Overly happy from this dining experience. The service was delightful; the breakfast quesadilla was perfection; and the hash brown was everything you could want in a hash brown. I went back two days later and got the quesadilla again--I knew it when I held it that it was perfect, and I was correct. The pancake short stack is a perfect "appetizer" to share in the middle of the table while you chow down on your dilla or the breakfast BLT, which was also top-notch. So glad this place recovered from their fire so quickly. I wholeheartedly and highly recommend it. read more

Can't rave enough about the service. This place was moderately busy and we were immediately greeted at our tables with waters and our drink orders taken and brought right back over. I used to love Scojo's but was disappointed by my recent visit. The rule of seating whole parties seems arbitrary. Our party of three could not be seated yet two parties around us were seated with incomplete parties. The avocado toast was fake avocado mash and was $14. The food and service was meh. read more

I come to LBI once a year for a week to spend with family, friends, and loved ones, like many people who visit the island do during the summer. I ALWAYS make sure to grab a thanksgiving dinner from Scojo's during my stay down there. The menu is great and has something for everyone. The service is always spot on and the friendliness and passion really speaks through the actions of the employees that work here. The managers/owners are always very attentive and friendly and are very on top of everyone's dining experience. I've never been for breakfast, but their dinners are amazing. Home cooked quality without the Islands typical price gouging, Scojo's is a must visit for family night, date night, even if you're by lonesome and just want to treat yourself, you'll always have a good experience here. They also recently remodeled and everything looks great! read more

Ok had to give these guys 5 stars for this mornings performance. 2/2 for the best omelettes ever, the fresh squeezed oj is soooo good, nice yogurt parfait, GF options in bread and excellent and cheery service. I have purchased many meals over the years with friends and family at Scojo's with good service from both the original and new owners before and after the fire. Today just was not a great experience for lunch due to lack of attention from the server and additional waitstaff. The waitress was busy with multiple tables and part of our order was not served with the rest of the food as I am assuming she forgot to put it in. Understanding that can happen as I was a waitress on LBI myself but typically the server will at least come to your table to ask how the meal came out, do you need refills etc and that just didn't happen today. The food was ok but based on past experiences, I would expect more from this restaurant and staff. read more

Was amazing before the new ownership now the place has lost its family feel. It took the waiter 30 minutes to even come up to us and when he did he didn't speak a word just held out his notebook. The food took 1 hour to get there and once it did the it was mediocre. The bacon was undercooked and the home fries were sweet potato which they weren't advertised as. Am very disappointed because Scojo's is a place I enjoy going to with my family for the past 20 years. read more

I went with the Big breakfast...ok so I split it with the future Mrs. Go with the home fries instead of the hashbrown patty and their sausage...You're welcome. Coffee was blah. Food is just OK but pretty costly. The only reason for 3 stars is all the employees were lovely and the place is cute. The banana bread French toast is great in theory but it's very oily, dense commercial kitchen type banana bread turned into French toast with caramel on top. Very heavy and way over sweet. They were out of crab cakes for the Benedict, so we ordered a Bella skillet which had basically no flavor despite having mushrooms and roasted peppers. There was zero seasoning on the eggs or the potatoes. Everything had lots of potential but both dishes were a big disappointment. read more

I was somewhat amazed at how big the menu was. Not only was it big, it was semi-confusing. For those who don't like to read through a menu like you would a novel, you'd be thrown for a loop... from Blue Plate Specials, Lunch Specials, Breakfast Hours, to Early Dinner Specials. Yes, they all have different prices and require a little bit of mathematical know-how to figure out. To Order: Open Faced Roast Turkey Sandwich w/ Mashed Potatoes -While a little light on the gravy, a simple order of "EXTRA GRAVY PLEASE!" would solve that predicament oh so quickly. The turkey was slightly on the drier side, but was tasty nonetheless. I'm not sure what kind of gravy they used, but it was good and complemented the sandwich well. The mashed potatoes were a perfect addition to this order.. Scoop a small portion of mashed potatoes over the sandwich and prepare yourself for a big bite. You'll now be enjoying a common East Coast phenomenon of open face sandwiches in all their glory. French Fries with Gravy -They used a different kind of gravy than the one on the Turkey sandwich, a welcomed surprise. The gravy was very hot and so were the fries... slightly on the salty side, but definitely a delight to the taste buds. Our server was really cool and seemed to be interested in what we had to say. He took care of us just right, which is always more than anyone can ask for. Our waters never saw the bottom, our food came out pretty quickly, and the side orders that were ordered late in the game came out even quicker. The atmosphere felt like a humble, family owned restaurant that caters to the locals, and makes you feel at home every time you visit. Best corned beef hash I have ever had. And friends, I've eaten a lot of hash. The service is usually very good, the pancakes (gluten free and regular) are fluffy and the eggs are good. I don't recommend the egg white omelet though--it was inedible (I think they put cream of tartar in the egg whites to make them fluffy and it tasted like...cream of tartar in egg whites lol) Overall a great breakfast place. We have been on vacation in Surf City this week and in 36 hours went to Scojo's 3 times! The place is awesome. The outdoor seating is really quaint, the service is excellent, and the food is awesome. Their breakfast menu has so many delicious options and is customizable. Love the fresh squeezed orange juice. The pancakes (Chunky Monkey) are delicious, the banana bread French toast is out of this world. Eggs, avocado French toast, hash browns, all superb. Love the Turkey sausage patty option. After two breakfasts in a row, went back for lunch today with friends, and once again the place didn't disappoint. A really varied and delicious lunch menu just like their breakfast fare. I am hooked and anticipate I'll be going back over and over! Happy to have found this gem in Surf City. read more

Not worth the wait. We walked in to be ignored for a few minutes by the hostess that just kept looking down and didn't even acknowledge people who walked in. We were finally greeted and told the wait would be at least 40 min. They have a clever system that sends you a text when your table is ready and an app that allows you to see how many people are in front. One of the few restaurants I've seen take advantage of this system and that was good. We waited about 35 min to be seated and when we were they told us it might be longer because they just seated a big table and they needed to take their order first. They probably should of taken ours as we were only 3 people compared to the table of 12 but they were there first. Our food came out fast but was a bit underwhelming. It's typical Diner food so don't expect anything more. There food seems to be heated up and not made to order. I ordered Mac and cheese that came right from a box but seemed to be microwaved up when prepared. Also ordered wings that came burnt but otherwise tasted pretty decent. They give bread for the table that seems to be a potato bread variant. Overall it's okay, I probably wouldn't go back as there are better places on the island for food. Prices are okay and better prices places but you get what you pay for. Good for a cheap meal but sacrifices are expected. Would get 4 stars if they had a more friendly and faster greeting and didn't seem like they were annoyed we walked in. read more

Had an excellent brunch here. It's really nice that they give you the option of Ezekiel bread for toast. Even the decaf was good.
