First off... I admit, I didn't do my homework. No licensing with the State of Hawaii or with the DCCA. Bad news. Long story "short" - like seriously this is a 7 month sage so I will try to be brief. Late March 2019: my car was pretty messed up. Sean assured me that he could take care of it. He worked fast! Got the insurance adjuster out the next day, and things were flying. PUMP THE BRAKES! Everything was 'flying' until he got his payment from the insurance company, then he disappeared.... wasn't answering our calls, had to actually go down to his shop to get answers. He had Early June 2019 (YUP I said June. YUP 2 months have gone by). What he promised would take 2 weeks, took over 2 months NOT KIDDING. Like Mid June: The paint started to bubble and I started to notice the crappy body work. Also noticed how the inside of my trunk (yes I should have checked that before I left) looked like an elementary school paper mache project - you know... like when you cover the newspaper in glue and put it on the balloon in elementary school?! Yah, that bad. There were even patches where paint actually came off the car!!!! All kinds of hassle to get Sean to agree to remedy the situation. I swear he 'fired' 3 workers who happened to be the ones working on my car... so many stories... excuses of the flu on two occasions and cancer (its not a joke to lie about cancer, but he did!). Early September: Sean says the job will take 5 days. 2 weeks later: Car hasn't been worked on, it is sitting on Leokane street, not even at his shop. I go and pick it up. Schedule to bring in the following week. 1 week later: Sean disappears.... can't get a hold of him. Heard from him later in the week. He has the Flu... again. Thank gosh it was just fake flu and wasn't fake cancer again. September 30 all set to take the car in for the FIVE day job. Today is October 7, and the car will not be ready until October 10 (or at least that is what I am told). Would keep you posted, but I feel like this will just be a never-ending post riddled with disappointment and an anti-climatic ending. Hope to see my car again soon and hope that I saved all who are considering SD from making a huge mistake. read more

Went to drop off my car at SD Automotive for a full body paint job. Jay quoted me at $3000 for full body line prep and base coat clear coat. They had my car for 2 weeks and seems like they rushed the job to deliver it to me last minute. Lots of imperfections and the total came out to $3400. My car had ton of overspray, orange peel look, paint drips, and even found a hair in my paint. During my estimate they said they would cut and buff to get rid of all my imperfections, but in the end they wanted $500 more to do it. Very unhappy with my paint job. Pictures speak for itself. Found SD through Yelp, I read the positive reviews and decided to go check them out. My Isuzu i-370 truck had really bad autobody damage throughout my entire drivers side. I took it to several shops and was quoted ridiculous prices and was fed a whole bunch of hoorahh about why it was so pricy. Not the case with Sean at SD. He gave me a straight forward answer and price within seconds. I gotta say we need more business owners like Sean. He was helpful,friendly and has a great sense of humor, and his price is unbeatable. I got my truck back in the amount of time that he said it would take and I was impressed to say the least. The quality was amazing. SD Automotive recently replaced my 1999 Mazda Miata's damaged frame rails. Over the years, various auto shops have been erroneously using the frame rails as lift points and the damage was extensive. I contacted SD Automotive with a unique plan to modify the weak frame rails by fabricating stronger steel tubing in place of the thin sheet metal rails. Shawn worked with me easily and was very accommodating. He took the time to keep me updated with the progress and communicated effectively about the work. Every other body shop on the west side was busy, two week wait. So I went with Sean with SD because he could accommodate me immediately. At first everything seemed to go okay, but he said he was going to use all new parts but he reused the old parts that weren't damaged. I'm pretty sure he bought them, then returned the parts and kept the money. Its been a few months, and it looks like no prep sanding was done because the front fender is now flaking and chipping off where the small pebbles hit the paint from driving on the highway. I also found fasteners weren't replaced so panels in the engine compartment, underbody and fenders were loose. I should have waited two weeks and had a reputable professional body shop take care of it the right way first time around. I didn't even bother telling them to correct the problem, wasn't worth the effort. read more

DO NOT EVER GO HERE!! I wish there was a ZERO STAR for this place. Sean is a liar and very unprofessional. My husband has been waiting 2 weeks for a car part to come in. Sean never answers texts or phone calls. My husband got tired of his excuses so he went down to the shop to see if car part came since he wasn't answering his phone. Sean said he was at the post office for 4 hours trying to get the part(which is most likely a lie). My husband demanded his money back for wasting his time and Sean refused and cussed him out. It has been a blessing meeting Shawn and Dwayne . Shawn worked on my Toyota truck and cleaned my engine before I came to pick it up the next day. I had my valve cover gaskets done, radiator flush,and he is giving me a quote on body work and paint. They ordered and installed my radiator and they will be working on my other truck as well. They will be the only ones working on my cars besides myself .They got me parts cheaper than I got from Orilleys I mean they saved me 1/4 th of the price. Their labor is $75 an hour and their potential is endless. I have total faith in them . They are humble and honest. Great personalities. I ordered a part over a month and a half a go from Sean. He seemed like a trustworthy guy. I paid over 1300 after tax and shipping. I was told to expect about 10 days for the part. I have not able to get Sean to respond to my voicemails, calls, or texts. I am going to file a police report just to try and get my money back at this point. read more

if you have a jeep take it somewhere else... my brother took his jeep here and after 8 months of drama my brothers jeep is still not completed. When my brother asked to remove his jeep after all Seans excuses he told him the engine has been ordered so he has to keep his deposit so he was left with no options. When Sean called my brother to tell him his jeep was done my brother noticed a knocking sound and asked him whats that sound? Sean then told him drive it for so many miles then it will go away that the motor has to be broken into. NOT SO.....All he wanted was there money without finishing the job. Not Cool.. My brother took his jeep back 3 times to Sean and he still couldn't fix it. He then decided to have 3 other mechanics take a look at the jeep and they were blown away... They couldn't believe that SOMEONE actually released the jeep as a job of completion. SD AUTOMOTIVE is suppose to look after there customers and Sean should have said "I CANT LET YOU TAKE YOUR CAR HOME YET THAT KNOCKING SOUND DOESNT SOUND RIGHT' Unfortunately thats not what happened.
