Came here for breakfast after seeing a lot of hype about it online. I know this is a chain, but the food looked so good I had to try it. We heard to get here early because of limited parking and seating. We got here probably 15 minutes after it opened and it wasn't crowded at all. They have indoor and outdoor seating. You order and pickup at the counter. I ordered the French toast sticks and a side biscuit and a latte. The biscuit was delicious. The French toast sticks were just ok, they tasted homemade but didn't have much flavor. Definitely needed some syrup to go with it. I'd say overall the food was good, not great. I also didn't like that all our food was served in to go containers, rather than plates, definitely doesn't give a good ambiance. We paid $50 pre tip for my husband, me and my 2 kids (who split an order of the French toast sticks). Pretty pricey for breakfast. Overall, I'd maybe give them another try but definitely not in a rush to come back. read more

We walked in and it was very busy so we decided to take our food to go. We waited in the order line (you order at the counter, then seat yourself) for about 15-20 minutes. Didn't SEEM like they were working slow, but the wait time speaks for itself. We ordered and the service was okay, not overly friendly but also not rude. I ordered a mocha and she said that they don't have that. So I just ordered an iced caramel latte. She got into the cooler and got a pint of pre-brewed espresso from a couple days before. I've never seen that before, they had an espresso machine in the same area. Maybe it's because I ordered it iced? I'm not sure. The espresso tasted like a bottle you buy from a store. It's what I drink at home and it tasted familiar. Wasn't bad necessarily just wasn't sure why they do it that way. We sat outside waiting for our to-go order and we waited about 30 minutes for all three orders to be ready. The food was very good just not hot once we got back home. I've been a big fan of Scratch Biscuit Kitchen since they opened, which is why I'm disappointed to leave this average 3 star review. The morning began on a hiccup, because I was bringing friends for the first time and excited to introduce them to a whole menu of original and delicious biscuit sandwiches. When I arrived, the menu had been culled to only 3 biscuit sandwiches - none of which were the pimento cheese biscuit. This was further surprising because as of this review, the pimento cheese biscuit was still listed on the online menu. Therefore, I decided to give the burger biscuit a try, which was the most unusual burger on the menu, beautifully presented but underwhelming in taste. Additionally, the biscuit wasn't dense enough to hold up to all the fillings, crumbling under their weight. I know businesses must change and I'm looking forward to giving Scratch another try as a breakfast establishment. There are pancakes and hashbrowns and other breakfast items to try in the future. Moving forward, I'll consider this a breakfast spot instead of a biscuit spot. Sadly, the name is now misleading and should be updated. read more

The wait to place the order was very slow then the wait for the food was another 20 minutes or so. But the biscuits were so yummy! If you are staying in Watercolor/seaside, this is a a good quick breakfast option (especially for families). Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the front and get your number and they will bring your food to you. Biscuits are about $6 and they do have a daily happy hour I believe where food is half off. The biscuits are nothing to write home about but it was a solid portion for good prices and quick service for watercolor standards. this delicious spot goes down as our find of the year. Such a great surprise. We found ourselves in the area, looking for a spot to stretch our legs while on the road and Google brought us to Watercolor. After a lovely walk around the park and the village, it was time for lunch. We had previously attempted to search out a place nearby to find good Southern biscuits without success. So that's what we decided to look for today. And amazingly, we found Scratch 250 feet away! We entered to find a small town beachy vibe, indoor and patio dining, and a menu of enticing options that included dishes beyond just biscuits. The prices are extremely reasonable based on our two weeks on the road. The Lunch Box deal seems like a screaming deal. Scratch also serves alcohol should you be in the mood for a festive brunch. The biscuits here are a bit different than many southern style biscuits we have enjoyed in the past. Baked square, lighter and fluffier than some of the denser types from say the Carolinas or Georgia. Lightly crisp on the outside and soft in the inside. Marvelous. After perusing the menu (and watching a delicious looking order of the Griddle Cakes go by), my DW chose the Arugula Salad with Strawberries, Tomatoes, and Candied Pecans with a biscuit on the side. My choice was the Biscuit and Gravy with sausage patty. I tried to overcomplicate it by asking for the sausage and the gravy on one side of the biscuit so as to be able to try half with some butter or jam but the very personable Michelle just said they would put the gravy on the side and let me do things my own way. Brilliant. The biscuits, while a bit on the crumbly side, were divine. Whether with Honey Butter, Strawberry Jam, or warm Sausage Gravy we loved every bite. The salad came with Honey Balsamic dressing that was excellent with the berries and nuts. My biscuit held up well under the thick gravy. And the sausage they use here is very tasty also. Michele came over to our table to check and see that we were happy and we enjoyed a nice conversation about the business, our travels this trip, and her history of finding her way to Watercolor. She and the other young lady working on our visit were both the kind of folks it's a pleasure to find providing customer service these days. I'd absolutely return to Scratch. The biscuits and hash brown casserole were really good, but the star of brunch was the popsicle mimosas! The cantaloupe was so good and refreshing! Unfortunately, this loss makes their food options into just average breakfast items. The hash browns are over cooked. My husband ordered avocado toast and there was no visible avocado...just a smear of it. Had we be dining on site, he would have taken it back and asked why so minimal avocado. He NEVER does this. We had done takeout that morning. We noticed the lineup at the restaurant was minimal. In the past, one could stand for 30 minutes in line waiting to order. What happened Scratch?
