This place is bland. The lomo saltado had no flavor and the rice was grainy and the beans were dry. The jalea mostly had soggy calamari and their infamous rotisserie chicken was salty and pink. Service was good if you get the male waiter. If you want good Peruvian food in the area try Latin grill. A little more expensive but better food. read more

As others have written, the food here is top notch. I go out of my way to come here for the Ceviche which for $15 is a heaping plate of Ceviche, enough to fill you up and then some, and it also comes with a side of mashed sweet potato and corn on the cob. The corn is a different type than I'm used to. If you've ever had Posole, it's the same type of corn that goes in there. Very Peruvian. I rate this as 4 stars instead of 5 because it really is a hole. I have no Spanish, so communication has been tricky sometimes. There is also a garbage smell outside in the parking lot on some of the times I've visited. Don't let this dissuade you from visiting. The food is absolutely worth a trip. read more

The food is good but the service is horrible. I don't speak Spanish and I felt unwanted in that place. I asked the woman a question about one of the dishes, she said something I couldn't understand and continued her conversation with another person..they tell u to come pick up the food in 30 minutes but when u get there it is not ready... they use kind of buffet style there so they put ur food into containers when u arrive. Well, it is not hot at all. Why do they say to come in 30 mins since they don't make food to order? Service very disappointing - too bad because Ceviche is the best I ever had and I know the Peruvian food very well. Aji de gallina also divine but general impression not good at all. If you are looking for a great dinning out experience AVOID THIS PLACE, it has the worst costumer service I have experienced, I am big on dinning out, and the quality of the food goes hand on hand withe the service. and overall this place locks of decent servers, The servers will ignore you when you walk in, no one greets you,Servers will sit you on tables that are not properly cleat and do not expect the tables to be set up with the basics dinnerware, that does not exist in this place. You are lucky is you get their chipped and cracker dinnerware thrown on the table, because usually they will give you the cheapest plastic cups and the smallest Styrofoam dishes to eat in. It seams to me the place its just a glorify restaurant, in reality is a food factory, with inexpensive with large portions. I give this place 2 stars because their food is decent but everything else is absolutely HORRIBLE. The service and attitude is DISGUSTING!!! The people there are HORRIBLE and RUDE. The only good person there is a young gentleman that's nice but everyone else's attitude sucks. Their attitude ruins your appetite and the wait time is even worse. Yes, the service can be a little slow at times. Yes, they are VERY crowded on Fridays and Saturdays. Yes, $16.00 is a lot for a roasted chicken, BUT their food is great and I'm so glad my co-workers introduced me to this place. I love their chicken, fries with the mayo and the aji / salsa verde for their chicken. I don't know what they put in that green sauce, it's so damn good. Also try the Lomo Saltado. It's like steak with onions, tomatoes, rice, etc. It's really good. I have found the best day to go there is on Wednesdays and Thursdays. This place is a diamond in the rough. It's a hole in the wall, but MY LORD is the food fantastic! Their green aji is phenomenal and could literally go with anything, even cardboard. Rotisserie chicken is beyond description, it is that good. The flavors in all their foods is to die for. The only thing I think that could improve is their steak, particularly in the Lomo Saltado. While the entire dish has a ton of flavor, the steak seems like it is cooked rather quickly to get the dish out in a hurry. Their white rice is amazing, even though it is just white rice. If you are looking for authentic Peruvian food in central New Jersey this place is it. The food is delicious, the portions are generous and I love the prices for the amount of food you get. We have tried: pollo a la brasa, bistec a lo pobre, tallarines verdes, anticucho, tamales, arroz chaufa, lomo saltado, jalea, ceviche and their chicha. Everything was delicious. The only downside is the service. They are so busy at times that the wait time is long. Also, if you are already familiar with Peruvian food and/or know Spanish it will be easier to navigate the menu. However, I will continue going there because I really don't mind waiting to eat a delicious meal but you can be smart about it and avoid going during their busiest time. read more

I love authentic ethnic restaurants, and this is the real deal. I have never seen anyone in there but Peruvians or Hispanics! Never an English-speaking white person in there; too bad, it's their loss. There is always one person there that speaks English to take my order, however. Their house special Lomo Saltado is fantastic; spiced nicely, better than anywhere else in my book. Take-out comes in a 15" x 10" container, it is so large. $15 and loaded with beef, chicken, mussels, small shrimp, a few clams- I get 2 or even 3(!) meals out of it for $15. The Pescado a lo Macho (Fried fish with seafood in a creamy chees sauce)is a winner, too. Their rotisserie chicken- great. Some real authentic dishes as specials on the weekend that I want to try, like Carapulcre. This is as good, over all, as TeTe's in Highland Park- and I like the Saltado here more. The place is tiny, a hole in the wall, really- maybe 6 or 7 tables. TV always on, set to a Spanish channel. If you want atmosphere, this ain't the place. Don't let that deter you. I won't let that detract from the 5 star rating I give it for the food. . One of my current favorite places. read more

This is the BEST peruvian spot in the area. Everything we've had here and ordered here over the years has been nothing but delicious and satisfying. The flavors and seasonings from this peruvian restaurant does not lack in any way. The portions are large, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the green sauce is to die for. We've always ordered ahead for take out as the restaurant is always packed and parking is scarce. I have gone a couple of times to this place, only because my stepdad likes the food there. In those several times, I've gotten a nasty attitude from the staff including the OWNER. He doesn't know how to talk to his costumers (very rude man). I will never go back there. Also, it looks dirty and has a weird smell. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there.
