The company was good on the front end. The quote & scheduling of install was done well. Material quality is NOT GOOD! My replacement screen door is flimsy. Not solid feeling like the original at all. The corner joints have gaps. And this is super strange. There are 4 bolts largely out of the frame (see attached pics). I assumed these just weren't screwed down all the way. When I called, I was told they are supposed to be there and look like that, as they offer adjustment on the rollers so the door glides smoothly. Okay, I appreciate the intent. But these steel bolts look ridiculous! It looks totally unnatural and like the install was unfinished. They stick out physically and aesthetically. Of course I would not have bought these had I known these ridiculous things would stick out of the inside of the frame. Good people. Bad product.

I wanted to take advantage of the SRP rebate to get solar screens installed on my windows to reduce the utility bill in the summer. I found Screens Unlimited from the SRP recommended contractor list. The whole experience was super easy with Nadya and Mike at Screens Unlimited. Email communication was prompt and Nadya answered all of my questions. Mike gave me all the technical information I needed and was very honest and straight to the point when I asked questions - how to maintain the shades (light spray with water only), if there was a difference in color (darker shades last longer and perform better), and recommendations on how to split between 80%/90%. Both of them were very helpful in filling out all the required information to get the SRP rebate and to ensure all of my windows were covered. The shades were ordered and installed within 2 weeks of paying the 50% deposit. The overall price was cheaper than I was expecting. About $1500 for 270 sqft of windows. I know the material is not too expensive and a DIY project would save a good chunk of money, but Mike was extremely efficient in the installation and the windows look great.

Extremely disappointing experience with K&J Windows. I would not recommend this company…read more Our sales representative was great, but almost everything after the sale was a completely different experience. Our Milgard windows arrived at K&J's warehouse on time, yet the owner and office continued telling us they had not arrived. I eventually confirmed through one of their installers that the windows were already there. Only after I called K&J and told them I knew they had been delivered did the story change. I was then told installation would be more than another month away. Before ordering, K&J sent out the installer the owner described as their "best installer" because our job was complicated. He inspected everything beforehand to confirm measurements, window types, and installation requirements. After our windows arrived, we learned the installers we had been working with were no longer working with K&J. We were told K&J had a major installation backlog and had hired another crew. That crew subsequently stopped working with them as well. The delays and misinformation we had been receiving suddenly made much more sense. Things became worse when I met the owner. He was extremely rude and dismissive toward my wife. While walking the project with another installer, he repeatedly interrupted everyone and told them to stop talking and listen to him because he knew what he was doing. He then announced that ALL of our windows were wrong, blamed the installers who had left, and said K&J could no longer complete our job and would have to refund us. At this point, WE HAD ALREADY WAITED OVER SIX MONTHS. With the owner standing there, I asked the installer directly if the windows were actually wrong. He disagreed with the owner and explained why they could be installed correctly. At that point, I completely lost confidence in K&J and chose to have the original installers complete the job independently--the same installers the owner and sales representative had previously praised as their best people. I also learned K&J sells the windows but uses subcontractors for installation. Anyone considering them should get clear answers IN WRITING about exactly who will install your windows and who is responsible for installation workmanship, repairs, and warranty issues. The final straw came when we picked up our windows from their warehouse. The owner, his son, and other employees were there. Their behavior toward both me and the installers was rude, confrontational, aggressive, and incredibly unprofessional. Comments made during that interaction also reinforced my belief that customers were being told their windows had not arrived when the actual problem was K&J's installation backlog. The Milgard windows themselves were never the problem. They arrived as expected, and our initial sales experience was good. The problems were K&J's communication, scheduling, management, treatment of customers and installers, and the owner's handling of our project. What was even more concerning was what happened when we started sharing our experience with friends, family, and others in our neighborhood. Multiple people told us they had the SAME OR VERY SIMILAR experiences with K&J. Some actually told us they wished they had known we were considering K&J beforehand because they would have warned us not to use them. I really wish we had talked to them first. After more than SIX MONTHS of waiting, contradictory information, multiple installation crews leaving, being told our windows weren't there when they were, and ultimately being told K&J couldn't complete the job, we had enough. I have dealt with many contractors and businesses over the years and have rarely experienced leadership and customer service this poor. Based on our experience--and after hearing remarkably similar stories from people we personally know--I would absolutely NOT use K&J Windows again or recommend them to friends, family, or neighbors.

WINDOW PANE REPLACEMENT: We needed a large thermal window pane in our dining area replaced. Due to…read moreage, the window's gas seals leaked, and this caused the window to fog and to distort views to the backyard. OUR PICK: We called three glass companies and received three competitive estimates. We narrowed the choice to Dependable Glass in North Phoenix, for five reasons: 1. 4.9 Google rating; 2. 4.6 Yelp rating; 3. The professional and pleasant way they answered their phone; 4. They took adequate time to answer our questions about their products and services; 5. We were not rushed to make a purchase decision. THE ESTIMATOR: Dependable Glass sent John, the estimator, to our home to measure the subject window pane. He was on time, very friendly, spoke clearly, and answered all our questions without hesitation. Additionally, he assured us the installation would be performed only by Dependable Glass employees (not third-party installers). He also said the quality of work by the window installers would be A+ and come with guaranteed customer satisfaction. We received an all-inclusive price estimate that was straightforward and easy-to-read. Dependable Glass estimator guaranteed the price would not fluctuate before or during the window pane installation (no upselling). THE OFFICE: A few weeks after making a deposit, the replacement pane was delivered to Dependable Glass from the manufacturer. After that, I received a call from "MICHELLE" to select an installation date. Unfortunately, a couple of weeks before her call, my elderly wife suffered a severe in-home fall that required surgery and a hospital stay of nearly 30 days. I asked Michelle if it was possible to delay the installation until after my wife arrived home. To my pleasant surprise, Michelle said Dependable Glass would be happy to delay the installation for a month, or until we were ready. (That is GREAT service!) She verbalized her compassion about the falling accident, and that REALLY HELPED me during a difficult time. As promised, Michelle called back in 30 days to see if we were ready to book an installation date, and we were. THE INSTALLERS: The installers - James and Ethan - arrived on time, and they were well-prepared with all the required tools and components. They were one of the most pleasant installation teams I have every encountered. They were polite, respectful of the property, and they took the time to answer a few pre- and post-installation questions. James and Ethan went the "extra mile" with a special request. I wanted the large wooden Venetian blinds covering the subject window to be permanently removed before the new window pane was installed (I was unable to remove the heavy blinds due to physical disability). Without hesitation, James and Ethan completely removed the blinds for me (thank you!). After the pane was installed, the two gentlemen removed all stickers and washed the inside and outside glass to a beautiful shine. Wow! What a difference it makes to look at the backyard through clear, quality glass. WOULD WE USE DEPENDABLE GLASS AGAIN OR RECOMMEND THEM? Absolutely YES! We were very impressed with the entire process from start to finish. Everyone we spoke with at the company was pleasant and eager to provide us with excellent products and services. Everyone conveyed a feeling of "trust," which placed us at ease. Therefore, after today's installation, we had another large fogged-up window measured for replacement. I am confident we will receive the same high-quality service and product for this project, as well.

My wife ask Steve about the stability of the glass for cleaning purposes and his response to her was "not to have sex in the shower." My wife was uncomfortable with this response and I am furious!! I called the company and someone named John, who said he was the owner called me back. Prior to John calling me back, I asked the receptionist if Steve was a tenured employee. She confirmed he was. When I spoke to John his verbatim statement to me, as he chuckled, was "he was sorry Steve did a bad job reading the room." Needless to say, he did not, in anyway, show remorse for his employees distasteful and sexist behavior! Why he thought it was a laughing matter is beyond me! I am not sure what room John thinks it's appropriate for his employee to discuss sex with another man's wife but beware that this behavior is not frowned upon but a laughing matter to Dependable Glass ownership. If you are looking for a company that is going to send a man to your home who wants to discuss sex with your wife and where she should/shouldn't have it, Dependable Glass is right for you. I am baffled by this companies sexist behavior and lack of willingness to see the issue in their behavior! It's evident, management does not care about how their employees conduct themselves in the field. This companies behavior is disgusting and I would strongly encourage others to select another company, especially those who value your spouse!

It turned out that the bathroom window was misconfigured at the factory, which was initially a disappointment, because it had been designed & ordered appropriately by the Salesman, but here's the thing. This company corrected the problem, at its own expense, and now that this window is in, it's working perfectly and the installation, as before with the kitchen window, was done professionally and expertly. The installers were great guys too. I could not have asked for more professionalism, from the initial Salesman, to Chelsea who communicated frequently with me and the higher up folks who had to approve these corrections and to the installers themselves. In every way possible this is an excellent reliable company and I highly recommend them. The initial design glitch was just that -- a glitch.
