Placed order only to learn a week later (after I contacted scuba.com) that my item was backordered. No notification on website that item not in stock. No email after placing order with notification. Not only do they not communicate me, they also charged my credit card the day I initially purchased. Called customer service and cancelled order. Then, week later they shipped the item anyway. Called the shipper and had it re-routed back to CA. Emailed scuba.com and they never responded. Biggest mistake I made was not researching this company prior to having placed the order. Had to have my credit card company battle it out with them - BEWARE - RESEARCH THIS COMPANY MORE BEFORE CONSIDERING GIVING THEM ANY BUSINESS!!!! They hardly have any inventory from what I learned and take your money, then order the item from the manufacturer. read more

Bait & Switch operation. Ordered "Like New" "Sherwood Depth Wrist Gauge" got a cheaper version "Genesis Depth Gauge". These are sold at different prices, Genesis being sold at almost 50% off. Instead of a higher end Sherwood model pictured and described they sent a cheaper one. Then when I complained they were quick to issue RMA but not pay for return shipping. read more

My experience with Scuba.com was on of the worst examples of customer service I have ever had the misfortune of experiencing. My in-laws, very kindly, gave me a dive watch for my birthday this year. I was actually interested in upgrading to a new dive computer and as such wanted to return the item for credit toward a computer. It was my hope to make the exchange without informing my in-laws as I didn't wish to appear ungrateful for their kind gift. I called and was told to download their RMA form and informed to check the "exchange" box and include my email and phone number on the RMA. She then said someone would be in touch with me when the original item was received. I sent the item via FedEx on June 5th. I tracked the item on the 15th when I began to wonder why I hadn't heard from anyone and found out that it had been received on the 11th of June. I emailed on the morning of the 16th asking for an update regarding the exchange but never received any response. On the 20th I called customer service to follow up and was informed that the original credit card (my father-in-law's) had been refunded on the 19th. Exactly what I had asked them to help me avoid. I asked why and was told "we just do what's on the paper work, you must have checked the refund box instead of the exchange box." When I asked why no one ever contacted me when the package was originally returned I was told my email and phone # weren't on the form, so no one could contact me. Since I was really, really concerned about my in-laws knowing about this exchange. I was certain that I put my contact information on the form and that I had checked the appropriate exchange box. As such, after the phone conversation I emailed customer service asking if I could have a copy of my original RMA form returned to me via email or mail. I wanted to see the form and confirm that the error was mine as was being claimed. Again, no one ever responded to my email. I called customer service again. After getting disconnected twice I was finally transferred to Greg. He then admitted that my RMA form was indeed correctly marked as an item for exchange and that my contact information was indeed on the form and legible. He did not know why I was never contacted. On June 22 I wrote a letter to the company expressing my disappointment and frustration. Today, August 7th I still have yet to hear word one from them. What a surprise. I can't imagine why they would want to apologize or try and correct this situation. Don't waste your money folks. This is clearly a company that could care less about taking care of customers. They are unresponsive, I was lied to repeatedly and through their incompetence at multiple junctures throughout the process they completely screwed up what should have been a very simple exchange process. My order was put on hold 3 times as they were back ordering a part of it which I then cancelled, when my items did arrive I was sent an incorrect dive computer. I arranged a return and sent the computer back, they then lost the computer even though I show them as having received it via postal tracking. To this they replied they had already provided a credit for the returned computer when it was a wetsuit I was credited for, I am now arguing with them as they don't acknowledge that they have my computer and don't bother to get back to me. I have paid them with my credit card, I call and email them almost daily and my order still isn't processed. The website claims international shipping costs $25.00. Classic bait and switch. Very Shady and probably illegal. I ordered a trident float marker ~$10 on 2/26. The next day I got an email saying the order was delayed from the manufacture and it will not ship until 3/2. On 3/3 I got another email saying it wont ship until 3/9. I contacted them using chat asking if it will happen again they say it wont but if I want it faster I can buy a different float for $20. I said no as I dont want to pay double for essentially the same thing. On 3/10 I got another email saying it wont ship until 3/23. So I decided to call, again they said I cant get what I ordered until then and if I want I can pay double and get a different float. By this point even getting that float would be too late for my dive. After this review, I immediately got a phone call from Reggie at scuba.com. I have had great experiences with scuba shops in the past online leisurepro, diversdirect, online scuba but this is not one of them. They show no care about their online customers. You will see it time and time again on their reviews with people having the same complaints. They claim to have a product or a size then we waste our time putting all are information in to order from their site and hear nothing. They billed me the same day I should mention. One week after I placed my order I get an email your item is back ordered you will get it in two months. Ok so your not sending anything else I ordered because you claim to have a product you don't real classy. I hate for you to have to ship in two different packages. One more week goes by this time it's we are sorry your order is going to be over 60 days it has been cancelled. I still haven't seen my refund. Never again, read the reviews you will see a constant pattern. First, every order that was placed had some items that were on back order, some for month. No mentioning any back order on the website during the purchase process. Second, ordered an open box computer and it came defected. On the first attempt to start it - an error code for which tech support advised to return the item to whoever sold it. No one bothered to check whether the item was in working condition before shipping. Called scuba.com and instead of apology got a bunch of arrogant cr..p from the rep. So, scuba.com claims to offer an "Ultimate Price Protection" which offers a 150% price protection. The problem, is that I went to use it and scuba.com declined to honor its own price match policy because, I was told, the competitor's price was below scuba.com's cost. Respectfully, that should not matter. Its "Ultimate Price Protection" does not list its cost as a reason to decline to price match. Scuba.com choose the words used in the "Ultimate Price Protection" policy. Therefore, as it was applied, its "Ultimate Price Protection" turned out to be a false representation. If that representation is false, are there other representations that it has made that are false? Moreover, I guess scuba.com's pricing is not as good as it claims if a competitor can sell something for below scuba.com's cost. Under the circumstances, I will have to question doing future business with scuba.com read more

This is an interesting place. Online shopping in a brick and mortar store, where you select items via a computer terminal, add them to your shopping cart, and ring a bell to start your shopping. The items are brought in by the staff for you to look at and test out. You can look at as many or as few items as you wish! You can compare different items, different colors, different sizes, etc. The staff is plenty helpful and patient, and provide excellent advice for any newbie like myself. read more

I ordered a book from scuba.com on 23 October. It was originally scheduled to be delivered no later than 4 November. That date got pushed back to 11 November. Then finally (after waiting 17 days) the delivery date was pushed back another 16 days to 25 November. This is completely unacceptable for an online purchase. read more

Do NOT purchase from this store. They consistently , knowingly, deliberately sell items that are not in stock and not even available from the manufacturer, then take your money and waste your time. This happened both times I purchased from them, and I never ever will any more. On September 24 I placed an order for a Lavacore hooded vest. They were the only company, including Lavacore that SAID they had this item in stock. The following day, after my card was charged I received an automated message stating it wasn't in stock but would be in stock and at my house two weeks later 10/9. So I booked a Caribbean trip. On 10/16 I received another automated message stating it would again be two more weeks now six weeks after I placed my order. So I contact them and shared I had booked a trip and was told not to worry it would arrive early November. Well that date came and went so again I phoned, they say not their fault and tell me to contact Lavacore!!! Well my trip is less than two weeks away. I'm told again it will arrive soon but I contacted them again another week later saying I need it for the trip that I had purchased based on the non existent Lavacore, . So they two months after I've paid, offer me an inferior imitation that is available everywhere - that they probably don't have and wouldn't arrive in time anyway!! So I ask for my money back and to be taken off their mailing list. Three weeks later I'm still receiving ads and spam. Now I had a trip and no suit so it was an expensive beach vacation. I was in Orange County on a business trip and typically I seek out dive shops when I travel just to get a feel for where they dive, trips, etc... I knew Scuba.com had a store front which was open to the public and I was close by, so I wanted to check it out. Their prices are decent and some of their own branded items were great for in-store purchase only. I bought a cold weather "boat" jacket for $25. Nice jacket, reversible, water resistant, etc. Here is the rub tho.. I assumed this was a big retail store where you could browse inventory like Divers Direct or Divers Supply in Florida, however it was a room with a bunch of computers and a "gopher". You selected things you wanted to buy on their computers, just as if you were sitting at home in your undies on the couch. The kid would then take your list, go into the warehouse and bring back your stuff so you could check it out, try on, and get your hands on the product. Glorified Amazon shopping. The disappointment is the knowledge of the staff in which I interacted. He seemed very new to diving (as am I) and really didn't have any suggestions about equipment other than telling customers it was all about personal preference. Not exactly a "sales" dude... thus the term gopher. As for the overall experience, meh. Probably won't do business there unless it's a great deal like the jacket. read more

I order from them using Amazon Pay and Amazon Pay charge me the grand total but scuba.com the next day they want to charge me more to ship the package otherwise the package will not be shipped. ======= On Nov 26, when I ordered diving computer, and scuba com does not show that it is back ordered. After I paid it; I received an e-mail that it was back order on 12/7. Then I sent back an e-mail and one of scuba com team said, "I'm showing we are expecting to receive your product on 12/7/2016, so in order to get it to you by the 10th you would need 2 day shipping which I'm showing you do have on your order. You should be seeing your package on the 9th." On Dec 3, I got anther e-mile from them telling me that it is back order to 12/20. ========= Update: 12/09/2016 After I wrote the previous review, I got contacted by Bob Grundmeyer the manager in sales department in the same day. He sets every thing right. I am happy for his niceness, care, and fixed up my concern. He was in touch with me very quick to my e-mails and offered me two other options. I was very disappointing, but after Bob contacted me and sat up the issue, so I am glad of being customer with them. Moreover, he was in touch with me regarding the shipping status even if with shipping company, and he sent an e-mail to me when he saw the computer delivered to me. I've been coming here for years. Great service all around, and knowledgeable staff. I noticed some people mentioning things taking a long time to ship. I've always gone into the store, fortunately working and living close by. So I can't say anything there. But I've never gone into the store and had anything listed on the computer not present at the shop. They don't have a "come look at my wares" type store. There are computers with the website you see online, and a cart checkout that just signals someone to bring the items to you. It is actually quite convenient in practice. read more

The shop is an interesting setup: probably more gear than any physical dive shop you've been to, but not laid out for you to peruse: you need to talk to one of the salespeople and have them bring out items you're interested in. I ordered the mask on 12/29/16 for a trip on 1/8/17. They quickly shipped it on 12/30 and it went from California to Jacksonville Fl in five days (1/4) where it sat until 1/9 and was delivered 1/10.
