My review here does not apply to Scott's ability as a fix-it guy. This is not something I can comment on as our appointment did not go through. Rather, my issue is his lack of professionalism in scheduling. We had reached out to Scott regarding an issue with our washing machine. He responded with a video, but being the un-handy people that we are, my husband and I requested an in-home appointment to repair our washer. Scott agreed, and we scheduled for a week later, as he had nothing available on his calendar. During the week I had to lug all of our laundry to the laundromat (I know, first world problems), so by the time the weekend came we were looking forward to our Monday appointment. My husband also took the day off so that he could make Scott's availability in the mid-afternoon. The night before our appointment, Scott emailed to ask for our address, which we advised was in Alameda. Mind you, when we booked the appointment, his coverage area indicated El Cerrito, Albany, Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland and Alameda. Scott then responded that he doesn't cover Alameda, and that he wouldn't be able to service our machine. When we advised him that his Yelp profile included these cities as coverage areas, he said that he would need to change that to reflect only El Cerrito and Berkeley. That's it - no offer to make an exception since the appointment was made the prior week, no explanation as to why he didn't confirm our location when making the appointment, no apology for the time off that my husband had to take from work to make his appointment - nothing. The only upside is that Scott did offer us two referrals who may have availability the next day (hence the 2nd star). Thankfully for us, they were both responsive and we ultimately selected a fantastic repairman based out of Walnut Creek to come by the next day. I'm happy to pass along that repairman's contact information if anyone is interested.

Scott did a great job. Highly recommended!! He was very friendly and gave me useful information when using the washer and dryer.

Scott was great. He actually helped me fix my broken dishwasher myself, and he didn't give up until we figured it out. He knows his stuff!

If he can't--and nothing here says he does--where do I go to have a new blender drive coupling (the thing that grabs onto the blades of the graduate and makes them spin) shoved onto my Kitchen Aid blender,..in other words, small-appliance repair?

I know there is a guy in Walnut Creek that repairs mixers. He should be on Yelp for Walnut Creek

Viktor showed up on the early side of the 3-5pm window and shot me a call and text when he was about 20 minutes away. He is super friendly and knowledgeable, as soon as he saw it was KitchenAid he said he was 90% sure it was a common issue but not serious one that he sees often in KA units and sure enough it was! He gave me some great tips on how to maintain the dishwasher as well and also suggested a couple of dishwashers to consider in the future. He then took a look at our fridge and gave me a couple of pointers on maintaining it, but also shared because it's a built-in replacing it will be $10-$15 for a new unit and suggested a couple of refurbish services they can do for much less but also said it's not needed yet. Pricing was upfront and more than fair, highly recommend Hi-Tech and Viktor is great!

While the initial diagnostic fee was a bit higher than some other companies, the value was clearly there. Viktor was truly invested in ensuring the appliance was actually fixed rather than just guessing at the problem. During the repair, he was incredibly thorough, rechecking all key components including the compressor and fan. He even took the time to show me exactly where the original control board had failed, which I really appreciated. Since Hi-Tech specializes in high-end appliances, they understand that repairing a quality machine is often much better than replacing it. If you want someone who is meticulous and knowledgeable about premium brands, Viktor is your guy.

Other companies didn't even bother asking. Basically, the oven temperature no longer consistent and fluctuates 50 degrees. This started after I was cleaning and my drip tray got caught on some wiring. After a 10-minute consultation, Vissal asked for the model number and once found, could set up the appointment. The next day I realized that even though I've had my Viking range 15 years (no longer under warranty) that it would be best to contact an Authorized Viking Repair company - I was referred to a company in San Jose. I texted Vissal that I was going another route and he quickly responded no problem. Friendly and professional customer service and thanks to Vissal for taking the time to work with me! It showed he really wanted to help which is much appreciated! Another 5-star review added to Top Tier Appliance Repair!

He was punctual, knowledgeable, kind, and reasonably priced. An all-around win! Months later I had another problem (I moved the stove to paint a wall and knocked things out of place). I called Matthew who patiently walked me through the process of locating reset buttons and adjusting misaligned tubes, fixing my issue over the phone, right there and then. I was aggravated, for we have had the range serviced several times, yet every year or two, new gas leaks would appear. I was getting ready to give up on having a vintage range, for though I had been promised that it was built like a tank and would work forever with maintenance, I was tired of paying for nearly annual visits to address new fails, each time after wondering for a couple of weeks if I was imagining the gas smell before calling PGE to verify that yes, I am smelling gas. On this visit Matt came out to fully address the repeated fails, far more thoroughly than my previous experiences. He ensured that quality parts were utilized, that the knobs were rigged so that they wouldn't cause fails, and ingeniously weighted the oven door so that it will stay fully open or shut; previously springs had been upgraded, but after a few months the door would creep partially open, so that oven temp couldn't be maintained. The stovetop and oven work better than they ever have in our 13 years of living here - the knobs turn smoothly, the gas comes out more fully and cleanly, the oven holds temperature, and best of all, no more gas leaks, and I believe that this time the repairs will hold, since Matt was so thorough. Matt said that he will stand by his work and ensure that this range continues to operate safely, which I appreciate, since I realized that at this time I'd really rather not have to re-wire the kitchen to accommodate an induction range.
