Cole G. was polite, dog-friendly, and always put bootie's on inside our home; but most importantly he was able to find and fix our issue in under an hour. Very impressed, with both responsiveness of company and technician's skills. This company was recommended by previous owners of our home, and I see no reason to not continue using their services. Extremely Disappointed -- Diagnosis Was Completely Wrong I had a very disappointing experience with Scottsdale Air Company. My AC unit had stopped functioning, so I called them to inspect and diagnose the problem. According to their technician's report, I was told that the system had a refrigerant leak in the coils, low refrigerant, and a bad compressor. I was also told that the capacitor was functioning properly. Based on that diagnosis, I was advised that repairing the system was not worthwhile because of its age, and I was quoted approximately $13,000 for a new AC unit, including what they described as a 25% contractor discount. I decided to get another opinion before spending $13,000. The second evaluation found that the compressor was functioning properly, the coils were not leaking, and the system did not need the extensive repairs described by Scottsdale Air. The actual problem was simply a failed capacitor, which cost approximately $15 to replace. After replacing the capacitor, the AC returned to normal operation and is functioning properly. This experience is extremely concerning. The difference between being told that I needed a $13,000 replacement because of a leaking coil, low refrigerant, and failed compressor--and discovering that the system only needed a $15 capacitor--is enormous. I cannot recommend Scottsdale Air Company based on this experience. Customers rely on HVAC professionals to provide accurate and honest diagnoses, especially when the recommended solution involves spending thousands of dollars. I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before accepting a major replacement recommendation from this company. read more

Showed up on time and the day our appointment was scheduled for unlike Parker and sons and Larson air conditioning who never showed up Did a thorough check of my furnace in the attic made sure no condensation leaks and air leaks at duct work. Cleaned the blower. Then checked my ac unit and cleaned it. Also checked out thermostat to make sure it was working correctly. Took pictures of everything for me to review. But these pieces of stuff made me rethink everything. My AC was broken. A simple part, a weak point in Trane systems died. This part for anyone off the street could be purchased for $110 or less, Who knows how cheap Scottsdale Air could get it. Also, this part takes about 15 minutes to install. Scottdale air cost $1235. That's, $4000 an hour for labor? Lawyers and doctors don't make that much. I asked for a breakdown of all the prices for the estimate. I had high hopes given all the greet reviews and my interaction with Justin while looking at what was needed. I short, I needed a new water softener and a hot water heater. Justin sent me over a quote later in the day and the price was much better than competitors. Ended up getting the work schuled about a week and half later. This is where is goes down hill and the reason for the one star review. The guys showed up on time and installed the water softener and hot water heater. They did not replace a water spigot that is in the utility room and was included in the quote. The second problem is that the quote noted an ION 12 water softener which was not what was installed. Ended up with a Ferguson which is a good brand so I let that one go however asked Jason to send me the information on it so I could register for the warranty. Although Justin said he would send it, I have yet to receive it. E I have left a half dozen messages for Justin to call me over the last 3 weeks so the water spigot and the discharge could be completed as agreed and again, included in the quote. Despite all the messages, I have not recevied a call back and the work that was quoted has not been completed. The receptionist did mention Justin was at an industry event when I left one of the messages but I am assuming those don't go on for several weeks. I suppose there is a chance the receptionist is not passing along my messages but I doubt that is the case. At this point I cant recommend Scottsdale Air since the job was not completed and they are not returning my calls. read more

Estimate was $1800 to replace filter drier on my A/C, I was.told the cost of repair was high because of the fact that the seal system had to be open. It will require 4 hours of labor to recover the refrigerant, replace the filter drier, evacuate using a vacuum pump and recharge the system to the correct factory charge using virgin refrigerant. Unfortunately when the job was performed the system was not evacuated nor was it recharged with new refrigerant which explains that it only took one hour and a half to do the repair. I have proposed to pay the estimate if that repair is corrected or I will have another contractor do it. read more

PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING MONTHLY MAINTENANCE. We were long-time customers of Scottsdale Air--years of loyalty and trust. Last year, we decided to sign up for their monthly maintenance service, thinking it would help prolong the life of our AC units and save us time to think about it. Unfortunately, that decision was detrimental to our system's health and finances. At the end of the year, they told us we needed two brand new units--a shocking $40,000 expense. Given the cost, we decided to get second and third opinions. That's when everything unraveled. Despite three service visits that year, the other companies found thick layers of dust in our attic that had clearly been accumulating for months--dust that was causing our AC to work 25% harder for every millimeter of dust. Why wasn't this cleaned during any of their visits? They did go up in the attic every time, it seems it was for nothing. Even more disturbing: The air filters that Scottsdale Air said had been "cleaning" hadn't been touched. They also charged a good amount of money to prevent rodent entry to both units--yet another company found an old BIG rat and even a large orange inside one of the units. Why didn't Scottsdale AC find this in their three visits? Scottsdale Air claimed our compressors were shot--yet two different experts ran diagnostics and confirmed they were working perfectly (once properly cleaned and maintained). We also had recurring error codes on our system, which now seem directly tied to the neglect we experienced. When we sent photographic proof of the dust and lack of maintenance, they only responded that they had "physically" been to our home three times and therefore would not offer a refund. They took absolutely ZERO accountability, offered no explanation, and not even a simple, "We're sorry." for the oversight, the poor service, or the inconvenience. Nothing. Bottom line: I feel completely taken advantage of. Their "maintenance" appears to be little more than a sales funnel for expensive replacements. Please be cautious before signing up for their monthly service--our experience has been costly, frustrating, and ultimately, avoidable. Find yourself a more honest company - this one proved in many ways to be very shady or, at the very least, incredibly incompetent. The great news is that we have found another very honest company and are saving (for now) $40K in replacements. Even better, our units are running better than ever without any errors. Learn from my very expensive lesson - find a more reputable and reliable company - save yourself tens of thousands of dollars. read more

We bought two top-of-the-line Lennox Air Conditioners from these folks a decade ago. The units work beautifully. In general, the service was competent. We even signed up for their annual membership program. But, over the past 3-4 years, we've grown increasingly dissatisfied with the costs (exorbitant and increasing), repeated disparities between quotes and billing, reluctance to refund the difference (as management is always in its "morning" or "afternoon" meeting), and even (recently) bait and switch. In fact, this morning, I went to cancel my annual membership, and was told I'd be giving up $860+ worth of credits that I'd built up. Really, I asked? I just spent over $1600 on a service/replacement; nobody informed me about the credit. You should be refunding me that. We can't, they said, because you're canceling. But, I said, you just told me that I had a credit. Yes, they said, you do. I will talk to management about it and we'll get back to you. They're in their (you guessed it) "morning meeting." The business practices here have become exceptionally unethical, with bait and switch. Hidden costs and outright dishonesty. (You have a credit or you don't. You receive the credit if you have it or the credit does not exist.) I would no longer recommend this firm. read more

The technician by the name of Patrick from North Carolina was super thorough, cleaning both units and troubleshooting both systems. The use of pictures helps to explain the status of each unit which I so appreciate. I maintain a tune up agreement each year so scheduling is never an issue. He also called me 30 minutes ahead which I love, giving me the heads up on arrival time. This company is a smooth operation. read more

The project started with Dave who has many years of experience and is a master technician coming to our home to analyze our needs. Our on-site install team members consisted of: Tyler, Eulogio, Laine and Eddy working on-site for two full days. The team members worked well together. All were dressed professionally, very courteous, and answered all my questions. The equipment we purchased was ready to go as planned. The job was completed timely. He wasn't able to repair the blower motor circuit board because the part needs to be ordered, but he answered all our questions and was very polite and helpful. We are very happy with Scottsdale Air. I had a service request completed and was told my blower motor and module needed to be replaced, with a repair quote of nearly $3,000. I was also advised to consider replacing the entire AC unit for around $15,000. This raised concerns, so I got a second opinion, turns out the same repair would cost only $1,200. While their membership program with biannual tune ups is appealing, this experience seriously calls their integrity into question. I strongly advise getting a second opinion before agreeing to any recommendations from this company. read more

I purchased two new AC units from Scottsdale Air back in Dec '20 (for my at-the-time eighteen-year-old house. My experience with the crews they sent out to do the installs was five-star. Then, just now, four one-half years later, one of the units stopped working. Scottsdale Air was at my house by 8:00 AM the next morning. (very fast response). The technician found that local desert-critters had chewed through some of the wiring inside the failed AC unit. In what seemed like no time at all, the tech had my unit back up and running. He also gave me an education on how to prevent/minimize the likelihood of a repeat occurrence. From my experience with several of their crews back in Dec '20, and my experience with yesterday's tech (Austin), I've always felt I've been treated like a valued customer.
