The sign says home made ice cream. When i arrived i recognize all the flavor names and see ALL the tubs of ice cream are blue bell. I drove 15 min to get ice cream with my husband, had i wanted blue bell i wouldve driven 2 min, spent half the price and gotten a huge tub of blue bell at walmart. Dont say homemade if your not making the ice cream in house or at least buying it locally made or at the very least not a brand i can get at literally any pharmaxy or supermarket, its insulting to the customer. Doesnt get anymore commercial than bluebell. Ridiculous. read more

Never expected to see what I saw when I went in for a scoop of ice cream. Just traveling back home and wanted some ice cream. It made me feel like a child again. Lots of candy I grew up on, specialty sodas, a charming environment and more. Holy COW this is delicious! I'm a big ice cream fan - everywhere I go, I have to get a little. Scoops by FAR has the best ice cream I've ever had. We came in right before close and the girl in the store was an absolute delight. Super friendly, very knowledgeable and welcoming. The store is very clean and clearly sanitary. I got cookies and cream with peanut butter. They have tons of ice cream flavors including some sugar free, frozen yogurt, Italian ice, CBD infused ice, and other products made in house locally. Ice cream is amazing but staffing is extremely rude. The teenage girl behind the counter was great. A middle aged woman and man working there were arguing with each other. The older woman didn't even acknowledge us when we walked in. A family walked in after us and all she said was "were closing in 15, you can't stay." For whatever reason, there's a shortage of ice cream shops on the Gulf Coast near Venice. Every year, I've looked high and low for places to get some ice cream with my kids and haven't had much success. Enter Scoops. It's tucked away in a strip mall, and doesn't get any points for aesthetics, but the ice cream's homemade, and there's a great assortment of toppings to boot. I still dream of the small ice cream stands peddling fresh homemade ice cream with all sorts of unique flavors that dot the North Shore of Boston. Make no mistake, Scoops certainly doesn't compare to those. That being said, if you're near Venice/Sarasota and are looking for something other than Baskin-Robbins, give Scoops a chance. read more

We use to LOVE this place, but the last 2 times we have felt cheated. Their dips use to be huge but we got a lot smaller dips than 4 oz. each. We should have told the guy on Tuesday that we didn't want them, but went ahead and paid over $11 with a dollar off reward for 2 double dips which were really singles.
