I have been a loyal Scotty Cameron user for 25 years and own a collection of over 30 of their putters. I recently sent a Dual Balance Notchback into the Custom Shop for a simple reshaft, new grip, and a stamp. The shop called me and refused to do the work, claiming the head had "aftermarket work" done to it. Here is the truth: No structural changes: The head has never been milled, welded, or altered by a third party. Basic user tweaks: The only "work" was done by me, consisting of removing the paintfill and swapping the removable head weights. Irrelevant excuse: None of my requested services had anything to do with refinishing the head itself. Even after explaining this clearly to the representative on the phone, they completely refused to help or escalate the issue. To turn away a lifelong brand advocate over user-swapped weights and clean metal is ridiculous. Scotty Cameron's Custom Shop used to be the gold standard. Now, they use lazy policy technicalities to avoid doing basic bench work. If you like to customize your own paint or weights, do not send your putter here, they will waste your time, your shipping money, and refuse to service it. read more

Work was originally good but paint on one of my weights came off and getting reworked was huge hassle. They wanted my whole putter to fix the paint on one of my easily removable weights. Start of the golf season and I didn't want to give up my putter for three weeks. Tyler the customer service rep was unprofessional and accusatory. What a bunch of jerks sent a 90s putter in to get reshafted and was told that the milling on the face was not from Scotty Cameron. Talked twice with this punk on the phone that just kept telling me that it was not a scotty milling !!!! Well how did it get on there I ordered this putter from my golf club direct from Titleist no one has ever had it but me. They state because it is (not there milling) the policy is not to do any work on it???? Not asking to reface or even restore it I just wanted a shaft so I could play with it. NO Nothing read more

"Extremely Disappointed - Not Worth the Time or Money" I am severely disappointed with the finished product. I sent my used Scotty Cameron Phantom putter for what I thought was a full restoration at $225.00. However, I learned after receiving it back, and after waiting 100 days, that the company will not recondition the head of my putter because it's aluminum. This was never communicated to me beforehand, and I feel misled by the entire process. The result looks poorly done, almost like it was handled by someone with very little experience, and certainly not like the high-quality restoration I expected. I don't even want the putter back anymore, as it looks worse than before. This experience has left me feeling like my time and money were wasted. Definitely not worth the cost or the wait. Overpriced and inaccurate representations of what they are able to do. "Hand milled" letters came crooked and uncentered. Custom colors were not close to what was shown on the website. All was intended to be "translucent green". Offered little sympathy other than a minor rebate to my total cost or to send back in and have 'some' of the items fixed.... but at least another month. No care about how they ruined my putter or willingness to listen. I expressed to the service team member as well, this is not what the brand should represent. But now when someone sees my putter, they will hear the story and see the true craftsmanship. Very disappointing. I believed sending directly to SC would be a more professional path than a 3rd party. I sent my putter in 2.5 months ago for just a new grip, I received call 2 weeks ago from them only to tell me they were out of grip that was available and purchased online. I was asked if I wanted to wait 3 weeks longer or substitute, I elected to substitute. The guy seemed totally lost and confused when discussing options. I finally said put any grip on and send back, luckily for me they had camouflage #sarcasm. They said it would be shipped out in a few more days which never happened, no communication or convenient way to track. This is not a premium brand or service for the price. read more

My initial review above was short and direct for a reason, I didn't want to waste one more minute of my time on these people than I had to. Full disclosure, John Pinney is the sole reason for the 1 star review. Let me "tell" you how much we care, but show you how we don't by drilling you with a laundry list of our overbearing and restrictive policies and why you have to wait so long for anything to be done. Here's a hint, when business grows and is demanding how about hiring more employees and increase production? They won't because then they can't control the demand and keep prices as high as they are for literally everything. Have to admit, brilliant marketing and Scotty drives a Lamborghini to prove it works. So here's what happened....The three different times I had to send my putters in I had problems all three times. And instead of hearing what can we do to help you, I had to listen to John ramble on and on about why it takes over 6 weeks to change out a putter grip, tell me about more policies, tell me how everyone is SO important and valued, and then gaslight me as if all that went wrong on their end was my problem. Seriously, why would I want to talk to him again after wasting countless phone calls only to get pompous attitude and gaslighted and get nowhere. It's a CUSTOM SHOP as long as you play by their rules and policies. Get ready for the elitist speech about "We have the right to refuse to work on any putter"...What..?? Are you kidding me..?? Again, so not worth the time or hassle to deal with this organization. And if you don't believe there are countless stories just like mine that don't get posted. Just ask anyone that's had to deal with the custom shop and they'll tell you it's a lot of smoke and mirrors much like the Wizard of Oz. I guess when you're that busy you can disregard your customer base without concern. It's the opposite ideals of what they were built on. There are plenty of other refinishers out there. This is really unfortunate. first off I was really excited to get my putter customized I currently have four different Scotty's (which I know is a small number compared to others that will read this). My putter arrived at Scotty Custom shop and they had to call me to confirm some detail. The people that I talked to were extremely rude, patronizing, and made it clear that they didn't care at all about my project. In the end I asked for them to return the putter and they could not wait to cancel the order and hang up on me. for the money I will not ever send a putter back to Scotty and I am honestly going to hit some Odessy putters. completely unacceptable when someone is paying more for customization then they paid on the original putter. read more

Having owned four Scotty Cameron Putters in the past I always wanted to send one in to get custom work done on one of them. I finally decided to have my Futura 5x dual balance sent in. I had cut it down to 33 inches over the years and it already had a matador grip on it. It is in pristine condition given its age. I was going to get a new grip, new headcover, new shaft band, some paint fill, a new alignment line on the top line and a new set of weights installed. I sent it into Scotty Cameron and they called me a week later and told that for them to do any work on it they would have to reshaft it back to its original length of 36 inches and put another dual balance grip on it. Basically they wont do cosmetic changes to my putter because the shaft had been cut down from the original length. On their form there is a specific section where they ask if you want work done on the shaft and I checked the box that said no. This makes absolutely no sense to me. You are a custom shop. I wasn't asking you to anything with the shaft. Not a single thing I wanted done had anything to do with the shaft. John P, who I spoke to on the phone tried to say that the grip I wanted wouldn't fit on the shaft having been cut down, which is a bold faced lie, because I simply asked for a replacement of the matador grip that I already have on the putter. So he then goes on to tell me that it wasn't Scotty Cameron's intention to have a dual balance putter cut down. To that I say, that's fine, I am not asking you to cut it down. Nor is it your right to tell me I can't. If you don't want to be a custom shop then don't be a custom shop, that's fine, but don't expect happy feedback if you call yourself a custom shop and decide you won't do custom work. What if I am short and a 36 inch putter doesn't fit me and you wont accommodate my height? Terrible terrible customer service. You can obviously see why the yelp reviews are dropping so rapidly. There was a time when I would happily endorse Scotty Cameron putters as being a class act. That time has unfortunately ended for me. read more

Not worth my time or money anymore. Worse as the years have went on. Mass produced, stock material. I have been a supporter of Scotty Cameron putters since the late 90's. I have sent 3 putters back to the "custom" shop, and the last 2 have been a complete disappointment! Paying top dollar for pieces of "custom" work and then having your stamp location requests denied both times is unacceptable. The stamps are extremely small, and having two stamps on the toe/face of the putter should be an option! Either increase the size of the stamp, or allow multiple stamps if there is reasonable room. Having a sales associate call me and say, "the option is unavailable so choose one or the other" is poor business. Completely ruins the entire concept of the custom shop. If the stamp location is approved and offered as an option, then allow two stamps there if it reasonably fits, especially if there are no other locations and it is at my request for my putter!!! "CUSTOM" For this most recent putter, I am essentially paying for a putter head to be painted black now that my stamps have been denied...kind of silly in my opinion. I could do that in my back yard with a can of spray paint....ruins the entire satisfaction of the "Custom Shop." No thanks. The putter before that, my single stamp request got denied, so I essentially paid for the putter to be painted platinum. I probably could have polished it with brasso and saved myself hundreds of dollars. Both occasions were similar requests that were paid for and completely in line with what the shop is already offering. They were very reasonable and simple requests as well. Really disappointing all around. It's a shame that Scotty Cameron company is willing to lose major promotors and longtime supporters due to a simple request for customization. read more

Not happy, I sent my Newport 2.5 in to be re-shafted and i was informed after they had received my putter that because i had buffed the bottom of my putter i would need to get a full restoration to complete the work I wanted. Apparently taking care of your clubs and buffing them is considered unauthorized altercations.......... I will not pay to have it restored so they are returning my putter and charging me to ship it back. This was not the Scotty Cameron experience i was expecting. read more

If you are a golf enthusiast, you MUST go here! The shop is awesome, the product selection is fantasic and the customer service is second to none. Frank, Joel and the rest of the guys treat you so well, are so knowledgable and do the best job in the industry. I'm really unsure how they could do any better? When I was there, I felt a little like I found a Golden Ticket and was in the Chocolate Factory of Golf. It might sound funny, but if you are a golfer and more importantly a "Golf Geek" that loves technology, you will love this little place in Encinitas. I might enjoy Space X and Tesla more, but not much. Not only do they do a complete anaylysis of you and your putter, but they are good players themselves and help you get into the best stance and setup for you to swing the putter natuarlly and make more putts. I was a Scotty Cameron fan before and now I'm not sure I'll ever pick up another putter. read more

I sent in a brand new phantom x 5.5 For customization and a matching head cover 2 1/2 weeks later I received the putter back when I open the box which was in pristine shape the putter head was wrapped in shipping paper But there was no visible Headcover included in the box I assumed it was wrapped in the paper so I unwrapped the putter only to discover there was no head cover which I paid for $81 I immediately called Scotty Cameron Custom and informed them of the situation the rep asked if I was certain it was no head cover and if the box was in decent shape I said the box was in pristine shape there was no head cover he said no problem I'll get with shipping on Monday as it was Friday and will get one out to you next week a week goes by now and nothing from Scotty Cameron so I called on Monday I was told this time by the agent that they checked with the shipping manager and she was certain she put it in the box so I asked another words I'm lying to get an additional Headcover? He said oh no I didn't mean I didn't mean that and I said well yeah you did and it's not the money it's the fact there's no Headcover so I purchased a second one for $81 and they are shipping it out unbelievably disappointed in this putter along with my other ones will go up for sale and I am done with SC. read more

Came in for a two hour fitting on Saturday. Couldn't figure out what they could possibly do for two hours to fit me for a putter. Besides video analysis of my putt swing from the front, sides and top, we talked about everything that goes into the putters. Spent the entire 2 hours. Joey was fantastic. It was like a zen meditation session. Besides getting a fantastic putter, I learned a lot about my putter swing and grip. I switched from a mallet to a blade, went from a 35 inch shaft to a 34 and went from a fatso grip to a mid-size. Fitting was definitely worth the time and cost. read more

I spent $300 and 4 weeks without my putter to have my putter restored. What I got back I could have gotten a 5 year old to do with a crayon for a dollar. Guy kept asking me questions so they can fix there website. Got so frustrated I cursed at the guy and hung up. Enjoy the $300 Scotty. UPDATE ON RESTORATION Custom Shop did a magnificent job restoring my putter. They removed all the dings and scratches. Repainted all the letters, symbols, lines. Replaced my custom 30 gram weights with brand new ones, new shaft, new shaft label, new grip(even though I removed it for a Super Stroke Flatso 3.0), milled the face so it has brand new deep grooves again. Looks like a brand new custom putter. Thank you Custom Shop! You guys are the best! read more

Designed my Golo 6 online and sent it in to be refinished. Spent $400+, but didn't mind because its the putter I've used for years and one of the supposed benefits of buying a Scotty is that you can send them in and get them fixed up as they wear - I had every intention of using this putter forever. I removed the shaft before shipping (as they recommend on their website) and shipped it to them for $25. A week later they call me to tell me my putter is not in good enough shape to be refinished and that they would send it back. This is highly irritating because my putter has a few blemishes, but you would think the point of having it "refinished" would be to get rid of those. There are no chips or any real damage, just marks from being in the bag...but I suppose if they can't do it they can't do it. I asked if they could at least put a stock shaft in it and they said that all they can do is send me the head back....so now that I've torn my putter apart, paid to have it shipped, and lent them $400 for a few weeks I now am in worse shape than I was to begin with. I am pretty embarassed that I toted Scotty Camerons as the best putters available for so long, but not as embarassed as they should be for not being able to replace their own stock shafts. In one day I flipped from Scotty Cameron being my "putter for life" to "I'll never own another one". ---Update-- Called back and spoke with AJ. He determined that I could get everything except the refinishing done. The price tag rang up at almost $350 without the refinishing, which seems very steep to me so I declined, but I give him a lot of credit for putting in the legwork to call the technician and at least find out what my options were. Called in to their shop for a restoration on a Bullseye SC with a Disney stamp on it that I had purchased from an estate sale company. They informed me they could not do the restoration on a brass putter and also informed me they had never seen a bullseye of this sort. I'll bet if they dig a little more they will find something about it. But all is fair. Great experience communicating with them. I currently have 3 putters including that particular Bullseye that I want restoration done on. Money is not a big deal to have them done, I would just like that Bullseye to be the main focus. Maybe they can think about it and really make an exception? How does the old saying go? Money talks? Hopefully my money talks to Mr Cameron for 4 restorations at the same time? read more
