I've been using Scotty's for a few years now. Every person I've dealt with provided superior customer service, but I deal with Nick most often. He needs a halo above his head and a big fat raise. That man shows real empathy. The first time I called Scotty's I remember crying on the phone. Nick was patient and calming. He explained everything and answered all my questions. My car was fixed and every repair they did worked and never gave me trouble afterwards. That was 3 or 4 years ago. My car is old and has many miles on it so I decided to trade it in for a new one. Of course the thermostat decided to stick. Nick squeezed me in for that repair super quickly so I could do the trade-in. I also use Scotty's for my company's fleet vehicle repairs. I have a 2007 Jeep Liberty & I love her. Yes, I am one of THOSE. She is 15 years old, bought used to teplace one that an idiot made a uturn into and totaled. Broke my heart til we found this baby. She kept killing brand new batteries, which AAA kept replacing every 5 days. The alternator was 14 mos old and all the lights were off. Took the girl into Scottys and these guys ARE THE PROs. Less than two hours later, they found the culprit. Some bozo aftermarket installed an alarm system, kept the remote & didn't tell anyone about it. It was shorting out the system. Bummer dudes. The shop was recommended to me. I had no expectations other than it was another mechanic. I was soooooo wrong! Scottys is a very professional and honorable facility with extremely good staff. I fell into the snooty thought that nobody but the dealer could service my car like the dealer could! As an owner of a Range Rover and a lifelong fan of Neillo, I am overwhelmed to share my extreme pleasure with the work integrity of the Scottys staff. I have attempted to schedule a simple oil change and to check out a service light with the dealer. I have called and left numerous messages - none of which have been returned by the Neillo staff! On the contrary, I called at 4:00 on Wednesday night and was told "we'd be happy if you brought in the Rover tomorrow morning." I arrived about 10:00 and told them of my concerns and desires. Not only did they complete servicing the Rover by 3:00 the same day, they cleared the errors that were appearing and charged an extremely fair price, perhaps not enough. Regardless, my vehicle was serviced immediately, the team was professional and clean, there was no games or gouging happening. I cannot recommend enough the value provided for the service performed. It's too bad more Range Rover customers don't look past the dealer for a quality mechanic. Because they can be found and I attest that I will be a customer of Scotty's for years to come! So I recommended my Father-in-Law to take his Lexus in after the dealer wanted $5,000 to replace his bent gas tank. Scotty found only the tank's guard was bent. Simply removed it and hammered it back straight & reinstalled it. Then sent him on his way. 20 minutes. No charge. Yup, he's still got it. read more

So I took my Lexus GS 350 to the Dealer last week for a oil change and detail. They did great as usual but told me my rear brakes were done at 2 mm and I had a frozen caliper $1190... I love their service but not shop rates so I declined. I scheduled and dropped it off at Scotty's Auto in OV this morning for rear brakes as they have always treated me right. Got a call later saying my caliper is frozen but they are soaking in oil trying to free it. Said prob not going to work and total might be $590 (just half of Dealer). I said okay if needed as I need brakes. (Figured it was a done deal since I approved) Got a call from John an hour later, said he had bad news as they WONT be selling me new calipers today as they got it freed. Total $270 vs $1190! I went to the shop on Illinois Avenue to get a Smog Certification for one of our company vehicles. I haven't written many reviews, but John and Daniel provided such a great experience I had to share. I want to start off by saying that this is the first auto shop I've ever been to that had a clean and comfortable lobby area! They provide a really nice waiting environment and finish up their work fast! Even though their shop was pretty busy, they both provided excellent customer service and were genuinely nice people! I got a quote for oil pan work on my 2006 Mercury Montego a week ago. First of all, they were able to do the work with the threads in the drain plug so my bill was less than the original quote. Daniel on the front desk explained everything to me on what was done and in a way I could understand him. Long overdue review but I've been meaning to give Scotty's my 5 stars forever now. Had to drop by here suddenly when the metal plate on the bottom of my car detached on one side and was dragging. Searched for the nearest auto shopped and found this place. They quickly took me in, as soon as they opened, fixed the plate in a matter of 10-15 minutes and sent me off. I happened to forget my wallet at the time (hot mess morning) and owner told me to not worry about and just drive safely. Kindest people!! This place is a scam, I chose this business through yelp. My vehicle check engine light alerted me and I took my vehicle to Scottys Automotive for an engine analysis ($120.00). I was initially informed that a air oxygen valve needed replacement and a total of $420.00 that I agreed too. I was later contacted and advised that my radiator had a leak, which had nothing to do with my check engine light. Suspicious as I was, the business owner said to me that he would investigate the matter and would get back to me. To date, no one has contacted about my suspicious radiator leak. I was told that my radiator replacement would cost me $410.00 that never was the complaint. It's hard too find an honest mechanic shop, I warn everyone, don't go there!! read more

I always was treated kindly and given good service with reasonable prices. They were my go-to. I recently had a car problem in Los Angeles and took it to my local dealership. I was quoted an insanely high price for parts and service (higher than most already-inflated dealer prices). I didn't know what to expect so I called Scotty's for a second opinion. As good as it gets it right!! I was referred to Scotty's by a native of Orangevale, CA whose dad was a mechanic and who had been coming here for years. As my Dad was a mechanic as well, I am not totally illiterate when it comes to cars. Have found Scotty's good for all types of automotive issues and reliable diagnosis as to problem. They also do smog certififcation and I feel more comforatable taking my car to the mechanic who takes care of the car for the smog certification. Took my truck into have the power steering pump replaced, not only do these guys use the most expensive parts they can find but after getting home I had to refill and reburp the pump being as someone had set the cap in place without actually securing it. For the better part if $600 I'd expect better service, especially considering they like everyone else is slow right now. read more

Here's the deal. My husband has a 2012 Honda Fit which he took in to Roseville Honda because he gets free oil changes (sort of - we paid for the extended warranty which included several oil changes). They told him he needed a $400 brake job. He told them he wanted to go someplace else so he had to sign something to the effect that he knew his brakes were bad. He took the car to Scotty's and a few hours later they called and said not only did we not need brakes but the back brakes were at least 40% good and the front brakes were 80-90% good and that we had at least another 10-15,000 miles to go before needing brakes.
