I've ordered cupcakes from Scratch My Batch twice now. No guest has ever uttered anything besides "these are the best cupcakes I've ever had" or "these cupcakes are freaking delicious", and they're all correct! I've ordered the mini delight and these small cupcakes are the perfect bite size. I'm usually not a vanilla gal but the vanilla cupcakes were to DIE for and had so much flavor for your standard ole' vanilla flavor. The chocolate ones were, well, chocolatey and delicious! You can tell immediately without knowing where these cupcakes are from that they are not store bought. The actual cake is so fluffy and light, and the frosting was velvety and smooth. We order mini cupcakes for an office Juneteenth party. Everyone loved them, especially the banana pudding cupcakes. One person said, they are so light and fluffy. Another employee that lives in Indiana said he would even drive to pick up a cake or something from here because they are so good. Scratch My Batch has some of the most delectable desserts I've had yet! I'm not usually a dessert person either, I usually only crave it, once in a blue moon. But, these cupcakes just disappeared as soon as I tasted them. Literally devoured them in two bites - the first to taste the flavor then the second because I just wanted it all. The cupcakes are moist and soft while the frosting is very light but packs a flavor that really mixed well with the cupcake so that you're not just tasting all frosting. I also bought one of the mousses and it was perfect! Chef Nikki kept the mousse frozen so my drive home didn't ruin the experience of the dessert. But eating it was event better. Soft layers, not too overpowering, and the layers really taste great all together too! I'm definitely going to get more! read more

(Review based on 10/2/21) First off, this review is long overdue! But despite the time that has passed, I remember exactly how much I loved Scratch My Batch bakery. I came for a Yelp Elite experience and then came back the next week to purchase more cupcakes. Upon walking up to their station (which was a stall in the Downers Grove Farmers Market), I was met with an infectious smile and all around amazing good vibes. You were instantly welcomed and you could tell that the owner just cared so much about her craft and was passionate about her products, rightfully so. Truly, the kindness and welcoming aura really is what made this such a great experience. Now onto the cupcakes, they were AMAZING. Not too sweet, and a perfect blend of flavors. We had the 4 pack of the fall flavors. They were so good I dug in and completely forgot to take more aesthetic photos. The cupcakes were perfectly moist and not too dense either. A perfect way to end your meal! My favorites were the Pumpkin Spice and the Cinnamon Roll. The cake and the frosting were simply *chef's kiss*. I wish when I went back for more the second time around, I tried one of her delicious jars. I will most definitely be back for their next Farmers Market when winter is over. Love at first bite! -- I found Scratch My Batch at the Downers Grove Farmer's Market through Yelp and so glad I did! SMB is a local, black owned business and the cupcakes are AMAZING! Chef Nikki was at the tent herself and introduced herself and was super sweet! (Just like her cupcakes ;-)!) I also appreciated that everyone at her tent had masks on, which was very respectful and made the guests feel safe. Now on to the goodies... I got the fall flavor pack of 4 which had Yumkin Pumpkin, Cinna-Roll, Sweetie Pie, and We want S'more! All the cupcakes were moist and flavorful, and you can tell they were prepared with care! My only compliant would be that I just want more now! As far as pricing they have VERY reasonable prices on their cupcakes and I was sad they were already almost sold out by the time we got there (around 11 am). Next time I'll come earlier so I can try more cupcakes AND some of the batch jars (basically a cupcake in a jar but better). Overall LOVED everything about SMB and cannot wait to have more! I got to sample 4 tasty treats from Chef Nikki as part of the Yelp elite event at the downers grove farmers market. She was the nicest person ever and even more excited to greet me in her tent. All I can say is that I was so excited to try the cupcakes I didn't even take a picture! They were all such unique flavors. The smores one with the salted caramel was great. We LOVED working with Chef Nikki for our wedding! It was super important for us to support locally-owned, BIPOC businesses and once we tried Nikki's creations it was an EASY yes.
