WOW..!! The burgers were YUM-O-RIFIC...!!! Home made burgers AND homemade buns...!!! Deep fried mac and cheese and cauliflower were very tasty too. You could actually taste the inside and not just the breading. Service was GREAT. Both the young ladies behind the counter were fast serving up the food and very friendly. The owner came in just as we were about to leave and now I understand why everything was so good. He was a down to earth gentleman who we had a nice chat with. Big fun ice cream stand in a small blink and miss town, my buddy and I wrapped up a cone which was way too easy to eat. This is the value us big city boys miss. I haven't seen prices like this in way too long! Bummer we were not hungry to eat food food! The Food here is absolutely delicious! This small town restaurant is to die for! The prices are great you really get a lot for what you pay for, and the customer service is absolutely amazing! They don't wash their hands after handling the cash register. Touching dirty money then right back to food prep. Also saw someone touching raw bacon, without washing hands then picked up other food items never washing hands. I worked in food industry 40+ years and that's cross contamination. read more

I travel a lot for work in and out just about every area in IL and others states . Every once in a while you come across hidden gem. Screamers doesn't look like much and is in very small town but man they have best food. I know steak sandwiches if you knew me you know that I know steak sandwiches, I just had steak sandwich which easily best I have in long time. At first glance, there is not much to this place. It's a little shack off of Route 30. I didn't even know there was a drive thru until I tried to park in the lot. But the food was pretty good. I had a chili dog with tater tots. Right off the bat, a plus for the tots since very few places like to serve them. The chili dog was good. I liked the chili and the fact that they served the onions not raw (maybe steamed?) and the cheese was real cheese (not canned). It made everything go together really well. Even their tots were cooked to perfection... crisped without being too overcooked. The one downsize is the portion size. It's a little small for the price. We live about 3 hours away and stopped here for lunch as we were headed north for a wedding. We had planned on stopping at Portillo's in Rockford, but our stomachs weren't going to wait. After searching through Yelp, two reviews stuck out: daily fresh baked buns and 'hidden gem'. Took the slight detour off of 39 and enjoyed the drive to the restaurant. The owner gave us his recommendations of the BBQ brisket hamburger and the Garlic Steak and Cheese sandwich. My husband ordered one and I got the other so we could split them and each get the chance to try them. We also ordered an order of onion rings to share. So happy we tried something new. Both sandwiches were amazing, as were the onion rings. The fresh baked buns really brought the sandwiches to next level awesome. I would TOTALLY recommend this restaurant to anyone passing by. I was too full after lunch to get an ice cream cone, but I know my husband enjoyed every bit of his dipped cone! read more

Screamer's is a summer time favorite for our family. We love the food. My favorite is the Garlic steak and cheese wrap, mmmmmm! My husband and kids love the fries. The staff is very friendly. And of course the ice cream, delish, love the flurries. The kids are always so sad when they close for the winter and the spring opening is like a holiday for them. read more

My husband and I love Screamers. We go camping in Shabbona and eat here at least once every time we camp. The owners are very nice, the food is delicious and there is a decent size menu and the ice cream is delicious. Everything is always fresh and you get a lot for your money. The fries are one of my favorites but we try something new everytime we go. They are very accomodating if you want to substitute or create your own item. We would recommend for sure! read more

Very Good. The owners have many items on the menu that are their own originals. They use lots of fresh ingredients. There is usually one or both of the owners in there and they are always nice to talk to. My favorite is the tuna melt, it is a large sandwich made with Texas toast I think it is seasoned then cooked on the grill, the tuna is always good and they top it with cheese and whatever vegetables you want. They also have a blizzard flavor that is made up of a bunch of random candies and nuts, it is called the TNT and it is very good, never had anything like it anywhere else. read more
