The atmosphere and ambiance is so cool! Everyone is so chill! Don't trip about coming to a new bar because from the very first time you come in, you'll feel like you've found "your place!" The place that you can drink and unwind from your day and maybe play a game of pool! The owners are hands-on and they really care about this bar! I'm going to say the words that will make a bar owner want to lock me out. This is a great dive bar. A friend and I look for dive bars and if you do too, you want to go here. Why is a dive bar a good thing? It's not pretentious. It's affordable. You can relax. You can dress casually. It feels like a neighborhood. There aren't expensive fancy cocktails here. Most places with fancy cocktails are pretty bad. A regular normal cocktail is better than most pricey designed cocktails. Sometimes this place has some casual food offerings. Because it is not a restaurant, it's pretty easy to just bring in your own food. We like to come here before going to Moonlight Amphitheater or events at the park. The liquor and drinks are a lot better here. read more

Most of the staff is great and genuinely made me want to come back, however, there is an old hag that works there that made multiple comments to my boyfriend and sister about how we don't tip enough ( they both had just ordered their first drink with that bar tender we were tipping about a $1 for every $3 before that). As we were leaving she loudly made a comment about how it was the end of our night and implying that we didn't tip her enough after making rude remarks about us throughout our stay there. Why tf would we tip her after that? I told her that I've been a server and I understand what good service looks like and it never is talking down to people about their tip before the end of their stay! Not only that my sister ordered and whiskey sour and didn't get that... also ordered a coorslight on draft and then got a bottle of it... ya so screw you and you shouldn't be a bar tender. I'm not sure if she misheard cuz she's old but it's still not that hard to give good service and be nice for the older bartender that is working Friday night 8/8/2025 I hope you eventually learn to grow up and learn what it means to give good service and deserve a good tip. I hope you grow in maturity and that one day you learn what it means to be an adult. read more

ATTENTION EVERYONE!! This Bar only is under new management...Id disregard every review prior to this one .They did a complete 360 from the owners before...I loved how the energy from the bartenders was welcoming and attentive to literally every need. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place. This is a BAR ONLY, cash only, with an ATM INSIDE. I thought the best part was the alcohol prices... BEST PART IS THEY CLOSE AT 2AM everyday! I have found my new home town bar! It took me a bit to find it, but here it is, tucked into a quieter part of Vista, away from the downtown scene. Every bartender that I have had the pleasure of meeting has been so friendly and welcoming, as are the many locals who are there on a regular basis. The music is great, there are pool tables, and the crowd is "older"...no riff raff. The best part for me is their drink prices. I am whiskey kinda gal, and I can come in to Scotland Yard at any time of the day, any day of the week, and get my Jameson shot for $4.75. That's almost half of what most bars charge. And we're talking a nice heavy pour. I'm glad to have found this place and I will be back....starting tonight read more

Stopped in as part of my quest to explore the best dive bars in and around Oceanside. Tiffany the energetic and engaging bar tender here at this comfortable strip mall hole in the wall, provides the "up" energy and happy hour provides a $3.00 heavy pour well drink. And wonder of wonders, they had a little cheese/salami and cracker snack for gratis. An older mellow crowd: a few 40s-50s and some older well off types. If I could give this bar less than one star, I would. The red haired bartender was the most disrespectful, negligent, ill mannered little girl I have ever met. And as my server / bartender, she should learn some common decency in customer service. I will not be returning and I definitely do not recommend. The old Taco Bell on Vista way would have done a better job if it was still open ! read more

I was trying to meet up with a friend. She was coming from Escondido, I was coming from Oceanside, so we were trying to meet in the middle. The first 4* bar I found on Yelp was just NOT my speed. We drove to a second one. It didn't exist. So Scotland Yard was our "third time's the charm" bar. I am happy to say it filled all of my expectations. Yes, it's a dive bar, but there was plenty of seating, both at the bar and at a table. Definitely appreciated it. Girl behind the bar was quick and friendly, and our two pint-sized vodka sodas were $3 each. Regular price. Killer. Cash only, I believe. But no worries. Music was pretty damn loud, that could have been lowered a bit. I couldn't hear a word my friend said. We stepped outside and I still couldn't hear her! lol I won't be running back to this place, as it's super far from my house and not my style of dive bar. But really, nothing to complain about, and I'd happily go back in the same scenario. read more

Ordered a drink here one time and after I took a drink I felt pain on the inside of my bottom lip. When I noticed that I was bleeding, I inspected the cup and noticed that the glass was cracked. When I tried to bring this up to the bartender, a thick brunette, she didn't pay much attention to what I was telling her so I just left. Should really check the glasses before you serve them. Negligence could bring lawsuits. read more

This is a great hole in the wall dive bar! I just wish the stools were more comfortable! I give it 3.5 stars. I love dives bars & I liked it here but didn't totally fall in love. I just moved back to Vista & I knew this bar was here but I had completely forgotten about it. It's in an obscure location, off a side street in the middle of a strip mall. The only reason why I stopped by was because I looked up bars close to home to see if there was anywhere else to go besides the places downtown. I was surprised at the brightness of the place. It was a Saturday night & there was a decent crowd. Whoever was playing the jukebox was picking great music: The Cure, Oingo Boingo, Johnny Cash, The Clash. The bartender & bar back were attentive. The crowd was eclectic. Can't beat the prices: my vodka tonics + the BF's Coors Light= $5.75. The prices switched when he ordered Coronas & I had a gin so we weren't sure of the breakdown. Women's bathroom was clean & the BF said the men's was as well. No funky smell in the place. Pretty random chairs around the tables but goes with the dive ambiance. The place was nicer than I expected. I will be back again because it's so close to home. read more

got off work early a couple days ago and I decided to go to this bar that was on my way home. When I walked in I was already getting dirty looks from the bar patrons that were there but I didn't pay them any mind. What was surprising is that even the short blond bartender was giving me dirty looks also. I didn't even finish my beer and left. I don't want to say this, but I felt a little racially profiled. If you are going to be working as a bartender you should treat everyone with respect. Wont be back here again ever. read more

A pub, well I guess. Noisy, lousy service. Pool tables if you want to play on dark tables while dodging flying darts! We have played in a pool league out of this bar for years and it is getting worse. Nobody wants to be here. You can't hear the person next to you. Bar tenders only want to wait on the 'regulars ' they could care less about the 'new' people. Lord help you if you're the designated driver you get one water! Not friendly that's for sure. read more

Horrible customer service when there on Saturday with my friend's girlfriend and friend we were trying this place for the first time and the last time. When we got there it seemed like an okay place until the girl bartender serving started being rude, and unprofessional, At any time did anyone talked to her bad, she seemed very intoxicated, if you can't handle drinking , don't drink, which in the first place she shouldn't be drinking. She was literally screaming making no sense, to what we were told she is in charge on Saturdays, personally as a business owner I wouldn't like someone like that representing my business. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!! read more

I am so impressed by the amount of appreciation and pride that goes into the advertisement, customer service, and entertainment at this bar! On game days there is usually always food and snacks provided depending on who is working the shift. One of the bartenders is doing an amazing spread for Thanksgiving, offering a comforting and caring environment for those that have no where to go on the special day! This is the only bar I bother to go out to in North County. I even took my Australian friends here (they didn't want to go home). Its a dive. Its small. Its dark. They have pool. The bartenders are cool. You can get a pint glass mixed drink with 70% liquor for $3 any night of the week. Any other details are pretty irrelevant. read more

We were having a good time got our first drinks quick but then everything went sideways. Place sucks. Last call at 12:30. Customers were kept ordering drinks my brother (Mexican) after 5 people still ordered drinks got denied. What sucked more 5 more people went up after him for new drinks and got them but yet we got rejected. Not coming back. Bartender was drunk. Security not even paying attention to what is going on. read more

I've been going to Scotland Yard for a year or more and recently had a very disturbing experience: On 1/07/12 I took my oldest friend to celebrate his birthday and the completion of his first book. We walked up smoking and discussed the possibilities for electronic book release, when suddenly I noticed a shaved headed bro guy with tattoos staring at us. I nodded at him to see if he knew me, but he didn't. He said nothing and continued staring. A moment later one of the bar workers came out and stood with him. In my normal fashion, I walked through the bar looking for friends, and found one guy I had known for 20 years, and another regular. The guy kept staring and began whispering to people on his side of the bar. My friend who doesn't really get out much was starting to feel very uncomfortable so we went outside to resume smoking. The bro guy came outside still staring. My friend offered him a cigarette in an attempt to be social, and it was at this point that we were approached by the worker and that same guy and were informed that we were being stared at because we looked like we were studying the place looking for cars to break into with that shaved headed, tattooed guy nodding and pretending like he was going to call some of his friends to come down there and have something to say. The worker added, "Don't get caught slippin," as if he were speaking in some sort of common language for me to understand. Since my friend (who happens to be half black) isn't accustomed to many social situations, and it was pretty awkward we just ended up leaving because the night had been blown. I was kind of surprised so I didn't say much, but I was pretty embarrassed that I told him Scotland Yard was a cool place to hang out. Especially because this friend is the one who got me more into playing music, which has greatly influenced my life. As a professional artist, I've traveled to many places in the States,(yes even the south) and have never been treated that way. When he was growing up in Fallbrook we had some very similar negative experiences that tend to stay with you for the rest of your life. The funniest part is that they don't even realize that a few people have listened to my music on their Jukebox. Major disappointment. read more

Yes, this bar isn't meant to be all nice and yes it's in the old part of Vista, but I was expecting something a little better. A friend of mine and I went here a couple weeks ago just to see how it is, and it was completely empty besides the 5 regulars. It was awkwardly quiet and almost too dark. The bar tender wasn't attentive at all and lacked a friendly personality. I asked for a whiskey coke, and she gave me a weak whiskey sour. It was quiet... how couldn't she hear my order? The price was fine. Cheaper than the average bar, but I definitely won't be coming back read more

Each of the sliders was unique and very flavorful, with well-seasoned beef patties and recognizable flavor profiles. My favorite was actually the mushroom & Swiss. The onion rings almost stole the show for me, believe it or not. They were some of the best onion rings I've ever had--light and tasteful breading, perfectly succulent onions. The ranch and bleu cheese they use are really nice too. Highly recommend this spot to any and all burger lovers or fans of epic onion rings!

A couple of easy wins would take this place up a notch: adding an outdoor smoking patio (big miss for a country bar crowd) and expanding the beer taps. Those changes would make it way more comfortable for hanging out longer. Overall, it's a cool, laid-back dive if you're in the mood to shoot pool on a quiet weekday afternoon or evening. Nothing fancy, but it has that authentic local feel. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants affordable drinks, a game of pool, and zero pretension. Just check the schedule first so you don't hit league night! Would return on a non-league weekday.

I mean, if that's store policy like In-N-Out is now, I get it, but let me know that. The truffle fries and regular fries that came with the other burger were fantastic as always. I wish I didn't have to go back to the register to pick up salt packets but that's not a big deal really. I let the young lady at the register know that the burgers were well done, again. . . She apologized and I just told her that it was ok. I'm not making anyone cook me a new burger. Once again, still good. Just not what I asked for. I also ordered a beer and the person at the register gave me the number placard and told me that she would bring my beer out. After seeing it set at the bar where the drinks come out for a few minutes, I just went and picked it up. The young man who brought our food seemed more interested in talking to the female employees than checking on customers, but I was 20 years old once too. We did get there kind of late and left a little after closing time. Everyone was busy checking their phones. . . We'll be back. Pizza is always great. Burgers are usually surprisingly excellent for a Pizza place too. I just wish everyone was a bit more on point.

This is definitely a little gem of Vista. Upon entering we were quickly greeted with smiles from the bartenders and welcomed in. The patrons sitting at the bar also smiled at us as we later learned they were the regulars of the bar and one used to be a bartender there. This place gave off such a casual cool dive bar vibe but was actually really nice inside. We ordered the fried zucchini, Nelson burger, and the elliotness burger. These burgers were great! And you can see that in the pictures. Meat was delicious and flavors were tasssssty! I must also say their Irish red and seltzers were super good too.
