An absolute nightmare. Do. Not. Hire. This. Company. Anything that can go wrong probably will. Deceitful and disrespectful with no regard for your time. My boyfriend moved from SF to Seattle, and found this company potentially under a different name (the contract says Yelp Moving & Storage and it may also be under Simply Moving, there's quite a few links on Ripoff Report - see links below). During our pick up, they increased the quote on the spot by $600 because it was "more than estimated" despite the fact that it indeed matched the quote. We were desperate and they were already in our home, so we reluctantly obliged. Already a red flag. The delivery window was incredibly vague, and it took them an entire month to inform us they were transporting our belongings. There was no communication whatsoever and no set timeframe. My boyfriend had to reach out numerous times just to get a pulse check on our delivery. After an entire month, my boyfriend was contacted by the driver who committed to a 2PM delivery on a Monday. Well, they arrived three hours late, well after 5PM, and my boyfriend essentially missed work a huge chunk of work for no reason at all. Red flag #2. It gets worse. They then demanded the total in cash even though it was never communicated (nor is it in the contract). The driver then threatened my boyfriend saying it would be an additional $500 fee to pay with card. My boyfriend requested he call his boss, Carlos, and read the contract out loud, which states "card accepted." They argued back and forth until Carlos unwillingly gave in. They then tried to run his card, which was apparently one digit off, and couldn't get a hold of the main office because *SURPRISE* it was closed because *they* arrived late. Due to the fact that they were unable / unwilling to take his card, they ended up threatening us with a fee of $500 to re-deliver and left with our things. My boyfriend contacted Tom via email who replied next day (because again, SURPRISE, no one was answering our calls) stating that it was a "slap in the face [for you] to be calling every day about delivery and when we show up you aren't ready" (see screenshot of email). Are you kidding me? First of all, it's YOUR fault for 1) refusing to take card even though the contract says card accepted and 2) arriving late so we're unable to reach you and 3) being vague about the delivery timeframe. Tom then ever-so-pleasantly tells us that he was finally able to charge the card, and charged it with the $500 fee for the inconvenience and to anticipate our belongings arriving Friday. Well, surprise to absolutely no one, the driver calls on Thursday instead, and tells my boyfriend he is delivering the items in two hours. TWO HOURS! My boyfriend then had to rush home from his work to accommodate THEIR schedule. If you're moving and seeking movers, please, please, please- I urge you to find a reputable company. If I could give them anything lower than one star I would. !!DO NOT HIRE THIS DECEITFUL COMPANY!! They started off with a very reasonable quote of $2,400 and then less than one week prior to my move they raised the quote by $800 and threatened to cancel the move. Upon pick up they waited until all of my belongings were loaded to ONCE AGAIN raise the quote by more than $500. All of these charges for packing materials was never brought up until after they did it. Originally I was assured a delivery window of only two to three weeks, but unsurprisingly that changed and it took them close to six weeks. Once they had my stuff and my money Tom my sales rep stopped taking my phone calls about when will my belongings be moved. If he answered the phone or replied to a message he'd push me off to another department that wouldn't answer their phone. At one point I even asked to speak to Tom Jordan's boss, and he started off saying that there's nothing he will do and will only say what he's saying. Then he just outright wouldn't give his contact information. Through this whole processes Tom only called me once, because the deposit check I wrote on pick-up went missing and he at first insinuated that I didn't pay after the check had already been deposited. This is when our sales rep Tom began getting very rude. The check was eventually found and credited, but I never received an apology after this. Upon delivery they once again tried to demand $300 in cash to unload my belongings on top of all the other charges. I warned them that a semi would not fit on my street several times in the days leading to the delivery, but they ignored me. The delivery man tried to THREATEN how much more money it would cost if I didn't pay him then and there. We ended up writing a check for the amount. With such a bad experience up to that point why wouldn't my belongings also be in poor shape? Several of our boxes came wet, others came collapsed, and a few pieces of furniture broken. They even dropped a large piece damaging my tile in our new house. Working with this dishonest company and the deceitful Tom Jordan resulted in a gross amount of stress. This company employs non-truthful sales tactics, and can't even take a contract that they produced seriously. I would like to see some form of refund for the amount of money they milked using exploitative sales methods to make a few extra dollars. They are only there to collect your money and have no pride or regard for their clients. I encourage everyone who made the same mistake of employing this company and to file against them with the BBB. They need to shape up how they treat their customers and be honest and transparent. Not setting up quotes and contracts to trap people into separating with their money. All said and done this company cost the same as Allied or Nationwide. Not worth the money or headache What I didn't like: -Actual cost ended up being twice what they quoted us and they didn't tell us until after they packed up all our stuff. -They chewed us out for posting a 1 star review -Our stuff took a long time to arrive -Took the 1 star review down and a few hours later got the call that our stuff would be arriving the next day -Worst packing job ever -So much stuff damaged. DO NOT USE SCOUT MOVING!!!! No stars if I could. GREAT upfront service followed by an abrupt and significant decline in the quantity AND quality of service. I didn't know where I was moving when I had them pick up and store my things for a month. By the time it came for my things to be delivered they were all of the sudden in "busy season" and damn near impossible to get in touch with. I tried calling at least 10 times and left multiple messages - they finally called me back and we got disconnected 3 separate times. I gave up. The woman said they used the Internet for their phone service and that their "system" had gone down. Finally got the address to them and they said they would call and give 24 hrs notice before making delivery, no other information was available. 1 week goes by...nothing, another week goes by...NOTHING so I call and the guy apologizes and tells me he doesn't know why someone didn't call me but that they were trying to load my small load onto a smaller truck. ....3 WEEKS AFTER I GAVE THEM MY ADDRESS and I get the phone call. He can be there after 5 next day but there will be an added charge... Which by the way was only 1 of 6 added charges they claimed I would need to pay....READ YOUR CONTRACT...they have a ton of additional charges they do not inform you of these upfront. CONSUMER BEWARE these people are out to take your money and they DO NOT deliver an acceptable service. Having moved around a lot having been in the Navy, I've used a number of moving companies in the past, these guys facilitated my move near flawlessly. I did have one issue of a piece of furniture being scratched, but the insurance paid for the damage. One thing to note is to be very thorough in both inventorying and inspecting your stuff before and after it's delivered, Some other companies are so eager to get your stuff on and off the truck, they make you feel rushed, Scout wasn't like that, they let me go through everything until i was satisfied. I was surprised to see other reviewers have had trouble contacting someone at Scout, I had no problems and my experience was professional and courteous. I will start by saying that Scout did lose a couple boxes in my move from Portland to Chicago. However, their relocation coordinator, Denton, really advocated for me. When their insurance didn't provide enough of a compensation for my items, Scout offered to compensate me directly. Not dollar for dollar, of course, but they were a fairer offer than the insurance. Denton especially should get a gold star. When faced with an upset customer, he was kind, patient, and explained what he could do, and kept up an honest dialogue every step of the way. I did not have any broken or damaged items. I had a lot of art, and the movers who arrived, Tyler, and his crew even helped me make sure some of my art that wasn't wrapped well enough, got wrapped for maximum safety. Hidden costs, broken furniture. This company used to have good reviews back when I hired them. I don't know why. They waited until they had all my things on a truck, then hit me with several unnecessary hidden charges, almost doubling the quoted charge. When my things were finally unloaded (two days late which isn't horrible in the world of movers I suppose) EVERY SINGLE PIECE of furniture I own was damaged. This is not IKEA furniture. There are deep scratches & holes in my wood cabinets, broken doors & handles on both my dressers, a wood side table broken in half, bar stools with the legs completely bent. The team that unloaded said that nothing was wrapped & should have been. The only things wrapped properly were my framed artwork, mirrors & TV - thanks for small favors. I have a friend who used Scout at the same time I did and when I asked how it went, he just shook his head & said, "I don't want to talk about it." This is not the company to use. I am moving cross country and spent a lot of time reaching out to as many movers as I could. When I got Tom's quote from Scout, I politely responded by saying his quote was much higher than other fairly reputable movers (Allied/North American/Mayflower/2Guys and a Truck, etc.) but that when cost wasn't my biggest issue I'd reach out to him. He responded with something I'll let you be the judge of: "Wow that's shocking that our price is higher than others because I didn't even charge for fuel or origin/destination fees which took about $660 off but I understand you are a limited budget so all I can say if your'e looking for the cheapest price be prepared for a mover that shows up in a truck that is barely running and a crew that hopefully has at least one guy that speaks English because you know what they say, you get what you pay for but best of luck." Do not use this moving service, and if you're in the Vegas area Moving Pros US. MPUS uses these thieves to move customers from Seattle to Vegas. I was quoted a job price of $1500 to move. All I had was 7 boxes, king bed and frame, couch, a motorcycle, and 2 tool bags and miscellaneous items. After loading the bike onto the truck myself ( they couldn't figure out how to fit it on the lift gate. ) It was wrapped with 2 blankets and some cardboard it took 5 minutes. And they refused a stand for the bike that would have made it completely stable opting to lean it up against my mattress, telling me they would have to charge me extra because it took up more room. Huh??Mind you this is an expensive custom cruiser, their " foreman " comes up after loading and proceeds to tell me it would be an additional $900 + dollars for the extra packing material, labor, and special care for the motorcycle. Remember I asked twice if the price quoted included everything. Bait and switch much?? Insult to injury these crooks delivered my belongings 2 weeks later (I was told 3 to 5 days) every box was damaged and NO MOTORCYCLE! After several frantic phone calls my bike was located in Portland " in perfect condition " but as of this writing NO ONE can tell me when it will get to me in Vegas! These people don't give a rat's ass about their clients once the money is paid. I'm considering a class action lawsuit against both parties. Anyone with a similar nightmare story? Okay - Update and an upgrade to 3 Stars. After several phone calls and finally posting some bad reviews I was called by Tim the Operations Manager. Yes he was cordial and acted like a businessman. I would say that he represented the Owner & Business very professionally. After our discussion he sent us a check for $600 of the shuttle service charge, which we are very happy to agree with is fair. So we have changed our rating from a one star to a three star. Again like I told Tim, the service up to that shuttle issue below was good and when Tim took the extra time and effort to talk with us he understood the issue and our position. Did he have to refund any money... No. The fact that he did so, to correct what we believe was a mistake on their part was a good thing. Would we use them again.... a definite Maybe. Although I know one thing to look out for if/when we move again. The move went fairly well Although the disappointment is setting in more and more every day. They lost some of our boxes. The biggest issue is the driver called and said they couldn't get a 53' truck in our new property and they would have to do the "shuttle" thing and that was of course $850.00 extra. What could we do ? We wanted our stuff... so we paid. They put the stuff in a smaller truck and brought it in. (Is this when the boxes went missing?) In any case... since we've been here, I've seen ATLAS, UNITED, BUDD and other carriers with 53' trailers and large sleeper cabs pull right in. WTH?? Better drivers? Or maybe the $850 goes right into the delivery team's pocket? And now that I'm asking them questions SCOUT MOVING aka CASCADE Relocation is giving us the run around ... STAY AWAY from this moving company!! This is probably the worst moving experience I have ever had. I was moving from SF to Seattle with minimum stuff. First the movers were late at SF, but they were cordial and nice. Everything moved smoothly. However, the hidden charges they have are ridiculous. Elevator fee, long carry, big truck to small ones. Everything comes to them so natural. The funny thing is they list all that in the contract. STAY AWAY with this company!!! Because there is no way you can get away with no surcharges after you sign your contract. It will be added by the movers. I am guessing the movers will get extra money if they can add surcharges to customers. In the end, with a lot of drama with surcharges, delays, they finally came. The mover at Seattle is probably the worst of the whole move. My few items came, but they broke my bed. It was under minimum insurance, which means minimum reimbursement. The coordinator had nothing to say but giving me a claim form. The mover refuse to help me to throw the broken bed to the recycling bin downstairs of my apartment. Even though he did throw them away in the end, but the interaction I had with him was not pleasant. They have very bad communication among movers, relocation coordinator. The movers always want to add more money to your move. They care very little about your items. It is very obvious that my boxes were crushed during the move. The only good thing is that those boxes only had clothes in it. Anyways, I really dislike the whole experience and want to make sure everyone stays away from them. The take-home message is: too many surcharges, movers with an attitude, unprofessional packing of furniture causing damage along the move. Horrible moving company. You tell them you want delivery on a certain date and they tell you nothing about needing a delivery window of about 3 weeks. You tell them that you want it delivered on X date and you won't get it by then. They have no coordination between storage and moving. Horrible company DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!! Assuming you are looking to have something delivered in a timely manner. Update: Once they heard about my frustration they did their best to get my stuff to me as soon as possible. I just wish they would have told you that you needed a three-week window when you originally scheduled your appointment. I went to a website to look for a mover for my move to Portland OR from San Francisco. I talked to 4 different services and had prices from crazy high to ridiculously low ($899-$3600 WOW!). I have never used an actual moving company to move before so I really didn't know what to expect. After talking to all the salesmen I settled on Scout really based on their salespersons general knowledge and willingness to go into detail about how it all worked rather than try to sell me something. I didn't have a lot to move but it was certainly more than I could handle on my own. Leading up to moving day Brian was really helpful answering all my packing questions and even pointing me to some helpful resources to get the right packing materials. I had a family emergency about a week before the pick up and I called to reschedule, and expected some kind of friction but they made the change and assured me it was all still on track (HUGE RELIEF). Move day came and went off without a hitch. Traffic was horrible on the day of but the driver called me to say that they would be 20 minutes late, which in San. Fran. is just the norm so hey, what are you going to do? When the movers got there they just jumped right in. The guys worked hard from start to finish wrapping all my tables and sofas up, which I actually didn't know they did, but totally awesome! The pick up took about 2 hours and I jumped in my car and drove to Portland to find a new apartment. When I found my new place I emailed in to update the delivery information and they said they would get me into the delivery rotation. The delivery from California arrived a few days later and the movers brought it all in and even put my bed back together. I did have 1 wine glass that broke but other than that everything was just as I had packed it and I'm totally pumped to be all moved in. read more

Our stuff sat at their storage facility for 3 months till we bought our house in South Dakota. We didn't think that was a big deal. When our stuff arrived, my two guitars (that were accounted for on the log sheet) were gone. 3 missing boxes of kids toys, my wife's jackets, and other random items. I then found that there were boxes that were opened and then re-taped shut, in which my watch collection was stolen, my hunting knives, and my two pairs of Air Jordan shoes. My power tool bag was gone. And that is on top of the broken items that we found after we started opening boxes. We have moved 13 times in 11 years, and have NEVER had this happen! And when we filed the claim to have our stuff replaced, the claim company gave us a whopping $72 for EVERYTHING that I just listed. Several thousand dollars worth of stuff and we get back $72 because they replace your stuff by approximate weight of what was missing and because the stuff that was missing were in boxes that we had already packed. Absolutely disgusted by this moving company. If you are looking for a moving company, do NOT hire Scout Moving Company. I've moved three times in the past three years and this was by far the worst moving experience. Not only are they rude, they show up late, do not provide any detail on your items, and charge you hundreds of dollars over the quoted price. On the date of pickup, they were over 4 hours late arriving when they said they would arrive (they stated they would arrive "No later than 2pm" yet they showed up around 6:30pm). After showing up late, they loaded my things, throwing them into the truck, and then charged me hundreds of dollars more than what I was quoted. When I arrived to my destination, I updated them that I was ready for delivery. I was told by their customer service department representative, Amanda, that my items were in route for over 3 weeks. Finally when I got ahold of someone else in customer service, they told me my items were not even loaded at the warehouse yet. Four weeks later and my items are still not here. Tom Jordan who I believe is their sales rep, called today asking for my debit card number. I find it very strange that they cannot give me any information but when they need my credit card information they finally answer their phones. When they picked up my items, they charged me over $300 more than what I was quoted and now Tom called to tell me that I owe $400 more than what I was quoted to deliver my items....that's over $700 for what my original quote was. If you want rude employees, horrible customer service, late arrivals/deliveries, and having to overpay for what you were quoted, then hire this company...otherwise steer clear!! I have to echo all the recent reviews - do NOT use this company. What started as a really pleasant experience devolved into one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. In the beginning, I found it very easy to get the move set-up and the price was right. (Although, it should be noted the price I was quoted ended up increasing by nearly $700!) The mover that coordinated my move-out was fantastic - professional, nice, and on time. My boyfriend and I were optimistic about what this meant for the remainder of our move and some friends present during the move out expressed being impressed by them. Then it all went bad - Scout gave a 3-week window in which my belongings would be delivered, which ended on 7/26. They let me know the driver would call 24 hours in advance to schedule an exact time and that I HAD to be available. On 7/25 I still hadn't heard from the driver, so I called Scout - oops, no one had bothered to let me know that my stuff hadn't even been loaded onto a truck and was still in storage. They gave me a new week long window (8/10-8/14), which meant more time that I had to leave my schedule flexible for them. On 8/13, with no word from the driver, I called Scout again - first, I couldn't get through (because the relocation phone line is always "broken") and then when I finally spoke to someone they made up some excuse about dispatch not telling them my stuff was going to be arriving well past the window I'd been given. They then gave me the window of 8/15-8/17. On 8/16 I finally received a call from the driver and we scheduled an arrival time on 8/17. Then, on 8/17 he called me saying he had a flat tire and we rescheduled to early morning on 8/18. Later in the evening on 8/17 I receive a text that the driver is 30 minutes away - what?! I rush around to get home and surprise surprise, he doesn't arrive for over an hour. When he gets there he (shockingly) can't pull the truck close to my front door and says that I'll have to pay all this additional money for either a "long haul" or a shuttle. (Has anyone had Scout not charge them for one of these two things?) When I asked him to show me how he got the long haul charge, I noted that he had rounded up by almost $30! At this point we told them to just unload my belongings onto the sidewalk and we'd walk them to my house - I was not giving Scout any more of my money. Multiple boxes were smashed, fragile boxes were stacked upside down under boxes of books, a bookshelf was broken, and many pieces of furniture were scratched. I've moved myself across the country twice, using Door-to-Door Moving, and both times broken no more than a coffee cup and a snow globe. The issue was NOT my packing skills. When I emailed Scout (because again, the phone never works) to express my upset at how this process has gone and frustration at their compensation for my items arriving so late (over 3 weeks after the end of the window they had given me, more than 1 month after I arrived), I got an email response that was basically "sorry for your experience". I would give Scout moving negative stars if I could. This company are crooks and should not be allowed to be in business. Scout moving was one of the companies that called me after I put out an internet search for quotes on moving items from Washington to California. I got about 5 quotes and Scout quoted me the lowest. The quote they gave me at the beginning of June was not based on any list of items and I did tell the representative on the phone the size and fullness of my storage unit. He gave me a quote of 1190$. Based on that quote I gave them a deposit and a verbal agreement to hire them to move my belongings. I then received an email from this representative (Nathaniel Masters), in an office in Oregon, that was for 1200$, because some promotion was over or some reason that didn't make sense. Still the 1200 seemed okay to me. Two days before my move I gave an approximate list of items to a different representative in their Kent office. She said it would probably be within the quoted amount. The day of the move the movers show up and immediately tell me I have way more stuff then they expected and start pulling out a tape measure and telling me that based on the size of my storage unit (the dimensions had been given to Nathaniel on my first phone call with him) the price for the move was now going to be 2600$. I didn't know what to do, I was shocked. The movers were incredibly rude and basically acted like they knew something was shady. I called a "manager" to discuss my concerns and he wasn't helpful at all and every interaction with the company after this was frustrating. I had them move my things, because I felt there was no other option. I was flying back home from Seattle the next day and would not have time to find another mover or move the items myself. Scout kept telling me that the $1200 quote was based on my list of items, but I got the quote around the 3rd of June and gave them my list of items at the end of June. I went back and forth with someone named Melissa O and another employee named Jeremy neither of which would admit that Nathaniel should not have quoted me an amount without a list of items. It was just so terrible to find out the day of the move that my actual price was going to be almost twice the quoted amount. The other issue I had was with delivery. Scout could only give me a window of three days and the days kept switching and even up until the day before the delivery I had no idea when they would be there. It is hard to plan with work and life. My stuff was delivered and a few things were damaged. I have a vintage chair that is worth quite a lot of money and a piece of the leg was missing. My fairly new box spring was damaged and many boxes were smashed or broken. The company is very hard to get a hold of - almost no one answers the phone and one of the phone numbers didn't even work at all. DO NOT USE SCOUT MOVING. read more

I know people crib about movers all the time but I move a lot and this is the only time I think the service was horrible and I thought at least I can save someone the misery by writing a review. Scout movers will give you a great quote but that comes with a price of waiting for your stuff forever It took a month for my stuff to get here. I decided to pay an extra $550 to get it expedited but Melissa (manager) bluntly lied on my face and in the end they just dispatched it at the normal schedule. . There are so many clauses in the contract that you overlook but these guys know how to trick the customer. They are all brokers and the booking, pickup, dispatch everything is done by different groups, and that is just a big NO NO while moving long distance. Please stay away from them. read more

If I could would give zero stars. Worst experience ever! Never use them. Gave a 3 day pickup window and never go formed when they would show up. Then 1 hour before called to say we are coming. Was in such a rush left without checking inventory list and left items behind. Packed some items that were not supposed to be moved and charged extra money to download these. Delivery side was even worse! Was supposed to show up between 3 and 5 pm. - arrived at 6.30pm parked far from home even though space available near home and then demanded $75 extra to live the items. Extremely unprofessional rude drive said things like "I have double parked my truck no where in the U.S. This is illegal" No one should use their service read more

We have never written a Yelp review but felt compelled to write this one, and believe reading my review will be the best research you could do on this company. Not only will we post it on here but we will post it every possible place we could to help any person, family, business, etc  to NOT make the same mistake we did and to NOT use this company.  First let us start by telling you that we worked at SEATAC and we were living in the Seattle area, we accepted a transfer to Savannah, Georgia and agreed to a quick move.  We called Scout and spoke to their salesman Brian.  Brian was charismatic and just acted like the greatest guy who "understood" what we needed to do and put our minds at ease.  We trusted Brian and agreed to go with Scout, a decision we have lived to regret!    Brian promised us that there wouldn't be any hidden costs because they would never do anything without our approval. Same promises are made by their relocation coordinators. He went as far as telling us that they are with us every step of the way.  He is versed on telling you everything you would want to hear and will tell you many lies to get your business. The truth is as soon as Brian gets your business, he no longer talks to you, all of his promises go with him and so you deal with generic emails and put over to "relocation coordinators" who seem to be scripted and equally dishonest, because in truth, the relocation coordinators and sales people have no idea what your costs will be and do not know what happens during and after your move. Or maybe they do know and just keep this racket run silent. At this point if your move is time-sensitive, it is too late to change. I did my best at communicating before, during and after the move so as not to have any surprises.The movers arrived and started on. I showed them what we didn't want packed and moved and asked them at least 5 times if we were close to our estimate and they would tell me we were okay. We were well aware we had a larger load, but like many of our other belongings we gave away and/or sold, we were willing to part with more to keep our cost down. When the door closed, that is when they show you your total and it included a total WELL over twice estimated, including packing they had done and materials used that we specifically did not want. If you cancel at that point they say you are still obligated to pay 60% of the total for time spent, or more to go through and unpack items, and you have to make the payment before they can schedule a pickup/delivery of your goods. Then once they take your belongings, they are then passed over to another sub-contractor (or broker), which is well within their right, but once in their hands you have to deal with that individual and the company is of no assistance. Who in our case, was incredibly intimidating and threatening. In our situation we were advised from an attorney not to pay this man as we were not in contract with him, and to call the police because of his behavior. Or to pay and deal with getting him on his way and deal with Scout regarding payment. We chose the latter. It was an awful experience and still has left me unnerved, which is rare as I can hold my own. We also learned that he re-packed our items from the movers Scout sent and everything was a mess. Not to mention Scout included the extra packing they did in what was supposed to be our final estimate. I.e. Our LCD and smart t.v were wrapped only in moving pads and saran wrap upon arrival. We also ended up paying for storage facilities for delivery because the driver estimated another $1400+ to come to our house. Something we were not aware of until our stuff was on its way. We now still have our belongings stored, they did not have to set or assemble anything and have to pay another company to help us, all the while Scout charged us an additional $6880 on top of what we'd paid them. What I have included in this review is only a fraction of issues we had with this move. I would be happy to show pictures, emails, etc. to anyone who is thinking of using them so you can see the contradiction between the emails sent and what actually happened. My husband works for a large company with people doing transfers all the time. Prior to our move, he passed their info to 7 different families who were interested and now he has since retracted and will spread the word not to use them. In essence, going with a company such as this does in no way lessen the burden of your move. They only added more stress. We were taken advantage of while in a vulnerable situation and on a time crunch for a job move. Please don't let the same happen to you and your family! read more

I wish I had read up the reviews on Scout before deciding on them. they were suggested by someone we knew, but had very few things to move. DO NOT USE!!! i have moved enough times to tell you this is the worst experience we had. they are all about taking all the money upfront (if not they wont start) and then not finishing. They sent fewer people to unload than to load at destination - dont they communicate with each other? they left stuff packed in their packing cloths and left and did not return. Calls to their Relo Coordinator and Sales guys go to voice mail. Not call backs. they said they would put the beds back, but did not. DO NOT use this service. It starts out costing reasonable, but soon adds to a lot more, Nowhere close to the professional relocators, we have dealt with in the past. Very disappointing after the promising start in California. With this type of service, I sure hope they got out of service. read more

Like a lot of moving companies, these guys really fall short in aligning their sales and execution of the move. The sales guy told me something completely different than what I encountered once the move coordinator took over. Additionally on the arrival side the guys were over a week late and I had to reach to them. The damaged and missing items claim process is a disaster. The only reason the my get a one star is that the packers were good and the delivery guys weren't rude, there are better options out there - do not use these guys. Horrible! Worst experience ever! If I could take stars away from them I would, however it's hard for me to believe they have any!!!! They picked up my items from Houston on May 29th and while they gave me 21 business days delivery window, they said it will be more likely to be delivered within a week to San Diego ...yeah first scam!!!! Sure enough one week turned into 8 weeks!! They delivered on July 20th!!!! I was on the phone with them every other day during that 8 weeks! So exhausted and frustrated. ...if you wanna test your limits and patience this is the moving company for you. ...movers themselves are nice but they are mainly contracted from Scouts and they don't work for them. But the company people themselves are very rude with "I don't give a f*#k" attitude. After my items arrived they gave me $300 off for the delay which doesn't cover even 10 percent of cost of hotel and all the things I had to buy to live 60 days without my items! Story doesn't end here. ...they charged me that $300 right back for the long haul! I live in a condo in downtown San Diego. Of course you need to take items to the elevator. They did never share that information with me. I'm not even going to write about damages they cost me in improper handling of packages which were clearly marked and instructed. .. that would be another 2 pages. ...so this is the lesson learned: AVOID THEM AT ALL COST read more

Scout moved my butt from Seattle back to Portland. I suggest you consider that I had Cascade Relo/Scout staff on both ends of the move, and take it with a grain of salt that this is my local, they knew I worked for The Man opinion. But for me, they were great. A particular shout-out to Meagan, my coordinator, who dealt with an unholy mess of a next-day with honesty and understanding for my needs. The actual boots on ground staff was great, too. So, let's talk turkey. All my stuff, next day, for $400 less than anyone else wanted for a week. No weird packing charges. No surprises, and yes, there was that damn elevator fee, but I knew that because it was disclosed before pickup. My move was 100% damage-free. There were no strange crap charges for things I hadn't packed perfectly, or my mattress, or any weird whatsoever. The pickup guys were polite, blunt about what wasn't worth moving, and on time. The delivery was within the window stated, which Meagan helpfully moved up to fit my personal needs. They understood that this was a process and not an all-at-once affair for me and were nothing but polite. Are they necessarily this great when they don't control the whole experience? I don't know. Are they always this good when they don't know they're dealing with a legally knowledgeable lady? No clue. Were they great for me? Yep. Did they come in within $100 of estimate even though I had more crap than I let on? Yep. Can't ask for better in my experience. Your mileage may well vary, but this is mine. read more

Initial contact was great and when they packed up all appeared to be done well. Then the problems began. When they arrived at our home in Palo Alto there were only 2 unloaders who showed up at 6pm after apparently another job and despite being told to put labelled boxes in respective rooms they put them all in the garage and then just placed the baby grand in the living room without reassembling. I was told someone would come the next day... but when no phone call we started calling.. but no answer. Finally after two days of trying they said they were busy and someone would come next week!!! Had to hire another company to reassemble the piano. Hurt my back carrying boxes they should have distributed and insult to injury they had put our favorite African stone sculpture, unwrapped at a bottom of a box and it was smashed to pieces... over $1000 worth of damage. They were doing a move for me from CA to NY. They picked up in CA on 6/29 and didn't deliver to NY until 8/18 They promised to pay me $30 every business day after 7/22. That totals to $540 but they reneged on that and only offered $200. First of all, I grossly misestimated the number of boxes I was going to be moving. The team at Scout was attentive to my calls and emails and helped me stay on track and on budget. Moving is stressful, but by being communicative with them, they were able to assist me before problems or potential bill increases occurred.
