We attended some of the shows years ago in Hollywood & got hooked. It's a very fun, crazy, insane & inane evening of entertainment, kinda falling into a crazy 'ol vaudeville variety show of 'side show' entertainment. Every nite is a mishmash, curated for audience fun. From jugglers to fire eaters to bird impersonators & always great when you bring a group with you.. Zeda in quite the mood was having a blast heckling MC Scot, so much so that he came into the audience & gave her a nice piece of black tape to silence her. Pure, unhinged ridiculousness! I haven't laughed this hard in years. Most of these acts have unique, quirky talents- some are superb. Scot Nery is a one of kind host and talent himself- known for his juggling prowess (including pancakes). He hand picks his guests- from comics to magicians to just weirdly funny performances. Where else can you see someone balance and spin a cheeseburger on a parasol? Each night brings different acts all performing for just 4 minutes. The venue in Santa Monica (once Magicopolis) is cool, with a well stocked bar. Get there early to grab a cocktail and perhaps watch a close up magic act. Go!!! read more

Absolutely my favorite show in Los Angeles! I remember I watched this variety show this a few years ago back when it was in a makeshift warehouse in Echo Park. Now freshly tucked in Hollywood, Boobie Trap guarantees to bring a dazzling array of entertainers from all corners of live performance art! You're in for a good show when a surprise act starts spinning flaming cheeseburger on an umbrella. I don't want to spoil anymore, but two hours of hilarious, down-to-earth entertainment from Scot Nery and the rifting Fire Leopard band keep you laughing and amused thru the show. The atmosphere is fun and casual, leaving plenty of room for good old audience interaction. Stick around to mingle with the performers, and even grab some affordable tacos at the cart that will suddenly appear. There's a parking lot convenient for you, but plenty of street parking about if lucky. Too many acts to list - but we loved the English boy-rapper, the angry hula-hooper and the ventriloquist with a ventriloquist. Arrive at 7pm to sit in the front row / bar drinks were reasonably priced / online ticket-prices were great and Scot provides free snacks (as long as you can catch!) Looking for something different to do on a week night? Scot Nery's Boobie Trap offers a random variety act every Wednesday night at 8 pm, found in downtown LA. Purchase tickets on line for a cheaper price of $17 ($25 at the door). Seating is 1st come, 1st serve (doors open as early as 7 pm if you want to come early but there is still plenty of good seats 20 minutes before 8 pm). Each show last 90 minutes and guests get to see 15-20 different acts. When my husband came by here last week, we saw acts that included 2 magicians, a duo aerial circus act, a female contortionist, 2 people playing a guitar and singing, 1 person rapping, 1 comedian, 1 odd mime act, a weird person dressed up as a pumpkin and claiming to be pumpkin spice (don't ask... it was kind of creepy), a juggler. Our show started a little late because of some problems with the stage, which may be the reason why we saw a few less shows than the average of acts that perform weekly. Each performer is given up to 4 minutes. If they go over, they are subject to a boobie trap (unfortunately every performer stayed within the time and so I have no idea what the "boobie trap" consequence is for a performer that goes over the time limit). Seats are plastic chairs, which aren't the most comfortable. Be careful when sitting on one because a chair cracked and broke when this woman sat on one after a little while. Sometime during the show (maybe after an hour? Maybe this is an unofficial intermission?), Scot Nery will throw snacks (on this visit, they were the small size chips) at the audience. Please note that there is a bar available for you to purchase alcoholic drinks and cocktails. After the show ends around 9:30 pm, guests are welcomed to stay for Sideboob, the after party (such an appropriate name). There are restrooms here (the ladies' restroom was clean and most of the stalls had toilet paper and seat covers, but some did not have either). Being that this is a variety act type of show, you will essentially see different performances each week (although there seems to be repeat performers). Of the shows we saw, I really only liked about half of them. But the idea of the Boobie Trap show does intrigue me and makes me want to come back for a future visit (in hopes of seeing some other great acts). By the way, there is free street parking in certain places, after 8 pm. There is also a parking lot (paid lot) at the entrance of Boobie Trap. Please note that the entrance to Boobie Trap is actually in the back. The building itself is unmarked, but there is a Boobie Trap poster in the window, with a small little note that says entrance is in the back. read more

When I first went this, Boobie Trap was at Club Fais Do Do. I really didn't know what to expect except some sort of variety show. I didn't stop laughing for the entire show. It's an absolute delight with a wild mix of magicians, musicians, jugglers, aerialists, contortionists, knife-throwers and acts that defy description. Each performer gets only four minutes for his or her act and the lineup changes every week so it's always fresh and different. And these folks are serious artists. There might be a couple of minor misses each week, but for the most part you'll be hugely entertained and have bags of snacks thrown at you! Scot runs a tight ship and keeps things moving with aplomb. The venue has changed to a theatre on Hollywood Blvd. which offers a more comfortable and technically polished experience. Just be sure to buy your tickets in advance and show up early to get a good seat! read more

A friend of mine was performing in the 100th show, so naturally I had to go celebrate and cheer him on. The evening was sold-out. Some audience members are loyal patrons, go regularly and wear balloons on their head. Don't sit behind them or you won't see anything if you're short. Doors open at 7 PM, I recommend getting there early as it fills up. More street parking available then too. There were a lot of acts, artists of varying and diverse talents and they are allotted a total of 4 minutes each. Comics, "musicians," jugglers, puppets, ventriloquism, acrobats, double-jointed mishegoss, mime stripper, trapeze artist -- anything goes. If you park in the boobie trap parking lot where the laundromat across the street, be forewarned it's "stacked/blocked" parking. Not orderly like the John Anson, but you will be blocked by cars and if you need to get out quickly, you will be cursing. Bar is open. Two bathrooms upstairs. read more

This is the best show on Earth. No really. First and foremost major industry people attend as spectators and performers and you never know who is going on. Scot is funny and charming and talented and he gives free snacks. My favorite act is Keeley Luna the hoop performer who is essentially the Grand finale at the end of the act...yes I really have to say this. She's so insanely hot. Ok back to general show...Seth is funny and I look forward to him being a weirdo and also Lindsay the juggler is also one of my fav acts. Ok there's too many talented people to mention and I'm not a performer in the show I just keep getting invited to go by random friends unrelated to anyone. Truth. So yes, you should definitely go, it's a memorable LA experience full of fun people not crazies...well yes some are crazy but the kind of crazy you WANT to be around. read more

I saw Scot at the Magic Castle and was really impressed by his act and humor. When my friends told me about Boobie Trap, I was excited to go. The entrance is in the back from the parking lot, so don't get confused/ lost! First off, I will say that I'm not a fan of driving/ riding through LA traffic on a Wednesday evening, but it is what it is. I would advise anyone who's not directly in the Hollywood area to account for extra time (no matter what Google maps says!). Luckily, we weren't actually late and it's open seating. For a $20 show in Hollywood, I really enjoyed it! It was fun to see so many acts and such a variety as well. I liked the agenda of just 3 (4?) in acts, which was great for the audience to be constantly entertained. You might even learn a new word! It is cheaper to buy online than at the door, so just do it! P.S. I'm not sure how the parking situation really works. I took a Lyft when I went because I didn't want to deal with parking. I had received an email regarding using some app for parking, but it seemed a bit convoluted (hence, the Lyft). read more

I really appreciated Scot's energy throughout the entire show. He was silly and didn't make much sense, but I was entertained. Most of the acts were great and if they weren't, they only last 4 mins so not too much time was lost. One thing I would have loved to see is...more diversity! I've had the pleasure to see Boobie Trap at least half a dozen times, and I cannot recommend it enough. As far as bang-for-your-buck entertainment options go in Los Angeles, it's hard to do much better than this. Scot Nery is one of those inspiring people who discovered early on what he loves to do and he now does is all the time. He is a natural entertainer, with a keen eye for eclectic talent, from jugglers to comedians to acts that defy classification. He is also super dedicated to his fans. I once sent him a email after my friends and I splurged for a VIP table for Valentine's Day, and he wrote me back the same day thanking me for my feedback. Additionally, his social media feed is full of delightful whimsy, of which the world needs more these days. I don't think Boobie Trap is for everyone, but no entertainment is. If you're on the more conservative side in terms of what delights you, Boobie Trap may be a little overwhelming - it's extremely silly and high energy. But if you consider yourself even slightly open minded and are looking for an alternative to typical entertainment fare, this is your best bet in LA. read more

This is my favorite show in LA. Weird and wonderful and just a ton of fun. I've seen sword swallowers, a girl play the guitar while standing on her hands, people dressed as cats singing, balancing ladders and chairs and umbrellas, a singer I also paid a pretty penny to also see at Harvelle's in Santa Monica, cirque du soleil grade contortionists and aerialists, the list goes on. Oh, and live musical accompaniment. And it's all up close and personal, in a super fun atmosphere. It's where I bring friends coming to town and have had lots of great dates. read more

Scot is an incredible performer & host - amazingly talented and hilarious, and he brings top notch acts to his shows. We're talkin' acrobats, magicians, stand up comedians, musicians, contortionists, beatboxers, comedic characters, and all types of other unique variety performers. I often think about certain acts: "I have NEVER seen anything like that before" or just simply: "WTF?!?" This show has a wonderful spirit that celebrates all kinds of people and what they can do to entertain. There's so much variety that you're sure to experience something that you genuinely enjoy/connect with, whether that ends up being something really experimental and downright weird, or something sincerely beautiful/moving. And if a particular act's not your cup of tea it's literally just a few minutes before they switch out and you get to sample something else. I think the show is a pretty special encapsulation of LA culture, and a really great one to take visitors from out of town while being something you would just as likely go to on the regular. I didn't really know what to expect, but I'm so glad I came to this show! I got there early was glad to hang out with the magician at the bar (even though I wasn't drinking). Scot and the band's banter was really funny and awkward in a charming way. The acts were all interesting and very creative; and even the one's that weren't my favorite still brought a smile to my face. Overall, my lasting impression was that this is a space for people to really express themselves in their talents, and I couldn't help it but to connect with that and feel joy in that expression of creativity! I had to leave right when it was over but I'd love to go back and hang out longer after the show. read more

Better than a $100 Vegas show! Now granted I have not seen every Vegas show, but compared to the ones I've seen, I'd pick Boobietrap over any of them! The amount of talent and variety you get for the price of a movie is obscene. High energy, magic, singing, puppets, contortion, comedy... It's different each week! Anytime I have a friend visiting from out of town (some from Vegas) if they are here on a Wednesday then we are going to Boobietrap! I've next seen the same show twice!
