I'm don't live local and always on the lookout for great food recommendations. A co-worker suggested this place, so I decided to give it a try. I arrived at the small shop and was greeted by two friendly ladies. The menu board was simple, and I opted for the Italian hoagie. She explained the difference between hard and soft rolls, and I decided to go with the large one (which I'm glad I did). The hoagie was incredibly delicious! The fresh meats and cheeses were of the highest quality, and there was no skimping on ingredients. I ate half of in the car and the rest when I got home. This small shop far surpassed any chain restaurant I've ever been to, and it's definitely one of the best food experiences I've had. Feeling a bit torn about this place. That's because I order one thing and one thing only from Screpesi's - their Italian sub. Yes, I've tried other items. But they all pale in comparison, and that's putting it lightly. Their take on the Italian sub is the ONLY reason to come back. Let's take a brief look at the rest of the menu. It's concise to say the least. Certainly nothing wrong with a small menu. Small menus usually indicate a strong focus on what few items a restaurant offers. With fewer items on the menu, it's less stress on the staff. They can probably bang out everything on the menu from muscle memory after just a few weeks on the job. It equates to higher volume and faster service. The only thing is, those recipes have to be good to start with. What is up with the cheese steaks? Description on their website says "top quality chipped ribeye eye steak." Cool, but how about some seasoning? Oh, and their version comes with sauce by default. Personally, I'm fine with it. But damn, the sauce was as bland as the meat. It almost seemed like the sauce was just for coloring. It added absolutely no flavor. To make matters worse, they say onions are cooked with the steak no matter what. So you can't order a steak without onions. Again, to me, not a big deal since I like onions. But I couldn't even taste them. Just by the eye test, I could see maybe one or two tiny slices of onions. I was actually excited to have onions included, but they were nearly invisible (both visually and, uh, flavorfully?). They have some random stuff, too, like pizza. But it has the weirdest description I've ever read. It's pizza, but "carnival style." Then they have three different price points for each type (i.e. Cheese $5/$7/$9). I guess that would indicate small/medium/large? But that's pretty damn cheap for a large. Also in the description, it says "frozen shell." So are these frozen pizzas you pick up and take home and heat up in your own oven? It's so bizarre. That would mean they are just sitting on a mountain of frozen pizzas. And again, seriously, what the hell is carnival style?! Was really debating on 3 or 4 stars. Rounding down to 3 because Screpesi's is so one dimensional. Not just that they focus on sandwiches, but of all the sandwiches they sell, only one is worth buying. Everything else about them is outdated. An uninformative, defunct website with inaccurate pricing and refusal to partner with any delivery service is just icing on the cake. read more

A very good Italian on a chewy hard roll brings me back to them from time to time despite the parking being a bit of a pain.

I've eaten hear many times and the only thing I change up is whether I get a hard or soft roll, both are great! Best Italian sub ever!!!!! They make it hard to get one anywhere else. Main Location on Lancaster Ave is decent, Their cold sandwiches are good, but the hot ones, not so much. I've gotten stale rolls here, but it only happened once. They're a bit pricey, but they do pack their sandiches with a generous amount of fillings. But DO NOT, under any circumstances get a pizza form the Rte 625 location. It was comically bad. I am talking that Chef Boyardee in the box from the supermarket terrible. Most mom-and-pop pizza places around here have good pizza, but not them. Perhaps I'm being sacrilegious but I wasn't at all impressed with the meatball sandwich. Nothing at all wrong, just wasn't impressed with the meatballs. However, the ham and cheese sandwich was very good. The rolls were good. They had to be because they're Conshohocken rolls. Service was fine. I've always had amazing customer experience since the first day I stepped in here. Today it went from being rude to not making a sandwich the way I asked for it. I asked for hot peppers on half (it was on the whole thing; tried to correct it but instead should've got a new bread), then the lettuce , was on one half instead of it being payed out correctly. Lastly, the employee who refused to give me her name (said she wasn't allowed to; however if it would've been a great experience; I'm sure she would have.) slapped provolone cheese on both sandwiches when I clearly didn't ask for it; even if I did (ask what cheese I would like how the other other employees do). Not sure if this rule was made up but I asked her for a 2 foot long since I live so far but she said that policy is 24 hours. I would've been happy if she responded properly; instead she said you need to get 4 separate sandwiches. I left it at that. Her attitude and performance was unacceptable and her co workers accompanied instead of correcting her. This is not how you treat any customer especially in a business full of people. It leaves a horrible image. I only write this review because I operate a hospitality business. I went to the one over by the Turkey Hill on 625. They shared the space with a dog groomer at the time, i think. My Italian hoagie was pretty good. The sho was super clean and very tidy but I couldn't get past the stench of the sewer or something rotten when I'd walked in and out of the building itself. I'm guessing they rent the pace. I hope their landlord fixed/fixes whatever was wrong (it's an old building) so it doesn't put more folks off. I haven't really been back since my first order. Now I have a family. I wanted to introduce my son to a meatball sandwich from there. What a mistake. He asked for a toasted meatball Parm sandwich TOASTED. I've been enjoying "Italian" sandwiches from this flagship store since the 50's. Their ham on roll can't be beat. First, all the rolls are from ATV bakery. Second, the sandwich has a lot of meat! With lettuce, tomato and gobs of thin sliced sweet onions. Something rather different: they dress it with Hellman's mayo. And it works! You can add provolone cheese on request. What a work of art! Folks come from all over the county for this treat. I'm not knocking their Italian sub's, which are tasty too (never tried their hot sub's). Ordered sandwiches today (4 ham and cheese and a steak sandwich). Got home, no steak sandwich! Called up and talked to the young guy that works there explained it to him and said I'll be over for my sandwich. Walk in, get waited on, told the guy I was there for the steak sandwich they forgot. It wasn't even made! I am at a friends house four blocks away and they couldn't even make it in that short amount of time.
