The Yard at Saltbreaker is a casual outdoor eatery with full bar and food truck kitchen. The outdoor is partially covered with canopies to provide shade from the sun but there is also seating to enjoy the warmth of the sun if you want. Two coded unisex restrooms. The service was pleasant and helpful. Smoked Tri-Tip Cheesesteak: house smoked tri-tip, toasted French baguette, garlic aioli, bell pepper, onions, jalapeño, banana peppers, white American cheese (4/5). Smokey, tender, and flavorful. A pretty tasty sandwich. Pesto Pasta Salad: cavatappi pasta, pesto, mozzarella pearls, sun dried tomatoes, red onions, capers, black olives (4/5). A generous and hefty portion! Simple but classic. Complimentary iced water, hand sanitizer, & sunscreen lotion. Support your local business.

Really fun and cute outdoor place! The tables have QR codes so you can order on your phone. You can also choose to order just for yourself at the table or for a whole group, making splitting bills easy! My husband enjoyed his smash burger thoroughly and I really liked my battered beer fish and chips. The cod was tender and juicy, and I also really enjoyed the fries - satisfying thin and crispy texture! The two non alcoholic drinks we got were excellent, too.

$$22 smash burger made with waygu, yes! Outdoors seating for about 50, and fresh cooked, parking can be hard in the street and a decent lot. Repeat, yes!

Nice location, outdoor seating, good for a sunny day. We ordered at the register, looked like they had a small bar. I got the smash burger and a root beer. Burger was fine, not best smash burger ive had but ok. A little pricey. Abita root beer was good. Overall, ok visit. Food was good but I'd probably try out another spot in the area before coming back here.

I was so excited to try this place after hearing so many good reviews, but unfortunately had an extremely disappointing experience. I admittedly arrived around 5:15pm on a Saturday and they close at 6pm, so it was the last hour of service. Nonetheless, the arrival started off good with a server greeting me and my partner before we sat down. We used the QR code to place our order which conveniently had a lot of check box options to customize our orders. I got a smash burger and substituted a vegan beyond patty. According to their menu, the smash burger comes with special sauce, cheese, red onions, bacon, lettuce, mustard, and pickles. I customized mine to have no bacon, no cheese, and no mustard, and for the pickle to be on the side. The smash burger I got was not what I ordered. It was a sad, small burger, with very little sauce and by that I mean practically none, barely any lettuce, and they did not give me red onions or a pickle. I was immediately disappointed when it arrived at my table and my partner insisted we say something because the order was incorrect and it was $28 for the burger and side of fries. We had also ordered drinks which were good but expensive. After my partner talked to a server and cashier, they just said "we will check to see what your order was." The server came back to our table, did not apologize or anything and just said "yeah we looked at your order and this is exactly it." I couldn't believe what they said and took a minute to process before I responded with no it's not, that's the whole point why I said something. I told them there is very little sauce and no onions. I forgot to mention that there was no pickle either, but that was another thing wrong. The server offered to remake it or just bring me out the missing sides. I was annoyed, they were about to close, and at this point I knew I would not be coming back and I was hungry so I accepted them just bringing out sides. They brought out white onions, not red onions, and a side of sauce. Thinking about this whole experience from the service, lack of apology and accountability, mid food, small portions, and overpriced menu, I would not recommend this place to anyone.

TL:DR Parking. If using Google Maps or Apple Maps the parking lot is only for the residents. Pro tip. Go to the stop and take a left toward the water. There is a small parking right next to the patio in the left hand side Service - prompt, friendly and efficient Food Pasta salad - great flavor and you get a lot Chopped cheese - yum. If you like a cheeseburger then you'll like this NY spin. Maybe not 100% bodega but does the trick.

*Chopped Cheese For The Win* Recently while on Alameda Island we stopped at The Yard at Saltbreaker after (also) hearing/reading so many cool reviews and mentions of this new-ish spot. I still haven't been to Saltbreaker, but would love to make a reservation soon. As The Yard mentions, they are like Saltbreaker "but with flip-flops". In other words, an outdoor patio/shipping container with plenty of outdoor seating and all the vibes...located right outside the sit-down restaurant and across the way from Humble Sea if you know the area. Some notes: check their days/times before heading over because they aren't open everyday, and also, you order from a QR code. They have the most friendliest staff that helped answer questions for us 'first-timers' who needed some TLC outside of a QR code ordering system. After we were settled we ordered a few drinks. The Aperol Spritz is a highlight, no doubt, especially while sitting outdoors in the beautiful East Bay island weather. We then ordered a Caesar salad to split, and the Chopped Cheese with fries. Served on a fresh Dutch Crunch roll (such a nice surprise), the sandwich came with sautéed peppers and onions, cherry peppers, a garlic aioli, and American cheese ($20). It was perfection. I would travel through the Webster Tube again for this sandwich alone. Other notable menu items I would travel back to try? The Smash Burger, 'Yard' Dog, Southwest Chicken Sandwich, and Fried Cauliflower Buffalo Wings..so essentially most of the menu :) Parking is accessible on the island, and there are so many other spots to travel to if wanting to spend some time in the area. Oh! Also there's a kiddo menu, dessert menu, mocktail menu, and did I mention fresh oysters?!

Ambiance - niiiiice. I felt like I was on or near a tropical beach. Service was good, staff was friendly. The chopped cheese was deeeelicious. The shoestring fries were thinner than I'm used to, but they were still good, especially with the old bay seasoning. The oyster shooter was good, but the pickle juice and tequila was... not good. I couldn't finish it. I'd probably get the oyster shooter again, but with a different shooter option. My husband was not impressed with the fish and chips (not a lot of flavor). My friend enjoyed her smash burger.

I ordered a beer battered cod & it came w/ house made tartar sauce, malt vinegar, & ketchup. The batter was lightly fried and didn't taste oily. Fries were crispy and on the thinner cut version. Very addicting to munch on. For drinks, I ordered Scarlett "crazy" cactus cooler because why not? Yum. My margarita wasn't too spicy. My friend ordered a smash burger and the other friend ordered a chopped cheese with bay fries. Both of them enjoyed their food. Also, ordered 6 oysters to share and it tasted fresh. Service was great and attentive. The vibe and ambiance sitting outdoors was nice. It was such a beautiful day! In walking distance of Almanac Beer. I would recommend!

Huge fans of Saltbreaker, we finally got a chance to try The Yard. The Yard is Saltbreaker's hipster Gen Z sibling, located right next to Saltbreaker. Outdoor seating only. Nicely done patio, with ample seating. We ordered a round of the oysters, which were fresh and delicious, priced at $42/dz. Good drink selection with a full bar and something to quench everyone's thirst. Service is good, albeit more casual than next door. Our server was nice and moved a heater next to us and gave us a blanket when she noticed we were cold. We would return, most likely to hang out while waiting for Saltbreaker next door to open.

Super cute place. Plenty of parking and beautiful view. Very friendly staff, and dog friendly places. Food is yummy. But youll need to order before sitting down.

We found this spot on Yelp and decided we should give it a try. At first, we thought we were lost because it's a little hidden, but once we found it, it was such a pleasant surprise. The outdoor space has a great, laid-back vibe and is the perfect place to relax. We ordered right at our table, and our food was brought out to us, which made the experience even more convenient. We ordered the fish and chips, and they were absolutely amazing--lightly breaded, perfectly fried, and full of flavor. We're so glad we found this place and will definitely be back!

Great spot to hang out if you have dogs since it's outdoors. Some of the tables have a fire pit, which is great when it's cold. Our server Cameron was very nice amd attentive. Food overall was delicious. We got the oysters, which wasn't too briny and the sauce was good. Clam chowder in the bread bowl was delicious but a little salty. Fish and chips were decent but too salty. The one we really liked the most was the chopped cheese roll. Lots of good flavor in the Dutch crunch roll. Drinks were also really good. I got the Rekindling a Cold Flame and Scarlett's Crazy Cactus Cooler. Recommend these drinks if you like tequila. Overall, this is a great spot to check out if you're in Alameda with family, friends and dogs. Would come back again just for the chopped cheese roll

Nice grassy area that is kid friendly :)

I actually haphazardly stumbled upon this place a few months back after hanging out at a brewery…read morenext door. After scoping out the vibes of the place and the menu, I told myself to make sure to give this a shot. The place is in a redeveloped corner of Alameda right next to the bay. Probably used to be Navy base grounds back in the day. But now there's a couple of blocks worth of hip warehouse-y type of buildings, mostly restaurants, beer spots, some lofts and a little retail commerce. Very happening even though the surrounding area is a ghost town. Dining area not too big, maybe a couple of rooms that can hold about 20-30 heads each. Think there's another room for a private party/overflow. Decor pretty minimalist and stark. Service on the upscale side but in my stay, matched the decor, very minimalist and stark. Efficient enough but a little terse with little emotion. But I know service personality can differ from time to time or person to person. Just my obsy for one out. Daily Crudo ($20/4*) I think this rotates daily. Our choices that day was hamachi or a house smoked sturgeon. The sturgeon really piqued my interest but then it really wouldn't be a 'crudo' anymore would it, since I relate crudos to something 'raw-ish'. So I chose the hamachi. Very pretty plating, I love symmetry and balance. The thin slices of hamachi were indeed fresh, sitting in a stealthy pool of yuzu and olive oil. There are some fresno pepper slices and microgreens that garnish and a delicious nori cracker to break and accompany the crudo. This went really well with my glass of Fume Blanc. Caeser ($17/4.5*) We split this salad as their version sounded super cool. A miso-tinged Caeser dressing, lots of rustic garlic croutons and feathery soft grated parm and a soft-boiled egg. I love properly made Caesers and this was one of the best and unique versions I've ever had. The umami punch and the diverse textures just hit with me. A tad salty for a salad, but the crunchy and refreshing lettuce was able to absorb the salt blast. Huge salad too, like ideal for splitting and ridiculously large if for 1. Beef Short Rib ($43/4*) This was on special that night, and since I wasn't feeling Steak Frites (their only other beef entree option) this kinda fell on my lap. Very heavy and hearty dish. The short rib part was impeccable, super tender, gotta be sous vide. Perfectly seasoned with braising elements completely penetrated into the meat. There was a coarse gravy/sauce that covered which was okay, may have been the braising liquid just pureed. Served atop a huge pile of some risotto that I didn't inquire about. This risotto is what made the dish especially heavy. I ate most of it and it put me in a heavy carb coma. Lol. But there was a nice serving of perfectly cooked broccolini which helped balanced out the rich beef and carb heavy risotto. Chocolate Bar ($13/4.5*) Shared this for dessert as I really couldn't take more than just a few bites after the filling entree. But was this impressive, like high end dessert quality. Whoever does the desserts here definitely has some pedigree. The precision cut bar consisted of 3 layers. A brownie layer; a Bailey's mousse; and a salted caramel layer. I was loving the texture of all the different layers playing on one another. And every flavor was distinct without being overly sweet, which hit the right chords with me. A thick ganache garnished off to the side, which was good but just seemed a bit overkill with the already chocolate dominant bar. I think a cream element would have been a better contrast instead of rich chocolate on rich chocolate. But very minor quip on an otherwise skillful dessert. I finished the last few sips of my glass of Rhone with this dessert, and it left me one happy camper. I would definitely return as their style with flavors hits an accord with me. A little French, a smidge of Japanese and a lot of California. Rounding to a fiver, as this place made me more happy than not.

Thank you Nique for hooking myself and Hubby up with tickets to this years event!…read more Not having been on the USS Hornet before I was really looking forward to this event. I mean.. a party on a huge ass ship, what's not to be excited about? The event was fun, as well as tribute bands (Zebop, a Santana tribute band and The Cocktail Monkeys) but there was also my favorite radio station (107.7 The Bone) too who were taking pictures of guests as they arrived. There was also a short ''haunted tour'', I didn't find it particularly haunting but it was hilarious laughing at everybody else screaming their pants off when someone jumped out of the shadows. Other entertainers were located throughout the length of the ship with a Psychic in the middle and lady doing acrobatics in ribbons suspended from the ceiling which was really impressive. Everybody was dressed for the occasion and some of them were pretty cool like the guy in a trash bag with a ''white trash'' sign around his neck, the couple dressed an glow in the dark stick men and Jesus. Some were a little weird and confusing too.. like the couple dressed as Santa and a little girl complete with Teddy Bear. Actually, that was a little creepy... There were a few duplicate costumes - 2 Batman's, 2 Superman's and dozens of Pirates and Pirate Wenches which I think stood for about 35% of the people in attendance I was however surprised to see Hubby and I as the only Marvel characters and completely ironic having 2 British people dressed as Captain America. Drinks and food was available at the concessions stands as well as a small store selling TShirts, Guitar picks and various other nik naks that was located towards the back of the ship and a flight simulator near the main dance floor which was $6 per person. Awesome ship, Great costumes and fun night = A good start to the Halloween festivities.

The USS Hornet has it's separate Yelp review already. However, I write this review specifically for…read morethe Halloween Monster Bash they hold every single year. This was my first time attending. There were plenty of parties around the Bay Area, but this was the only one that catered to those UNDER 21. This was perfect as I wanted to be able to have fun with other family friends who were not over 21. I looked EVERYWHERE, for prior reviews to give us an idea of what to expect, but was unsuccessful. So hopefully this review will help potential attendees in the future. The general admission tickets for adults 18+ is $20 presale, and $25 at the door. For kids/teens up to 17 is only $10 presale AND at the door. Keep in mind this is pricing for 2010. It might change next year. Parking is FREE, and there is plenty, so do not worry about anything with that. The $25 price tag was exactly WHY I wanted to read reviews, because there is no refunds (like most). We said what the heck and went for it. As mentioned parking was easy and free. The USS Hornet if you don't already know is a huge naval ship that served in 3 wars. The venue is ON THE SHIP! How can you beat that! The ship is docked and stationary so do not worry about getting seasick. You do not feel any swaying at all. You have to walk a good amount of steps to get to the floor where the venue is held at. This is a HUGE ship, so there is an assigned section. For disabled and handicaps, I did not see it, but there were a few there, so they should have special accommodations. Once we get to the designated area, the place is HUGE and ROOMY. It's a long wide corridor. There are some classic aviation vehicles that guests can admire. There was a good amount of people, but you never feel overcrowded because this space can house many comfortably. I need to commend the entire staff aboard the USS Hornet, the older staff members, perhaps veterans, were absolutely nice. They always greet you with a smile. How is the crowd? Although it is for all ages, the younger audience is the minority. There are a good handful of kids, but this is clearly an adult event. They have a section for kids that included skeeball, whack'a'mole, tv with a movie playing, air hockey table, face painting, and other activities. Everyone dresses up! From mild to wild. You will see a variety of different costumes. The crowd is diverse, old to young. There are a few who don't dress up, but they were definitely the minorities. There is haunted "house" type of attraction included with your entrance. This was probably the most disappointing. You walk through a lower corridor medical hanger, decorated as a haunted version. But there were little to no scares. The scares consisted of yelling at you surprisingly to try and catch you by surprise. It was a waste of space, because once you see what they can work with, they definitely could make an outstanding haunted tour with genuine scares. Good effort though. The main event, is the music and dancing. From open to 12AM, you have a live band performing. This year it was the Crazy Monkeys. They were great, they played popular songs of old and new. They sounded really well and got the audience into it. After 12AM, you have a DJ in the mix. He played some good mash ups. It ends at 2AM! For those under 21, this really gives you a great place to get the clubbing experience. They have an outside area, but ONLY for smoking, which is ashame because for those who don't smoke who want to get some fresh air and take some night time views of the bay, have to suffer inhaling the smoke. There are plenty of tables setup behind the dance floor. Food is also sold here. It's about average price for this type of venue. There is also a bar so you can order your alcoholic beverages. As of this year, purchasing drinks and food requires CASH ONLY. Maybe a big deal to others so plan ahead. In conclusion, I have to give this a perfect score. This is only one of it's kind event where those under 21 can enjoy a clubbing type of Halloween Party. i would definitely come back for next year.

The drinks are equally as good. Of course, the meal is made more enjoyable because of the excellent service. I highly recommend Lucuma! I've been here more than once with friends, and next time I'm bringing my family!

Features Pisco Quebranta- a single varietal brandy from the Ica Valley in Peru. Pre-dates the more well known Pisco Sour by centuries. Highly recommend. 2. Causa acevichada- imagine a yellowtail sushi roll and cover it in potato salad. Delicious, but strange- feels like a dish heavily inspired by the huge influx of Japanese immigrants to Peru in the early 1900s. Watch out- those pretty red peppers bite! 3. Pulpo al olivo- the delicate cream sauce, avocado and herbs were heavenly! 4. Ensalada César: good but pales in comparison to the other dishes- basic. 5. Tequeñitos: just ordered for the kiddo, ok but would not recommend. The neat part was the passionfruit sauce that came with. We used it on the next dish... 6. Empanadas: we ordered the sampler and I only tasted the mushroom which was delicious- but I probably wouldn't order again because I inly have so much room in my belly and I want to fill it with seafood! 7. Coliflor: the least impressive dish- I wouldn't recommend- just ok- needed more flavor. 8. Conchitas a la parmesana- echoes of oysters Rockefeller- fabulous- very rich and meaty- served on the half shell-4 to a plate. if I could do this meal over, I would skip the cauliflower, Cesar salad, and empanadas and order 2 more of these, another octopus and more Chirulín ! So good! Go early and street parking will he easy.

Staff are always cool, vibe is relaxed. Even the security guard at the door is a cool guy. The interior decor and lighting are gorgeous. Silent Sundays are pretty fun: they play an album from top to bottom, and everyone has to shut the hell up for the duration and can't order any shaken drinks. See? Music nerd heaven. I almost forgot to talk about the drinks: the menu is solid. Good cocktails, reasonable prices, well made.

We stumbled across this spot on Google and decided to give it a try. Luckily, our party of four was seated right away. The cocktail menu is on the smaller side, but between the four of us, we ended up trying a good portion of it. Honestly, every drink we ordered was really good, and there weren't any complaints from the group. I think we ordered Actual Proof, Sun Goddess, High Heel Sneaker, and Moonglow (mine). My cocktail was definitely my favorite because I love sweeter drinks where you can barely taste the alcohol, and it was exactly that. The rest of my friends' drinks leaned less sweet with a stronger alcohol presence. While I could appreciate the flavors of those cocktails, they just weren't my personal preference since I tend to like sweeter, fruitier drinks. I'd definitely come back. Very nice vibe and ambience. I'd probably order the same cocktail again since I enjoyed it, or try one of the other drinks I had my eye on. Between my friends and me, we managed to try almost everything that initially caught my interest, and overall it was a great experience.
