Ordered biscuits & gravy & French toast sticks. Biscuits were tasty but gravy had no sausage. You had to order "protein" to go with it. A patty was placed on top biscuit before gravy (white, tasty) poured on top. Very friendly, accommodating staff. Out of the way of the crowds & in a peaceful neighborhood. Scratch Biscuit Kitchen is a quaint, very clean, and attractively decorated restaurant in the Watercolor community. The food was so good, that we went there for breakfast 3 days in a row. Service was friendly and consistently excellent. We tried many of the menu items: the "Youngin" with sausage, the Fried Chicken Biscuit, the Biscuits and Country Gravy, the Old Southern Breakfast, the Grub Bowl, the Yellow Grits, and the Fried Chicken Sandwich. Eggs were cooked perfectly, and the fried chicken breast was tender, juicy, hot, and crispy--some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. I highly recommend this place. That's a damn good biscuit! We waited 35min. from ordering but overall it was I guess worth the wait, heck we're on vacation. I got the scrambled bowl and wife got the original southern breakfast with 2eggs, hash brown, biscuit and bacon. All food came in paper trays or bowl but we found the wait to be a bit long. Good coffee and nice lady on the counter. The restaurant was more of a cafe and busy. Plenty of seating outside. read more

Came here for breakfast and decided to try the chicken biscuit as the staff informed me it was one of the most popular items on the menu. Parking can be tricky but they do have a small parking lot behind the building. Inside was crowded but the line moved pretty swiftly. We placed our orders and then we were able to find a table. I ordered iced coffee, confetti cupcake and the chicken biscuit. The chicken biscuit was huge, too huge to actually enjoy. The biscuit was soaked in honey so the bottom biscuit was soggy and hard to pick up. The biscuit lacked flavor and overall was not enjoyable. The cupcake was good. Loved that they had a live musician playing outside and service was good! Unfortunately, we were a little disappointed in the flavors and quality of the fried chicken and biscuits. My chicken was overcooked so the thick breading tasted burnt and mostly fell off the chicken. The bottom biscuit was so saturated in the honey butter that it fell apart, so not a sandwich..and then trying to cut the tough chicken just made it not fun to eat. I wouldn't order it again but if I did, it would be with all jams/butters on the side. Great jam choices. We enjoyed the apple butter and pepper jelly. The Youngin biscuit was a little burnt and underwhelming. I wish you could order different kind of a cheese because American is yuck. read more

We stopped in for breakfast while staying in the area AND it did not disappoint! Santa Rosa Beach/Seaside is our new home away from home AND this was one of my new favorite finds. The biscuit is soft and perfect. I had the chicken biscuit, bread pudding, my husband had shrimp and grits with sausage, our daughter had French toast sticks and our daughter's friend had a breakfast bowl.. the grits are super well seasoned and cheesy. Shrimp N' Grits were definitely the spotlight of the day. Simply buttery, flavorful, and 5/5! The bowl was for my buddy and he devoured it before I could try. :-/ He must've been hungry from his last meal 21 minutes prior to this picture. Lol The let down was was the chicken biscuit. It wasn't full flavored, and the biscuit was dry. I was going to help the wife with it but after sampling a bite, I quickly declined the rest. 2/5. Good place for breakfast with indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the counter, they give you a beeper, and then you pick up your food when it goes off. For drinks they have sodas, tea, juice, and a coffee machine. Hubs was disappointed that the machine didn't make cappuccino. I got the full southern breakfast which was 2 eggs, 2 sides, and a biscuit. For my sides I got bacon and grits. The bacon was cooked extra crisp. It was very good. The grits were very good and the portion size was very big. The kids enjoyed the French toast sticks and there were enough for them to share with some leftover. read more

Have been hearing all the hype about this place. First tip was to get here early, which we did.. 2nd folks here. Ordering went smooth except they could not make a cappuccino.... Disappointed for sure. After about 8 minutes after ordering our food was ready. Everything is served in cardboard baskets... I guess it soaks up the grease better lol. I ordered the sausage biscuits and gravy as it sounded great! That's where the excitement ended on my first bite.. really salty and is no where near best gravy I have tasted.. you get better at Cracker Barrel....for the prices, not sure I will give this place a second chance..... the shop itself is set up decent and gets crowded quick. read more

Best hash brown I ever had! Biscuit was good - to me it was cooked perfectly. Chocolate pancakes were good! And andouille sausage wasn't too spicy. You go inside the store then stand in line to order, then they give you a buzzer that'll go off when you food is ready. It's a little small inside the building but they have outdoor seating. The biscuits have a wonderful flavor, they do crumble a bit so not a bad idea to have a side of gravy to finish it off. Son had the Grub Bowl with bacon and grits, loved the grits. Disappointing. The word Scratch conjures up dreams of light flakey biscuits with a bit of a crispy on the top and bottom. We even asked if the biscuits were fresh this morning. At first we were told they weren't ready yet; then we were told they were Should have stopped right then. But we took a chance. Ended up throwing our breakfast away after picking through it. Sure we could have made a fuss but my wife calmly shared our disappointment and we left. This service experience is on them. The biscuit was rubbery and tough. The sausage was good and definitely from scratch - no preformed patty here. The sausage gravy was good. The hash brown "casserole" is a stretch for $3 - it's actually just a single hash brown. Maybe, this experience was just because we arrived right at 6:30am (when the takeout window first opens) and they weren't at their best? Biscuits so good that we had to come twice during our stay in Seaside! I'm not sure how we missed this spot last year when we stayed in the area but I'm glad we checked it out on this trip! Our first visit, I had the bacon and cheese on my biscuit and it was very good. The bacon was crispy but the only issue I had was the bottom side of my biscuit fell apart a little. Flavor was still great though! The top had a little crunch but the inside of the biscuit was soft and flaky. My husbands chicken biscuit fell apart a little as well so when we came back we got a plain biscuit with a side of strawberry jam and it was heavenly!! Service was super friendly and the space has a ton of indoor and outdoor seating. Highly recommend! read more

Great service and yummy food! My family and I arrived at 8 am on a rainy weekday. Our order was placed right away. And our food was delivered to our table a few minutes later. Staff was always cleaning the floor, tables and wiping things down. Everyone was really friendly to us also. My pimento cheese biscuit was delicious. Came here for breakfast after seeing a lot of hype about it online. I know this is a chain, but the food looked so good I had to try it. We heard to get here early because of limited parking and seating. We got here probably 15 minutes after it opened and it wasn't crowded at all. They have indoor and outdoor seating. You order and pickup at the counter. I ordered the French toast sticks and a side biscuit and a latte. The biscuit was delicious. The French toast sticks were just ok, they tasted homemade but didn't have much flavor. Definitely needed some syrup to go with it. I'd say overall the food was good, not great. I also didn't like that all our food was served in to go containers, rather than plates, definitely doesn't give a good ambiance. We paid $50 pre tip for my husband, me and my 2 kids (who split an order of the French toast sticks). Pretty pricey for breakfast. Overall, I'd maybe give them another try but definitely not in a rush to come back. read more

We walked in and it was very busy so we decided to take our food to go. We waited in the order line (you order at the counter, then seat yourself) for about 15-20 minutes. Didn't SEEM like they were working slow, but the wait time speaks for itself. We ordered and the service was okay, not overly friendly but also not rude. I ordered a mocha and she said that they don't have that. So I just ordered an iced caramel latte. She got into the cooler and got a pint of pre-brewed espresso from a couple days before. I've never seen that before, they had an espresso machine in the same area. Maybe it's because I ordered it iced? I'm not sure. The espresso tasted like a bottle you buy from a store. It's what I drink at home and it tasted familiar. Wasn't bad necessarily just wasn't sure why they do it that way. We sat outside waiting for our to-go order and we waited about 30 minutes for all three orders to be ready. The food was very good just not hot once we got back home.
