We ate breakfast on a Wednesday morning. We were there late morning. We found seating immediately. We ordered rather quickly and we waited. We order 2 eggs over medium with sausage and toast. And we waited. Other guests arrived and they found immediate seating. The server appeared to know some of the guests and greeted them warmly. And we waited. It's not very clean. I know Scottie's is a local icon and I hate to dis it. However, I wiped the salt and pepper shakers down with a wet one wipe. They were filthy. The wipe was gray and black with filth. What caught my eye to wipe them in the first place was the dirt I could see on the pepper shaker. That led to looking around. The bar at the base where the stools are located had so much filth build up at the base. Now for the food, average at best and over priced. It's definitely a work man's go to breakfast stop. Our waitress had been sick. She openly admitted it after I saw her wiping her nose with her wrist. She was coughing not even trying to cover her mouth. Never came for our money so we could get change. I had a basic waffle with burnt bacon. Husband had an "omelet". What a joke. Burnt coffee. The omelet was a single fried egg folded over like a taco. I saw the rave reviews on yelp and decided to give it a try despite my trepidation. Let me tell you this place has unmatched atmosphere. The folks who work here are sincere and they want people who stop in to have a good experience. I was very impressed with their attitude and work ethic. The prices are very reasonable. I couldn't believe what I was seeing on the menu. They actually list a small cheeseburger for 95 cents. I got a big cheeseburger for about 5 dollars. I was so busy eating I forgot to take a picture. My favorite - a plate of griddle-fried potatoes with a scoop of sausage gravy poured over, an order of sausage, two eggs, and a cup of coffee - $7.00. Breakfast served all day, except for the gravy. Theres no over priced fancy weird flavors or fruit or whip cream...you dont need it. These things are a big as a dinner plate, about 1.5 in. Thick. I've never seen such a thick waffle. It has a perfect crispy crust with a the perfect fluffy inside. This thing holds the syrup in the deep squares and doesn't get all soggy. I hate soft flimsy waffles. The lady there said they use a batter with malt. Its cash only and they still use the old type of cash register. Try it...you'll notv be out much if you don't like. I know...why 5 stars? Small diner with yummy home cooked food. Before leaving definitely try the Honey Buns!!! Staff was friendly and appeared knowledgeable about the menu and what items they had. Food was AMAZING especially for the small price tag. A little bit of a wait to get the food, but that is to be expected when everything is cooked and not being reheated (like many fast food establishments). Only complaints: 1) bathroom was filthy, didn't have toilet paper, had to use paper towels to wipe and my two year old who is potty trained had to be held up to keep him from touching the pee all over the toilet. 2) the restaurant had areas that needed to be cleaned that one could tell hadn't been done in a while. Not in areas that affected the food or the patrons while sitting and eating, but if you are affected by a restaurant not having immaculate cleaning standards then this is not the place for you. But, I for one will look forward to eating at this establishment again in the future as my experience was a positive one and I don't sweat the small stuff. read more

I've been meaning to try this place since we moved here in June and finally got to go there about two weeks ago. Since then I've been back twice and made my husband go also the last time I went. It's delicious!! My husband got the mini burgers and was sad he didn't order more. I always get an order of the breakfast potatoes which are so tasty! It's a little old fashioned diner with counter service and tables, like a ma and pa Waffle House only 10 times better and reasonably priced.
