Hands down the best service call experience I have ever had. Scott answered my email and text inquiry promptly, even though they were sent after hours on Thursday. He scheduled an appointment for that Saturday, and showed up on time. Unlike most repair people, who try to immediately get you to replace a part so they can charge more, he fixed my washing machine pump within the hour and charged a very reasonable price for the service call, and my washer works as good as new. When I mentioned that my next call to him would likely be for my garbage disposal, he described to me a quick fix to try that often works when these seize up. No way any other fix it person would do this!! Most would keep this tip a secret in hopes of getting to charge a service call fee for an easy 1 minute fix. Scott is a top of the line repairman-- friendly, skilled, and honest. I always wonder if good Yelp reviews are written by friends but I found Scott on Yelp and was in desperate need of a washing machine doctor. I took the chance and I'm glad I did. My 5-year old dryer stopped heating, and on a weekend of course. Luckily, I found Scott's web site through a Yelp search, filled out his contact form, and amazingly received a reply soon after. He suggested what part might be causing my problem, and more importantly, provided a link to a video that was specific to my machine. I just used Scott to fix my washing machine which clogged due to a bobby pin. Scott was very professional, came within two days (other places make you wait up to 2 weeks) and even called me when he was running just a couple of minutes late. Scott is as great as his Yelp reviews led me to believe. My stackable washer was unbalanced and making noises, so I called him up and was psyched that he was able to come out within a couple days to fix it. Not only did he fix the washer quickly and for the price he quoted over the phone, he took the time to talk to me (over the phone) and my mom (in person) about some ideas we had about getting a new washer/dryer combo. He really went out of his way to educate us, give up some tips, and assess our space for the new washer/dryer we're thinking of getting. Special thanks to Scott for pointing out something of concern with our water heater pipes... it's something we never would have noticed, and now we can be proactive and avoid a big mess. If you need any of your appliances repaired, do not call Scott the Fix It Guy. It appears it is a crap shoot whether he will answer your calls. Our refrigerator water dispenser lever broke and needed it replaced. Although a friend recommended Galvin's In El Cerrito, we decided to contact Scott because we like to support independent businesses. He never returned our texts. Seems he doesn't need the business so we will be calling Galvin's like we should have in the first place. We will be sure to spread the word to not use Scott. Too bad I had to use a star. Wow...my washer was installed by some idiot from Sears who apparently hooked up the hot and cold water backwards. They wanted $125 to come look at a problem that was their fault! Scott diagnosed the trouble from the email I sent him and encouraged me to fix it myself. Switched the hoses, done in 5 minutes and cost me nothing. Scott Flint may be the world's greatest appliance repair person. Some repair persons are simply parts replacers. Scott, on the other hand, thinks about what might be wrong. He loves to analysis a problem and loves to explain and teach you about the problem. Here is a good example: we had trouble with the burners on a kitchen stove that just didn't want to light. Our old repair person replaced the piezo lighters twice with no improvement. Then he got frustrated and gave up and left with a bad attitude. Scott immediately diagnosed the problem and came up with a simple solution. He cleaned corrosion off the burner parts with a wire brush. The burners now light beautifully and we know what to do if the problem recurs. In addition, Scott is very conscientious and follows up on everything. And his prices are very fair. Not to mention what a pleasant person he is. read more

This review is long overdue. Scott helped my husband and I so much when we first moved into our house a few months ago. It was a very stressful time with so many things going wrong in the house and waiting for new appliances to come in. In my experience, other repairmen haven't been very friendly, but it was so refreshing and comfortable having Scott help us out! We were so lucky to find him through yelp and have him fix some broken burners on the stove. He came back again to help us hook up our washer and dryer, and he was nice enough to take a look at some other things. To reiterate what other reviewers have said, Scott is very helpful, very friendly, very knowledgeable, trustworthy and just an all around GREAT guy! We are so happy we found our go-to fix-it guy!!! I called in the morning and got a same day afternoon appointment for my dishwasher. Scott showed up on the dot of our appointment time. After pushing various buttons (as I had done the night before) with no result, he methodically disassembled it, explaining what he was doing, clearing out all the loose particles as he went. The problem wasn't very obvious and he thought it was the "motor relay" but lo and behold when he reassembled it, it worked, but it only worked once. The next day, the dishwasher didn't work again; I called Scott but I was unable to reach him and left a message. Later that day he called back. He said that it could also be a broken wire but I had already called Galvin by that time. We were having a dinner party and I could not wait. Galvin carries many parts in their truck. It was a broken wire as Scott had said but they also fixed the door handle which had been broken for a long time. Anyway I ended up paying twice. Subsequently, Scott texted me to make sure my dishwasher was running and apologized for being unavailable. He would not have charged me for the second service call. His prices and his helpful disposition are a definite asset. By way of apology, he offered me half price on any repair I might need in the future on any of my appliances. read more
