But they suggested getting a used replacement which was newer than 25 years old and better technology! One of the staff helped find one that was closest to my old club, Taylor Made 54 degree. Cost only $50 which was much cheaper than a reshaft. They even offered to take it back if I didn't like it. Loved the new club and worked great but is now my 90 yard club...old age you know. read more

I stopped by to hit a few putts with my 17-month-old son, who was having the time of his life "practicing" alongside me. Was looking to actually buy a new driver. Apparently Aaron thought my toddler was one swing away from destroying the Crown Jewels of golf because he rushed over to tell me he couldn't use one of the putters since it was a "$300 putter." I told him, "No problem," but also said if my 17-month-old somehow managed to break it, I'd gladly pay for it. And honestly, if a $300 putter can't survive a toddler gently tapping a golf ball, it might not be the premium product it's advertised to be. Instead of leaving it there, Aaron spent the next several minutes pacing back and forth and staring me down like we were about to settle this on the 10th tee. It was one of the most bizarre customer interactions I've had. I asked to speak with the manager, Kevin Collinwood, hoping he'd simply acknowledge the situation. Instead, before even hearing the whole story or witnessing anything that happened, he immediately said he had to defend his employee. His voice was literally shaking through the conversation, and it felt like he had already made up his mind. When I asked for the corporate phone number, suddenly the apologies started. Unfortunately, that should have been the first response, not the last. I wasn't looking for anyone to get fired. A simple, "I'm sorry about your experience, I'll talk to my employee," would have resolved everything in about 30 seconds. Instead, what should have been a fun afternoon of golf with my son turned into the weirdest standoff I've ever had over a putter. Hopefully they treat the next family that walks in with a little more common sense and a little less "Secret Service protecting the $300 putter." read more

I went in looking for new grips for my golf clubs. As I was looking at the dozens of options they have, there was an employee working so I asked him for a specific brand. He said dryly that it's been 2 years since they had them. So I had to ask if there were any similar and he flatly said Super Sport bought them so they would be the closest. End of conversation. A good salesman would have asked me what exactly I was looking for since there are so many types, sizes and styles of grips out there. I felt ignored since after I asked the second question he went into the back room. The store was not even busy as there were more employees than customers, and as I was walking out past the counter empty handed, no one even asked me if I found what I was looking for or if they, at the counter, could help me with anything. This store is amazing from the moment you walk in. They greet you with a smile and a warm welcome, but above all, the team that Aaron and Marcus form is the best of the best. I come to this store many times even though it's located near my house in Chula Vista. Aaron and Marcus simply provide excellent customer service. Even if you just go in with a question, they make you feel like family, and above all, they make you feel like your question or concern is very important so you can fully enjoy playing golf. I highly recommend this store, and above all, ask for them. The entire crew is impressively attentive and helpful, but Aaron and Marcus are always there to help you and give you the very best. I know very little about golf or golf equipment and was daunted trying to help my son (who is now golf obsessed) find a driver. He is a junior golfer and was told by others when playing on courses that he has outgrown his (used) junior driver. We went into golf mart to try several drivers and Aaron was absolutely amazing. He watched my son's swing on the sim, looked at some metrics, and helped identify the driver and shaft that would grow with my son. He was also so encouraging; my son walked out beyond thrilled with his driver and pumped about getting to the range (after the grip dries, of course). I echo all the other praise here about the store's service, expertise, and really fair (better than fair) pricing. I'm sure my son will need equipment as he outgrows his other clubs and we'll return here for it all. read more

I upgraded my older TaylorMade M2 irons to the newer Titleist t350 irons and I love them and the help I got from the staff was incredible. I tried out many different brands and their 90-day return policy really helps. If you need to do a return and they're fine with it, which is great. I have to say the manager is Kevin and Scott are great guys. Really easy going and the staff including a shout out. I'm going to give to Gary who gave me a tip in the bay. I think I've been looking for for 30 years really helped me. So I'm giving a five-star review for the service and for the selection and for the customer service. Return visit looking for a 5wood to fill a yardage gap in my bag and Aaron brought all the options out and multiple shafts in effort to build the perfect club for my needs. Best selection, best service and best overall retail experience I've ever had. I walked in at 6:50 knowing it was 10 minutes before they closed, but Tim (club fitting specialist) and Trey (assistant manager) never mentioned it. I came in to buy a specific set of irons and left 30 minutes later with an entire new set of clubs (including a great bag, a driver, 3 wood, hybrid, putter, balls, and a bunch of cool accessories. This is easily the greatest golf store I've ever been to. Every member of the staff is super knowledgeable and helpful. Specifically, they take away headaches. I cracked the face of my brand new Stealth 2 and brought it in 15 mins before close. Jake S. and John L. took care of me, swapped the head out, and handled the replacement directly with Taylormade. I was in and out in 5 minutes. These two saved my golf trip this upcoming weekend. Jake S. is also a great club fitter. He got me in the right shaft on the driver and knew exactly what I needed. Everyone, their, brother, and their sister are getting into golf these days due to the fact that it's one of the few sports that you can safely social distance while playing. Before meeting up with some friends for a round, I noticed a huge rip in the old bag I'd been using. Enter Golf Mart and they had a massive selection full of all shapes, sizes and prices. As always, the customer service was great and the guy helping me here found just the sweet spot I wanted to be at in terms of price and performance. On my way out I also picked up a used wedge for my bag which actually helped me sink a pretty sweet shot out of the sand during our round. I've always been pleased when I've shopped at Golf Marts and this location sure did their part in terms of safely operating when I was there. Encinitas Golf Mart staff are always Friendly, helpful and Golf knowledgeable especially Gary! Numerous times I will go into the store with questions to my golf game and Gary offers several solutions to my game. In addition, last week I took my Callaway irons in to be regripped and an accident occurred with my eight iron. The next day when I returned to pick them up Steve Massa (store manager) informed me what had happened and had the solution. He contacted Callaway golf and asked them to replace my irons!!! My husband purchased a set of used irons. for a very good deal. Then at home, he realized that the clubs were too short for his height and reached out to the store right away. Ryan answered our call and was very understanding. The manager Jacob took care of the issue right away. My husband ended up purchasing a different used set which was in great condition. We've been shopping at the Golf Mart located in Mission Valley for many years before this but I must say that the folks at Encinitas are much more professional and helpful.
