My long over due review... My search is finally over for a hairstylist who listens to what i want, who gives her honest suggestions, and who doesn't charge $500 to cut and color my hair. Thank you Payton for taking care of me every time I'm there. Payton is seriously a God send. One day, in October i came in to Scissory No.54 to see if anyone was available for a cut and color. Mind you this was at 3:30pm. there was no available on the spot to do my hair but the the receptionist was so pleasant and asked if i wanted to make an appointment for a later time. Because i have never had my hair done here, I was made an appointment with Payton. I am SO happy that she was the chosen one for my hair. I came in with washed out red hair that i got done in Koreatown and paid an arm and a leg form. I walked out with a beautiful trim and naturally colored hair (does that even make sense?). I just loved how natural the color turned out and how Peyton cut my hair just to my liking. She didn't want to change my whole look but i feel like she wanted me to be a better version of me... (does that make sense?) Anyway, Thank you Thank you Thank you Payton for taking care of me when i am there. You have no idea how grateful i am to have found you. Really love this salon. My hair goddess, Adrienne, moved here and I followed her. So glad she picked this salon! You can tell a lot of thought went into the decor. The brick, metal, and wood give it a very warm and upscale feel. It's spacious (8 chairs total) so you don't feel like you're listening to everyone else's appointments. There isn't any personal clutter like you see in some salons that end up looking like little shrines. They sell the Kevin Murphy product line which I swear by to keep my hair long. My boyfriend regularly steals my shampoo and conditioner because he's seen the light too. Only issue is parking - there's not a lot of it. As long as you give yourself a few extra minutes to find a spot, you'll be fine. read more

So tough luck for the women who couldn't wait a whole 5 minutes for her appointment with Payton because; Payton is worth the wait. :) In January after 6 months without my hair being done made an appointment with Payton, who has never my hair before. Well, I was impatient because the appointment was in a week and I was DYING to get my hair done that day. SOOO I went to Ulta. At first, I thought the girl did a good job but a second look, I regretted spending the money and not patiently waiting 5 days. I looked like I had grey hair. Well, I went five days later, met Payton. She was warm, so nice and down to earth. I let her know what happened, and she told me that she was going to fix it. She did! The gray's that the girl at Ulta left me with was gone. Payton warmed up my hair with warmer tones and made me very happy. Forward to two weeks ago. I did it again. I wanted my hair colored and wanted it the day of. ( I know I need to calm down). Well, I called and Payton was available on the next Friday. I work m-f in the valley. It's next to impossible to get a day off so. I waited for 2 weeks! I went in was greeted by Payton. Again, we went over what I wanted and narrowed it down to brighter blond. The end color looks very good. So again, Payton is worth waiting 5 minutes or even two weeks. She's so sweet and down to earth. Happy to say that I found my hair girl and happy she works 5 minutes from where I live. Lesson: Patience is the secret to good hair. read more

Super frustrated! I did a deep dive trying to find a new hair stylist close to home now that we have settled in to SCV. I selected Scissory and Payton from the excellent reviews. Their website gave me the opportunity to schedule on line or so I thought. I called the next morning to confirm the on line appointment and to find out the approximate cost. I was told that my on line appointment did not show and that she was all booked up. I said that I was a new client and asked if Payton would want a consultation appointment. I was told yes and that prices would be discussed ar that time. My appointment for 9:30 and I arrived at 9:20. 1 stylist was present with a client. She asked if she could help and then said that Payton would be in soon. 9:30...nope 9:35....nope My time is as important as the next person. It is disrespectful to be physically late. If you are late to a 1st time consultation how will you be in the future. I left 9:35. I think I spotted Payton strolling in as I was leaving. Very unprofessional! First time client and was beyond pleased with the service and my finished results! I had a cut & color with Shelley and Peyton after searching Instagram pages for stylists in my area. I came from a red color to a beautiful ombré that turned out better than I had anticipated considering what a change I was looking to achieve. Everyone is so sweet, even the owner came by to make sure all of the clients were happy and throughout the whole process they make sure you are comfortable and ask if you'd like coffee. I got my haircut in July of 2018 with Shelley and Peyton assisted her. I was 8months pregnant at the time and was very comfortable. Shelley was so considerate of me and offered bathroom breaks, water, and stretching breaks. My hair looked beautiful, and I can't wait to go back. Megan! Megan! Megan! Is the BOMB I spent years jumping around from stylist to stylist and doing the whole dark to light to red to light and could never find anything that I felt was done correctly. When I found Megan my hair instantly started looking healthier and growing so fast. Her haircuts are the best ever. I have tried places all over Valencia, Hollywood, Sherman oaks and even Mississippi, Texas, Virginia and nothing compares to how well she can cut your hair and shape it to your face! Today was my first time visiting this salon and I loved it! I followed Lauren P. all the way over here from Tarzana because she is soooo good at what she does and it's actually closer to my home. First of all, the salon is so cute. I love the vibe/cleanliness, all the parking spots available right in front, and of course Lauren and her assistant Vanessa are legit! I have been going to them for over 2 years and have always loved my hair cut and blowout! Lauren is one of those rare stylists who actually listens and cuts off only how much you ask for. She also doesn't comment on how damaged, dry, or whatever your hair is. I hate when stylists do that. Instead, she's very helpful, nice, and easy to talk to. Not only is it modern and clean, but Julie, the owner, keeps the supply of hair accessories and products on the cutting edge! There is an ongoing supply of beverages (yes, the GOOD ones too ;) and everyone is super friendly! And here is the most important thing...all the stylists are continually going to classes to keep their knowledge current and on trend. That speaks volumes to me because I want to know my stylist is presenting the most updated knowledge when providing my services. Ok. I adore all these ladies, seriously everyone is so friendly and nice. So I went to Kelly and she is straight up amazing. It had been a while since I cut my mane (since I'm super picky) and I wanted to go lighter (i have extremely dark almost waist length hair). She was spectacular about not cutting too much off and spot on with how long it would take for my hair to process to go lighter. I LOVE THE END RESULT! also, she introduced KEVIN MURPHY hair products that literally have changed my hair game. Life changing lol! Recently moved out here, looking for a stylist to do a pixie cut for an older woman, a cut I've had for years. Made an appointment through their website and mentioned in the email what I needed. Stylist texts me that she's running an hour behind. I show up and wait some more. Finally, she plays with my hair and tells me she can't do it but can probably find a stylist who can. She speaks to two other stylists in the salon, one who's just sitting outside, who both turn me down--maybe I can book something in a couple weeks. Way to get a new client!
