I DO NOT recommend packing out with this company, sucks we had UAB delivered today and had a few things missing. We got taken advantage of & this is a military families worst nightmare. Thankfully I took pictures of my kitchen appliances day of pack out & day or delivery. What're the odds you guys send one guy out to do UAB because your other guy couldn't get on base & now my stuff is missing . Please do better. SUCKS we went out of our way and tipped this guy CASH . Based on my experience with moving, having relocated across the country thirteen times, I am writing this review to provide information for others considering this company. The cost of this move, including packing, shipping, and storage, was just over $18,000. For this amount, certain service standards are anticipated. Here is a summary of the main issues encountered during the process: * The job was initially scheduled from Monday to Wednesday but was rescheduled the prior week to Tuesday through Wednesday, with the reasoning given that less time was needed. * Our requirement was to complete loading by 5PM on Wednesday due to a closing deadline. We were assured this would be met, but loading concluded at 8:30PM. The driver stated they were unaware of the deadline. * The packers lacked sufficient boxes on Tuesday and returned Wednesday to complete packing, which finished around 11AM with assistance from the loading team. * Since the items were going into storage, crates were required. The driver did not have enough allocated crates, necessitating three trips to the storage facility and contributing to missing the load deadline. * Delivery was scheduled for the 18th, with goods expected to leave storage on Monday the 14th. However, the driver reached out on Sunday the 13th to attempt delivery on the 14th, three days before the closing date. * Payment was requested by credit card, prior to delivery, rather than the direct billing arrangement previously discussed. * The day before the planned delivery, after payment was made, I was informed that three crates had been left behind due to truck size limits. An estimated time of arrival was being determined. * It was communicated that nothing "critical" was missing from these crates; however, several items such as furniture, silverware, bed hardware, clothing, and televisions were not delivered initially. No compensation was offered for these missing items, and replacement costs totaled approximately $400. * The missing crates arrived twelve days after the initial delivery. * The appointment for final delivery of the last three crates was set for 3PM, but the truck arrived at 7PM and unloading ended at 9PM. * Customer service noted there would be a "gesture of goodwill" due to these challenges, which consisted of the driver offering to assist with unpacking at 9PM. It is clear this company lacks the basic standards of professionalism. Communication was disorganized and scattershot. Questions about scheduling and logistics were met with either vague platitudes or outright indifference. What little post-move "customer service" existed was nothing but lip service. My complaints were ignored or brushed aside, and no effort was made to rectify the situation. After thirteen moves, I can say unequivocally that this was by far the most disastrous moving experience I have ever endured. If you value your time, your possessions, and your sanity, avoid this company at all costs. There are many moving services out there--choose any other. read more

I'm moving from Texas and SM&S was sub-contracted by the government to pack and transport my belongings. Overall, they did a great job. The crew of Joe (or Jake?) W., Armando W., and Anthony H. did an excellent job of safely packing my belongings, and were in and out of my house in about 90 minutes. They definitely worked as a good team, and asked questions whenever they noticed something g needing my attention. Though they arrived and started a little later than scheduled (about an hour), once going they were incredibly quick and detailed, including with the inventory sheets. Everyone wore their masks (albeit incorrectly) during the stay due to COVID-19 protocol, and cleaned up after themselves as they were leaving. Polite/courteous and friendly, I recommend this company the next time you need help moving. read more

They stole a large amount of my tools (I watched the tools get packed at origin) and dropped razor blades that my children almost stepped on after swapping their box cutter with my own. It reasonable to believe this happened after I requested an unpack of the boxes because all but two movers began complaining and throwing things into a pile. Many things are broken. Be careful shipping a a dryer and washer with them, as my dryer was broken and you may have to pay out of pocket like I did. Please avoid if you don't want your things stolen and if you have to use them, do not request an unpack or else it will give them an opportunity to steal from you. read more

We got a call the day prior to being packed indicating their arrival time. They were very punctual and showed up ready to work. They were very quick but also took the time to consult me or my husband when they saw something that we may not want to pack. We have three small children so as you can imagine, they require a lot of extras. They took the time and extra care to set aside things the kids may need during our trip. They also finished well ahead of schedule, packed everything meticulously, did not leave any mess, we're super respectful and polite in our home, and explained everything to me. Military Move. I initially posted a glowing review of Scobey, but now that we have finally received our Household Goods Shipment, I am less than impressed. They stole all of our switch, Nintendo DS games, and some of my husbands PlayStation games. my daughter also left a change jar of approximately $37 in her room and they emptied that too. Not only that, but all of our TV wall mounts are missing, my silverware is missing, mixing bowls are missing, my kitchen aide stand mixer - gone, home pod- gone. Going away gifts from throughout our military careers, not packed with anything around them and destroyed. Worst packing and HHG shipment of my entire 17 1/2 years in the military. If you receive Day Transfer or Scobey as your movers or packers, ask for someone else. read more

Disclaimer: I'm military & had no choice in who moved me. The military chose the lowest bidder (in other words, the cheapest one) The crew that moved me into my new home started out careful & respectful of my things. Towards the end of the day, they started throwing my furniture off the truck, the didn't assemble the bed or anything else like they were supposed to & the destroyed an antique cabinet I bought in Germany. After they unwrapped it, they picked it up from the top which means all the weight was transferred to the bottom of the cabinet. It immediately fell apart. They lifted other furniture the same way. My entertainment center almost fell apart until I caught them & told them to stop. They also snapped the connection bracket off the running boards on my daughters bed frame rendering it useless. Do not hire this mover....unless you want your hard earned items destroyed. read more

They moved me during my PCS. They were given two days to pack but did in in half a day. The loading took a day and they were able to also deliver to Louisiana in a two day turnaround. There was some miscommunication on transporting my motorcycle but it was corrected with very little effort. One of the better moving experiences I've had in the Army. My move was from San Antonio to Wichita Falls. Yes they got the job done but it was rushed & not as professional as I expected. At the end they left empty and full tape rolls laying everywhere, empty boxes, packing paper, few missed items/drawers unpacked, and upon leaving left my screen door open and unhinged. If they wouldn't have forgotten their tool bag and returned to get it, my screen door would still be unhinged because I had them fix it. They ended their day early on the first two days of packing and they seemed to try to make up for it on the last day of loading. Again they got the job done but I've definitely had more professional movers. read more

I am active duty military who's retiring, I've moved over all over the country and this by far was the absolutely worst moving company I've encountered (the packers). The didn't listen to anything I was said, I had to keep telling them what to pack, and they still didn't pack everything. One of the female packers said she checked the stuff in the storage and it didn't need repacking I went in this morning and their are still boxes opened. The 2 females were rushing the process and forgot to check for everything. If their on some kind of time limit, then the company is failing its clients (military). Very happy with our experience with Scobey. We recently PCS'd to Washington state from South TX and all of our HHG arrived w/ minimal to zero damage. The few items that were damaged we will submit a claim for but all in all it went well. Our goods arrived later than expected too but communication was solid throughout the entire experience and to us, that's what mattered. Things happen and we are understanding people so long as we are in the loop. From beginning to end, they did a great job communicating with us. The packing crew worked quickly and efficiently and the guys that arrived in Washington were very nice and helpful, as I was home with my two year old! The guys and gal at scobey did my move. They was super fast, professional and laid back (in the sense they were cool to have a convo and weren't awkward) but they complete the job quickly. They were great and organized. They came on time and get right to business. They did my deliver today and it was the smoothest part of my transition out of the army. The persons that did the actual moving were good. IF you have any damages or complaints the management is below horrible. They just ignore you. For two weeks my daughter has been sleeping on a mattress on the floor because they refuse to answer any requests to rectify our problems. Regena did call me on my cell to inform me that she was about 30 mins out which I greatly appreciated that and after all my stuff was out of the trucks... she went over all the paperwork and answered all my questions. The only reason I'm rating this company with a 3 star is because I was missing a few boxes and most of my furniture was damaged slightly and my mattresses weren't placed in a plastic bag, etc. I understand that since I moved from CA to TX there were a few people involved in loading and offloading my stuff so it's hard to pin point who was responsible for my damages but I know my stuff left CA in great condition by that moving company. read more

We just moved from AZ and our household goods were in storage for several weeks. I was concerned they would not all arrive, or that there would be more damage than usual. However, everything arrived in good condition. The team of 5 worked hard all day, unloading, unpacking and then assembling furniture. We had items that were previously in bins together strung across four boxes and had to travel with several items that could have been packed/should have been packed to include underneath two sinks that we designated needing packing. Although my kitchen supplies was wrapped and packed to my liking I am honestly upset at the fact that they had unpacked boxes I specifically asked them not to touch because it contained my 4 month olds belongings that's I didn't want anyone to touch. Packers were very friendly and worked quickly. There wasn't much to pack, as my husband is going on an overseas tour and can only take minimal things. It was mostly military gear and a few personal items. We were given an estimated time of 9am-11am and they arrived at 8:50, which for us was GREAT! Love when people are on time or early! The only complaint was the packers/movers sent, were unaware of a couple large items being shipped, even though my husband mentioned these items in the call he received from the company days prior, asking how much baggage he had and what he was shipping. So they weren't prepared to pack these items and did not have the proper boxes with them. Thankfully they were able to piece together some smaller boxes to make larger boxes to fit the items, I just hope these items aren't damaged during shipment. This company has horrible customer service and no respect for military personnel; just another paid government contract. My furniture and my time is important to me. They were two hours late and did not finish until 8pm. I was late picking up my son from after school. This company sent inexperienced movers to pack my apartment. Three of the four employees told me they had no idea what to do. I was instructing the young lady how to fill out the forms. I even feed them lunch. These employees were cramming my household items in boxes without wrapping them properly. My sectional was thrown on the back (the loading lift) without being wrapped. The driver said the truck was too small and no one answered in the office so he could request a larger truck. He was right. No one answered that day. NO military transportation coordinator answered or returned my call. I left messages and even emailed the next day to voice my complaint. Now that I received my shipment. My sofa is broken in half. My dining room table is all scratched up. Lamps are broken, and two boxes are missing. This moving company does not value customers like me and should be ashamed of their poor service from the initial home inspection to the moving day. It is truly sad they provided my no follow up or bothering responding to my call and emails. I am disappointed. Beware, be warned, and do not use this company. They should change the name to Scooby Doo and Miserable Moving Company. This has been the worst moving experience. read more
