Our 3 movers did an excellent job communicating departure and arrival times, wrapped the furniture so well that no damage was done, and put everything together very quickly. We were very pleased with their work. We were disappointed with the miscommunication we had with Adam around pricing. We gave our location, items purchased, and that items were to be situated on the ground floor and received a quote of $150-$250. We were told pricing was $75/hour and upon paying, were told three people is $100/hour. The movers said it was because of how many items we had that they needed an extra person, but we gave them that info to get the quote. With their experience, I feel like quotes should be closer to the actual price. Our total was $59-$159 over. When asked about the gap in pricing, Adam explained that, when we asked about precautions for damage, it might take a little extra time to wrap and ensure protection. I'm not sure how that increased our price that significantly or why that wouldn't have been done in the first place. They also said we could pay by cash or card and were charged a surcharge for using a card, which was not disclosed beforehand. We would have had cash on hand. All in all, the work done was great and worth the pricing, but it never feels good to pay more than expected or feel like there are undisclosed/not discussed costs. Better communication would have earned them the 5th star. read more

USE SOMEONE ELSE!!! I hired the Moving Man to assist with a specialty move, and enough furniture for a 1 bedrm apt. I specifically requested 2 floor dollies for the hospital bed as this was imperative to transport the bed on its side. Adam (the owner) and 2 other men showed up. The crew repeatedly ignored clear instructions, including my request to bring two floor dollies for a specialty hospital bed. Instead, they attempted to use a bulky cart resembling a luggage cart that didn't fit the hallway turn, resulting in broken drywall in multiple areas and damaged door trim. This method was largely unsuccessful, and the hospital bed had to be handled differently. More troubling, Adam tampered with the hospital bed's electrical components, removed the battery, and attempted to operate the bed while it was on its side -- something I specifically warned against. This caused visible strain on the central hydraulic arm and risked permanent damage to a medical device. My laminate floor was gouged when Adam purposely dropped the metal electrical panel cover, stating "I am just going to remove this", as he attempted to restore power to the bed because the battery died while he was operating the bed on its side and under strain. Adam disconnected the Washer improperly, leaving the valve partially open, which when discovered the next day had caused water to leak and damage both the laminate flooring and drywall. Despite my request to remove the washer & dryer pedestals before moving the machines, they twisted and forced the units down the stairs, leaving the pedestals dented and warped. Although Adam acknowledged the wall damage, the overall lack of care, failure to follow instructions, and unsafe handling of equipment make it impossible for me to recommend this provider. I reported the damages to Adam & I am yet to get a call back to settle the damages incurred for the drywall, gouged flooring, twisted washer/dryer pedestal, water damaged flooring. He refused to furnish his liability insurance. This says a lot. read more

Adsm was really nice when he booked us and took our deposit but moving day the movers that came told it was $100 more for the first hour than we were quoted . when we contacted Adam about the discrepancy he was very rude and denied the quote he gave us . And we had no choice because the movers were there and he already took our deposit . It was just very unprofessional to quote a price to get the business then come and ask for $100 extra and be rude and deny the quote when we call to ask why . They also use your restrooms without even asking and take a long time in there all while the clock is running . The movers were nice . read more

We have used Adam and his team now for several large and small jobs. Pleased every time. This morning, I called Adam to see if he might have availability to swap upstairs and downstairs bedroom furniture, after my husband had surgery and could not climb stairs. They were booked. BUT once Adam heard why we needed help, he juggled to make it happen. Joe and Joel came in the evening, late and after two other jobs, and were so kind and so, so helpful. I've recommended The Moving Man so many times, and will again so many times more. Thanks guys! Oh, and p.s.: we have art and antiques and fussy stuff, and not once have Adam's guys so much as put a ding in anthing. They wrap and protect and consult before moving a thing. The price was good and I'm pleased with the service I received. The necessary items were padded and wrapped, and the team used great care with everything. I would use this company again. I recommended this company to a friend and she, too, was pleased with her team of movers. Tip: Communication is lacking, so you'll need to stay on top of confirming and tracking your appointment. I did not receive the promised confirmation call 1-2 days out, so I had to call. And then I had to call again the morning of the move. My experience with these amateurs was, and continues to be, a glance into hell. First of all, we used them to move my stuff out of my former home in Austin. When I booked with them they neglected to tell me that there would be a surcharge for the travel there. Fine. My mistake for not asking myself (although the ethical business practice would be to disclose that early). They came about 45 minutes late on the move out day, and because of their tardiness they began cutting corners in any way they could in order to make up their lost time. This would prove to be a running theme in the way they conduct business. One major way they cut down time was by not disassembling ANY of my furniture. This should have been my biggest red flag, as I have moved about 5 times in the last 5 or 6 years and every mover, good and bad, disassembled my furniture first. Will return to this later. They did an okay job moving my things into my storage unit, but kept congratulating themselves on what a speedy job they were doing, so that diminished any feelings of fondness I might have had otherwise. That and the $850 I was charged for travel. About a month later I closed on my new home, and because I had used them to move my things out, I decided to double down and have them move my things in. I specifically requested that I have the same movers from before since they were familiar with my things. If only I could borrow Marty McFly's time machine and convince myself to use another company! Anyway, I called Adam on Tuesday and asked if they had any availability on Saturday. He said they were available and would be out to my home between 1 and 2. Saturday rolls around and I get a call around 11. It's Adam, letting me know that the movers will be late, closer to 3. No big deal, these things happen right? 3:00 comes and goes. At 3:15, I called Adam to ask where the movers were. He got defensive and started making excuses, saying it would be closer to 4:30 now. At this point I was pretty heated, but I just let it go and decided to wait. You guessed it, 4:30 comes and goes with no call. I called him AGAIN to see what the deal was, and the new answer was 5. I told him this was unacceptable, and asked him what he would do to help remedy the situation. His response was to blame me by saying I should have given him a week's notice before booking if I wanted them to be on time. SERIOUSLY? He actually blamed me for using his business. What's extra rich about that is he didn't mention that at all when I called to schedule -- he said no problem, they were available. I didn't know I was supposed to read his mind and know they needed a week's notice. When they finally show up to begin it's 5:30, and because it's February the sun was already beginning to set. Great. Now we're moving in the dark. And to make matters worse, it's 2 completely different dudes. Again, with the same self congratulatory attitude, as if I should be thanking them for showing up 4 hours late. Get a clue, y'all. By the time we got everything out of storage and into my home it was about 8. Here comes the kicker: because they hadn't disassembled my furniture on move out, they couldn't figure out how to get it moved in up the stairs and through my door frame. Then they stood around for about 45 (paid) minutes trying to figure out what to do and bashing my taste in furniture ("what would possess you to buy something like this?" was an actual quote). Eventually they had to resort to calling Adam and having him bail them out. They got my bed upstairs, but not without scuffing up my walls and adding a GIANT (30 inch) scratch to the brand new wood floors. Here's my final and worst complaint: they broke about 35% of my belongings. I wish I was overstating this, but almost every dish was broken, my fiancé's records were smashed, and a bunch of other valuables that were very carefully packed with tons of bubble wrap and marked FRAGILE. I haven't had the time yet to file a claim with them, but if my past experience is anything to go on I highly doubt they'll be helpful about any of this. I will be posting pictures of the damage they caused as soon as I have access to internet. Please take my advice and save yourself the headache. Throw this number in the trash. read more

The nightmarish experience that The Moving Man has caused my partner and I upon moving into our first home has been an unforgettable one - and not the pleasant kind of unforgettable, but the kind that keeps you awake at night wondering how things could have possibly gone so wrong. As Lauren R. stated, we used The Moving Man twice - once to move out of our place in Austin and once to move into our new home in San Antonio. Aside from the fact that they were four hours late with no apologies or acceptance of responsibility, disregarding the blame they tried to shirk onto us for their tardiness, and even neglecting to take offense for the countless times they criticized our taste in furniture for their unwillingness to disassemble it, this company proved to be unprofessional in the most profound ways. As someone who has moved many times before, I am aware that it is common for a few possessions to get damaged in a move. Things shift around, accidents happen. But in our experience with The Moving Man, I was shocked to find that all of our plates, bowls, glasses, and records were broken. When I pulled them out of their respective boxes, lined with bubble wrap, foam, blankets and the like, plus an individual sleeve for each item, I was absolutely shocked to discover that every piece of glassware and dinnerware was smashed, chipped, or destroyed. Nothing was salvageable. And the worst part of this discovery is that it was several boxes, all which were marked in huge letters with FRAGILE on each side. It was clear the boxes had been carelessly thrown around, because each dish had the same points of impact. When they moved the boxes off the truck and into our house, they piled 5-6 heavy boxes on top of boxes that were distinctly marked with the same FRAGILE label, so it was easy to see how these boxes got mishandled. It would have been bad enough if it was just our dinnerware that was damaged, but we found other signs of carelessness in the form of a huge, gaping hole in our entertainment center, a 30 inch scratch into our new wood floors, and a giant, black scuff-mark on our ceiling from the company trying to move our queen size bed up the stairs without disassembling it (even though we asked them to). We were referred to The Moving Man from my future father-in-law, who has used their company before for personal and business moving needs. Because he has been so loyal to their company in the past, he gave them a chance to address the incidents their company caused in our new home and offer some form of relief. Instead, Adam, the owner, told him that, "there is a certain way to pack dishes." Not surprising given their last opportunity to address their shortcomings, but wildly shocking, infuriating, and disappointing nonetheless. All in all, with the two dates we used The Moving Man for our moving needs, we paid them upwards of $1,500. I know I don't have to tell yelp how much money that is for a service that I consider to be a nosedive away from satisfactory -- and with no attempt to offer us so much as an apology, this is unprofessionalism at its finest. If you care about your belongings and the way they're treated, you deserve a moving company that does, too. Please take our word for it and steer clear of this company. Joel, Adam, Abel, and Bruce were fantastic during the whole process of my move. Poor guys had to move me in to a third story apartment! I just cannot get over how positive they were the whole time. They even put my entire entertainment center back together for me. What I thought would have been a long, grueling day turned out to be a very productive and fun day. they were polite and fast, and the guys did a great job. it was the cost that bothers me. i wasn't quoted a price up front, so that when i was finally quoted a price it was too late, and the job was done. i paid an hour and a half for two items. it took them about 10 minutes. the drive is only about 10 minutes. i thought i was going to only pay for the minimum hour. i ended up feeling taken advantage about without anything really concrete to complain about. hence 3 stars. Used them as they were recommended by the furniture store and they send two guys to move an executive desk and one of the guys was already hurt. While bringing in the desk they dropped it and damaged the top and smashed the corner of the desk. All they offered was to waive the delivery fee for all the damage they cause. If you have anything of value you care about get someone else. read more

Because of business circumstances I was forced to move 3 times in 6 months. I had found a magnet on my door I called Adam and scheduled for a move from a condo in the Stone Oak area to a home close by. They arrived on time were polite and professional. They came with all the protective gear for the door jams and plenty of blankets and equipment. The move went great and I was very happy. After not getting the job I wanted I decided to move to the Churchill area. I called Adam again and they were on time fast and took care of my items. Finally getting a job out of state I need help loading a Penske truck, The third time was also great, Adam took special care to load things so they wouldn't shift during transit, they did a great job and left me feeling great about choosing them.After using them three times I can't say good enough things about Adam and his crew, they came through for me on time, fast, courteous, careful and well priced.
