We stopped at Scovill's Grill during our roadtrip and had a really nice, low-key meal. I ordered the eggplant parmesan sandwich and was pleasantly surprised -- crispy on the outside, tender inside, and not overly heavy. The house salad was fresh and simple, just what we wanted to start. The atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming, like a true local spot. Nothing fancy, just good food and friendly service. Driving through Dansville, I spotted a sign for Scovill's. We had our dog with us, so my husband went in to see if we could bring him to sit outside. They said yes, which was GREAT. We were greeted and seated quickly. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Our food was really good. LOVED the buffalo chips. One half sandwich was more than filling. We will be back again if in the area. We came back on the following Sunday to bring our son and his girlfriend for lunch. This time we ordered the buffalo chips, pretzels, Chicken caesar wrap, cobb salad, Chicken quesadillas and California turkey wrap. Enjoyed a meal on their back patio while in town. The pretzels were delicious with two different dipping sauces that were both really good. I got the Pittsburgh salad which was good, but not great. My companions ordered hamburgers which they seemed to enjoy. Service was fine, not great, I think the server was just kind of busy. read more

We came here for lunch today after a brisk hike in the forest. The spot by the fireplace was open and cozy. I had the beef on weck, which has now set the standard that all beef on wecks must try to meet, but I doubt they ever will. The fries were perfect and whatever secret seasoning the chef has created is delicious. In my routine I typically pack half to go, but this was all too delicious to dream of letting be deemed leftover. Our waitress was kind and attentive, and we left feeling like we'd discovered a local secret. We'll definitely be back, and I'd say even go out of the way to come back a bunch. read more

Note - This was our first visit to Scovill's. Looking for a place to go and enjoy a night out we chose to give them a try, we had made a reservation. We were greeted almost immediately and after a short wait were shown to our table. Unfortunately, the Friday seafood specials were gone but the menu looked interesting. Service was relatively prompt and courteous. It took a bit for our drink order but that was understandable. My wife enjoyed her wine but I have yet to find a moderately priced establishment in our region that knows how to make a Manhattan correctly, and for what is charged that should be a given. My soup was very good and my wife's app also met her expectation. My dinner arrived cold and the entree brought to my wife was not what she had ordered. The server was very good about it having both corrected and she did so in a reasonable amount of time. The food quality of my meal was average at best, my wife loved hers. The restaurant was clean and the ambiance as good as any restaurant in the region. Drink prices were a bit higher than anticipated but the menu is competitively priced. We will likely give Scovill's another opportunity to turn 3 stars into 5. read more

We came by to this very cute town on our way to Canada. I have only heard of this town because when COVID was rampant, the hospital in town was hiring medical staffs to help out. So the name rang a bell when we were looking for a bite to eat. We came by for lunch. We did not know that this restaurant is part of a golf course. The view was beautiful. We had Sammy as our waitress. She will be very memorable for me from the conversation that I had with her about her mom. Very lovely girl. Had the calamari, chicken prosciutto pasta special which was phenomenal, Weck burger and salad with the house made ranch dressing which was excellent. Food was very good. View was excellent. Sammy was awesome. I hope to be back to this town sooner than later. read more

Looking for a place, close to home and with NFL package. This is a small place. Very clean. As you come int you see a bar with 6 stools and 2 tables with 4 big TVs. The far side has a quieter area with 6 or 7 tables plus a private room that will hold about 20 people. The menu is small with some great choices. I tried the Broccoli cheese soup with was very good. I also had the Elk Burger with Fries. The fries were cooked perfectly. My Elk was ordered medium rare but came back a bit past medium. It came with bacon that needed a little more cooking but ok, caramelized onions, that were sweet and soft, and a tangy barbecue sauce. Service was spot on. Clearly a place to try. read more

In my bride's home town, Scovill's is a little hard to find if one does not know the area especially well, or hasn't been back to the area in a number of years, but we got there. Service was good for a late lunch, and the food was also good. The TV had a football game on and I'm assuming it was the owners checking with us to make sure the game being on wasn't a bother to us. We enjoyed our visit, and if we are in the area again, we might just do it again. read more

Dinner for 12 people (birthday celebration) was as expected...great! We were put in their "private" room off the Dining Room. I didn't hear any complaints, only compliments about the food. I think everyone got something different...an eclectic menu ...BLTTA (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Turkey, Avocado), Shaved Steak Sub, 1/2# All American Burger, Wings, Boneless Wings were some of the entrees. Sides are Tater Tots, French Fries and Homemade Chips. I had the homemade chips with their homemade ranch...fantastic...way better than HVR! They have a few local craft beers on tap too. En route to Philly from Niagara, we decided to stop for lunch. Reviews on Yelp for this place prompted us to go in and we were expecting a decent fare. But to our surprise, the food that came in was an absolute delight! We ordered an All American burger and a Chicken mushroom sandwich and both were lip smackingly good! The appetizers we ordered were calamari and the Buffalo chips and both were pretty good too. Came here after visiting Stony Brook State park. Saw the reviews and stopped by. Wait staff was very friendly. Our order came out pretty quickly as well. The food was all very good. Started with the Bruschetta very good and the right size for 2. We each ordered a salad. Caesar Salad add Chicken for her and the Apple, Cranberry walnut salad. Both also very good. Our "regular" fish fry restaurant was unexpectedly closed, so we decided to try Scovill's. We did a takeout order of two fish fries and a their All American burger. Wow! So good! The fish fry dinners came out in these big, flat, cardboard boxes that were a bit surprising at first. But when we got home and opened them we were immediately impressed. Good sized portion of fish that were perfectly fried in an amazing batter. Hubby had fries and veggies with his, along with a salad. I had onion rings (that came with this fabulous spicy dip), coleslaw and a salad. There was also a small loaf of fresh bread wrapped in foil that was still warm. Everything was amazing. Daughter's burger was big, well seasoned, cooked to specification, and came on a brioche bun that was delicious on its own. The fries were still warm, even after a ride home in frigid weather, and were nicely seasoned, not just salted. I just wish I had thought to take a pic of the meals, but we were hungry! Overall, we were thrilled with our meals! Dare I say that we might have found a new "regular" fish fry place? Lol! read more

Our dinner was great, the prime rib was very tastily. The service is another thing. We wanted for our dinner for 40 minutes and then got it. You tell it was sitting in the kitchen as it was warm but not hot. We ate in about 20 minutes and then sat there for another 25 minutes for the bill. There was not a shortage of servers. Picked Scovill's off of Yelp when searching for someplace to eat dinner after an all day conference. Started off the meal with the sweet potato egg rolls, which were bigger than we expected and delicious! We chose the Salmon and Pork Porterhouse for entrees and both had the best flavor! The homemade Apple relish combined with a maple mustard glaze was a perfect compliment to the salmon. The pork porterhouse was a large portion, also with excellent flavor and you have to try the loaded potato cake as a side! The presentation of all the dishes was excellent! Last night, I enjoyed my first meal at Scovill's Grill. On a blustery night, the ambiance was warm, service friendly and attentive, food was delicious, and the cracklings fireplace made the whole dining room was heartwarming. I had a wonderful large salad, with grilled chicken, mozzarella, dried cranberries and sliced gala apples in vinaigrette. The portion was generous, reasonably priced, beautifully presented and yummy. We ended up at Scoville's on a Sunday for dinner after a day trip to Stony Brook. We chose this restaurant because it was one of the only open on Sundays in the area (one star for that) and their menu included a veggie burger and portobello burger, as well as a line of text stating they are vegetarian friendly, so I thought there would be a good chance of finding something to eat that didn't contain any animal products... Unfortunately for me, The house made veggie burger contains both eggs and dairy and The portobello sandwich is only available for lunch. I didn't expect a vegan menu, but something other than a bowl of raw veggies would have been nice. The service was friendly (one more star) and the food we did get was fresh and good (one more star), but we won't be back simply because I can get a salad anywhere. It is wonderful that so many restaurants offer veggie burgers these days, but it would be a huge step for them to realize that vegetarians and vegans and the health conscious will eat a veggie burger that does NOT contain eggs or dairy, but only vegetarians will eat them with eggs and dairy in them. Why not feed 3 birds with one scone? read more
