Small and dark place but it offers 2 pool tables, a jukebox, darts, about 6 TVs, cheap and solid drinks! Sad to put a 1 star review because the younger blonde bartender was amazing, the older bartender was telling us as she got on shift "the beers are cheap because you're supposed to tip" before we bought our beers from her (after we tipped the other bartender). She proceeded to mess up 2 drinks and then yell at us as we were leaving for not tipping. Very unprofessional and ruined the night, we will not be going back. read more

I'm going to say the words that will make a bar owner want to lock me out. This is a great dive bar. A friend and I look for dive bars and if you do too, you want to go here. Why is a dive bar a good thing? It's not pretentious. It's affordable. You can relax. You can dress casually. It feels like a neighborhood. There aren't expensive fancy cocktails here. Most places with fancy cocktails are pretty bad. A regular normal cocktail is better than most pricey designed cocktails. Sometimes this place has some casual food offerings. Because it is not a restaurant, it's pretty easy to just bring in your own food. We like to come here before going to Moonlight Amphitheater or events at the park. Most of the staff is great and genuinely made me want to come back, however, there is an old hag that works there that made multiple comments to my boyfriend and sister about how we don't tip enough ( they both had just ordered their first drink with that bar tender we were tipping about a $1 for every $3 before that). As we were leaving she loudly made a comment about how it was the end of our night and implying that we didn't tip her enough after making rude remarks about us throughout our stay there. Why tf would we tip her after that? I told her that I've been a server and I understand what good service looks like and it never is talking down to people about their tip before the end of their stay! Not only that my sister ordered and whiskey sour and didn't get that... also ordered a coorslight on draft and then got a bottle of it... ya so screw you and you shouldn't be a bar tender. This Bar only is under new management...Id disregard every review prior to this one .They did a complete 360 from the owners before...I loved how the energy from the bartenders was welcoming and attentive to literally every need. Update as of 5/5/2019 I am again rasing the stars for this place do to the fact that the person who hit the guy on the ground is no longer employed with this establishment. I am sorry to hear, though happy for one bartender that has gain new employment. For the new bartender Tina, she is good though she tends to water way down drinks. The only 5hing is that the AMI jukebox is broken too much. I play songs in order that I want to hear them and it decides that I want to hear them in a special order. I have used other AMI Jukeboxes and this is the only one that does that. Please fix. They do offer free food on Sunday early if you can make it. read more

I have found my new home town bar! It took me a bit to find it, but here it is, tucked into a quieter part of Vista, away from the downtown scene. Every bartender that I have had the pleasure of meeting has been so friendly and welcoming, as are the many locals who are there on a regular basis. The music is great, there are pool tables, and the crowd is "older"...no riff raff. The best part for me is their drink prices. I am whiskey kinda gal, and I can come in to Scotland Yard at any time of the day, any day of the week, and get my Jameson shot for $4.75. That's almost half of what most bars charge. And we're talking a nice heavy pour. I'm glad to have found this place and I will be back....starting tonight read more

Tiffany the energetic and engaging bar tender here at this comfortable strip mall hole in the wall, provides the "up" energy and happy hour provides a $3.00 heavy pour well drink. I was trying to meet up with a friend. She was coming from Escondido, I was coming from Oceanside, so we were trying to meet in the middle. The first 4* bar I found on Yelp was just NOT my speed. We drove to a second one. It didn't exist. So Scotland Yard was our "third time's the charm" bar. I am happy to say it filled all of my expectations. Yes, it's a dive bar, but there was plenty of seating, both at the bar and at a table. Definitely appreciated it. Girl behind the bar was quick and friendly, and our two pint-sized vodka sodas were $3 each. Regular price. Killer. Cash only, I believe. But no worries. Music was pretty damn loud, that could have been lowered a bit. I couldn't hear a word my friend said. We stepped outside and I still couldn't hear her! lol I won't be running back to this place, as it's super far from my house and not my style of dive bar. This is a great hole in the wall dive bar! I just wish the stools were more comfortable! I give it 3.5 stars. I love dives bars & I liked it here but didn't totally fall in love. I just moved back to Vista & I knew this bar was here but I had completely forgotten about it. It's in an obscure location, off a side street in the middle of a strip mall. The only reason why I stopped by was because I looked up bars close to home to see if there was anywhere else to go besides the places downtown. I was surprised at the brightness of the place. It was a Saturday night & there was a decent crowd. Whoever was playing the jukebox was picking great music: The Cure, Oingo Boingo, Johnny Cash, The Clash. The bartender & bar back were attentive. The crowd was eclectic. Can't beat the prices: my vodka tonics + the BF's Coors Light= $5.75. The prices switched when he ordered Coronas & I had a gin so we weren't sure of the breakdown. Women's bathroom was clean & the BF said the men's was as well. No funky smell in the place. Pretty random chairs around the tables but goes with the dive ambiance. Ordered a drink here one time and after I took a drink I felt pain on the inside of my bottom lip. When I noticed that I was bleeding, I inspected the cup and noticed that the glass was cracked. When I tried to bring this up to the bartender, a thick brunette, she didn't pay much attention to what I was telling her so I just left. Should really check the glasses before you serve them. When I walked in I was already getting dirty looks from the bar patrons that were there but I didn't pay them any mind. What was surprising is that even the short blond bartender was giving me dirty looks also. I didn't even finish my beer and left. I don't want to say this, but I felt a little racially profiled. Horrible customer service when there on Saturday with my friend's girlfriend and friend we were trying this place for the first time and the last time. When we got there it seemed like an okay place until the girl bartender serving started being rude, and unprofessional, At any time did anyone talked to her bad, she seemed very intoxicated, if you can't handle drinking , don't drink, which in the first place she shouldn't be drinking. She was literally screaming making no sense, to what we were told she is in charge on Saturdays, personally as a business owner I wouldn't like someone like that representing my business. On game days there is usually always food and snacks provided depending on who is working the shift. This is the only bar I bother to go out to in North County. I even took my Australian friends here (they didn't want to go home). Its a dive. Its small. Its dark. They have pool. Customers were kept ordering drinks my brother (Mexican) after 5 people still ordered drinks got denied. I've been going to Scotland Yard for a year or more and recently had a very disturbing experience: On 1/07/12 I took my oldest friend to celebrate his birthday and the completion of his first book. We walked up smoking and discussed the possibilities for electronic book release, when suddenly I noticed a shaved headed bro guy with tattoos staring at us. I nodded at him to see if he knew me, but he didn't. He said nothing and continued staring. A moment later one of the bar workers came out and stood with him. In my normal fashion, I walked through the bar looking for friends, and found one guy I had known for 20 years, and another regular. The guy kept staring and began whispering to people on his side of the bar. My friend who doesn't really get out much was starting to feel very uncomfortable so we went outside to resume smoking. The bro guy came outside still staring. My friend offered him a cigarette in an attempt to be social, and it was at this point that we were approached by the worker and that same guy and were informed that we were being stared at because we looked like we were studying the place looking for cars to break into with that shaved headed, tattooed guy nodding and pretending like he was going to call some of his friends to come down there and have something to say. The worker added, "Don't get caught slippin," as if he were speaking in some sort of common language for me to understand. Since my friend (who happens to be half black) isn't accustomed to many social situations, and it was pretty awkward we just ended up leaving because the night had been blown. I was kind of surprised so I didn't say much, but I was pretty embarrassed that I told him Scotland Yard was a cool place to hang out. Especially because this friend is the one who got me more into playing music, which has greatly influenced my life. As a professional artist, I've traveled to many places in the States,(yes even the south) and have never been treated that way. When he was growing up in Fallbrook we had some very similar negative experiences that tend to stay with you for the rest of your life. The funniest part is that they don't even realize that a few people have listened to my music on their Jukebox. Major disappointment. read more

Yes, this bar isn't meant to be all nice and yes it's in the old part of Vista, but I was expecting something a little better. A friend of mine and I went here a couple weeks ago just to see how it is, and it was completely empty besides the 5 regulars. It was awkwardly quiet and almost too dark. The bar tender wasn't attentive at all and lacked a friendly personality. I asked for a whiskey coke, and she gave me a weak whiskey sour. It was quiet... how couldn't she hear my order?
