Our favorite pizza in Savannah! When I first visited Savannah several people told me to go to this other pizza place (we won't name names) but one of the local girls who worked at the hotel said, "oh no...if you want the best, get Mimi's" and we never looked back! I cannot recommend them enough - awesome pizza! I went in late on a Saturday' afternoon. Family was back at hotel and 2 locals at different establishments both said this is where they go. I was skeptical, but we always like trying new things (and now an imperative to compare it to a place on west end of City Market). Highly recommend this place. My husband and I drove into Savannah, Georgia the night before our anniversary. We were craving pizza so I quickly jumped on Yelp to find a pizza joint distinct to GA. I came across Screamin' Mimi's and knew I had to order from their establishment. I was craving a chicken parmigiana sandwich and my husband got a standard pepperoni pizza. I must say. Everything was out of Thai world. The pizza reminded me of a thin NY style pizza. My chicken parmigiana was half the length of my arm. Very moist and had a lot of freshly cooked chicken. Not a fan of the service. Came in to grab a pizza that I ordered online that differed from the price on the menu. There are two counters for pickup so I went to the online order pickup counter and the people behind the counter just looked at me. So I gave my name and one of them started looking for my order. When he finally found it, I thanked him nicely and he said nothing. Felt very weird to be honest. There are tables to sit in but I wouldn't recommend. We walked in this evening and ordered up one of their 18" pepperoni pizzas ($18) plus a garlic bread with cheese ($6). We also got a couple of bottles of beer ($3-$4 each) and went outside to sit at one of their 3 outdoor tables. It took them about 15 minutes to make the food and bring it to our table. The garlic bread was one of the best I have ever had, with chewy cheese and dense bread, covered in Italian seasoning. The pizza was nice and hot, with lots of cheese, sweet sauce, and thin crust (except the edges). Oddly, the bottom of the whole pizza was still white, it would have been better if they cooked it a little longer to a golden brown. Regardless, it was really good tasting pizza. read more

We have ordered to-go several times from Mimi's and this is one of the best pizza places in Savannah!!! Plus the pizzas are MASSIVE. Service is fast and you typically are waiting around 20-30 to pick up a togo order, which is worth it in my opinion. Nice spot, but only massive 18 inch pizzas or slices. We split an 18 inch, which worked out perfectly. Staff is wonderful, funny and helpful. Greek salad was loaded with olives and feta. I grew up in Philadelphia; and used to travel to NYC(Brooklyn) for business, so I think I know NY style pizza when I see and taste it, and they got it down right. Yes, It's Jersey style, and I've been to Atlantic City a thousand times, it's all the same. With that said, this is far and away, the best pizza spot in this area! My only drawback, is what they now do, that most pizza establishments are doing. Making a bunch of cheese pies, then adding toppings according to orders. Which is a huge mistake, and tastes horrible. I know it's cost effective, and saves time, but it's cheap and makes your product taste old. Either the toppings aren't cooked fully, or the crust is burnt, cause of of the reheating. To avoid this, I suggest you order in person, so you can see them make it fresh. Other than that, I really like Screamin' Mimi's. read more

Everytime we are in Savannah, GA we make a stop at Screamin' Mimi's to grab some pizza. We stopped in on a Sunday night and it wasn't too busy. The staff was all singing along to their jams and that provided for some background entertainment. The eat in area isn't real big but it worked for us (a group of 5). The pizzas are pretty big and we ordered two not remembering just how big they are and ended up taking a while one home. Others have mentioned this. We are not the first. The middle (1/3 of the pizza) is soggy and undercooked. All the toppings slide off when you lift a wedge, except the topping close to the crust rim. I had a good experience at the more popular pizza place in town during my last trip, but they close at 3 o'clock every day, which was exactly when I would be arriving. I didn't think we'd find any restaurant in the Historic District that's not all hipster chic. Not that I don't like those places, I do, but you either have to reserve a table or wait a while, and they're expensive. And parking is off-street and FREE! In the Historic District! The staff is very friendly and fun, the atmosphere is fun too, and the service is great. The indoor seating is pretty limited. The pizza is quite good considering that this is the Southeast. I wouldn't give five stars if they were located in, say, NYC. But I'm from Pittsburgh where they also have great pizza, and I was impressed with the quality. read more

BEWARE. This place has made us wait 3 hours for pizza which never came. Every time we called to check on the pizza delivery time, the person answering the phone was incredibly rude and unhelpful. We tried to cancel around the 2 hour mark, after which they called right back to say the pizza was close by and would be delivered. We just called again only to be told that our ordered had been cancelled after all. The man on the end of the line named Will was so over the top rude. This was a great pizza. It was cheap, large, taste great. Over all very impressed. They have both a pick up and delivery option which is ideal because it was Saturday night and impossible to find parking down town. The only problem is that it took about 1.5 hours to deliver the pizza. Which would have been fine if that had been stated somewhere when I ordered but I didn't realize it would take that long when I ordered. When the pizza did come the driver let me know that the pizza was being delivered to my hotels front desk soon. I just got a regular pizza and I think it would feed between 2-3 people depending on how hungry you are. I hadn't ate all day and was starving and ate half the pizza. But I am a pretty small girl so if it had been a regular meal I would have probably wanted 1/4 to 1/3 of the pizza. read more

Who makes pizza at this place know what they are doing. Sure, it is not a wood fire pizza, but electric oven cooking actually allows for a more consistent taste and consistency. I'm all for electric oven. In Italy, most pizzerias run indeed on electric oven. After two days in the. fridge it was still tasting great (reheated on a pan, not a microwave!). I first tried Screaming Mimi's a few months ago, and even though I waited almost 30 minutes past the pickup time, I assumed the delay was a fluke. I ordered online again tonight, arrived on time, and still waited 10 minutes as my name hadn't been called out. "We're working on it it," I'm told curtly. Twenty minutes later -- a full one hour since I placed the order, and thirty minutes past the listed time it would be ready, we asked again. "We're working on it," we're told again. Asking for specifics, we're told it's about to go into the oven. (to repeat: It's an hour after being ordered, thirty minutes after it's supposed to be ready for pick up, and still not in the oven). I'm mostly pissed off by the flippant attitude of BOTH guys behind the counter. So, I ask to cancel and refund the order. The cashier, who is obviously trying to keep pleasant in spite of the egregiously bad attitudes of the pizza guys, started to process the refund, but is interrupted by one of the pizza guys who openly argues with her about how to work the register. Awkward. I appreciate they may have been slammed, but attitude and service goes a long way. If upon arrival I (and others arriving for pickups) were greeted and possibly informed there was a 30 minute backup would have been common courtesy.
