I'm thrilled with the Scooter's in West Des Moines. Always friendly and the drinks and cinnamon rolls are consistently delicious. My wife and I went Saturday morning October 12 and one person was working, undoubtedly not an ideal situation for her. I applaud her for being positive and professional and letting us know she was flying solo, so it'd take a minute to get our drinks ready. She even thanked us for our patience when I didn't feel we waited in the drive thru very long anyway. Kudos to her and to the Scooter's on Hickman for their service and the delicious items on the menu. Gets our weekend started right every time. read more

My experience here was extremely annoying. The first issue is that the speaker at the drive thru is set to about 1,000% and it's like talking with a megaphone. I was greeted with "hi, would you like a {specialty} muffin?..." blah, blah, blah. I tried to order a normal caramel latte and before I could ask for oat milk I was interrupted with "would you like a large with an extra shot of espresso?" I get the whole upselling strategy, but this is ridiculous. I feel like they might as well have been saying, "can you pay us $3 more here? $2 more there?" I like nice, personal, genuine experiences when visiting a coffee shop. I don't like being met with corporate sales goals with a person talking a million miles an hour from a full blast megaphone. Why give it 2 stars instead of 1 then? Last time I came was during the winter and they had this gingerbread latte drink and it was very good. The cashier at that time was a college student who was very welcoming and I did have a good experience. Maybe I'll go back the next time I visit Iowa, give this place another shot, and update the review. I'll start off by saying-- I would have originally give them a 1 star... because I watch 3 baristas run in circles for 15 minutes and make my drink wrong twice, which I was on a time crunch as I had to go back to the salon for a client. I left with out a beverage, then returned 45 minutes later-- the manager was kind, respectful, and took care of my drink and insure me it was taken care and that others guest wouldn't experience what I did. Every time I visit my family in West Des Moines, I stop for a daily iced sugar free vanilla almond milk latte. The coffee flavor is smooth and delicious. Their menu is extensive, offering sugar free flavors as well as milk alternatives. I haven't tried anything else from their menu yet, but my sister always gets their Carmelicious Blender and raves about it. Drinks can be customized easily, and their staff are polite. I can't say anything about the baked goods and breakfast items since I haven't ordered any yet. Maybe on my next visit. I have been frequenting Scooters only during the pandemic, and have only gone through the drive thru. I believe their dining area is now open. read more

Love scooters coffee and so happy to have another one in the Des Moines metro! Staff is super friendly! And the coffee is fantastic!!! The pumpkin pie blended shake is amazing!!! They even make it with almond milk and real pumpkin. It's super smooth and creamy! Their baked goods are so delicious! Scooter's is my go to place. TL;DR 4/5 stars (yelp wont let me click 4 stars) Good atmosphere, pretty good coffee, cool meeting space for rent and USB plugins in the outlets. Traditional Macchiato is good not great. Pretty fluffy cappuccino style foam. Also, I don't see "for here" mugs, and it wasn't served in a traditional Demi-tasse. Seating is abundant with booths, tables, bar and pub tables. They have a nice little seating area with a fireplace as well. There is a small private room you could rent for meetings or parties. (Max 9) This room has a beautiful large raw wood slab table, white board, and large flatscreen tv for presenting. Nice not to have trinkets and gifts creating a cluttered experience that often looks tacky. (I'm looking at you Starbucks and every other small town coffee shop) Overall I'd say 4/5 stars. read more

This is my go to coffee place. The workers are always very friendly and welcoming Everything I order is always very tasty. Many times the workers have been very generous in picking off the cheese from a breakfast sandwhich. My drinks always come quickly and even though the prices are slightly high, it is worth it. read more

Great service! The drive thru attendant gave great recommendations on their different breakfast options (breakfast burrito, muffins). I got a muffin and caramel latte. The muffin was warm and delicious! The latte was the perfect temperature and I'm not sure how they make their cups but it didn't burn my hand! Great experience overall! I love Scooter's and am happy there are more in Des Moines now, however I was in the Scooter's on Mills Civic this morning to do some work and ordered a coffee and a muffin and I received my muffin still frozen. I asked for it to be warmed up and they said the oven was broken but would find a solution, the staff ignored me when I brought it back up later and chose to ignore me so the rest of my time in the store. Stopped here this morning for my first time to try out the new coffee shop bye me. We ordered Carmel lattes and bagel breakfast sandwiches. My large coffee was barely half full, had a very watered down taste. The sandwiches were super small for being $3.50 and had definitely been microwaved, for too long. The bread was rubbery and hard to chew. This was my first and will be my last time going to scooters. With it being right next to caribou coffee I won't even look at this place again. Not worth the time or money. I do not recommend coming here. read more

Coffee is just ok. Don't love it don't hate it. I often come here to work and it is a good environment for that. The cool thing about this place is it is a great place to have a business meeting compared to the nearby cramped and crowded Starbucks and Caribou. They have a separate conference room which is pretty cool and I think it's free to reserve. read more

Tried Scooter's for the first time yesterday and I was wowed! The drive thru lady was awesome and gave great recommendations.
