My truck was overheating, they flushed the radiator and said it was good.$158.00. One hour later it over heated again. They said it needed a new radiator and a new starter. $1358.00. They called me an said they replaced the radiator and starter and drove it for a while and the motor had a crack in the block. I asked how much, I was quoted $15000.00. I said no way. They said they would only charge me $1000.00. I towed it back home to oklahoma and my mechanic said it was a blown head gasket and charged me a total of 2800.00 to fix it. Beware!! My son brought his Jeep into Scott's on 34th to replace the fuel rail line and left it with them. He called back after a couple of days and they said it was back ordered and it would be a few days. 3 1/2 WEEKS later, still no part or any idea of when it would come in. We ordered the part in Dallas (where we live) and I sent it back with him this past week. He took the part in and about 2 hours later they said the vehicle was ready. The labor was over $450. I questioned Scott's and they said they had 2 mechanics working on it. Not a mechanic and a helper but 2 mechanics. Completely overcharged and all they said was that is what we charge. I check with some shops in Dallas and they said labor should have been half that much. Then they charged me for a couple of gaskets for over $100. Wish I would have read the reviews before we went there. (Yes this was a lesson for my son - but a very expensive one on me.) read more

I went here to get a part fixed on a 2002 Ford Taurus. I got it fixed and never thought twice about it. A couple months pass... the same part breaks again. These guys charged me for the price of a "new" part and labor. The second time it broke... I decided to fix it myself. I found out... these guys tried to patch the part. Instead of replacing the part, they attached a rubber hose in place. The part was rusted from the inside. Why not just replace the part you charged me for? This is why I don't trust any mechanics. Prior to this experience Scott's was the only place in town I would take my truck. I took my pickup to Scott's in January 2017 to have a part for my air conditioner replaced, a common issue for a 2009 F150. In order to replace this part the dashboard has to be removed which takes about 8 hours. I was billed according to the amount of labor which came out to $1,050. I was pleasantly surprised that they got the job done in one day. Recently the same part failed which I know was no fault of Scott's. I did some research and found that there is a way to replace this part without removing the dash however it requires making some modifications to some of the duct work surrounding this part. When I got to the part of the job where I could see the part I found out that Scott's had already chopped up the duct work for me. So I paid over $1000 for Scott's to remove my dash and do the job correctly but instead they took a shortcut that would have taken them less than three hours to do and they chopped up my truck in the process. I am 100% sure they did because that part had never been replaced in the past except at Scott's. I explained this to Scott and I was basically told that I was lying and they did not short cut the job. These guys are crooks and they have no shame. If you have ever had a blend door actuator on your 2009-2015 F150 you may want to have someone (or yourself) take a look. They may have ripped you off too. read more

Lost oil filter gasket, caused major engine oil leak, refused responsibility and treated me like a crook. I changed oil and installed the oil filter myself a month before the repair. I distinctly remember spreading oil on the gasket and installing that filter. I've been meticulously going through the same procedure for the past 20 years on my 3 cars. Nobody has touched that car, except for Scott's shop. They replaced the alternator, which is right next to that oil filter. 2 weeks later the red oil pressure indicator came on and oil was dripping. After towing and lifting the car, it turned out the oil filter gasket was missing, and, obviously, the oil was leaking from there. This is what happened, make your own judgment about the cause. So I called Scott's shop and asked to reimburse me for the expenses I incurred due to the oil leak. The guy on the phone didn't go to the shop to talk to mechanics. He instead just denied that it was their fault. If I wanted to talk about reimbursements, I'd have to wait 3 weeks for a Scott the owner to return from vacation. Then he asked if I had receipts for towing and oil/filter expenses. When I said I didn't, he laughed and said they couldn't reimburse without receipts. read more

I've been to Scotts several times in the past year. Each time they treated me fairly, and honestly. This was very apparent recently when I had another shop (Christian bros) fix my rear brakes. They continued to squeak, and eventually I had to bring them to Scotts to repair correctly. It was a lesson for me - next time I come here first! So far this year they have done 4 repairs for me, and given me another 2-3 estimates. About a week and a half ago, I brought my 2001 Honda Civic in with an AC that was not working. Shortly after, they called me back and told me the compressor was shot and that it would cost over $1300 to replace the system. I declined, not wanting to sink that kind of money into such an old car. Just yesterday, while getting my oil changed at Take 5, they checked out my cabin filter and discovered it was considerably dirty. After replacing the filter, not only was my AC working again, it was blowing colder than it ever had before. This tells me one of two things: either Scott's is completely incompetent in diagnosing AC systems, or they see a young fresh faced guy walking in as an opportunity to taken them for everything they have. Either way, I would caution anyone against bringing their vehicle to this mechanic, especially if you are college aged. I'm glad I didn't give them a single dime, and I will not be bringing them any more vehicles in the future. read more

Called ahead about getting an alignment done. They said I could drop off furing lunch and get a ride back to work. Had to wait 45 minutes before I could get a ride back to work. Also, my husband came in the day before at 4pm about the alignment...told the guy at the counter what he needed and the guy just flat out said "nope", followed by awkward silence, so hubby was like, "well....why not?" Guy behind the counter said "it takes an hour to do the alignment" hubby says: "its 4, you close at six" guy behind counter: "well it takes 2 hours". So really, it was late in the day and they just didnt want to do it. The guy at the counter should have just been up front about it. The whole conversation really rubbed my husband the wrong way. I had an experience that made me not trust Scott's Complete Care Care: I took my New Mexico-plated car to Scott's to get an inspection for titling and registering in TX. Scott's told me my car failed due to an exhaust leak under the car, by the muffler. They gave me no documentation, but referred me to University Muffler for repair. The muffler repair shop was busy, so they said I should return for the work in the afternoon. When I returned, they were closed. As I waited, I thought: I had never smelled exhaust from my car while at a stop light. My vehicle passed emissions inspections in both Virginia and New Mexico this year. Lubbock requires safety inspection, but not emissions inspection. I suspected they were trying to get extra money out of a an ignorant driver by making an unnecessary repair. I had my car inspected at another location, and it did pass. I do not trust Scott's complete Car Care! read more

I went to the 70th St. & Indiana location for an estimate to replace a bypass hose on 6-9-2015. The shop manager said it would be $159.15 and they could do it right then. Upon remitting the payment, I was advised my car has a serious oil leak. Est. cost $190 and could replace the gasket right then. After looking at the oil spewing from the valve cover, I was STUNNED. This was not present at the time I brought it in. No history of leaking since a gasket was replaced in 2012. On 6-6-2015, a mechanic friend came to my home to look at the antifreeze leak. My purpose was to validate this was a hose and not the water pump. He confirmed it was the bypass hose needed to be replaced. There was no oil leak. I have no doubt someone tampered with my car in hopes to scare me into remitting additional money. I was required to sign a waiver of liability on the invoice that I refused repairs. Now my car is not driveable and sitting in a puddle of oil on my driveway. read more

The management at Scott's lied and failed to acknowledge fault for a poorly mounted transmission which caused an entire clutch kit to fail while my son was driving down the highway at 70 MPH. Ultimately, their shoddy workmanship stranded my son some 80 miles from home. Upon visiting with a young man at Scott's who I can only assume was irresponsibly placed in a position of management, I was assured that Scott's would honor the warranty. However, when I produced the car three days later, they refused to repair the broken parts. The same young man who assured me the work would be covered then began to interrupt and speak over me, accusing me of becoming hostile. I told him that I refused to accept this behavior and he needed to tell the owner to come up with a better solution. Three days later, I had yet to receive a call, so returned yet again to resolve the problem. Again, the young man was very rude and continually spoke over me, stating directly that my son is a "bad driver who has no idea what he's doing." Upon asking for a physical copy of the warranty, he stated that they didn't have any available and that he "[had] no idea where to find one" but that I and my husband were welcome to return the next day to speak with the owner, Scott. My husband returned the next day, where Scott offered to refund the cost of the part, but not the labor. He bragged that he manages 16 mechanics, that he can't be held responsible for their performance all the time, and that he makes millions each year. He also invited us to contact a lawyer if we thought we could get the additional $900 from him. I'm not contacting a lawyer, but I am going to spread the word that this man and his employees are rude liars who provide terrible service and shoddy workmanship. If you value your investments and your lives (or those of your children), don't place your trust in this shop. I still cannot believe how completely irresponsible and unprofessional these people are. If you're a woman, it won't matter how intelligent you are nor that you're a paying customer. You will be mansplained and talked down to, and none of it will make much rational sense. As a side note, Scott's charged us around 15% more for the original, now worthless, clutch kit than four other mechanics I recently contacted. read more

This place was great. Every mechanic I called on New Years Eve told me there was no way I could get my defroster fixed which meant I couldn't safely drive my car until after the holiday. Scott's told me to come on in and they would do everything they could. They did that and more! The part that was broken would have normally cost $400 and if ordered would arrive in 2 weeks. Had my 2002 model car, which I bought new 13 years ago, shaking when I'd let the clutch out and start in first gear from being stopped at a light, sign, etc. This happened every time. No one could tell me what it was. Finally, I took it to Reuben's at Scott's on the advice of a co-worker. Turned out the last time someone at a different place had put the clutch in, they hadn't considered the flywheel, and the clutch wasn't connecting, so the car shook so bad people even around me would get nervous. Scott's fixed it so well that it was literally as good as new. I was ready to unload this car that I enjoyed so much, but Scott's gave it new life. That was earlier this year. Yesterday, I stopped by to make an appointment for an alignment. I had hit a pothole avoiding a car on Black Friday traffic, and the car was wobbling at lower speeds. Reuben took the car and said they could let me know in three hours. Before that, he called, it was fixed, and the car was ready to pick up. He told me that the alignment was an easy fix, but that I had a bad tire with a knot in it, and if I had a warranty to take it back -- he even told me the place could call him to confirm. Well, I took my car to the place I got the tires, and after looking at it, they weren't sure anything was wrong. The guy called Reuben, who walked him through it. I have a new tire on the car now, covered by the warranty. I went and drove around town last night enjoying my old car's new feel. I commute a lot several hundred miles away on weekends, and having this car be reliable and safe is very important to our family. I can't thank Scott's and Reuben enough. And I cannot recommend a better place to do business with -- they are as good as it gets, and I am very, very grateful. read more

Prior to my daughter coming home from Texas Tech her 2002 Honda Civic started acting up. She took it to Scott's Complete Car Care, and I received a phone call telling me it was the timing belt for $689. The car had to be drivable for the 8 hour trip so I had them fix it. She broke down 3 times and it took her over 10 hours. When she got home I took the car to our local mechanic and found out is wasn't the timing belt, it was the cam sensor for $345. I will never take another vehicle to Scott's Complete Car Care because I depended on them with my being 8 hours away and my daughter driving home alone, and they failed miserably. Maybe next time they should do a little more than hook up a machine to a vehicle to figure out what is wrong with it. read more
