Really cool spot hosting some great comedy shows. The main room is large yet cozy and inviting. There is a 2 drink minimum. Most drinks are ~$18, are not very tasty. Usually has always been my favorite comedy club and a gold standard regardless of some of the short comings. However this last visit absolutely sucked. Two of the main acts didn't actually come so the lineup was different, the main headliner was still ON the board and didn't come and another act also no showed, both large names I was excited to see and the main point for going and purchasing tickets. They also put our phones in yonder bags which isn't really my favorite but if it's a big name and they want to be sure people aren't recording, fine, I GUESS. However.. there was no big name because both of them didn't show. I had somewhere to be at 10pm, and there's ZERO clocks around this place, phone is locked up, servers are nowhere to be found, it can get irritating just feeling like you're locked in a prison cell with 0 idea of the time. Finally tracked someone down, asked about Whitney Cummings, was told she wasn't coming, and then followed up with the time and it was already 10:10. They also over serve which is probably why they're locking up phones so you loose track of time and keep buying drinks. Guys next to me were PLASTERED, one guy left over and over again to throw up, the other guy was laughing like a hyena and screaming, the other friend had his head down on the table completely knocked out, and last friend went to lay down on the benches and knock out. I came with my husband for the 10:30 PM show on Saturday night (Belly Room) and it was honestly pretty awful. The comics kept commenting on that the weren't getting enough of a reaction and then picking on a couple girls at the front for talking, insisting that security drag them out (total overreaction). It was basically amateur hour with the notable exception of Jeff Ross who tested out some jokes and then left after 10 minutes. The comics overall were being super rude, even goading the crowd to boo a couple who got up to use the restroom. The second comic bombed and it created a terrible domino effect. The vibe was just negative for pretty much the whole night (except Jeff Ross). I think it is really sad that an institution such as the Comedy Store would just allow one bad performance after another. We spent close to $150 to come out and it was a major disappointment. Then to make things worse, the doorman didn't want to remove our phones from the pouches for us and let us leave. Our waitress had to come over and advocate for us just to be able to leave. Comedy Store needs to screen their comics and not let them just be mean to the audience all night: we came to get a laugh and it was awful. read more

I love the original Comedy Store here on Sunset Boulevard and have seen and interacted with so many great people. I met Richard Lewis here back in the 80's when I was a kid. It's a great place to see all of your favorite comics. They have surprise comics here often. read more

Had a great night! Enjoyed some comedy and did a bit of networking. I didn't have food but I'm sure it would be great. The Service for water and beverages was on time and waitress was attentive. Ambiance was relaxing yet very cold. I suppose that's a good thing when it's more crowded then usual. I would totally recommend coming to hang out and you can stay after the main comedians to catch open mic. I unfortunately do not have any more photographs as upon entry, the staff kindly instructs you to power off your phone and place it in a securely locked phone case. the comedy store is everything you want it to be and more. upon arriving, the wait staff are very kind and generous. they get you gong in the right direction. a few tips, get there about 20-30 minutes early if you want to sit close (however, be careful you could get roasted. my buddy and i did and it was fun). the food, the cookies are super small. the pretzels are very good. the pizza is SMALL. from pauly shore, bobby lee, zainab johnson, and everyone before or after were fantastic on the stage. this lived up to the hype and more. if you are ever in the area or vacation here; you have to experience this. read more

A new place discovered. I was happy to get a chance to experience more comedy in LA. So this place has multiple rooms with various shows going on. My location was on the right and up the stairs. It's a very intimate place, maybe sitting 50-60 people. The waiter was quick and thorough as he was servicing the entire place. The food menu was limited and I wasn't in the mood for food. But the drinks were delicious. Was able to take photos, they make you lock up your phones in security bags. Which you keep on your person. This is, hands down, the coolest comedy spot I've been to. The dark ambiance, table and seat arrangements, and aura of the place makes the whole thing just feel so exclusive and intimate. And only for $20!!!!!!!!!! At least that's how much ours was on a random Tuesday. We actually had a surprise guest (Ali Wong!!!!) and that was the coolest experience ever. The various rooms here have different entrances to the building. Original Room in the middle, where there are outdoor tables and seating in the front patio. Main Room is to the left of that. Belly Room around the corner, in the back, where I saw a sign for Cirque Du Store this past weekend. We attended Late Night in the Main Room on Saturday. The listed showtime was 10:30pm, but that's when they opened the doors to the long line of guests waiting outside. Then they scanned our tickets at the counter, locked our phones in yondr bags, and seated us in the main room which was smaller than I imagined, considering people say this the biggest room at the venue (I haven't experienced the others). Drink service was slow but friendly, the passionfruit margarita was tasty with a nice sweetness I enjoyed, and a double meets the 2 drink minimum (though even the double was kinda weak). The show featured Robby Hoffman, Jesus Trejo, Craig Conant, Byron Bowers, and a couple others. Robby Hoffman was my fave, great personality on stage, and even better jokes. The last performer of the night was pretty bad, and for his set, heckling from the front row was relentless. Neither the comic nor the staff did anything about it, even as it drove guests in the audience to leave the show early, one after the other (it was still dragging on after we left around 1:15am). This was my fiancé and my first time seeing a live comedy show at a venue. We saw that Jim Jeffries was going to be at the main room at The Comedy Store so we just knew we had to get tickets! We decided to Uber there because I have a broken leg and we didn't want to deal with finding parking. I'm very glad we did because in typical Hollywood fashion it was pretty busy down there, even on a Tuesday! The Uber dropped us off at the front. We knew there were multiple rooms there so we asked security where we should line up for the Main Room. The security guard we asked noticed I had my knee scooter and mentioned that we were ADA and that someone would escort us to the main room once it was announced on the patio that it was open. Once it was open we were escorted towards the back and to our table. I'm very thankful that they sat us at a table in the back corner that way my scooter was out of the way and it was comfortable for me. It is a nice intimate venue that doesn't feel over sold. Our server was friendly and very attentive as well. My fiancé and I both enjoyed our drinks. The show overall was a great experience. How could it not be? Jim Jeffries is hilarious! I would definitely attend another comedy show here again in the future. read more

I mean any comedian who's anything has played there I'm not really there for the food, but I'm definitely there for the drinks and I'm definitely there for the ambience. You never know who's gonna show up... Now I've worked at a comedy place before and I know that they get slammed so you gotta order all of your drinks upfront and then that way the service isn't so bad I mean it's literally like three waitresses trying to bring drinks to all the people I've been a bartender at a comedy store and it is amazingly high volume. Usually, there's four bar tenders on and we are all just kicking butt... Speaking of kicking butt... there's been some amazing comedians here some even newcomers. I don't remember all the names, but I'm telling you if you wanna chase away the blues and take yourself out of like a situation for a while and lose touch with reality and just laugh with a bunch of other people this is the place to do it. read more

Security guys were also very chill! Best standup comedy show I've ever been to. I've been to some in LA, SD, Vegas, NY, and NJ--The vibe here is great, the stage is huge, sound/lighting had no quality issues, and the variety of comics selected to perform was impressive. I didn't know any of the comedians ahead of time except for Nick Kroll, but they were ALL hilarious. One dude in a cardigan & beanie had some weird jokes about women but hey, it's a comedy club. Different strokes for different folks! Show started at 8, we got there at 8:15 after struggling to find parking (ended up just doing the $25 parking garage). It was PACKED already when we got in, but they still sat us pretty close! Had a good experience and will highly recommend it to others. You aren't going to be disappointed with some hack here! Loved the experience of watching a comedy show at such an iconic venue. We bought tickets (VIP bench seating with a table for two) online after looking at the line up and saw Marc Maron was performing. During Dean Delray's performance, I looked to my left and saw Marc Maron chillin' next to us. I no longer heard anything else Dean Delray was saying as my mind was freaking the fuck out. And no, I said nothing to him because I was trying not to be that person. Needless to say, it was the highlight of my night. Other things to know... - No photos. No video. No heckling. - Two drink minimum for each person. It doesn't have to be alcohol tho, but... *evil smirk*. Wait staff will come around to take drink and food orders. - In the main room, the women's restroom is at the back. Four very narrow stalls and it was clean, but I went before the show even started. - It was a three-hour show of different comedians performing which made me so grateful for comfortable seats! - You can grab drinks at their outdoor patio, prior to the show. During the show, I would see Marc Maron wander out to the patio a few times. - There are designated smoking areas in case you need a quick fix. THE DRINKS. - Moscow Mule | Nothing fancy; Grey Goose vodka, lime juice, and ginger beer. - Peachy Dream | Cazadores Repo, peach schnapps, pineapple, and gingerale. Sweet peach flavors and a little gingery spice. Highly recommend. THE PARKING. Parked a few blocks down in a tiny parking structure where Sixt car rental is located (8305 W. Sunset Blvd.). We parked there for a little over five hours and paid $31. There is parking next to the Comedy Store (managed by Laz Parking) that charges $25 for the first 3 hours, then charges more depending on how much longer you stay (see my photo of the parking rates). The comedian was great but the service was appalling. They literally hound you for the two drinks. As soon as we sat down, the server came and took our order. She said she would double the order since we needed to order two. What if we wanted a different drink? Once the check came, I handed her my card and she gave me the little machine to put in the tip. I put a dollar amount in and she told me that that tip wouldn't cover the people she had to pay out. And then she said but if you tip "like this" and pressed 20% I can tip everyone out accordingly. I was so shocked I didn't know how to react, I just said okay. There were still like 15-20 minutes of the show left but we really couldn't enjoy it because she made us feel so uncomfortable. People will say LA is dead for comedy once Joe Rogan left but this place still has the mojo. Drinks and food are served to your table in a timely fashion. The spaces are all intimate but large enough to accommodate big parties. We usually buy ahead of any headliners announced and are also pleasantly surprised with last minute comedian announcements. The food and drinks are fairly priced and strong pours. Great place for a date night. Don't sit near the front unless you want to be part of the show haha the security and checkpoints are usually friendly too much different than a typical LA club scene read more

Dont wait Stand-by. Security guards are too high to remember who's stand-by and who was first. Security guy with the beard told me to wait till 845pm and he would come get me. I was the first stand-by there at 7pm for the 8pm show. I watched him send 2 stand-by groups a head of me. At 855pm he walked by me so I said whats up am I getting in? He said he didn't know I was stand-by and then he said he thought someone told me. Lol thats what happens when you hit the vape pen while you're working. Top flight Security. I really wanted to enjoy The Comedy Store, but last night's experience was disappointing from start to finish. First off, the bartender, Aimee G I believe the receipt said, had the worst attitude that I have ever witnessed from an employee at any establishment. Did not appreciate her attitude and snarky little comments. Next, the women's restroom was honestly unacceptable. Every single seat had urine all over it which was completely unsanitary and clearly not being maintained throughout the night. I am unsure wtf people are doing in these stalls but for a venue that expects people to sit, drink 2 drinks minimum, basic cleanliness should not be optional. And then finally the seating situation. My group arrived super early, even buying drinks at the bar prior to show start to get the best seat possible. We ended up in the 2nd row. Staff left the first row completely empty so I figured maybe those are VIP/guests of the performers as there was no official VIP option being advertised. The show was 40 minutes late leaving us nothing to do but chat and people watch. 30 minutes after the original ticketed time, a group of three showed up and were initially going to be seated off to the side behind us. But after pointing at the seats directly in the front and center and slipping money to the male employee with glasses who was managing the seating, they were able to walk themselves right up to and sat at the table in the front row against the stage. Apparently, you can just show up later and pay/bribe your way into better seats!!! The blonde server we had in the Main Room, who didn't share her name, had decent customer service and we appreciated how quick and kind she was. (Take notes, Aimee!) Between the dirty facilities, poor service, and what felt like unfair seating practices, it's hard to recommend this place. There are plenty of comedy clubs out there that manage to treat their guests with more respect and have cleaner restrooms. read more

Came to see Rene Vaca ! So much fun!!! I love how he clowns on the audience and brings them on stage. Didn't try the food , but I had a delicious drink named Pucker Up at the bar, but it wasn't on the menu inside of the show. The service could have been friendlier but overall cool and would come again. I love the atmosphere and the neon lights. Fun place. Went on a Tuesday for 10$ plus two drink minimum. I'm laying off the devil's juice so I did two fancy sparkling Waters for about seven bucks each. Server was attentive and quick and kind. Also overall this was a steal considering Ali Wong, Whitney Cummings and more showed up. Just be warned, the show can go long 9:00 p.m. up to 1:30 a.m. Also be aware with the two drink minimum you will have to use the bathroom so please do it strategically. It's hard to go and not interrupt someone. So get it done quick, otherwise you might get roasted or upset the comedian on stage Also, the final comedian Don Berris was great. Just be warned he has no filter, and he says what he's thinking. It can be a bit explicit, but if you stick through it he really roasts the audience and gets people involved with his bit. It's a slow burn but it gets good Also, I would like to note that I have a sick sense of humor and it was fun to see how mad people would get and leave. This is a comedy club and adult topics are discussed and people get made fun of; it's kind of the point. This is not the place to come with thin skin. If you get roasted or teased just know it's not personal unless you're being a jerk then it probably is personal It's well worth it to take a roasting or a good-natured tease like a champ so that you can hear how he goes after everyone else I don't know if I'm overthinking this, but I also kind of wonder if the point of a closer is to get everyone to leave, which he certainly does at certain points Anyways, I enjoyed my time at the comedy store and look forward to coming back. read more

The drinks were overpriced and watered down, and to make it worse, they automatically added 20% to the tab once it went over $100, then handed over the payment machine with another 15% tip already selected hoping you don't catch it. That was an absolute mess last Sunday night - what a waste of $$$ People were PISSED - sold out because of the headliners and they don't even show. Show started an hour late, technical problems, comedian who doesn't even bother telling a single joke spills water all Over the stage so the next comedian who was actually funny has a bassist trying to mop up water her whole set. We get yelled out to stand up during absolute atrocious singing while we're shoved into booths and chairs that are an inch apart. We went there to celebrate a birthday with a party of 7. The venue is very nice and surprisingly intimate. Good bathrooms. The main room is a bit tightly packed but not bad. The drinks (minimum of 2 per person, alcoholic or not) were very good and well made/strong which makes the comedy even funnier! We saw Howie Mandel, Arsenio and four or five others. Don't pay extra for the early entry seating ticket for the belly room, it was the same exact thing as general admission. Came here on a Saturday Night for the 9:30 upstairs Belly Room. Parking is pricey, tight and packed which is all expected. Just arrive early. The staff are all very friendly & will let you know when it's time to head into the room & for what show. It was pretty chilly last night but the outdoor patio has heat lamps & a cool bartender to serve up drinks. Every comedy club seating is very tight & not enough cushion to be comfortable and it's no exception here so just a heads up. We went in a bit high so we ordered a 2nd dinner of pepperoni pizza (about 10"? slightly larger than a personal pizza), pretzel & cookies. The alcoholic drinks were very strong so I ended up not touching them and someone sitting next to us got 2 bottled waters which counts towards your 2 drinks. Smart man. Food was pretty good & the cookies don't look great but trust me tastes pretty damn good. There is a bathroom inside the belly room & my husband said was very tight. They have mirrors all around to make the space look larger but it just ended up confusing him LOL. The comedians were good & the 2 hours really flew by. We have been the to the main room twice and had a fantastic time! Its such an intimate venue with quality comedians. The staff is always professional and friendly. I am always surprised that we get to see sucha great show for such a fair price. I think this will always be my prefered comedy venue when visiting LA. read more

We loved it. We came there to see my favourite comedian. That crazy German guy, Mario Adrion. We've never been to this place. First, we were looking for some parking, and since it was on a Wednesday, we decided to park somewhere nearby on the street before having to pay for parking. We were lucky to find parking not too far on a side street. When we got to the place, two guys, very friendly, checked our tickets and scanned us for ( I guess weapons, with one of those body scanners), and let us in to the front patio where there is plenty of seating and a bar. We waited there for a while until about 8:15 pm, and then slowly went back towards the area where you go up to the so-called " Belly dance room". That was where Mario performed. We waited there until 8:30, and there was a very nice and friendly guy sitting at a small table, and there we showed him our tickets when it was time to let us in. We had to put our cellphones into one of those security bags that we could take with us. But those were locked, and we had no access to our phones while the show was going on. When we left they opened the bags for us to retrieve our phones. We were led by another friendly employee up some stairs into the showroom, and as lucky as we were, we were seated right by the stage. It was a relatively small showroom. But that made it even more cozy, and as it turned out, sitting at the front by the stage made you an easier target for jokes by Mario. LOL A sweet waitress came by and asked us what we liked to drink. There was a 2-drink minimum. That was okay. The show was packed, and, of course, it was fantastic. My spouse and I had a wonderful and fun night, and we laughed so hard. And the service you get from the staff of the Comedy Store is truly great. read more

The second show featured 40 comics doing 2 minute bits. We started more like 1045pm and that was in the belly room which is in the back of the club and up the stairs. Both rooms were packed. Th belly room could fit maybe 50 people. The main room could fit what feels like 150 people. The tables and chairs are pretty small in order to fit more people in. You'll have anywhere from 2 to 4 people at each table which means you'll have to make friends. The tables we sat at were super wobbly. There's a two drink minimum and they average around 18 bucks per cocktail and 12 bucks for bottle / can beer. There's also a small food menu. The people next to us had pizza and it didn't look that good. The rooms are pretty cool. It gets dark and there's no photography or video allowed. There's only a few bathrooms depending on what room you're in and the restrooms are tiny so either go during the show or wait til before / after and expect a long wait. The staff at the front of house were nice. Gave good energy. Same with the bartender. The staff at the entrance of each room sucked. They were trying to be funny but it just came off as rude. There is virtually no parking unless you balling and wanna drop a lot for a spot in Hollywood. If not your best bet is to take a cab. read more
