Not a perfect representation, but an honest snapshot on my plate half-way through. haha

Run quickly to Sclafani to try almost anything on their menu. Today's special was the premier of their chopped Itallian (I think that's it's official name). They'd gotten some coverage on a local news show which probably helped fill today's doors, but I've become a regular and they are always busy--but not too busy to have to wait long. The owners are named Rob and Cassandra, both of whom are trained chefs, which means their food is done so well! They bake their freaking bread fresh every single day, and it's wicked good. The chopped sandwich today was so amazing and was way better than some of the ones I've had which seem to dominate reels today. They had some kind of spicy crunchy garlic mayo which was fantastic and didn't overpower the meats. They don't pre-make these or any sandwiches, each made to order, which is so awesomely old-school. Their quality of deli meat and cheese is really exemplary, not grocery store Boar's Head. They have a great, but modestly sized, selection of imported Italian goods including fantastic olive oil, pastas, conservas like anchovies and even caponata! I also urge you to get a made-to-order cannoli, which was absolutely among the best I've ever had. The generous, sweet ricotta filling was thick, but not dense or cloying; we got pistachio and shared one, which was as strategic as slicing a brownie six ways, in the office, to reduce calories. Anyhow, I'm not on the payroll, nor even related, or I'd be there again right now.

    It's the Boloney Sammy!!!

I'm hooked on Boloney Sanwiches.. Yeah i know i spelled it wrong. Particularly ones from Italian Bakery\delis. My alltime fav is Anthony's in Stoneham Boloney and American cheese with Spicy Mustard, Pickles, Onions, Mayo on Scali Bread. I was in search of a replica of this sandwich and stumbled apon this place. They had no Spicy Brown Mustard and no Scali bread, so a roll without the mustard would have to do. The bread's crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside its like .. like , it's like..... It's..... Friggin........... Awesome. It's so damn good I don't want to finish it as they just closed for the day and I can't get another one till tomorrow... I'm posting a picture

I always come here for a Great Italian sub. They are always fresh baked bread and fresh cut deli meats in front of you. Go get one!

What a great sandwich! We stumbled upon this jewel. No frills, great Italian meats, cheeses and bakery items. We will be back.

My favorite bread ever...especially when it's warm from the oven. I have nothing else to say, just that I love their bread.

I just met her, but I felt like I was coming home. I waited for my friend to arrive & a couple bar seats to open up, and there were about two dozen people who came in after me while the wait was predicted to be an hour since most had just been seated, so they left. I wish they waited because it did clear up after about 30-40 minutes, but it was hard to predict on a Thursday at 7:30pm during a random downpour. I would encourage anyone to try The Burn, and to wait if needed. It's updated nicely, a bit cozy yet spacious when you're seated. Jess, our bartender, is also very welcoming and hospitable. I ordered a Gold Rush: ghost tequila, cointreau, pineapple, jalapeño & lime; I recall telling my friend, "this is exactly how I wish all my drinks tasted." I ordered the meatballs appetizer, and they got the haddock sandwich. The fries were excellent, and the meatballs were great. My friend loved their sandwich, fresh local haddock of course. Jess helped me make my decision between 3 options and it was perfect for my tastes and appetite of the evening. gold rush 10/10 meatballs 10/10 The Burn has excellent food & service, an elevated casual vibe, and warm, welcoming service. I always use Yelp to see what is around and this looked like a good option. So glad we stopped! My husband had the swordfish. He said the best swordfish he had the whole trip!!! Nice large piece of fish and he said it had little too much blacking seasoning but he was it was amazing. I could not decide what I wanted because it all looked so good. It was lunch and I really wanted the Risotto. But, I didn't want anything super heavy. Glad I chose it anyway. Holy smokes was it delicious. The risotto was perfectly cooked and not too buttery. I have found Maine loooves their butter & often drown their dishes. This was perfect. The fish was amazing and I definitely over ate!! Thinking back, this was one of my most favorite meals in all of Maine. I still dream of that Risotto.

All 3 of us ordered the egg sandwich. It's cooked egg (like a puck) on 2 slices of plain bread with about 1 teaspoon of cheese that is such a small amount that it doesn't cover most of the egg. That's it. Not enough cheese, no butter, no salt, no pepper. Nothing. They don't even toast the bread. If we had tasked our 6 year old nephew to making us egg sandwiches, this is what he would hand us. My cousins had coffee. One hot and the other cold. Hot reportedly is pretty good and the iced is not very strong. I ordered an iced tea. When iced tea is made fresh from actual tea (a good thing), then sits in the fridge for 6 or 7 days (a bad thing), it gets a very distinctive stale taste and that's exactly what this iced tea had. It was old and stale. I threw it away and since the egg sandwich was so dry, I pulled a bottle of water I had in my beach tote to wash it down. My cousin asked the friendly staffer (super friendly, actually, so a shout out to them) for some salt and this turned into a task. She had to ask someone else and that person had to go off somewhere to get some from a plastic container. If you're going to serve unseasoned food, have salt available, please. I ordered a croissant, which was OK and my other cousin ordered a blueberry slab dessert that was smothered in so much icing that it was sickeningly sweet. We joked that eying it from the side, the icing was thicker than the pastry itself. One of us grabbed a knife and tried to scrape some off to no avail. It fell apart, none of us wanted any more and we tossed most of it. I like to support small businesses, but this was not a good experience for us.
