    The raw steak

We were served a steak that was completely raw inside -- and after looking it up, it appeared to have what looked like an abscess in it. This is a serious food safety issue that could make someone sick. The steak was a wet dog food texture. Our waiter was kind and professional, but management never came over to apologize or address it at all. It was brushed off like it wasn't a big deal, which is unacceptable. I hope this location takes food safety and customer care more seriously moving forward.

I ordered a cheeseburger, medium well to-go. When I got home and heated it up it was raw. Literally pink. For what it's worth, they also forgot the bacon on the bacon cheeseburger.

OUTRAGEOUS! Save yourself the money and drive 20 minutes farther for a better TRH! I went for a second time 2 days later to see if anything had changed. Absolutely awful experience again. 2/6 meals were over & under cooked. The same manager came over & didnt listen to a word that was said & never came back. All the manager cared about was money after she brought back the second meal after re cooking it it was raw & the potato was burnt. She wouldnt of taken the meal off the plate unless she took the meal back like it wasnt wanted anyway.

Asked for a lid for a side cup of ranch 3 times. Never got it. Food was great though and service was fine until the end.

The restaurant looks great on the inside with its low lighting. The smell I got when I walked in…read morewas the light odor of cleaning bleach which is not the worst thing to smell. So I like they keep the place clean. I did smell it quite a bit during dinner though. The other off putting item for me involved the salmon dinner I got and a salad which came with it. I added some shaved chicken to my salad as that was an option for a modest up charge. The waitress informed me because I added the grilled chicken I would get a large salad. To that I said, I didn't want a large salad but she said she could bring a box with it so I could take the extra home. Hmmm. When my dining partner's salad came out my salad was not delivered which I thought was odd. I told him to eat. Maybe my salad was delayed because of the grilled chicken. Well, no. They delivered my salad with my entree. So that was weird and not expected. The salad was okay but they could have easily added my shaved chicken to the normal side salad they serve. Both salads have potato sticks on them...like potato chips on your salad. I'm not a huge fan. I couldn't finish my salad, didn't want to finish my salad and didn't take it home. It was weird having two dinner sized plates of food delivered to me after my dining partner had already eaten his salad and he just got a regular single plate of food. Odd dinner experience.

Came here on a Sunday, it had just snowed the night before so the restaurant wasn't super busy, but…read moreit still had a good crowd. We had heard of this place for a while and wanted to check it out and we're so glad we did. The food and service were amazing. Walking in it's a narrow restaurant, that has a bar on one side and tables on the other with kinda a rustic feel to it. We were seated immediately and our drink orders were taken. Since we hadn't been there before we got water and then pursued the menu a little for drinks. I had a question between two drinks and the server was very good at describing the drinks and ultimately decided to try the Darryl Strawberry, while my husband got the Nor'easter. The drinks came out and they were really good. They weren't overly strong, you could taste the bourbon in each of them, but it wasn't overpowering. For food we got the OPA! to start and then the Billy for me and the Mother Clucker for him. The OPA was awesome. It's pan seared feta with honey and served with fresh bread. The honey added a little extra sweetness to the feta which went really nicely with the crusty bread. The Billy had goat cheese, bacon, onions and, a tomato jam on it. It was delicious. The creamy goat cheese with the bacon and smokey tomato jam all went amazingly together. I got onion rings as my side, which were crunchy hot and so so good. The Mother Clucker was also really good. I only had a bite of it to try, but was definitely impressed. My husband upgraded to the duck fat fries which were out of this world. Super crunchy, great flavor. Our server kept checking back on us the whole time making sure we were satisfied with our drinks and food, but we had absolutely no complaints. This is a great place for a date if you want good food or to hang out with friends. We will definitely be back.

My buddy opted for the Spicy Smash. The burgers were mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmm great, Juicy and the bun held up. Fries were fresh and would like to see maybe a topping or poutine option for them. Cool spot to get some AC and great burger before a Smokies game or a night in the old City.

SmashCity wasn't far off of the interstate, it had good ratings and although we'd been eating burgers and fries quite a bit on this roadtrip, a good burger and fries really sounded good. All of the reviews were right on - this was absolutely NOT fast food - it was fast, really fast, but the speed was just bonus. As we usually do, we split. We chose the Carolina BBQ smash. The burgers were juicy - if you're not careful, I guarantee you'll be wearing it. Two critiques, it definitely needed more sauce - I just added some of the SmashCity sauce from our fries and it worked but I really would have liked to have had more BBQ sauce. Second, the fried onions were quite burned. I pulled off most of them. The hand cut fries were piping hot, just the right amount of greasy and seasoned perfectly. Splitting the burger was a good call - I'd never have eaten the whole thing myself. The burger and fries were just over $20. When you consider a Big Mac meal at that clown place is $14, SmashCity is almost a bargain. Paul, the owner was like the energizer bunny - he was everywhere at once. Personality oozed from his pores. Make sure you tell him Sue said hi! (He won't remember me but just say hi anyway!) Now I wouldn't say SmashCity has the best burgers - that award goes to our friend Jerry. He makes a pretty mean smash burger on the blackstone. If you have an extra half hour, skip the fast food burger joints, get off that highway, and go let Paul fill your belly for the rest of your trip! You'll appreciate it!
