The food, the ambiance- its like being on a cruise liner inside- chic wood. The patio is beautiful winter or summer. But the part that brings me back every time is the attention to detail on every plate- the jumbo shrimp, the lobster, the oysters!! If you like salmon- this is the place! The salads- so many! And then the desserts! My husband says that the margaritas are divine too. Down to the fresh sour dough bread and the chilled butter- it's so rich that it tastes like a fine cheese. I haven't written a review in over a year but wanted to quickly write about what a great birthday celebration we had here with my mom over the weekend. We had planned on having lunch in SF but last minute decided to do it in the East Bay. I spent all night looking at restaurants and booked reservations here and I'm so glad we did! Service here is great! We had the friendliest and most attentive server. We had drinks and complimentary beignets on our table that my mom loved so much we ended up getting a second plate of them! We ordered the oysters rockefeller, crab and avocado salad, southern soft shell crab breakfast, linguine and clams, and the cioppino. I rarely get cioppino because its often not that good but I kept fighting my husband for more bites of his! I think its one of the best I've ever had and its served with the best garlic bread ever which we ordered seconds of. Every single dish was delicious. Highly recommend reservations so you can get a seat by the water. We saw there was a free ferry right across from the restaurant so we hopped on it after to go to Alameda and it was so fun! Also loved the live music they had on the piano. I saw a bunch of people dancing to it! They're having their 50th anniversary right now for the next few months and it looks like they have a bunch of specials. Already can't wait to come back! We had one of the best dining experiences last night at Scott's. Thank you Kylie, Natalia and the entire staff for treating us like family. The ambiance is amazing, from the piano player to the impeccably dressed staff and the gorgeous views this restaurant provides a superb dining experience. The attention to detail is what I love most. Little doilies on each plate, a lemon cut in a pattern sprinkled with parsley, a silver tray brought to the table holding sculpted butter balls and accompanying goodies for our baked potato, beautiful dishes and forks for each course. Scott's does it right. My favorite era is the 1950's and Frank Sinatra's "Rat Pack" and this restaurant makes you feel like you're dining with them. They go above and beyond to give you an amazing experience! They ask if you're celebrating something and we told them that our brother is visiting from out of town and our wonderful server said "Isn't family the best thing to celebrate?" And she brought us a complimentary dessert and a gorgeous red rose. Scott's truly is fine dining and we are so blessed to have them right in our own backyard. I came here for a work lunch and it was an excellent experience! There was no line - in fact the restaurant was only about 25% full. We were seated at a window table overseeing the boat docks and water. We started off with a couple orders of the Traditional Scott's Trio for the table. Absolutely delish! Watch out for the Cajun sauce on the shrimp - it's got some zest to it! For my entree, I had the linguine and clams. It came out fresh and hot. No fishy smells to the clams and wonderful and not overpowering garlic. Again, prepared extremely well. Very easy to have conversations here - not noisy at all. We watched our nephew's theater performance(Cantonese opera) in Laney College last Saturday. We did enjoy it since it's a new experience even though we didn't get to understand lol However, the story was explained to us after by my nephew so we kind of got it. After the show, and it was for a late lunch already, we went to Scotts and it did not disappoint. I actually made the reservation first at Farmhouse Kitchen nearby (Jack London Square) couple days before but since its for 5 pm only, and that was their earliest available and that's too late already. I had to change to Scotts cause they have few more tables open. We did order their appetizers trio and Famous seafood salad as starters. Then the four of us ordered - burger w fries; porkchop; chicken piccata; petrale sole. Everything was delicious and presentation were awesome. Big servings though. The staff were pleasant and service were great as well. The place is huge and has an amazing oceanview with the boats parked afloat. We were seated by the oceanside so it was perfect. The Christmas decors made it even more outstanding and impressive. I really enjoy and love that holiday festive mode. Their restroom is clean and thats the number one I check as always in an establishment. We go here at JLS 1-2x a year and i was just bummed out that the weather was bad, we didn't get to walk around the area like we always used to after dining. I highly recommend Scotts. Was in town recently and after a walk through Jack London Square we were looking for a place to grab meal, it was still pretty early in the morning. Sunday New Orleans Style Jazz Brunch was good, there was a piano player laying down some really nice jazz and they bring a nice tray of Beignets to the table while you wait for your meal. The staff and all the servers were very attentive to our tables needs, the service was very good the morning of our visit I went with the Scotts Crab Cakes Benedict, which consisted of two nicely poached eggs over two crab cakes with Hollandaise, fresh fruit and fingerling potatoes. The eggs were perfect, the crab cakes were really good but small, the sauce also very good, the fruit was fresh and very nice, the potatoes by comparison underwhelming. My breakfast companions each ordered different entrees, they both appeared to like theirs and stated as such. Earnestly Fine Situated at Jack London Square, they are going all out to provide fine dining in Oakland. The place looks nice, well kept. Decor shows obvious effort to go above and beyond. They even had a piano player for the dinner hour. I had the dungeoness crab encrusted swordfish, substantial and solid without being dry and overdone. My wife had the filet mignon and enjoyed it so much she didn't even share a bite with me! Key lime pie was good. I found it too bitter, but my wife says I have too much of a sweet tooth. Fish was good Clams with linguine - too much extra stuff in the sauce, didn't let the clams shine on its own I don't particularly like the menu style. Can't order a side salad with your meal. I had some food at Scott's along with my partner and their family members. This restaurant is definitely not the place to go for vegetarians - even the salads contain meat. I ended up only trying dessert, taking a slice of white chocolate cheesecake to go, which was pretty good and I especially liked the Oreo crust bottom but I feel like the white chocolate didn't have as strong a flavor as I expected. My dining mates expressed the raw oysters were so-so and tasted a little funny (almost a grainy or sandy texture?) and that the fish and chips was actually one of the better entrees they tried, although it was one of the cheapest. Overall, the food is really expensive and overpriced. Interestingly enough, although one person in our party was wearing pajama pants, she was still allowed in, despite Scotts supposedly having a dress code that forbids sleepwear. Went to Scott's Seafood Grill & Bar to celebrate two family members' birthdays for dinner because one of them wanted to come here. Had a reservation for 6 at 5pm on a Saturday. Located at Jack London Square, request a table located along the waterfront (if possible) so that your party can enjoy the views of the Oakland Estuary. Service (3/5): Pros: The busser immediately brought bread and water for our table. After our waitperson came and introduced herself to our table, she was attentive and promptly responded to our requests. Cons: Given the "traditional/fine dining" vibe and price point of this restaurant, when we were seated at our table, we were surprised to notice that one place setting was missing a bread plate and a knife. After we were seated, unfortunately we were left alone for at least 10 minutes. Perhaps there was a shift change in our area, or they were left scrambling a bit since our whole party didn't assemble until about 15 minutes after our reservation timeslot, but it was disappointing that we felt ignored until our assigned waitperson actually came to our table. At the end of our meal service, we asked our waitress if the restaurant validates parking. She could have politely told us, no, unfortunately, the Jack London Square parking garage does not accept any parking validations. We don't mind paying for parking but would have appreciated more transparency. Food (3.5/5): We ordered the following appetizers: Grilled Salmon Cakes, Prawn Cocktail with Traditional Cocktail Sauce, Cape Cod Seared Scallops, and Crab and Avocado Salad. Two guests also ordered clam chowder soups (not pictured). They were all good except for the salmon cakes--which were a bit lackluster and dry. The group consensus favorite appetizer was the Crab & Avocado Salad because it was original, creative, light, and refreshing. These six entrees followed: Surf & Turf, Grilled Local Petrale Sole Dore, Scott's Famous Dungeness Crab & Seafood Cioppino, Petite Filet Mignon, Blackened Catfish, and Herb Encrusted Halibut. Everybody mentioned that their entrees were satisfactory except the person who ordered the Surf & Turf was disappointed with her dish. While her filet mignon was fine, it seemed to her that her lobster tail was rubbery/ overcooked--not plump nor mildly sweet (and it had a bit of gray discoloration along one side). The garlic mashed potatoes that came on the side of 4 of the entrees was thick and pasty--like a solid mass. You could put your fork into the middle and pick the whole thing up. For Desserts: Key Lime Pie (not pictured), Strawberry Shortcake, Bananas Foster Bread Pudding, and Scott's Black and Tan. For the two birthday guests, they also received a free scoop of raspberry sorbet and a complimentary rose. The Bananas Foster Bread Pudding was a delicious concoction when you bit into a piece of the banana bread with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. The shortcake in the strawberry shortcake was dry and only saved by generously soaking it in the strawberry puree and eating it with a slice of strawberry and whipped cream. Parking: You can choose to self-park in the Jack London Square underground parking garage (Broadway & Embarcadero West). Remember, there is no validation for parking. Alternatively, you may use the valet parking service (but we didn't). All in all, come here for the waterfront view and the ambiance of a nice restaurant. Overall, service was great and they accommodated our request outside by the corner to allow room for the stroller. We ordered chicken wings (there were only two wings cut in two pieces with coleslaw), beef sliders (two, the buns were way larger than the patties, they came with housemade spicy potato chips that tasted like they had been sitting out for a while. They weren't very crunchy) and fried Brussels Sprouts, (there was only about a half a cup). Each item was $11. Which is a good price. But I would have rather paid a little more to have a little more food. We were very disappointed. I guess it wasn't meant to be shared. It was okay for one person. But we didn't know. We were used to ordering items and sharing loke we do at most restaurants. All of the food was tasty. Just not enough. read more

We sat at the bar and ordered a bottle of wine, seafood tower and cioppino. Wine was overpriced and the manager seemed to not care our concerns about the service we shared our disappointed in. When your paying these types of pricing service should be on point and not the bartender giving us sighs when we keep asking for others items. I attended a company event at Scott's and ordered the fettuccine with fresh vegetables, and it was horrible. The fettuccine had no flavor, and the vegetables were anything but "fresh."
