The other hair stylists are $25. You have to call for an appointment for Tony. He is really busy. He is also talkative. I like having a relationship with my stylists. The salon is also very trendy. It also has computers so you can surf the internet while waiting. OMG Thank you Addy C. for recommending me this trendy salon! It is located right next to suno, across from Hmart in the same plaza. It's a bit tricky to get into the parking lot, but once you make it, you will be so happy you came! I came with no one in mind to cut my hair and ended up with Yong. He's handsome, very handsome, with dashing hair and a charming smile, a bit too good looking to be a stylist! They have some hairstyle magazines, all Asian friendly styles , but don't worry, I am sure they work with all types of hair and textures! Yong then takes me to the shampoo station, and I am blown away.. it literally look like a massage table with a sink attached to it.. so instead of slouching up, or being in an awkward position you are laying flat. The shampoo and conditioner smell wonderful, and as I look up to the ceilling, I notice Korean music videos playing.. there are like 5 small Tvs total, Yup.. it's high tech alright, you wont be staring at a ceiling, rather at TVs. It's awesome, and that experience in itself was worth writing about. So I tell Yong I don't like my hair razored and he assured me he will be using scissors. As soon as I sit down, he gentle combs through my hair, asks me where I normally part, and then starts cutting away. I had told him I wanted to keep the length, but to add more layers. He cuts, but is careful to keep the length in the back, but does a beautiful layered cut. He knew I was short on time, pretty much he has a good 40 minutes to cut my hair. So get this, he breaks out in 2 blow dryers in one hand, and starts drying my hair. I was amused, and commented on how I never have seen someone do this. Well he nicely replied that since I was in a rush, he wanted to dry my hair fast. I naturally assumed he was done and was now styling. I told him it looks good, but he swiftly replies he is not done yet. Once my hair was dried, he went back and picked up strands of hair, and rotated his scissors and sliced through the strands with such position it was just fun to watch. He did this throughout my hair, never once was my hair caught in the scissors ( I guess it was just that sharp).. he recommended that I perm my bangs for a gentle side swept, and mentioned it would be like 15.00. If I chose a cut and highlight it was be in the neighborhood of 85.00 for both services. After cutting my hair, dry, he finished it with some hair gloss, and styled it with a straighten iron. My cut looked amazing, and I was so happy with the great results. I will be back for sure. I think I found my stylist in ATL!!! My cut was beautiful, and much less then what I had expected. For you folks that are stuck on being in the "City" like Midtown or Buckhead for a stylist, venture out to this location. You can get a cut and color for the same price as what you would pay for a cut. IF you want a cut alone, you can use the money you save to have some yummy Korean food! I really liked the salon's overall promptness that it had promised. I wanted a fast and beautiful cut, and Yong exceeded my expectations! I will post photos of my hair soon! I've been here three times with two different stylists. The first haircut with Jeff was okay. Then I had a digital perm, costs 200 dollars and turns out HORRIBLE. I have to say that Jeff is a very experienced stylist, and this might have become his shortcoming. (no offense, just telling how i feel) When I told him that I want a perm, he said he does the perm like 20 times in a day. So he went on and assumed that what i want is exactly what he had done to others. He didn't listen to what i want, or custom the perm to different shapes of face/length of hair. He was NOT very GENTLE with my hair either, it really hurts when he curls my hair. The temperature he adjusted for the perm is too high and it almost burned my neck. I thought that the 200 dollar perm would do less harm to my hair, however, it's worse than any other perm i've done before, maybe because of the temperature they choose and the time control. My hair gets VERY dry and fragile. After putting up with the mess for a month, I decided to chop it all off. :( read more

I took Gina C's suggestion and I made an appointment with Toni in advance. Even though I had to wait when I got there, It was worth it. Toni wasn't very talkative but enough to keep me from being bored. I went with my sister and they guy only asked her how she wants it cut in the beginning then if it's okay at the end, no talking in between. We were both very satisfied and will be going back. I've actually been here to cut my hair several times and each time its with a different stylist because they do not stay working there long! Every time I thought I found one that worked for me, she's gone by my next visit. This last cut was the final straw. I had the SAME EXACT experience as Cindy T. I just went in wanting a trim and making it very clear. He just started layering like crazy saying I had too much volume. After he was finished, I, too, had a semi-mullet and hated it. I don't get my hair cut often, but I try and make it count when I do...and I only trust Asian salons with my thick, stick-straight Chinese hair. Jay was my stylist. He is perhaps the only stylist to have truly done what I wanted, which was to keep mmy hair basically the same length while removing weight and split ends. I left looking like a more polished version of my former self, and my head felt about a pound lighter. Seriously, my hair looked almost the same length but he'd removed A LOT of hair, followings instructions to the letter. That is some serious stylist magic. It was also a great price at $30, which included a very relaxing wash and lots of soothingly upbeat kpop in the background. Nothing will ever replace my beloved Headquarter salon in Chicago, but this place is coming pretty damn close. Maybe it's time to trust them with a major chop...or even a perm. read more

I'm literally staring at scissor hands sign in parking spot about to get out at 4:35pm when I get a call that they need reschedule to 7pm. Supposedly there was a booking mistake and someone else was in my same time slot.(meaning a regular came in and they decided to bump me cause I'm a new customer.) I told person I was already outside and he says "oh sorry this lady comes often and you will have to wait awhile." so I canceled whole haircut with them. I would never give someone my business if they don't really want it. They are surrounded by competitors. I called in and a young man answered kindly so I made a same day appointment. I met Kyle and he did such a great job with my hair.
