This was an absolutely amazing dinner. Everything was delicious and some of the menu options were a bit surprising in a good way. Our waitress Denisse was great and friendly. Kept are drinks filled and checked on us frequently. App: we ordered the Baked Bread w/ Gorgonzola Fondue. This was feliz. The bread was tasty on its own and the fondue made it even better. I'd order this again and again. Entrée: Stuffed Lobster Special: The whole portion is huge and so delicious. The lemon cream sauce the butter was tossed in was a perfect pairing. My friend ordered this but I wanted to snatch it off her plate. BBQ Platter: There were ribs, shrimp, chicken and a papaya apple slaw. It all tasted so good. The meat on the ribs fell off the bone. The shrimp was perfectly fried and HUGE and the chicken breast was moist. Damn this was good. Catch of the day was Wahoo served with some veggies and saffron rice. It was so good. This use to be called Epernay, it was one of my absolute favorite restaurants so I was sad to hear it had changed owners. But decided to give it a try. Getting reservations wasn't easy! If you can try and plan weeks in advance! Reservations were for 8.15 we got there early and since our table wasn't ready they offered us to have a seat on the benches across from the restaurant and came to serve us a drink there. They even brought a little "amuse bouche" for my friend who was absolutely famished! We had the blue cheese dip, the scallops and mussels risotto, the salmon with pesto and lobster with coconut curry. Everything was amazing! I wouldn't be able to pick a favorite! Our Wednesday night reservations gave us a view of the parking lot. When we were brought to the table we were introduced to it as a cozy spot with a view of the water. A bit insulting as we know what water views look like and this wasn't one of them. Be sure to specify where you'd like to sit as we were told only those that request it get inside. Okay, Sea La Vie was my absolute favorite restaurant in all of Saint Thomas. It wasn't my wallet's favorite spot, but it was mine. First of all, every appetizer and meal that we got here was absolutely delicious. They brought us bread and a sample of butternut squash soup before our food came out and it hyped me up for our meals so much (rightfully so). I ordered lobster and scallops and, when I asked the staff for a wine recommendation, they paired it perfectly. It is a little nicer of a place, so I'd recommend dressing up a bit! That being said, my friends and I kind of "landed" here, so we were just dressed in some jean shorts and cute tops and they still let us in and treated us with so much respect! My husband and I were looking for a spot to celebrate our 3rd Anniversary, and we were so happy that a friend recommended Sea La Vie. We were lucky to snag two seats at the bar, but I highly recommend calling ahead a day or two before and getting a reservation. (Place is somewhat small and seating is only open until 9pm since they close at 9:30pm, so it fills up quickly.) Really cute, intimate atmosphere. Everything we ate and drank was awesome...Stand outs were the garlic bread with Gorgonzola dipping sauce, the ribeye, and the key lime pie with coconut macaroon crust. Well, I took one bite of my steak and couldn't breathe. I proceeded to gag and choke. No one from the restaurant came over to help. My daughter called our cab driver and rushed us out of there. YES, we paid our bill although I only had a bite. The other 3 were given boxes by our waiter to take their meal home. There was a sauce on my steak that closed my throat up. I took Benadryl and was able to breathe again. We asked for the ingredients in the sauce, but the owner did not reply for 5-6 days and only when my daughter made a post on another blog about the incident. Funny, another woman the night before had the same experience. Just saying....very lacking in PR at this place. read more

Came here on a recommendation from a local chef (which should tell you all you need to know). Especially as his recommendation came from coming here on opening day. Less than a month from opening the service was phenomenal, the owner came by to say hi and you could tell she cares about great food, great service, and great wine, dinner here was a delight. My wife had the scallop and shrimp pasta and I had one of the best fish dishes of my life in the tilefish special. The owner recommended a Yealand Sauvignon Blanc, a self-sustaining winery in New Zealand, and it paired wonderfully. It's a quaint restaurant with a thoughtfully-done mix of old-world and beach style and we'll be back in a couple days to celebrate the New Year with them. Cheers to a success! read more

My son and his lady opened this beautiful restaurant after rebuilding from top to bottom, after Hurricane Maria Hurricane Irma blew the island apart! Just showed up here with a 5:30pm reservation. When I made the reservation over the phone, I was not told children were not allowed due to "licensing". I showed up and the hostess saw the kids and said she told us she said over the phone that she asked us if we were adults. Total lie. Restaurant was empty and we drove 30 minutes to get there. Terrible communication even if they're not allowed to have children which I've never heard of on the island or anywhere else in the world for that matter. This little gem was a recommendation from one of the staff at the Marriott. We were looking forward to a great meal as all the reviews seemed to point in that direction.While I admit that the food was very good, the service and the owner attitude seemed a bit lacking. We were early for our reservation and I had asked on the phone if they had a bar we could sit at and have a drink before dinner, was told yes of course. When we arrived 30 minutes prior to our reservation to sit and have that drink, we were ushered out of the restaurant by the owner and told that we were "early and that we should go to one of the other bars near by because the bar here is full". This was not a professional suggestion to go to another bar, this felt like we had done something wrong and were being scolded for being early. Since we were looking forward to eating here we went next door to Bella Blu and sat at their lovely bar and had that drink. We came back at our appointed reservation time and were seated by the owner, who at that point could not have been more welcoming. She asked what type of water we would like to have and then NEVER came with it, nor did our waiter until we asked again. Strike 1. The waiter was very distracted by a table of 4 that were in the middle of dinner, but he seemed friendly enough. We ordered a drink, I asked about the beers that they had, he started to tell me, but quickly became distracted by the table of 4's needs and never came back to continue with the beer selections. Strike 2. We ordered the Charcuterie appetizer and he asked that we order the entire meal at that time. So we did. About 15 minutes later, our dinners came out. NO appetizer. The waiter apologized and it was obvious that he felt bad, but for me that was Strike 3. The owner never came over to see if we liked our meal, or to even chat like she did at all the other tables around us. This is no way to build your business and although we enjoyed the food, because of the service and attitude of the owner I would not recommend this place. read more
